We have classified the 176 complaints from 2005 Chrysler Pacifica about SUSPENSION into the following categories.
I have a 2005 pacifica. the car was in for body work, when a mechanic noticed severe rusting on the frame. he stated that the engine, could fall through the body frame! i did a google search and found hundreds of complaints about the problem. there is a story from a tv station in florida covering this story. http://www.nbcmiami.com/investigations/some-chrysler-pacifica-owners-say-they've-had-dangerous-corrosion-problems-with-the-popular-minivan-243624441.html. this is a engineering failure according to my mechanic, who stated they did not included enough drain plugs. my daughter drives this car and i contacted chrysler and they say it is past the warranty. this is unacceptable an engine should never be able to fall out of its mountings!!!!!! *tr
I just received a call from my chrysler dealer telling me my engine cradle has rotted out and there was a recall on this but my vehicle is not included in the build dates covered by the recall. in exploring for more information on the web i have found this is a known safety problem with these vehicles and people are basically driving around in time bombs. can you help me here and get chrysler to own up to this problem? the cost to me out-of-pocket will be $4500. *tr
I recently took my 2005 chrysler pacifica in to have the air conditioning system repaired and the mechanic called and told me that the engine cradle was rusted out and the car was not safe to drive. i did a quick google search and discovered that this is a known problem with pacifica's. according to the information that i found, chrysler originally distributed a letter indicating that it would cover 2004 and 2005 models only to send out a later letter drastically reducing the number of cars that would be covered on the extended warranty. it's apparent that this is a widespread issue. in 1998 ford recalled 2.6 million vehicles for a similar issue. chrysler should follow suit and do the same thing. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle lost power steering and there was a loud clunky noise under the vehicle. the vehicle was merged to the side of the road where he noticed that the suspension cradle was hanging under the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the technician has not been able to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
After taking our 2005 pacifica to a chrysler dealership to be looked at for rattling and knocking noises in the front end and complaints of the car sounding like it was going to fall apart, especially when driving over bumpy roads; i was advised that the engine cradle, subframe, sway bar links and frame bushings needed to be replaced due to rust and corrosion. the cost would be between $3000.00 and $4500.00. we were advised the car was very unsafe to drive. we asked the dealership to take pictures of the front end when they put it up on the lift. when we received the pictures via email, we were horrified by what we saw. we were grateful that we were not involved in what could have been a tragic accident had we not taken the car in to be looked at. we wondered why this happened as we have 3 other cars older than this car. they have been inspected and do no have this problem. after some investigating we have found out this is a common problem with this vehicle, year and make and chrysler is well aware of it, they have no plans to do a recall or advise owners of the problem, or at least not until there is a fatality or some horrific accident due to this faulty product chrysler is putting in their vehicles. we have lost all faith in chrysler.they must think very little of human life. *tr
Brought my vehicle in to my trusted local repair shop for a review and tune up and request to review rotors due to vehicle shake. when on the lift, it was discovered that the entire engine cradle was rusted to a point where it was barely attached to the vehicle. initial technical service bulletins published (12-001-10 in oct 2010) state that this condition could affect all 2004 - 05 pacificas. it was later superceded by the current bulletin 13-001-12 dated march 16, 2012 which limits affected population to an ~6 week range of vins, which my car does not fall under and i have been told that i am out of warranty. comparing photos to other complaints as well as the story on nbcchicago.com (see reference story below), my vehicle condition and the material defect is undeniably the same as what chrysler is currently considering as the "affected population" and is at a point where my vehicle has been considered unsafe to drive. this condition is extremely unsafe and i have been met with 4 months worth of arguments and side stepping from chrysler customer care at this time regarding acknowledgement of the material defect, the safety implications to myself, my family and other drivers of this model, and especially the $2,600 quote to replace the cradle and hardware at a chrysler dealership, which effectively scraps my vehicle. i am aghast that all of the complaints filed for this condition on this site and elsewhere have not resulted in a more through review of this clear trend from the nhtsa. references: http://www.nbcchicago.com/investigations/minivan-owners-want-chrysler-to-concede-rust-problems-241535881.html. *tr
