26 june 2018, i leased the 2018 chrysler pacifica with the s appearance package vin: [xxx] from ourisman chrysler jeep dodge ram of alexandria, 5900 richmond hwy, alexandria, va 22303. first complaint: on thursday, june 28th at 8:51am i reached out to [xxx] explaining to him the console was shorting out and at one point it had completely shut-off. . he instructed me to bring it back in and have it replaced so that chrysler would have a record of the issue. -- this issue happened within days of purchase. second complaint: on monday, oct 1, 2018 the same 2018 chrysler pacifica with the s appearance package stalled, then shut off while driving home from real estate class (6 months pregnant). suddenly for no reason, without warning the vehicle lost all electricity (including power steering, engine, interior and exterior light.) right after flashing the following error: ?service electrical stability control, park brake unavailable, battery light, enter auto theft code, stop safely vehicle will shut off soon and other numerous errors. as the van slowed to a crawl, and passing vehicles drove by nervously trying to avoid hitting me, i edged off into a school parking lot. my vehicle was towed to ourisman chrysler of bowie md, 2406 crain hwy, bowie md third complaint: on sunday, dec 8, 2019 the same 2018 chrysler pacifica with the s appearance package stalled then shut off on my husband, again, suddenly for no reason, without warning the vehicle lost all electricity (including power steering, engine, interior and exterior light.) right after flashing the following error: ?service electrical stability control, park brake unavailable, battery light, enter auto theft code, stop safely vehicle will shut off soon and other numerous errors. fortunately, my husband was able to coast it into the garage as it shut off, never to start again. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I was driving in my 2018 chrysler pacifica on a rural street when it suddenly felt like the front passanger side tire had blown out. the car was difficult to control & and pulled to the right, pushing up against the curb. the car started to smoke and would not turn off. concerned it was going to go on fire, my daughter & i ran out. when we were out of the car i saw that the front axle connecting the tire had come completely disconnected and dropped to the street while driving. i called 911 for help. the firemen arrived first. the car was still revving & smoking but they were unable to shut it manually so they had to lift the hood & cut the wires. the police arrived & investigated the area. they showed me the gauge mark from where the tire axle dropped in the middle of street which was behind where the car stopped against the curb. there were zero interferences in the area (pothole, debris, signs, railguards etc.). it was a smooth street with a low, gradual curb. the officer told me that it was not my fault & due to a mechanical failure on the car. he wrote that in his report as well as on the notepad paper with his info & phone # to give the the dealership. 2 2018 recalls that may explain the problem, even though my vin is not affected - which i would like further inspected, so i'm contacting the nhtsa to hopefully expand the recall vin #s. *2018 chrysler pacifica recall, the front-axle half-shafts may have been incorrectly assembled, preventing the shaft from being properly secured to the constant-velocity joint. if the axle shaft disengages from the cv joint, the minivan will have a loss of drive or allow the vehicle to move. *chrysler is recalling 47,771 of the 2018 pacifica and pacifica hybrid minivans because parts that connect key suspension and steering components on the right front wheel may fail, which could lead to a crash. *dt*jb*dt *as
Multiple engine stalls when slowing to turn or stop, at least 9 times. the engine dies, you have to come to a complete stop to be able to restart the engine. this has happened while turning, while coming to a stop sign or stop light and just while slowing down. one instance of the brakes and steering locking up as i tried to stop at a red light. i was not able to stop and ran through the red light. i had no steering or brakes. when i did come to a stop, i tried to back up to get out of the middle the road and the gear shift was also locked up. the van has a been in for service 5 times and 49 days so far and currently has been at the dealership service department since june 11. took van in 6/5/2019 to comply with recall v53 and on 6/11/2019 the engine stalled again. i have documents i wanted to upload but they exceeded the 5mb limit. also in the "affected parts" section i wanted to select "brakes" in addition to the steering, engine and electrical but i was not able to add another selection.
Was traveling at highway speeds until road construction slowed everything down to stop-and-go. after about 10 minutes of this, we were about to go again and the car just stopped. nothing was working. called chrysler dealership in st louis where we leased the car. they told us there was a way to release the car so we could push it off the highway. didn't work. finally had car towed to chrysler dealership in springfield, il. when we got back to st louis, found a safety recall letter: v53/nhtsa19v-348. am enclosing repair sheets.
