As i had my car serviced the mechanic told me my engine cradle is rusting out. *tr

I had the brakes repaired in 2012; the next month the abs light came on and the sensor was replaced. ten months later, the sensor light came on again. i was told it was insignificant, that the brakes are fine. in the fall of 2013, i had the car towed to a shop because it tried to accelerate while i was pressing the brakes. i spent over $800.00 having a bunch of codes cleared with the transmission and other things. the engine light was off for a few days but came back on. there was an error that read gas cap. i replaced the gas cap but the engine light remains on. in march 2014 the brake light came on, i was told that i needed to replace the calibers but later was told that i didn't. i had someone else to check and they said that i needed new front brakes. i had those replaced. on 4/7/2014, i was leaving the parking garage at the doctor's office and the gas pedal was stuck. lucky for me it was on a downhill slope and i was able to stop at the stop sign and put the car in park and press the accelerator to unstick it. today, april 13, 2014 the brake light is back on and there is a noise in the frontend. i love my car but it just does not feel safe to drive. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the pcm and fuel pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 150,000 and the current mileage was 151,000.

Reccall f44 (fuel pump module). this recall was for repair/replace of module due to fact that pacifica cars stall with faulty unit. my car has stalled numerous times. i took to dealer as instructed by recall letter. the dealer said they made repair. my vehicle continues to stall. dealer would not replace part again. i am stuck with a vehicle i cannot drive because it is unsafe to drive.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the motor bracket and the motor mounts fractured. as a result, the engine was mounted on top of the starter and ignited a fire. there were no injuries and a police report was filed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 115,000.

First began 11/2013 when headed out after picking up my daughter, slowed to enter left turn lane (on major busy intersection at night!) and entire car simply died - fried the battery (it was only a yr old & the second time i had replaced it since i purchased it two yrs prior from original owner) nearly was hit by several cars before tow truck arrived (so dead couldn't even be shifted into neutral!) after multiple opinions by several mechanics had to face the fact that issue w/rods caused metal pieces to infiltrate oil (all oil changes on time, previous before incident 6 week prior) causing all engine bears to go. luckily, was able to work out a fairly decent deal to the tune of $1200, only to be faced w/multiple additional needed repairs thereafter and over a year later, i'm still trying to get to the bottom of why engine totally stalls when coming to a complete stop if my a/c is on - check engine light has been on since i purchased it & still won't stay off despite multiple re-sets & computer checks, as is abs light (again, checked multiple times & since no issue i have left it as is) now battery light also comes on intermittently. all codes come back fine, and hoses & seals all fine.... as of two days ago, seems i'm now looking at engine cradle issue as well! nearly $3000 in (just counting these latest issues!) after replacing battery for a third time & tire replacement (all 4) twice within a year, in addition to breaks & rotors for 2nd time in 2 years ...seems to be a common problem w/these vehicles and yet my vin # isn't included in the recall...shame on you chrysler....i am a single mother, who has had all regular maintenance and upkeep & cannot afford to continue to throw $ into this issue, and am afraid every time my kids are in the car that the stalling issues will cause a horrible accident! *tr

There are holes and rust all over the engine cradle. i see that the 2004 and 2005 models have recalls on them and was wondering how to start action on this for 2006 models. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled and would not start. the failure was recurring. the battery was replaced over six times but to no avail. the dealer was not able to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, who diagnosed and replaced the computer and the engine. additionally, the contact stated that the air bag sensor, abs brake sensor and the service engine sensor illuminated after the vehicle was repaired. the contact had experienced multiple electrical failures and the air bag warning light was illuminated. the dealer was not able to replicate or diagnose the failure. the dealer advised the contact to remove all keys from the key ring except for the fob and keys. the dealer also replaced the ignition switch. the air bag sensor continued to illuminate and the local authorized dealer was notified several times of the failure, who advised the contact that the air bags would not deploy in the event of a crash. the vehicle was not repaired for the air bag sensor. the manufacturer was notified of failure. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