I took my newly purchased 2005 chrysler pacifica to my mechanic to get the brakes serviced, and was told that the engine cradle was completely rusted out and the engine was in danger of falling out! my mechanic was extremely concerned (he is a friend and an honest mechanic who runs a very reputable repair and body shop in ottawa, ks). i called chrysler before i purchased the car to see if their were any recalls on it, and was told their was not. the car is otherwise in perfect condition, no damage and very little wear inside and out. it was clear to my mechanic that this was due to some defect in the vehicle, and should not happen on a 10 year old car that is in as good of condition as mind is with only 110000 miles on it. to have a new engine cradle put it, it would cost over $4000. i cannot afford that, so we are putting in a reconditioned one, inspected to make sure it has no wear or rust on it, and we are painting and putting additional undercoating on it as to prevent any such recurrences. after looking online, i have since learned this is a widespread problem, and is effecting a large number of owners, and is much more widespread than chrysler is willing to admit. i called them, and my car is supposedly not one effected in their 3-4 week window of production, yet it was completely rusted to the point of possibly causing a serious and even fatal car accident. *tr
Front engine cradle there was a letter sent by chrysler back in november of 2010 that "we are extending the warranty period on your front engine cradle because some vehicles operated in areas of high road salt usage, may experience engine cradle corrosion resulting in a driveability vibration and or shake. this engine cradle extended warranty coverage applies to chrysler pacifica model years 2004-2005." i have called chrysler twice and was told that my car is not in the serial number range and i just paid over $2450 to have my car repaired. *tr
There was a recall from chrysler made for 2004-2005 pacificas dealing with the engine cradle. they eroded and rusted through. thousands upon thousand of cars were recalled. they than revoked it for a 2 month recall span. this problem has been deadly and fatal and has affected thousands of families. chrysler refuses to fix the warranty that was organically wrote and sent out. they refuse to fix or acknowledge that the problem exist and is deadly for these people who drive the pacifica as their " family transportation". in the past month my 2005 pacifica has stalled out, died, had all roaders, breaks and control arms replaced. all new tires and now i find out my engine cradle has rusted out to where's its not drivable. now the radio stopped working, the air wont turn on if blinkers are all, the entire electrical body has crapped out and chrysler refuses to fix the problems they set the original recall for. there are thousands of people driving these cars with kids, what will it take for someone to fix this issue? death of thousands of kids? multiple accidents? *tr
The 2005 chrysler pacifica is known for the sub frame rotting causing a un-safe condition where the engine could fall out. i took my car to a local shop and they said my frame is all rotted out. i took my car into chrysler and it turns out it is not covered under a recall or extended warranty. what worries me is how many others are on the road with the same condition. *tr
I was driving on the highway going about 55 (mph) when i went over a pothole. after that my car started making a rattling noise. my mechanic checked the car and said it was the rack and pinion but then he discovered that the whole engine cradle was rusted and corroded and told me it was very dangerous for me to drive the vehicle until i made the proper repaired which is replacing the entire engine cradle. *tr
Vehicle brought in for state safety inspection. during visual inspection of vehicle, obvious hole in frame found due to rust/corrosion. vehicle is not covered under 6 week window chrysler corporation currently covers. vehicle is unsafe, fails state safety inspection and at this time owner will bear cost. *tr
Reference tsb 13.001-12, 2005 chrysler pacifica suspension service bulletin, and nhtsa action number 10044109. a letter was sent to some 2004-2005 chrysler pacifica owners that the front engine cradle and suspension mount frame was prone to corrosion problems. the warranty was extended to 15 years or 150,000 miles to owners in states that use road salt, cold weather states. we live in pennsylvania, which is considered a cold weather state. our pacifica was inspected in april 2014. we informed the station that we were experiencing some vibration in the front end of the vehicle. we were informed that the cradle assembly and mount was rusted through and because of safety issues they had to be replaced before it would pass inspection. the cost was $2,702.08. the vehicle had 122,638 miles, under the warranty threshold of 150,000. when we learned of this situation we called chrysler. they informed me that only pacifica's manufactured between a certain time frame were covered. they could not tell me the time frame, but our vehicle was not covered. to make matters worse, the new cradle assembly is exactly the same as the original part. no corrective actions have been taken to prevent the rusting. there are other cases similar to mine on the internet. state dmv?s are failing these vehicles for safety issues, they are unsafe to drive. how can chrysler ignore these serious safety issues? i am requesting full reimbursement of $2,702.08, plus request action be taken against chrysler so that all 2004-2005 pacifica's are repaired before serious accidents occur, if they haven't already.