Loose feeling in front end while driving the car and going over bumps in the road, had vehicle serviced 4 times by 2 service places, the noise still exists and i am concerned something will happen driving my car so i have rented a vehicle a few times to make sure of mine and my family's safety, this issue has been going on for 2 to 3 months now and every technician can't seem to duplicate the noise that we feel when going over bumps,it almost feels like something is bobbling around under the car, this issue also affects the steering when making a left turn and it makes some sort of rubbing or knocking noise, this has been so frustrating and i am concerned that something will happen if i don't get this car fixed,i hope someone out there can help me,[xxx] 4/13/19,thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Power steering losses all assistance and its very hard to handle the vehicle . message shows up on driver display that say power steering system is not available. this has happen numerous times while driving from 20 to 50 mph and some times while stopped. vehicle has 19k miles on it. has been at the dealer 2 times and heading back a third time within the last 2 weeks for the same problem. first they changed the gear rack 19001012 and eps module returned vehicle. did not even leave the dealership parking lot and the problem was back. returned vehicle for another service and this time they changed eps wiring harness. had the vehicle for 3 days and problem is back, taking back to the dealership for the 3rd time. the loss of power steering assist is a major safety issue and will lead to an accident and maybe even death.
2018 chrysler touring l plus purchased 4/23/2018. on 3/25/2019, while driving on a clear dry road in late afternoon at 50 miles/hour on a main road leading into our city, the steering suddenly turned hard right (could not control it) and the vehicle went off the road. no injuries (side airbags deployed), but significant damage to vehicle. it may be a total loss. it's unbelievable that nobody was killed or hardly physically injured, but both driver and passenger (a very young child) are traumatized by the experience with this new vehicle. *dt*jb
While in motion, a loss of power steering is observed. there doesn't appear to be any specific sequence or events to cause the issue, and appears to occur randomly. instrument cluster indicates that there is a loss of power steering, and to service soon. a red lightning bolt in the upper left corner remains on for as long as the power steering loses function. issue has occurred between 1 - 4 times in a day, at wide spectrum of speeds (stationary at red light, and between 30 - 125 km/hr)
In the fall, the entire electrical system failed leaving my car completely inoperable. this happened while driving the vehicle with my kids in the car. thank goodness we were in a safe neighborhood going at a slow rate of speed.it took over a week to "fix" the problem and was give a whole new "computer". on saturday 3-2 at 10:30 pm, i was driving with my children on the ohio turnpike going 70 mph when then power steering failed. i had to pull off the road. i did not have control of the vehicle due to loss of steering and had to pull the wheel hard to the right to get off the road. thank goodness, i was in the right lane. if i were in the left lane on the highway, it would have been potentially fatal. both occurrences could have caused serious injury or have been fatal. we researched the issues and found a nytimes article on these failures. this car has put my family's safety in danger.
Electric power steering suddenly went off and stopped working while driving at the highway speed limit of 65 and at 75. it has happened a total of 7 times during a one week period while on 2 trips. my van has 15,500 miles on it. so far it has only occurred while driving in a straight line. it has happened with cruise control on and with it off. it has happened with temperatures in the mid to upper 20's and when it wa s in the upper 60's.
Two occurrences of complete loss of power steering assist during one day. first occurrence was while driving at approximately 25mph in a residential area. vehicle was driven into parking lot and parked. the next occurrence was during the next drive cycle and occurred immediately after the vehicle was started and placed into reverse. power steering returned when the vehicle was then placed in drive. on both occasions. warning was displayed on driver information center but cleared when steering assist returned. no mil or stored messages accessible by vehicle owner. approximately 1,800 miles on vehicle.
As i was driving on a three lane interstate with all three of my children in the automobile the power steering indicator light came on and i could not steer my car. i put on my flashers and started beeping my horn to alert other drivers. thankfully, i was able to find a clear path over to the shoulder. after i was stopped for about 30 seconds the indicator light went off and the steering came back.
While using the park assist feature to park perpendicular my van started to backup too fast and backed me into a parked car prior to being able to hit the brakes in time. it resulted in damages to both my van and the parked car that it was attempting to park me next to.
