The issue occurs mostly while the vehicle is in motion, but occasionally when it is sitting still and idling. while driving, the car engine will suddenly stall. no warning lights or check engine lights turn on. no codes are found when scanning the obd2. there are no recorded miss fires for any of the cylinders either. this is an especially dangerous situation specifically when driving full speed on major highways or roads. when the engine stalls, power steering cuts out and i have to muscle the car off to the side of the road to put the car in park and start it up again. the engine has stalled while going in reverse, driving forward, and sitting idle. this has happened over a dozen times now.
2013 dodge avenger has randomly started honking the horn while stopped and in motion. the honking lasts anywhere from a quick honk to sounding like i am laying on the horn for minutes going down the freeway. i have tried pulling over and restarting the vehicle which did not help or stop the horn. this is very dangerous.
For the past couple of months my horn goes off on its own. sometimes it goes off when i lock my car, other times it does not. it will sometimes click, and other times it will blare for 5 seconds. it is very startling especially while driving in traffic or sitting at a stoplight. once i was driving in the rain, and it went off for about 8 seconds and at the same time my windshield wipers started to stall and not work properly. the horn does not work when i push on it like it should. it is very concerning since it can cause safety issues.
I was driving my 2013 dodge avenger and the horn goes off by itself from 3 seconds to 3 minutes constantly. when i drive the car it cuts off. my car has only 85000 miles and i have read similar complaints regarding this vehicle around that mileage.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge avenger. while the heater was activated, the passenger side vent distributed cold air while the driver's side vent distributed hot air and failed to defrost the windshield. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact called bald hill dodge chrysler jeep ram (1035 bald hill rd, warwick, ri 02886, (844) 847-4671) and was informed that the heater core was clogged up. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 70,000. the vin was unknown.
Window goes down but will notcome back up. motor is either blown , regulator needs to be replaced or switchs gone bad. i fixed this before and it happened again. should not have to replace again. august 27, 2019 at 1:00am
While driving the engine will throttle down or cut the acceleration off making it dangerous to drive on the highway. i have to pull over repeatedly to turn off the vehicle and restart it to make it to a safe place to look at the engine.
My car began clicking, approximately 30 seconds at a time, late winter early spring 2018-2019 when the heat was turned on. i came to realize the car did not need to be running for this to happen. during an oil change the following week i was told the clicking had to do with the vents and how common this clicking was and that repair eas not guaranteed. as i am the primary person/occupant in my car, i found out later the heat only produced warm air. this is my 1st time owning a dodge and everyday my experiences with this car reaffirms i will never own another. i make it a point to tell any and everyone this fact. i have copied some of the complaints logged about this and my other issue, car stalling while turning left to enter the freeway with throttle indicator. i was on the side of the road alone and female until tow arrived at 9pm and the cost for an alternator which after reading this may not be the issue.... had i known how unresponsive dodge is to their customers by putting their profit over our cost of repairs... again, i tell everyone what they are likely to experience if they purchase the avenger. the complainants listed here and on other sites very likely agree. attached pics were time stamped 6.39pm. i sat on the on ramp to the freeway approximately 3 hours.
2013 dodge avenger 3.6l will need to placed on safety recall p60 / nhtsa 14v-634 the alternator is allowing current back to the battery. the battery is cooking and the alternator is smoking. this happened while driving and destroyed the battery. after the vehicle was stopped i put in a new battery and the alternator started smoking and the new battery became very hot while the vehicle was off, we did not even have the key in the ignition. this could have caused the battery to explode and could have been a fire if i did not remove the battery and the new battery.
Takata recall: i was driving my 2013 dodge avenger sxt on the highway and i heard a pop. and then i felt all this air but all windows was up. i pull my sunroof cover back and look and my sunroof exploded.glass everywhere. my sunroof was not open and it was not in the vent open option either. it was completely closed when this happened on april 29,2019 around 10:45 am in the morning.
Faulty tipm. i was in motion driving on the city street. i had my cellphone charging in the cigarette lighter port and my windshield wipers on at the same time. my windshield wipers started freezing up in the middle of my window until i unplugged my phone. i had to pull over and wait for the rain to stop. it even does it when i turn on the air condition. sometimes when i push the lock button on my driver side door, all 4 doors will lock. btw, i know it's not the battery because, i just had a brand new one installed 1 month ago.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge avenger. the contact stated that while their son was driving approximately 35 mph in the rain, when he attempted to turn the heater on and defrost the windows, the system failed. the contact contacted aaa who recommended a certified mechanic. the contact took the vehicle to the certified mechanic who diagnosed that the heater's chord was blocked with sand that leaked from the engine block. the vehicle was repaired, however, the failure occurred again. the vehicle was repaired a second time. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge avenger. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic, but no specific diagnosis was provided. the mechanic advised that the vehicle be taken to a dealer. crystal chrysler dodge jeep of brooksville (14358 cortez blvd, brooksville, fl 34613, (352) 597-1265) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 13v552000 (engine) and 13v043000 and (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 138,177.