We took our car in to locate a possible leak and while investigating the leak, our repair shop noticed a golf ball size hole and rust on the passenger cradle arm and reccommended us not to drive. after researching i have found we are not the only owners of the 2005 chrysler pacifica with this issue. *js
My mechanic informed me that the engine cradle on my car is completely rotted out and is a serious issue which is a fatality hazard. he gave me a copy of chrysler "extended warranty period" written notice for this issue for pacifica model years 2004-2005. i called them and they stated that i'm not covered because my car was built in 8/04 and not between 3/04-4/04. the notice does not state that the cars need to be built in a particular month. their statement makes no sense to me and i think they are lying. all of the signs of their notice is what i have have been experiencing for over a year, the "corrosion resulting in drivability vibration and/or shake." could you please help me i love my car but can't afford the repair cost and they need to stand by their awareness of the defect and written warranty coverge notice. the notice is labeled as "[xxx]". thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that there was an excessive rattling noise from the front end of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the upper and lower tie rods in addition to performing a front-end alignment. the mechanic also stated that the front sub frame was excessively corroded. the manufactured was made aware of the failure. the sub frame was not repaired. the failure mileage was 132,000. updated 06/10/14*lj updated 06/13/2014*js
I took my 2005 chrysler pacifica in for a oil change and safety inspection and was informed that my subframe/ engine cradle has rusted through and is no longer safe to drive the car is less than 10 years old...this is very unsafe as i drive this car everyday with 2 kids any help would be appreciated. the service agent working on my car said we were lucky it has not fallen out yet and had a serious accident. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving at speeds over 50 mph, a vibration was present. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered that the engine cradle and the sub frame had rusted. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 113,000. updated 06/27/14*lj the tie rods and lower control arms were replaced. updated 07/08/14
While i have heard some sounds from the suspension (front) for over a year, it was only this month (may 2014) that the problem was diagnosed. the engine cradle on my vehicle is rusted and has holes in it. per the mechanic, it is unsafe to drive until it is fixed (which he estimated as costing in excess of $1,000). after doing a little research, i contacted chrysler only to find out that they would not cover this defect since my vehicle was manufactured in may 2004 and they only cover it for 10 yrs/150k miles for vehicles manufactured up through march 2004 (if in the "salt belt"). so while they acknowledge this specific problem, they would not apply the warranty because my manufacture date is two months beyond their cutoff date. talking to auto mechanics and searching online seems to reveal that this is a significant problem with older pacificas. based on this information, i strongly believe that chrysler should cover a defect like this since it is likely widespread (if not issue an actual recall like toyota did on their tacomas for rusted frames a few years ago). i do have a case number with chrysler now in which they noted my problem. i won't include that number here because this is a public record. *tr
Took vehicle to mechanic for routine maintenance. upon inspecting the underside of the vehicle the subframe of the vehicle is rusting and has holes some as large as three to four inches in diameter. *tr
Subframe rusted out completely. my mechanic found it in a routine check. unsafe to drive. *tr
Was having oil changed when tech called my attention to the subframe having holes and corrosion.i live in a salt state (ohio). *tr
Nhtsa please notice how many people have submitted this problem. over 50 just since this january. subframe corrosion to the point the mechanic didn't even think it should be driven home. engine, transmission, front wheels could all fall at any moment. why hasn't anyone done anything about this? i see over 50 people have complained about this very problem since only this january. luckily we noticed it, hate to think of all the other pacifica drivers out there that have no idea the danger they are in. what will it take? one death? two deaths? how many people, chrysler? this is obviously a major problem and needs to be fixed at no cost to the consumer. who has $2500 to repair their car? not us. will be contacting chrysler to no avail i'm sure but worth a try. *tr
Our regular mechanic has determined that the undercarriage of my car is rusted and rotted to the point where it is unsafe to drive . car was brought in due to electrical failure as mentioned above . i have never received recall notices . i spoke with a chrysler rep today and there is nothing we can do because its not with in the recall time frame . *tr