While driving - slowing to a stop for a stoplight, my car's computer screens started flashing various warnings to restart the engine. at this point, the car was not responsive to the gas pedal / would not move and the power steering was also not functional. i had to put on my hazards, put the car in park and turn off and turn back on the engine.
On sunday january 13th while getting off highway lost power steering while taking exit. due to lack of power steering van went off the road up an embankment and damaged vehicle. i called chrysler on 1/14/2019 and reported issue. claim #57836097. i was told that someone from incident reporting team would be contacting me within 4-5 days. i have since called them again on 1/22/2019 and again today 1/28/2019. i have no choice but to drive vehicle because i am a 100% disabled veteran and in a powerchair. the van is customized for my powerchair and my only means of transportation. the power steering keeps going out intermittently and now other electrical issues are occuring now as well. the passenger side window comes down on its own, traction control light on dash goes on and off, stability warning flashes on dash and of course power steering light comes on and says service. prior to the incident on the highway off ramp the steering went out for a few seconds. i brought it to bonneville dealer in manchester nh and they told me it was just a fluke. obviously it was not a fluke and my van is now damaged. drivers side sliding door does not close right and is bent upwards and not sure what else may be damaged. waiting on chrysler for next step.
During driving the van will shut off. this happens intermittently but consistently 1-3 times per week. most often the vehicle will shut off while at a stop. this happens with both the auto start/stop feature on and off. when releasing the break to resuming driving, the vehicle is off and warning lights on the dash display. "service stabilitrac, abs, etc. it then displays the ignition icon that says depress brake and start vehicle. the vehicle must be placed in park, then restarted. this same event has happened on multiple occasions while driving down the highway at 50 mph. no power steering, brake booster or nothing. chrysler is aware of these issues in the 2018-19 vehicles and we have been dealing with them for 3 months, however they have no resolution proposal and feel it ok to keep this type of liability on the road......not acceptable.
Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power. in addition, the power steering failed and the steering wheel was difficult to turn. also, the emergency flashers were inoperable, the temperature gauge increased to high, and the vehicle failed to engage into gear. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to landmark chrysler dodge ram of atlanta (5745 peachtree industrial blvd, chamblee, ga 30341, (678) 825-3200) where it was diagnosed that two batteries failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact had concerns about the safety of the vehicle. the contact called 911 for assistance during the failure. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 57793693. the failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
I was traveling on i-95 north bound in south carolina at 75 mph in the far left lane. i went to shift back to the center lane when the power steering completely failed and sent us across 3 lanes of traffic. we almost sideswiped a semi-truck. i was able to break enough to end up behind that truck in the far right lane and regain control of the vehicle. the red steering wheel light was illuminated on the dash board with a message power steering failure service required. i was able to make it to the next off ramp and once about half way up the ramp the power steering started working again. several hours later the power steering went out again this time i was going straight at 65 mph in north carolina. it remained out for a few minutes and then started working again. it did this 4 more time on our trip from florida to maryland. on one occasion we were in traffic in virginia at 5 mph and it went out for about 10 minutes before working again.
I was driving my vehicle down the highway at approx. 30 mph and my dash started to beep stating that i had no power steering and i was unable to turn my steering wheel. i brought the car back to the dealership and they told me that it was all computerized and that it should not happen again. after i left the dealer and drove down the highway again my vehicle continued to loose power steering but only after the vehicle would accelerate. when i would come to a stop the computer message would go away and they vehicle was able to be turned and driven as normal.
At about 12900 miles, the car suddenly had problems for about 15 minutes after starting with maintaining power steering. a light on the dashboard would be lit and say that the power steering is unavailable and needed to be serviced and it would be out. then if would come on after a while and then might go out again for a time. i would be starting the vehicle in the morning after sitting all night and i would drive it, even when it was out because i had to go to work.
