2017 chrysler pacifica. consumer writes in regards to defective cruise control feature. *ld the consumer stated the forward collision avoidance system was inoperable. *js

On long trips (generally greater than1 hour) the acc/fcw (adaptive cruise control/front collision warning system) system fails intermittantly (with or without the cruise actually being active) and the dash displays "acc/fcw unavailable service required". once having failed, the system cannot be reset while continuing to drive, but turning the engine off and restarting will reset it. losing these system presents a safety hazard as the fcw is not only a warning system but can actually stop the car in an emergency setting. losing the acc (adaptive cruise control) actually means losing all cruise control, which is not only annoying but can easily lead to exceeding speed limits and/or constantly checking the speedometer setting resulting in reduced driver situational awareness. the biggest problem is that the failure throws no codes that code readers at autozone or chrysler can see and chrysler service says there is no fix without a code. inability to diagnose and fix this important enhanced safety system is a safety failure at chrysler. note that the failure has occurred in a variety of situations--day/night/sun/rain/cloud/snow/dirty/clean/fast/slow.

Acc & fcw. mine did not work. the dealer had my car for 2 weeks. they had to contact the chrysler engineer & was told to replace & re-calibrate. so after being replaced it somewhat works. after the new parts, my car will still brake hard when a car in the adjacent lane is exiting (as if the car was braking in front of me). but, if a car changes lanes directly in front of me or slams on brakes directly in front of me my car doesn't react? chrysler has definitely fallen short on this function. i've owned vehicles where this function worked nearly flawless. chrysler says its as good as its going to get. another misrepresentation on this feature! i'm disappointed. chrysler claims the pacifica to be the quietest vehicle in its class. after driving it about 8 months now, i hate it. it's as noisy as a small car. "acoustically sound with its active noise cancellation (anc), subduing engine and street noise through white-noise wavelengths played through all speakers throughout the vehicle". the anc is in all trim levels. chrysler at this point doesn't even have a way to test the product to see if the anc is working! star tech support of chrysler is still trying to figure out how to test this feature!!! i had a chrysler customer service rep tell me that the anc was for my cell phone, lol, i was like are you sure you work for chrysler?? third, is the suspension and rear sway of the vehicle. when there are only 2 people up front it's not noticeable. but when we have 5-6 people it's noticeable. chrysler customer service tried to tell me i had the van over capacity. really! so my 7 passenger van was over capacity with 5 people (4 adults, 1 child, 3 luggage)? again are you sure you work for chrysler?? fourth, my key fob randomly loses connection. fifth, i had the a/c failure and my a/c had to be replaced. i have requested a buy back. too many misrepresentations. *tr

The fcw (forward collision warnings system) appears to have an issue. the unit have not warned ones while driving after 6000 miles (and we have had close calls) also tested as we had similar system on other cars. the dealer have looked at it but can't find any issue, even when the car system showed that it was an issue with the fcw, the dealers technician did not get any error cod when logged in to the cars on-board computer system. *tr

My local dealer (confirmed by fca llc) has told me that we cannot get the autonomous braking and lane assist on the pacifica touring trim level; only on the more expensive touring l-plus! these should be options on all trim levels so a family who wants safety more than fancy can spend their hard earned money on safety options and not be forced to pay $7000 more for fancy to be able to get more safety!!!! can you put pressure on them to offer the alp advanced safety option on lower trim levels?
