I have a 2005 chyrsler pacifica. the gas pedal is sticking. it sticks hard enough that you have to forcefully push the accelerator peddle down. this causes unwanted rapid acceleration! the problem is getting worse in the past three weeks. the pedal has gotten stuck four times. i was backing out of a parking space and the car accelerated in reverse. unsure, if my family car is safe, for my family. *tr
I own a 2005 pacifica touring edition. a couple months ago it stalled out and said i was out of gas. i figured someone might have suffered the gas from my tank so i went and filled up and it only took 7 dollars of gas. tank read half tank. within 50 miles, car stalled and said it was empty again. went to gas station again and it only took 12 dollars of gas. the last straw was i was on the interstate and it stalled in the fast lane going up hill. we almost got hit by a tractor trailer. we drifted back into median and had car towed to the shop. they said nothing is wrong except for the fact i was out of gas but they could not find any leaks. i left there went to gas station, only a mile away, and it took 3 dollars to fill it up! this happens on a frequent basis and every shop says there is nothing wrong. obviously there is something wrong! i read other reports with the same problem! so what can be done to fix problem? why hasn't chrysler recalled the fuel pump or whatever is causing the problem??? if this doesn't get fixed soon, someone is going to be seriously injured or killed by their car stalling! please fix this problem chrysler! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated when braking or when coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would stall without warning. in addition, the fuel level gauge would read inaccurate fuel levels. the dealer advised that the vehicle was not under recall and would not provide any further assistance. the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. the failure mileage was 102,000 and the current mileage 102900.
I just took my 2005 chrysler pacific in due to the gas pedal sticking. the gas pedal would stick and i would have to press on it hard in order for it to work. this would happen almost everytime i started up my car. the service person stated that there was some type build up due to wear and tear on the vehicle. i only have 42,000 miles on my car. i paid for the repair (approx $190) because my warranty didn't cover the problem. i can't believe that at 42,000 this would happen. *tr
Periodic(very often) gas pedal gets very hard and does not push down. have to apply lots of force ,for it to work properly. this happens very often. *tr
Sticky accelerator pedal 2005 chrysler pacifica. no easy way to accelerate out of full stop. *tr
I own a 2005 chrysler pacifica. after filling the vehicle with fuel, the car will surge, lunge, and sometimes die. this happens every time the fuel tank is filled. i have had the vehicle in to service it more than 4 times, the latest time the dealer has had it over a week and cannot find the problem. the gas tank has been replaced, all fuel lines cleaned, pistons cleaned, fuel pump replaced, software flashed. all recalls have been performed. this is a major life/safety hazard, as the last time it happened i was turning left against traffic. *tr
Accelerator sticks badly requiring very heavy foot pressure to break loose, causing vehicle to jump forward. *tr
I have a 2005 chrysler pacifica touring edition awd with approximately 48,000 miles. this past week, my vehicle started stalling at stops. after my spouse took it to a car repair facility, they could not find any codes. she stated she had 1/2 tank of fuel showing. i had to rent a trailer to pick the vehicle up and drop it off at the dealer. when i started the vehicle the fuel gauge went from 1/2 to empty. i dropped it off at the dealer and they performed the repairs for the stalling problem. when i picked up the car, the service technician told me they had to put $10 dollars of fuel in it cause it was showing empty and that the tank low fuel light was on. according to the trip indication of fuel mileage, it said i had 18 miles until empty. i started the car and the fuel gauge went to 1/2 tank! okay problem here!! i had the technician put it back on diagnostic and showed no codes and fuel quantity was at 18 miles left according to the computer. i went straight to the gas station and attempted to fill the tank, it only took 6.73 gallons and would not take any more. i called the dealer and they said it was the tank sending units (2ea) that would have to be replaced. looking at other complaints, we all have a problem with this model and year. *tr
First noticed gas gage suddenly dropped from 3/4 tank to empty, low fuel warning and check engine light came on. fuel gage would again rise up to full then drop to empty. called dealer who asked for my vin number and told me my car was not subject to recall. gas gage is no longer functioning at all & i have no idea how much gas i have in my tank - i'm unable at this point to afford the repair. new problem has arisen, yesterday and today my car has stalled, causing me to engage park and restart my engine. first time i was going up a small hill and this morning i was maneuvering around a round about. seems very similar to other reports on this particular model and those who have registered a complaint. *tr
I have a 2005 chrysler pacifica that has a stalling problem. at slow speeds it stalls out on me and on the highway when traffic slows down. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while driving 65 mph, the fuel gauge went from half a tank to empty. the contact stated that the vehicle would not accept fuel. the check engine light illuminated and the headlights were inoperable. the dealer stated that the fuel pump and wiring harness caused the failures. the fuel pump, headlight bulb, and the wiring harness were replaced; however, the failures continued. the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v066000 (exterior lighting: headlights) and nhtsa campaign id number 06v432000 (powertrain: automatic transmission control module (tcm, pcm)). the failure mileage was 68,000 and current mileage was 69,000. updated 03/14/08. *lj the consumer stated the fuel gauge was not reading properly
Vehicle fuel indicators very erratic, shows full tank then quickly drops to empty showing no miles to empty and car stalls out. dealership replaced fuel pumps and problem persists. keep gas tank above 1/2 to avoid stalling. dealer does not know what to do. referring them to safety recall f44 ? fuel pump module and/or reprogram pcm (does not apply to this vin allegedly). waiting on response. *tr
Headlamp failure, causing replacement several times since purchase in 7/05. sluggish driving/acceleration, accelerator sticking. *ak