The vehicle was purchased june 11, 2013 and had the rear passenger tire replaced due to unfix-able flat tire. the dealer had me take vehicle to peerless tires co. the tire was replaced with wrong size and different brand of tire. traveling during thunderstorm approximately 3,5 weeks after purchasing vehicle; the computer appeared to lock when vehicle slipped on pavement as awd attempted to engage causing loss of steering and power then skidded off the road. i made claim through my insurance and had vehicle inspected by local shop, and i had my mechanic look to see if damage to vehicle was noticeable was not handling correctly after accident. when accelerates or decelerates the vehicle will lunge forward. took vehicle to peerless tire co. after mechanic pointed out the wrong size and model of tire on rear passenger side of vehicle. after accepting fault wanted to take vehicle to [xxx] paint and body to pay for the repairs. when the estimate was being done and vehicle was on lift...[xxx] and mechanic pointed out the whole motor carriage had completely rusted out and corroded. they had not seen anything like it. took vehicle back to dealer and explained this issue. had to go ahead with insurance claim and wait for adjustors to determine fault of accident.the vehicle is totally unsafe to drive, feels like the engine is tipping forward when accelerating or decelerating. after researching this issue im shocked and appalled that 2 previous model years have same issues which are not being addressed for the 2006. i don't want this vehicle repaired i want out from under it, since it was sold unsafe and is a recurring problem even after having motor mounts replaced and undercarriage treated or replaced. i expect more from mopar period. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

After starting the vehicle and engaging the transmission into reverse the vehicle engine failed. i then turned off the ignition and returned the vehicle to the park position. at this point i decided to try it again, only this time without the ac and stereo on. the vehicle started right up just fine and i let it idle for about 1-1.5 minutes to let the idle stabilize. (it was not real stable). i then put the transmission back into reverse and backed up maybe 2 ft and the engine failed again.(now i am in the road) i repeated my second attempt and let it idle 2-3 minutes, put it into reverse and it was shaky but stayed running and it drove fine after for several days. about a week later my wife told me that this problem had happen to her 2-3 times over a couple days time. i have had it happen 2 additional times and today i was having to put the vehicle into neutral when stopped or idling to keep the engine running for a short 20 mile drive home from work. i have read many forums as we consumers seem to be doing much more of, and this is not a new problem. it needs to be fixed. budget cuts, sequestration and furloughs are making things very tight for a lot of us out here and we depend on good quality transportation to get to the jobs we thankfully still have so that we can do our part to contribute the economic recovery of this great nation. do the right thing chrysler! *tr

We have a 2006 chrysler pacifica that we purchased used in 2008 with 26k miles. in 2011 we started experience problems. simultaneously, we came up with codes p0700, p0420 and p0456 and have had to have the transmission rebuilt , the catalyst converter replaced and new fuel pump due to the evap leak. in a matter of months, we spent $5,900 on repairs and in order for the car to pass inspection. we were still making payments on this car and after contacting chrysler repeatedly, we were told that they would not be responsible, so we were forced to make these repairs. after further research, we found that many pacificas had many of the same problems that we were experiencing and that chrysler refused to acknowledge the issues.we have had electrical problems with the power seats, bluetooth , side view mirrors. the electrical system shortens the life of the battery and we have had to replace the battery prematurely several times. now we need an abs sensor, and the car leaks in through the front window seals on both sides when it rains. we have just found out when we had the car in for a routine oil change, that our engine cradle(sub frame) is rusted and is a hazard to drive and will cost approximately $2,500 to replace! we just made our last payment on this car as we found this information out. we have also found out that many pacificas have this rusting problem and chrysler did acknowledge this for 2004 & 2005 models but not after. we are aware that there is a class action suit and want to be sure that the ntsa is aware of this. this is a family car and there may be many unsuspecting pacifica owners and their families out there who are at risk of injury or possibly loss of life. we feel that chrysler needs to warn all owners and implore them to have them bring their pacificas to the dealership free of charge to have it inspected and repaired for this hazardous issue.