Was using park assist and the car did not park itself correctly and hit another car. while using park assist feature the car started to move too fast and the sterling wheel did not turn the car correctly. the car was moving so fast, there was no time to press the brake. in the result our car hit another parked car and jumped on the curb. in the result our rear bumper and rear door were damaged. we contacted chrysler right away to tell what had happened, the representative told us to contact our insurance and then insurance will do investigation. when we contacted our insurance the representative said that chrysler is the one who does the investigation. after that chrysler was contacted by us numerous times, each time different representative, each time some information was missing from the case that investigation team could not start to do their investigation. so, each time i spoke with the representative (i have their names) we were adding missing information, and creating new case number. it took almost a month for the investigator to contact us to do the car inspection. by this time the car was fixed thru insurance. after the inspection took place chrysler did not send us any solution or suggestion if park assist needs to be fixed. the only letter they send stating that since the car was fixed nothing they can do about this issue. so its unclear either all features in this car function properly. i think it's not fair that my insurance had to pay and made this accident as my fault
2018 pacifica has 218 miles on it. bought it 4 days ago. while driving down the road the power steering completely fails. when this happens van pulls hard to the right. this has happened 3 times. power steering service light, check engine light are both on. turning van off and restarting fixes the problem, for awhile. called dealership and was told " that doesn't make sense". taking it in first thing monday morning.
I have had my vehicle exactly 1 month. i have noticed when taking a sharp right or left turn going approx. 20mph, the steering wheel will rip out of my hand. today while driving straight going about 34mph my power steering was completely gone and i had a light flashing on the instrument panel to service power steering. i pulled off to the side of the road which was very difficult, turned my vehicle off and than back on and it had reset itself. not happy with less than 1,000 miles on this vehicle.
Minivan stalled seased operating as driving normal speed in motion on a city street tried restarting vehicle kept stalling automatically turned off could not turn wheel kept stalling shutting off while in normal operation could not brake could not accilatate screen said put in park to put in drive...check engine light was on
Tl* the contact owns a 2018 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled when it approached a stop light. the contact had to turn off and restart the vehicle to get it to operate. also, while driving 30 mph, the steering seized and the vehicle rolled to a complete stop in the middle of the road. also, "start stop required" appeared on the instrument panel. autonation chrysler dodge jeep ram southwest (7980 w tufts ave, littleton, co 80123, (303) 578-6099) stated that they would have to test drive the vehicle and try to replicate the failure. if they could not diagnose it in two days, they would have to return the vehicle to the contact .the manufacturer was called and immediately transferred the contact back to the dealer. the failure mileage was 8,000.
1- turn the van on. click on uconnect theater then shift to r or click the surround camera to activate the camera, click any bottoms to change the camera view, is not working. the screen freezing and not responding anymore. turn the van off for 2 hours. turn it on again, the camera options will work fine. click the uconnect theater again, go back to the camera or shift to r, the bottoms that change the views are not working and not responding. 2- put the usb flash to play movies. go to uconnect theater, it will read the usb and i can play movies. disconnect the flash and connect it again, it will not reading it anymore. turn the van off for 10 min. then turn it on, it will work again. once i disconnected and connect it again, it will stop reading it. software issues. (watch the video that i did (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc7o60khj4w) 3- on speed 5 or less, driving forward or backward, when i turn right, the steering will shake. sounds like rock and pinion or steering column issue.
On may 23, 2018 i was in route to work per normal. it was about 8:30 am. the car was stationary in the left hand turn lane (second from right lane) on a 6 lane busy city street waiting for a red light to turn green so i could turn left/north onto next street. the car was in drive with my foot on the brake. as the light turned green i took my foot from the brake to the accelerator and the car suddenly powered down. i put my foot on the brake, put in park, turned off the car, and then pushed start again. the car started but would not move out of park. i retried several times with no luck to get the car out of park and move forward. i put on my hazards as cars started to stack up behind me while i was motioning for traffic to go around me. i tried again to restart and while the car would restart, i could not move it out of park and was stuck there. with my hazards on, i called the police to assist and then tried to use my uconnect to reach my 'free' roadside assitance using my assist button. i got an error message multiple times that it would not connect. i found the 800 number and manually dialed myself. after about a 10 minute process i finally was able to order service via the text process that was sent to me. it took another 5 minutes before i received confirmation that tow truck was ordered. police arrived. i called back to determine how long tow truck would take to find it was 90 minutes. this was unacceptable due to my location and the traffic backup. i called my dealer directly and they sent service within 30 minutes. the dealer immediately received a call from chrysler star team (due to the roadside report i filed) and they had my car for one week. i have the car back now and there are no solid explanations as to why this happened. i know that chrysler was very involved in having dealer perform multiple tests. thankful i was not on freeway.