Tl* - the contact called received recall notice 06v432000 . she stated that repair was done on 12/18/06 for the fuel pump. the contact states that on 12/19/06 the vehicle wouldn't start. the vehicle was towed by aaa to dealership, the dealership told her that the replacement fuel pump was defective, and they replaced it again. the contact stated that on 12/22/06 after 2nd replacement she was driving at a speed of 80 mph when the vehicle lost power, there was no indication or warning lights. the contact was able to pull the vehicle off to the side of the road, she turned off the ignition switch and turned it back on, and the vehicle started up. *ak
Rick hendrick jeep/chrysler, north charleston, sc did not perform the necessary job duties to remedy the safety recall of the fuel pump on my 2005 chrysler pacifica. the dealer had my vehicle for 4 days, but the recall was not properly corrected which caused major danger to myself and my family! i first began to smell gas on tuesday evening after i filled my gas tank and continued to smell excessive gas on wednesday so i called the service department. i was told to bring my vehicle back to be checked out, but they claimed nothing was found! so i returned home on their word. the very next day, thursday, i proceeded to fill my gas tank again to take a road trip out of state that evening, but as my tank was filling so was the ground of the gas station...i was very upset at this point!!!! i called rick hendrick's service manager who didn't exhibit any remorse for my endangerment! i was quite irate at this point because i felt endangered and was suppose to be on my way out of town, but could not leave due to rick hendrick's service department lack of responsibility to take care of me as a customer satifactorily! i told the s.m. that i wanted to be compensated for the two gas fill-ups that i had lost due to their problem, but he did not compensate me! my vehicle and myself was towed to the dealer, and finally they found that they were at fault...not myself! they did not put the correct seal on my vehicle, therefore, the gas was leaking out! i was not treated satisfactorily once i arrived at the dealer. this was a total inconvenience traveling 50 miles each time for their problem! i want compensation, and a formal apology from rick hendrick! i also contacted the general manager who has never called me back regarding this matter, therefore, i will seek other recourses. i will definitely not recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle from there, and i have decided not to give them my business any longer!
Fuel gauge drops to empty with only 16 out of 23 gallons in tank used. refilled several times, same result. today while parked downhill, gauge read completely empty (still had approximately 7 gallons) would not start as if out of gas. once on an upslope gauge went to 3/8. could not start on down slope. *jb
For the last two months my car has not wanted to start on the first try. always have to turn the key a second time. this happens first thing in the morning since the car has sat all night. also, my fuel gauge is not reading appropriately to the level of gas in the tank. at approximately a 1/4 of a tank the gauge instantly goes to empty. i put in 2 gallons of gas and miraculously the gas gauge reads 1/2 tank. now those who own a pacifies know that two gallons does not fill your tank half way. this morning my fuel gauge read 3/4 tank and my od read approx. 111 miles for the trip thus far. i wanted to fill it up but the car would only take in 2 gallons. turned on the car the fuel gauge did not move from 3/4 tank. drove 25 miles and somehow my gauge read almost full. i have also noticed that at time when i step on the gas pedal my car does not seem to speed up. it is almost as if i was in neutral. i have brought my car back to the dealer on two occasions and have another appointment scheduled and they tell me that they can not duplicate the problem. they claim the car starts fine for them, even if left overnight. also, they claim to have syphoned gas out of my tank and the gauge reads appropriately to the amount of gas that was in the tank. approximately a year ago my car did stall as i was taking a left hand turn at a low speed. i immediately contacted the dealer and was told they it normal for a car to occasionally do that. these are very serious and potentially dangerous incident as i have my toddler with me in the car most of the time. *jb
Purchased the car six weeks ago and it has 2,500 miles on it. i was making a left turn onto a busy exit entering a major highway (route 1n) and the car stalled and steering wheel locked. i have a four year old and a two year old. thank god they were not in the car with me. no accident occurred. the dealer appointment is in five days at which they will test drive the vehicle with me to try to recreate the situation. *jb
Since of october of 2005 my chrysler pacifica 2005 touring has stalled numerous times. one particular incident i remember is when i was make a permissible u-turn and the vehicle stalled. fortunately for me there was not on-coming traffic and i placed the vehicle in park and restarted the ignition. the stall issues complete power failure in the vehicle. the engine is very loud at low speeds and idles. currently the fuel gauge is reading incorrectly. according to epa estimates miles on a tank is 393 miles, the gauge reads 301-312. also, the vehicle around november started to experience difficult cold starts. initially i attributed that to cold weather, however the problem has become persistent. the was an accident in january 2006 with my wife at the wheel but i has yet to be determined if it was due to vehicular or driver error. while i am not a professional auto mechanic or ase certified, my opinion is that this is an issue with the vehicles intake and possibly a misfire of the pistons. i have submitted the vehicle to a chrysler facility for
Sticking gas pedal on 2005 chrysler pacific. *tr
2005 chrysler pacifica has stalled 4 times. each time the vehicle had been brought to a complete stop at a stop sign, then the vehicle stalled. vehicle was put in park and restarted. i noticed that each time the vehicle had approximately 1/4 tank of gas or less. the last two times it stalled i put $7 of gas in the vehicle and the gas gauge showed 1/2 tank. obviously this is not likely as it takes approximately $50 to fill the tank. after approximately 45 miles the gas tank gauge went from 1/2 tank to 1/8 tank in the blind of an eye. also, vehicle was only getting approximately 200 miles for a full tank. vehicle is currently at the dealership, however, at this point the dealership is saying that they cannot "recreate" the situation and have a call in to chrysler to see if they can advise further.
Poping noises at front end on driver and passenger sides, while turning at slow speeds going forward and backing up. also filled up gas tank, "mileage/guage till empty" was 344, drove one mile and it went to 243. it is currently in the shop again, they are waiting on a part "shaft" to replace it. they usually don't have old parts available because it is still under warranty.