During a routine inspection and oil change an automotive technician identified that the engine cradle (aka sub-frame) was severely corroded. the vehicle was examined by two other auto technicians and both confirmed that the engine cradle is corroded and that the vehicle is unsafe to operate. the vehicle is considered a safety hazard to both its passengers and other vehicles operating in the vicinity. the vehicle is considered to have zero resale value unless this is repaired. parts for this vehicle have been ordered and repair is schedule to occur within 10 days. estimated cost for repair is $4,000. a review of the nhtsa database for this model year vehicle indicates 6 complaints of an identical nature filed within the last 12 months. similar searches of other websites confirm that this is an evolving problem. pacifica models years 2004 and 2005 have well documented issues relative to corroded engine cradles and both model years have been recalled as a result. it is highly probable that the frequency of reported corroded engine cradles will increase as these vehicles age. a serious accident or injury may be the outcome in situations where this problem remains unchecked. this issue warrants additional investigation as it is becoming apparent that the problem encountered in the 2004 and 2005 models years is also surfacing in the 2006 model year. *tr

Rocker arm failure, requiring replacement on both sides. searched internet and is a known failure with many pacifica consumers. responsible car manufacturer should have recalled. safety hazard primary fuel pump crack on external fuel pump nozzle. external hose connecting primary and secondary fuel pumps original manufacture was ~3-5 cm too short. hose was stretched to connect fuel pumps, eventually causing the connector nozzle to crack (break) and leak fuel. hose replacement part has been modified, but owners of original manufacture would never be aware of this until/unless specific service is performed. result = costly repair to replace both fuel pump and hose.

After starting the vehicle and placing into reverse the vehicle immediately stalls. stalling has also occured while driving. in addition to this problem i have replaced the engine motor mounts 3 times. *tr

Mechanic identified that the engine cradle was rusting through and requires replacement since it could be a serious safety issue if it failed. even though this known defect has resulted in chrysler extending the warranty on 2004 and 2005 models, they will not cover the defect on 2006. *tr

My husband was on the hwy doing 55 when my car just went whew and lost all power, we had it towed to the garage where they told us the motor had a crack on both sides of it. the mechanic said he had never seen anything like it and had no idea what would have caused it. the car had just had an oil change the week before and had the required amount of oil, antifreeze in it. did this happen because of a possible defect? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that when the fuel tank was filled, it caused the vehicle to stall. the failure had occurred intermittently, however the failure had become permanent. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 113,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the rubber bushing engine mounts became worn, causing the engine to move while the contact was accelerating. the contact took the vehicle to have the engine mounts replaced. one year after the repair, the failure recurred causing the engine to move freely while the vehicle was not in motion. the contact towed the vehicle to the dealer to have the engine mounts replaced a second time. the failure mileage was 56,000.

My car started to jerk forward when i would accelerate from a complete stop. i also had to press hard on gas pedal because it would stick a little. finally took car in and it was a broken motor mount. not even 6 months later my car started to make a grinding noise and seemed to stick a little when i would accelerate. i took car back to shop and it is another broken motor mount. after speaking with the mechanic i learned that this is a very common problem in the pacifica, so much so that the motor mount i needed was on backorder for 3 weeks. *tr

I have very dangerous problem with engine cradle rust on my 2006 and chrysler refuses to provide any warranty help. vehicle only has 58,000 miles. chrysler has a 10 year 150k mile warranty on 2004 and 2005 for engine cradle rusting out. they refuse to explain why the '04 and '05 have extended warranty but the 06 is not, other than it is past 3 year mileage warranty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the engine frame failed. the contact notice brown water was releasing from the engine area. the contact inspected the vehicle and found the engine frame corroded with holes due to defective material. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have the engine frames replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 84,000.

