We have classified the 41 complaints from 2006 Chrysler Sebring about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
At around 40k miles the horn on my 2006 sebring started to go off without being pressed. at first it malfunctioned when i unlocked the car with the keyless remote. then it begin doing it while driving. it doesn't just beep the horn gets stuck so i am pounding on my steering wheel trying to get it to stop. my wife was pulled over on the highway because the police thought she was driving aggressively blaring the horn at everyone. luckily while she was explaining to the officer the problem the car has the horn went off and he saw for himself that there is a problem with this car. after several months i just had the mechanic unhook the horn, which is a huge safety hazard, because he gave me an estimate near $1000.00 to repair it. so its been over a year and about 20k miles that i have been driving a vehicle with no horn. my car is due for safety inspection on april 25th and it definitely wont pass without a horn, and $1000 is way too much to pay to get a horn fixed. had i known about this site a couple years ago i would have posted a complaint then, but i guess better late than never.
I have a 2006 chrysler sebring and the horn in my car keeps going off for no reason while i am driving and while its parked its getting to the point where i cannot even use my horn at all when i need it but it will go off when i don't a few moments later and it wont stop even when i hit it. *tr
Safety-related defect cars "horn/panic-alarm" failure. *tr
2006 chrysler sebring horn-goes off blaring with out warning regardless if car is on or not. at first i could press hard on the steering wheel to get it to stop, now i have to pull fuse to cut it off. finally just pulled fuse out perm. dealership told me they could do nothing, as it did not happen when they had it. ****this is a major safety hazard as it could give other drivers mixed signals from you when goes off, causes a major distraction for you and other drivers operating in the area and most just pull fuse making the horn inoperable-great safety issue as a horn is a requirement to pass inspection if its operation was not important would not be on inspection standard and it is clear that this is design/parts issue not abuse of the vehicle by the consumer. needs to be recalled and fixed before an accident happens. *tr
I bought my sebring sedan in may of 2006 with 5 miles on it. for starters, i immediately had issues with the radio cutting out. i took it back to the dealership asap, and they claimed to have fixed it, but didn't. my second problem was my horn. it all of a sudden started sounding muffled, if it sounded at all. i called about that problem and they told me to bring it in. which i would have, but over that weekend out of nowhere, my car stalled out on me without any kind of warning lights or gauges. i called a local towing company to pick it up, and they immediately told me that they could see right off the bat that i had a large hole in my oil pan, and all of the oil had probably leaked out. so i told them just to go ahead and replace it and we would go from there, thinking that would be the end of it. unfortunately, i was wrong. after they replaced the oil pan, they soon realized that my engine had seized. so assuming the dealership would be the ones to install the new engine, i had the car towed back to my house until i confirmed things with the dealership. i also figured that because the car was barely a year old, it should be covered under my warranty. i was wrong again. so, long story a little shorter, the dealership refused to pay for any of the new engine, nor did they even give me a good price on one. their cheapest one was pretty much the price of another mechanics most expensive. so, because i had the engine replaced somewhere else, my warranty for almost everything else was void. since then, i have had nothing but problems out of it, and its going to break down for good soon because i cannot afford to keep up with the problems. my engine light is currently on, and has been for about 6 months, i just recently had an antifreeze leak fixed, i think there may be a transmission problem, and my horn still doesn't work. those are just to name a few. it has been the most unreliable vehicle i have ever owned. i am actually thinking of letting the bank just take it. *tr