While operating my 2005 chrysler pacifica limited edition i heard a loud clunking, popping, sound coming from my front end, which was exacerbated when i turned either left, or right. also, i have a constant shaking which i feel through my steering wheel, which becomes more pronounced while i am braking. anytime i drive over any type of bump, pothole, or even just an uneven road surface it clunks. it sometimes makes a clunking sound even when i am operating on an even road surface. as i start pulling away from a stopped position, i often feel, and hear a jerking & lugging, which sounds like the engine is moving around inside the sub frame (engine mounts). i brought the vehicle to a local independent mechanic who informed me that the sub frame was so rotted, that the control arm has pulled off of the sub frame. he also stated that the part of the sub frame that holds the engine in place, is so rotted that the engine could actually break free from the vehicle, and could result in a serious crash. he showed me several holes, where the sub frame has actually rotted completely through, and i am able to see out the other side of the metal. he said that it would cost me thousands of dollars to replace the rotted parts. i am a stage 4 terminal cancer patient, and need my vehicle to travel back & forth, 60+ miles, for the treatments necessary to keep me alive. i am not able to work, and therefore cannot afford to pay the costs required to repair, and/or replace the rotted parts on my vehicle, as well as the damage that the rotted parts have caused to other parts of my auto. i had another mechanic check my vehicle, for a second opinion. he told me that there is no way that this is normal wear, rusting, or rot, for a vehicle that is not even 9 years old. he said exterior body panel rust, or rot could be very possible, but definitely not rot in the sub frame. *tr
I have a 2005 chrysler pacifica and i was experiencing problems with a clicking noise and shifting coming from underneath the front end of my car. upon inspection by my mechanic it became clear that the "engine cradle" or subframe was completely rotted through with visible corrosion. upon further investigation, i discovered that this "engine cradle" corrosion problem has been acknowledged by chrysler and an extended warranty was issued to repair this part for 2004 and 2005 pacifica's. extended warranty letter id is: 0004617/#45543/x26...however, when i contacted chrysler, i was informed that based on the vin # of my car, i did not qualify for chryslers extended warranty for this issue, the letter chrysler issued for this extended warranty clearly states that it covers 2004-2005 chrysler pacifica's, and even though i fall within the model year, geographical region, and the 10yr/150,000mile guidelines of extended warranty, chrysler claims that my 2005 was not manufactured within some narrow manufacturing window to qualify for this extended warranty.
Excessive rusting of engine cradle. possibility of front end of subframe falling out of the car. *tr
Found out in december 2013 getting tires, that engine cradle had serious rust and to watch it. engine light came on in january 2014, and car needed transmission work. mechanic took frame off and it rained rust particles from the horribly corroded engine cradle frame. called chrysler, wanting to speak with supervisor. i was told that a supervisor would call me within 24 hrs. never happened. called again a week later, and that operator found out my original message was never delivered to a supervisor. and now i"m waiting again for 24 hrs for someone to call me. *tr
My chrysler pacifica was diagnosed with a bad engine cradle, cradle is rusted, has a long rust hole about 7 inches long, will need a cradle replacement, frame is unsafe. some 04's-05's were recalled for same problem, mine wasn't included in the recall for some reason, i'm having the same problem everyone else is. contacted chrysler and said there wasn't anything they could do for me, its definitely a safety issue. *tr
I took my car into the local dealership and they told me my front subframe is rusted out and unsafe. they said there was a tsb 13-001-12 that may apply since this a common problem. however due to the mileage it was not covered. this is a safety item that is present in these vehicles which has been documented by the news and all over the internet. this condition can lead to crashes and possible death.i contacted chrysler and they told me there isn't anything they can do. when i was notified about the issue at around 145k miles, there was only a small pin hole in the center of the cradle. at 168k miles there is a hole you can put your fist in. this is a major suspension component, not something subjected to normal wear like a tie rod. i would fully expect to pay for a tie rod, rack and pinion or ball joints. this is different, a major structural component. my vehicle is in good shape and i plan to keep it for the next 5 years. but with the cost of the subframe and the miles it is worthless. this is an issue that needs to be looked into. hopefully it doesn't lead to too many deaths before something is done. *tr