We have had multiple issues with this vehicle since we purchased it. first issue was the cv boots that had completely disintegrated. this occurred 62,123 miles. next issue that is still occurring today and deeply concerns me is that the accelerator pedal sticks from time to time. not sure what causes that to happen but it scares the living day lights out of me on a weekly basis. shortly after that the check engine light came on and the panel read gascap. well we bought a new gas cap and the issue was not resolved. since then we were told it was the fuel pump that needed to be replaced. again, more money out of our pocket so unfortunately we have not had the repair done since we don't have the money to pay for it. next and biggest issue off all is that while driving down our street i heard a noise that concerned me. when i got home there was a tapping under the hood, the tapping has been continuous since then. the original mileage at that time was 85,625 miles. after multiple trips to several different mechanics it has been diagnosed as a tapping lifter. well this is a very very expensive repair. so easiest thing for us to do is to trade in our car....not the case. our car now has no trade-in value because of the lifter issue. i am beside myself and i firmly believe that these are all issues that chrysler should address under warranty. the maintenance on our vehicle is done on a regular basis to avoid issues like this. i feel quite cheated by chrysler and wish i could request a refund for all of the repairs we have had to do while owning this vehicle. *tr

Engine cradle rusted out, hole in it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the motor mounts fractured a total of three times. with the most recent failure, the lifters inside the engine were damaged, causing the vehicle to become inoperable. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and the current mileages were 102,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would made a loud noise and it stalled whenever shifted into reverse. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the motor mounts, torque struts, and brackets needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included on any recalls. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 132,750 and the current mileage was 132,833.

Engine mount broke. had it fixed and 3 weeks later it happened again. just bought the vehicle from carbone auto less than a year ago. i'm not rich and i just want a car i can drive. i cant keep replacing these. carbone auto knows the kind of vehicle they sold me and i trusted them. they seem like they don't care when i go there and they just say make an appointment. i cant keep taking time off for this on a whim. they sell you a car and don't care. chrysler took our money in a bailout,at least they can do is care about their customers. new or used vehicle. *tr

While in reverse in parking lot, car stalled causing loss of braking power and vehicle rolled into another parked vehicle. since incident, when vehicle is placed into reverse, vehicle immediately stalls. also, motor mounts have broken and this appears to be a big issue with the pacificas. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the front subframe and cross member were rusted. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine cradle needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also stated that while the vehicle on, there was a fuel odor and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, there was smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear, the lower front, and the front upper motor mounts needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,000.

Twice my car has froze up (car felt like it was in slow, stiff motion) while driving in the rain going about;1st time 20mph and 2nd time of issue 30mph. the battery light would come on with the ding sound to alert you and then it would freeze up while driving down a road and luckily in both incidents i was able to get over and out of the way of traffic. i would put that car in to park, shut it off, and turn it back on and it would drive normal again. four different mechanics has tested the car but can not find the problem to correct this issue. and in both incidents i had my 5 year old daughter in the car with me. if i would have been unable to get out of the way this would have been a different letter. also another issues is the back tailgate will not stay up in cold weather and has come crashing down on my head more than once. that is very painful and startling to have happen to you when you are putting groceries in your car. my children are not allowed to place anything in the back because i fear that they will be crushed and that also has been looked at my mechanics who can not find a plausible cause for this to happen either. *tr

My 2006 pacifica engine cradle has been rusting for several years and now needs replaced. i called chrysler a year ago. this is a common problem with pacificas. this is a safety issue and a structural defect. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the faulty motor mount was replaced. the failure recurred two years after the repair. the vehicle had not been repair for the most recent failure. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was unavailable.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and was able to be restarted. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump, water pump, cam shaft sensor, catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, timing belt, pvc valve, and multiple other parts needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. the contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 06v432000 (power train), but the vin was not included. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the driver's seat belt failed to function, the service engine indicator illuminated, and there was an internal leak emitting from the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 06v432000 (power train); however, the fuel pump module was not replaced. the technician was unable to determine where the vehicle was leaking. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer on several occasions, but the failure was unable to be replicated or diagnosed. the contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine the recommended repair solution. the approximate failure mileage was 147,000.