Passenger side defrost/vent defects. the defrost and heat/air on the passenger side are not working due to a manufacturers defect. i cannot see when the heat outside the car is too high or low and the window doesn't properly defrost due to cold air only coming out of the passenger side. only cold air blows from the vents on the passenger side in both heat/air and regardless of settings. this occurs stationary and in motion, on the highway and while turning.
Check engine light with throttle control system light on when i got into car this morning. had not been driving vehicle. shut car off then turned it back on because i was unsure what the light was for. looked it up on line to find that it is the throttle control system.
There is no electrical power going to the passenger side head light on my vehicle. the interior lights flash on and off while the vehicle is in motion.
I have an issue with my 2013 heating system. my driver side vents are blowing hot air , though my passenger side is blowing cold and i do not have the money to fix this! bad time of year for this problem, my child and myself will be freezing this winter! also it has under 100,000 miles on it !! and no, it happens parked or in motion .thanks dodge
Cold air blowing out of passengers side while drivers side blows hot, and makes annoying clicking sound. the actuators in the dash keep going out!!! this should be recalled thousands of people have no heat because chrysler used cheap plastic in the actuators that are causing them to wear out every year. and the dash makes the clicking sound even when the car is off! this is a major problem when you buy a car to transport your children and there are recalls that i am never getting notified about.
My 2013 dodge avenger the passenger side blows freezing cold air and the drivers side blows hot
My vehicle stalled, started shaking, shut down and lost power while driving. the following three warning lights came on; 1) malfunction indicator light (mil); 2) electronic throttle control (etc); and 3) electronic stability control (esc). i have noticed that the car seems to stall when i put it in drive and take off is slow. it takes me several blocks to just reach 30 mph. the car also feels as if it is lunging but resumes a slow pace. take off is extremely slow when i stop for traffic lights. the engine seems to lose pressure. the car will rev and accelerate on its own even with the brake pedal being pressed. my car started sputtering in traffic, the car revved up like i was pressing on the gas. then yesterday i experienced immediate loss of power in the vehicle & the inability to increase speed, almost causing me to be involved in an accident. my vehicle slowed to approximately 10 - 20 mph. the manufacturer has not addressed this faulty problem and needs to address immediately!!!!! my life matters and so does everyone else's life and those of their family!!!! what is really upsetting to me is that this is a known problem that has been reported repeatedly by others who have had this situation!!! my life matters and so does everyone else's life and those of their family!!!!
I've had a few issues recently with my 2013 dodge avenger over the past year. when my change oil warning indicator comes on, some of my warning indicator lights randomly come on as well. the first few times my airbag indicator light would come on and stay on. when i took my car for the oil change i asked them check the airbags but there was nothing indicating a problem and once the oil was changed the light would go off and stay off. the next time it was the abs & the tire pressure monitoring system; i got the oil changed they checked, nothing was found again. before this last time, my oil warning came on along with the emergency brake light, as if the brake was up and it stayed on even when i drove, again no problems were found. last night (5/09/18) change oil warning indicator came on. this morning (5/10/18) i started my car (automatic car starter) went out to my car and my tire pressure monitoring system warning light and my electronic throttle control warning light were lit. i tried to turn the car off and back on, however the car wouldn't shut off right away. when i restarted my car the light indicators were gone. but while driving to work if i were to stop at a light or stop sign my car would idle and feel as though it was about to shut down so i had to put it in park while stopped. also when i had to accelerate from the stop if i just drove like normal and took my foot of the brake and push the gas the rpm's would go to 7 then drop and my car would shake. i had to take my foot off the brake carefully then drift, and then press gently on the gas until i was able to pick up speed. this is my only vehicle in which i drive my children, please help!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge avenger. while driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. the contact stated that the vehicle seemed as if it would turn off while driving. san antonio dodge chrysler jeep ram (11910 interstate 35 frontage rd, san antonio, tx 78233, (210) 702-2220) diagnosed that the vehicle's battery was faulty. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the contact stated that the recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 13v552000 (engine) was received. the failure mileage was 36,000.