I have had my vehicle since 2008. i took it in for a oil change and was told that the subframe/engine cradle was rotted and unsafe. i live in oh. and was told by chrysler, since my vehicle was originally sold in az. that it is not covered to have the engine cradle replaced. the vehicle is a 2005 and have been in a "salt state" for 5 years. i located a letter online that was sent out and it doesn't state where the vehicle was purchase would be covered, but place of operation. to me 5 years of oh winters and salt has been the place of operation. after searching out the problem concerning the engine cradle, i have found that it has been a big problem. *tr
Own a 2005chrysler pacifica limited fully loaded whichwas purchased new. the car was built in august 2004. i took it in for inspection in december 2013 and it was discovered the engine cradle supporting the engine was badly corroded and would need replaced to pass inspection and is a safety issue. chrysler has acknowledged this defect in cars made in a 6 wk period and awarded an extended warranty to these vehicles but not mine.. this is a design flaw in the cheap material used in production and i should given the extended warranty. my wife and grandchildren were at risk while driving it and didn't know it i am a decorated veteran and will be contacting the president, mrs obama and initiating a class action lawsuit and the local newschannel.. i have no choice but to fix it but seek reimbursement for the extended warranty.chrysler needs to own up and do the right thing before some lives are lost. core values: integrity first, service before self & excellence in all we do! you don't want to end up like gm do you? *tr
Numerous complaints from owners of chrysler pacifica (2004 - 2005). the sub -frame of the vehicle was not treated properly for rust or corrosion. the motor mounts to the sub-frame and if the sub-frame is compromised the engine could drop down and destroy all braking and steering capabilities; as well as, catastrophic issues including death. what does it take for chrysler to realize that this is a problem. how does chrysler issue an extended warranty and then rescind the letter. corporate greed at its best. this is a "family vehicle" that we afraid to drive because you do not know when the sub-frame will "give-way" and possibly kill everyone in side or someone else. can i get some help!! please !! *tr
I wanted to bring to your attention a safety condition with certain years on the chrysler pacifica. many of the pacificas engine cradles are severely rusted; to the point of if a break occurs the engine will fall out of the vehicle. this issue is mainly on years 2004-2005. (i own a 2005 model with severe rusted engine cradle.) the estimated cost of this repair is between $2,500 and $3,000. i have contacted chrysler several times about this safety issue, the 1st time was nov of 2013 with the most recent being 4/1/2014. chrysler just says ?we?re looking into it?. (ref case# 24293830) i have contacted the minnesota attorney general who sent a letter to chrysler, but they declined coverage on my pacifica. i have also filed a complaint with the national highway traffic safety administration. chrysler has acknowledged this issue by extending the warranty on certain build dates, (see letter below): checkout an nbc news report on this issue: www.nbcchicago.com/investigations/minivan-owners-want-chrysler-to-concede-rust-problems-241535881.html. my vehicle has been diagnosed by two mechanics, one of which is roseville chrysler-jeep. and both agree that the engine cradle must be replaced. my vehicle is in perfect condition. the rusted engine cradle would never be noticed by a common person. someone could have this issue and not know it unless a mechanic would happen to notice it. luckily mine did! in light of the recent gm issues with ignorance of the power steering issue i would think that chrysler would try and get ahead of this serious safety issue. When driving the vehicle it shakes on passenger side some awful, scary too feels like its gonna fall down on the street or the tire is gonna fall off. *tr
On november 12th 2013 , i took my 2005 chrysler pacifica to be inspected. i was told the vehicle could not pass inspection since the front sub frame was rotted and the vehicle should not be driven. i was also told rear sub frame bushings and the frame itself was weak. the car only has 127359 miles on it. this is unreal !!!!!!! i called chrysler to no avail. i was wondering has anyone thought class action suit ?? *tr
Vehicle was submitted to authorized new york inspection station for yearly state-required inspection. vehicle failed inspection. inspector cited multiple holes in the "cradle" frame member supporting engine, steering, and suspension parts. "cradle" was completely perforated in several places by corrosion, and showed signs of additional corrosion which would ultimately lead to more holes. cradle was judged structurally compromised. inspection station consulted ny dmv and it was determined and reported to me that vehicle is unsafe, and that replacement of cradle would be required to return vehicle to service and to pass new york state inspection. it was explained to me that a minor impact -- such as encountering a pothole at speed, or hitting an object with the frame or body of the vehicle -- could cause collapse of the front end structure of the vehicle, loss of steering control, loss of the engine from the engine compartment, collapse of the suspension system, and potential resultant fire, explosion, and injury or loss of life to occupants of vehicle or others in the vicinity. *tr the consumer stated the vehicle left his wife stranded. she was unable to steer or brake while driving many times, the previous year. on one occasion while driving, the engine light illuminated, and the vehicle just stopped, leaving his wife in the middle of the road. the consumer replaced a faulty sensor. updated 03/27/14