Driving at 45 mph in very light traffic, the power steering on the vehicle failed in 'turning traffic' making it near impossible for my wife to physically be able to correct the direction of the vehicle. she came to a complete stop as the vehicle was unresponsive with an error being reported on the driver information center located center/dash where the error reported was that there was a power steering failure and the vehicle should be taken to a chrysler dealer for immediate service. problem: power steering fails action taken: stopped, restarted and error message was no longer present. tried on 3 separate occasions to reproduce the issue without success. note: i have been unsuccessful in reproducing *bf *tt updated 9/20/18*jb
Power steering goes out while driving in service for second time with only 800 miles on it passenger front window rolls down while driving by its self passenger auto side door would open one day vehicle shut off and came to a complete stop in a parking lot with no notice or reason. *tt *tr
(1) power steering went out intermittently on the freeway and said it was unavailable and service was required (2)vehicle was hesitating when stepping on the gas (3) heater/air conditioner changed the level of air flow on it's own (4) window rolled down on its own. after i had it in the shop for 2 1/2 weeks, they didn't do any work to it and had me come pick it up. after driving it for 2 minutes, the power steering kept going out on me again. then i was stopped at a stop light and the car turned off and i had to put it in park and re-start it. when i drove it back to the dealership, the window rolled down again on its own. how could they give this car back to me knowing they didn't fix anything. i have children that i drive around in this vehicle. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle any longer. it is a brand new car. i've had it for 2 months. *tt *tr
I was passing a slow moving motor home on state road 19 ocala national forest . in the middle of my pass the engine cut off. i had enough speed to finish my pass safely and pull to the side of road. all the panel lights were flashing and the car would not restart. i called roadside assistance chrysler and after four hours the vehicle was towed to the nearest chrysler dealer. the car has been at beck palatka florida, chrysler since april first. they informed after five days that they were not equipped to handle repairs because of the new technology on this vehicle. i have now been informed that i will have to pay for towing from dealer in palatka to the st. augustine dealer. i feel concern for my safety driving this new chrysler hybrid if it can be repaired. we could have had loss of life had another vehicle struck our vehicle approaching head on. i had no acceleration in the middle of my passing, and with my wife and grandchildren in the car, this situation could have been tragic. my case number is 33839387 and i have been informed that it is going to be transferred to another person! please advise as to my next step in this process.
The car was put in drive and was driving at 20 miles an hour. suddenly the power steering was lost. the car would not turn and had to turn the car off and on again to fix the problem. the problem occurred again after 20 minutes. the steering was stuck and turning the car off and on again resolved it. i am worried it would happen again on the highway and am taking it to the dealer. *tt *tr
Bought vehicle on march 5, 2018, on the 2 hr drive home the cars main front center console starts rebooting and resetting over and over, the car then yanks us hard to the right and as i fight the driver assist mode to actually stay on the road, my husband and myself was plenty scared. we got the driver assist disabled, the heat was unable to be turned down, the steering wheel was so hot we had to put on gloves, the seat heat could not be shut down, we were with windows open in the snow, we had no choice. we attempted to restart the car, same functional issue. contacted dealership following morning, informing them they said get in in right away, we took to local chrysler on may 6th and they found nothing. they didn't believe us either. happens again immediately the day after being there, again we took it in, they wanted it to continue when we pulled in we were told, i said it keeps taking us off the road. the 3rd time was the same only we almost side swiped another van by the skin of our teeth. lucky we pulled hard and saved ourselves. it has now been at chrysler repair more than 5-6 times same exact problem, their same exact excuses, no fix. dealership where we purchased suggested we begin lemon law on it. i agree, i don't want to be the crash dummy. chrysler has been notified online, they were insistent it can be fixed, its been a month, and they have had the car more than us, and they have put 1000 miles on it too, where as we barely got 450 with ride home. i have made first payment and have a rental now, a junkie one! please help us, this car is dangerous, and will cause a serious fatality the way it steers off suddenly. it is a catastrophe waiting to happen. on board computers fail on and off.
Car shut off with the "put car in park and restart" message. it took 2 attempts to restart. car has only 795 miles on it. when the car shuts off there is no power steering creating a very dangerous situation. the car was stopped at a traffic light when this happened with the fuel saver option set to the off position.