The vehicle's heater blows cold air on the passenger side and warm air from the drivers side simultaneously. all vents ( foot area, face area, and windshield area) are affected.
A few weeks ago i was turning and trying to accelerate when my electronic throttle control light went on. the car lost power but after i took my foot off the gas petal the light turned off and i got power back to the car. took it to get the computer on but no codes came back. tonight i was merging into the highway when etc the check engine and the abs lights came on. the car lost power and i couldn't go faster then 50mph. i got back to the house turned the car off then back on and no lights are on. i'm not sure what to do. if the lights aren't on the computer won't pick up any error codes. also my car already has a recall on the airbags. is this an electrical problem?
Passenger side air vents do not blow heat while driver side vents will blow heat. also, while the heat met is on and driving combining to a stop the heater makes a grinding noise and bubbling sound. i have heard this is a common issue that dodge refuses to acknowledge to fix. this needs to go on review for a recall
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge avenger. while attempting to start the vehicle, the contact placed the key in the ignition and was able to turn the key to the start position, but the vehicle failed to crank. the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed as having a faulty air bag, which needed to be replaced. the mechanic stated that a recall was associated with the vehicle for the air bag, but the contact could not determine which air bag or the recall details. the vehicle was taken to blake fulenwider ram chrysler dodge jeep (3000 n saint marys street, beeville, tx 78102 (855) 996-5681) where the air bag was replaced. the contact assumed that the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. in addition, the seat belt indicator illuminated on and off. the contact called lithia chrysler jeep dodge of corpus christi (4313 s staples st, corpus christi, tx 78411 (361) 288-2510) where the dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (electrical system, air bags). the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall and did not offer any further assistance. the failure mileage was unavailable.
My horn just started randomly blowing with car on/off on 7/20/2017. my car has lost power twice today driving home from work.
While driving on highway (55 mph), dashboard lights flashed on and vehicle lost all power suddenly without notice. all power steering, brakes and electrical power was lost. this happened without prior warning. vehicle losing all power suddenly while driving could have caused a fatal accident and should be addressed why no warning was given as to any issues the vehicle may have been experiencing.
Car overheats when stopped in heavy traffic on highway (bumper to bumper, rush hr. )and on local streets at traffic lights. cooling fans not coming on. had it towed to a garage and they told me that it was a problem with cooling system that was under recall. i contacted dealership who asked for my vin # and said there was no recalls on my vehicle pertaining to the cooling system.
Air bag light goes off and on while driving. it can stay on for several minutes then turn off and back on again. car has 60,000 miles. local dealership tells me it will cost over 120 to diagnose. i worry about the safety of this problem if the vehicle is to get into an accident.
While stationary, several attempts to start the vehicle failed. the electronic throttle control (etc) indicator light and the malfunction indicator light (mil) were both illuminated for every failed attempt. the dashboard lights would flicker on and off accompanied by a clicking sound while attempting to start the engine. the atmospheric condition was humid and cool. there was condensation present on the vehicle. several hours later, attempted to start the vehicle. it had a weak ignition with the instruments lights briefly dimming, but the engine started. attempted additional start-up cycles to check if the engine would start again. the engine started each time. the atmospheric condition during the second set of start-up attempts was warm and humid. no condensation was present on the vehicle.
While driving the vehicle around 30mph the vehicle loss some power and dropped to 10-15mph. drove to the side of the road and turned vehicle off to see if it would stop. turned car on with no trouble then started driving then the problem occurred again. *tr

I received a letter informing me about this safety recall in october 2016. as of yet there is no fix and this is my only vehicle for transportation as of now. this is unacceptable and taking too long for such a safety recall.
Heat only blows hit on drivers side ....middle and passenger side blows cold including defrost. and a clicking sounds comes from passenger side when starting car possibly passenger vent or glove box area
While on the highway doing 75 mph, my 2013 avenger immediately dropped to 40 mph. it felt like a car had re ended me, after dropping to 40, my car lost all power. my rpms went to 0, and i had no control while steering. it left me stranded for 45 minutes and suddenly turned back on. this has happened 3 times already. also, before i had the dealership disconnect my horn, it would randomly blare. sitting in traffic and it would go off. sometimes it would beep once, other times it would last anywhere from 2-10 minutes. turning the car off wouldn't solve the problem, it would actually continue. the mechanics told me it was my tipm (total integrated power module) that caused this to happen, only seen in chrysler models. this problem has been ongoing starting with my horn since sep. 23rd, 2016.