While in for repairs, our mechanic diagnosed that the engine cradle of our 2005 chrysler pacifica touring awd sports tourer 4-dr has rusted almost completely through and advised that the vehicle is unsafe to drive without immediate repairs. according the mechanic, the engine cradle supports both the engine and the front steering/suspension assembly components, that could cause the driver to lose control upon failure, and cause a crash. after conducting research on various websites, i found that numerous consumers/owners of pacifica models manufactured between 2004 and 2006 are reporting this issue and chrysler is aware of this specific problem and listed it as a possible defective part. in response, chrysler has issued an extended warranty, limited to certain states (which they refer to as 'salt belt states") covering repairs for this problem. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where we purchased it, examined and submitted a request to chrysler for coverage, which was denied. we were told that our vehicle was not covered because we did not live in one of these defined "salt state zones". despite offering to provide evidence from kydot and local county transportation offices verifying that our area does in fact experience a high volume of roadway salt use, chrysler continues to deny extending any coverage for the affected vehicle. given the seriousness of the problem, and the large number of consumers potentially affected, i would ask that nhtsa & odi conduct an independent investigation and negotiate with chrysler to broaden the coverage to include any pacifica exhibiting signs of this defect. *tr
Started when backing and turning wheel to left a clunk occurred and left wheel felt 'stuck'. thought it may have had something to do with the extremely frigid temperatures of the season. a short time later i felt clunking under my feet when driving over dips or bumps at any speed. for some i thought it was again the idler arms or ball joints as i have had many many suspension repairs. oddly it was never mentioned by anyone at this chain repair shop that the engine cradle was of any concern. i did bring my car in to a different chain repair shop for a determination of the clunking problem and was shown when putting the transmission into reverse the engine fell way down then was shown the very rusted out engine cradle and given an estimate of $1800.00 for repair with a used cradle. i then took the car to an independent repair shop to verify the need of the cradle..the charges to be slightly less. i called chrysler and was told the car had to be taken to a chrysler dealership repair shop for an estimate but that it was already known that there would be very little to no benefit. however if there was any monetary benefit it would not begin to cover any of the repair cost. by the way, the right rear quarter panel and lift door are rusted also. when i purchased the car 3 1/2 years ago the rust was beginning-i can now stick a finger thru the rust on the quarter panel. have seen only one other pacifica with surface rust. it's very embarrassing to me as not many cars on the road have any rust at all. are my young passengers safe?? i am stuck with this money and possible death trap. i still have 1 1/2 years of payments. bummer. *tr
We bought our 05 pacifica a couple months ago used we were aware of the engine cradle being lose we then found out it was corrode out on the right side of the motor and steering rack problem and was wondering if there is a recall on either of these items we see that alot of 05 have the same problem were can i take my car to get it fixed. *tr
I have a 2005 chrysler pacifica and i was experiencing problems with a "clicking noise" coming from underneath the front end of my car. upon inspection by my mechanic it became evident that the "engine cradle" which holds up engine was completely rotted through with about 80% of visible corrosion (i really wish i could actual attach pictures of corrosion provided to me by my mechanic). upon further investigation, i discovered that this "engine cradle" corrosion problem has been acknowledged by chrysler and an extended warranty was issued to repair this part for 04 and 05 pacifica's. extended warranty letter id is: 0004617/#45543/x26...however, when i contacted chrysler, i was informed that based on the vin # of my car, i did not qualify for chryslers extended warranty for this issue (10 yrs or 150,000 miles) - the letter chrysler issued for this extended warranty clearly states that it covers 2004-2005 chrysler pacifica's, and even though i fall within the model year, geographical region, and the 10yr/150,000mile guidelines of extended warranty, chrysler claims that my 2005 was not manufactured within some narrow manufacturing window to qualify for this extended warranty. in closing, unfortunately, due to financial constraints, and the costly nature of this repair (2-3k), i have no choice but to drive this car the way it is at the moment - i do understand that it is clearly unsafe to drive this car and it probably shouldn't be on the road - however, i do have a valid state inspection sticker from previous year, so my car is "legal to drive", and i really have no choice but to continue to utilize this car until i can come up with a resolution (all i can do at this point is keep my fingers crossed and pray that i don't cause any harm to myself or anybody else). what should i / can i do to next? can you please help me and advise accordingly. thank you sincerely [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Was informed by our mechanic that the front crossmember/engine cradle/k-frame had rusted through and that this was a common problem with this make/model/year vehicle. chrysler issued a recall due to this defect, but it only covered manufacturing dates up to march 31, 2004 and our vehicle was manufactured in june of 2004. i have seen that this continued to be a very common problem with vehicles after the march manufacture date and called chrysler to see what could be done as this is a very expensive repair of a known issue that had been recalled on other vehicles. chrysler stated that this was not covered by recall and there was nothing they were willing to do to assist us. *tr
I recently took my 2005 chrysler pacficia to the shop to have the pulleys changed on the engine for the serpentine belt, and new tires and alignment. when the car was on the lift, my mechanic pointed out to me that the engine cradle is rusted and will need to be replaced at a cost of $5000. the car only has 94k miles on it. this seems to be a wide spread issue. i am the 2nd owner, the 1st was a lease through chrysler and i purchased the car from a local chrysler dealer in 2008. going to start contacting chrysler and the attorney generals office in ma to see what can be done since there is no recall on this. *jb
Last year at time of inspection my repair guy said the subframe looked good - he had seen a lot of complaints about them lately. this year is a whole different story - the subframe is rusting out even though my car has the electronic rust inhibitor installed since i bought in 2007. i called to check my vin and of course no recalls are listed. for the amount of complaints you would think that they would revisit this issue. *tr
I took my pacifica in to get the tires rotated and was told i had a cracked frame and they would not rotate them. i checked to see if i had a recall and i did not. now i have a car that is worth less than what it would cost to fix it. judging by all the complaints this is a serious problem and i am just thankful my family didn't get hurt because of it. i was told the subframe hold the engine so it is not safe to drive because of the crack. *jb
Car was taken to local repair shop for minor front end work. mechanic reported that there was rusting of the cradle and that it would have to be replaced. cost estimated @ $2,000. spoke to dealer and chrysler customer service and was told that the service bulletin covered cars made 2/23/2004 through 3/31/2004. mine was made 3/14/2005. this was an executive car that i bought used with 18,000 miles on it. now has 126,000. there are many complaints about this issue and it does not seem credible that the problem stopped on 3/31/2004. i have been a loyal chrysler customer so, maybe that will help based upon some other items i have read. *tr
Subframe corrosion - rust. *tr
2005 chrysler pacifica 107000 miles rusted engine cradle. garage kept and serviced only at a chrysler dealership, service dept never told me the engine cradle was extremely rusted and cracked. after several calls and emails to chrysler corporation they refused to work out any financial assistance on repair bills.*jb
I just bought the car end of may 2013,when ever i hit speeds 45 or above i get shaking from front end.brought to garage had tires balanced, still did it so i went back. had all 4 tiers rotated and balanced.seemed better but as my speed increased and more i drive it gets worst.i feel very unsafe driving,it feels like wheels are coming off.i do a lot of driving and with my dogs and grandchildren almost daily.can't afford to fix expensive issue when making weekly payments on my new/used car. at a loss of problem and resolving it.can i bring it to manufacturer or garage and make chrysler pay for the problems from what ever the obvious defects are? *tt
Violent shaking of 2005 chrysler pacifica. took 2005 chrysler pacifica in for inspection and was told the engine cradle crossmember was rotted and the bolts that hold the power steering rack and engine up were missing. mechanic told me he would not release the 2005 chrysler pacifica back to me because it was unsafe to drive. called chrysler and they told me they would do nothing to repair it. *js
