Have 2004 chysler pacifica having issues with fuel system truck drives then sputter shuts off take long time starting up also over heats no reason trucks shifts into gear 2 but don't go speed think i'm going transmission slips can be riding up street shuts off on me shifts into drive with rpm saying 2
When fueling gas pump automatically shuts off not letting gasoline into fuel pump. when half a tank of gasoline is left in car it automatically goes down to empty on fuel gauge. egr valve problem, rpm too high when idled, feel like car slows down on own when driving on highway. engine light on with p0507 code: idle air control system rpm higher than expected and p1861 fuel line disconnected
Gas gauge needle drops to empty when it gets to the half tank mark. i have had the car stall as if out of fuel when it still has half a tank of gas. i am constantly having to add fuel to the tank and it is slow going, because the nozzle constantly shuts off from fuel bubbling out. if the car is parked on a sideways slope, the fuel needle will go back up to the accurate amount, but once on flat land goes back to empty. i can't remember the last time i was able to drive from full tank to low fuel light without refueling. specs may show 14 gal. tank, but in truth, only 7 or so gal. is all that it operates on.
While going down the highway at 70mph to pick up my son from school the vehicle stopped accelerating (just after putting a half a tank of gas in) and sputtered a bit like it was running out of gas. it would not start back up again and after my husband inspected it and tested the fuel system, says it is not getting fuel to the motor! if i weren't driving where i was and able to pull off on the side of the road i could have killed someone else (like my small child or someone else) or been killed myself. very scary and awful!

A similar incident has occurred on my 2004 chrysler pacifica as stated below. "on certain passenger vehicles, the fuel pump module and the power train control module (pcm) software may allow the engine to stall under certain operating conditions." the manufacture is stating that because of my vehicle's vin# it wasn't part of this recall# f44. it is clear to me that the same conditions that have happen to the vehicles part of recall# f44 should pertain to any vehicle built prior to the dates associated with this recall chrysler is recognizing for repairs. all pacificas should be under the #f44 recall notice, not just a certain portion. i've had to replace the exact same items listed as a necessary repair to correct the problem. as like recall# f44, i to had to replace the fuel pump modules, for the left and right side. however, the difference is it was out of my own pocket for these repairs. all this happened to me too..... and i agree with this person..... so i am re-posting it... the fuel gauge started to mess up telling me it was empty and it was not. it would go all over the place form 3/4 to empty.this went on for two days then i was going down the road at 65mph and it sputtered and i pulled over and it was not running and would not start back up. the guy replaced both fuel pumps because of this now i have to pay for this out of my pocket. i was broke down far form my house and any chrysler dealer, so i had no choose but have it done so i could get back on the road. from what i have read this has happened to many people. your help would greatly be appreciated...... When the fuel gauge reached 1/3 full it dropped to empty and the low fuel light came on. we immediately stopped to fill up but the tank only took 11 gallons leaving us to believe the 23 gallon tank was about half full when the low fuel light came on. after reading the claims listed here i am concerned that this is a serious problem. this has happened before but we thought it truly was empty because when the tank is full the gauge reads full. it is the jumping to empty so quickly that is the problem. there does not seem to be a problem filling the tank (yet). *tr

There are multiple occurrence but the start of the problem was 1 week after i purchased the car. 5/6/14 i replaced the tires left front axle along with the front struts and strut mounts, check engine light on came out for emissions system small leak changed the gas cap. fine till june then i had to replace everything over again check engine light on again same code p0455 changed purge solenoid, along with the right axle. fine again till august by this time check engine light is back on now changed the nvld pump plus replaced everything over again struts, strut mounts, along with the rack n pinion, front lower control arms both sides, outter tie rods. once again fine then october rolls around i take it back in because it acting weird steering wise plus the check engine light is on again same code p0455 now i change out the canister, along with everything over again but the axles they are still good. now november rolls around and everything is at it again check engine light is on p0455 they want to replace the fuel lines now. also the 4 motor mounts are broke again my engine is almost ready to fall out. now they are finally telling me after $3400.00 that this is all caused by the rust and corrosion on the undercarriage. my subframe and frame have holes in it, the rust is actually making it's was inside my car now. i went to fix a flat tire and when i used the emergency jack i pumped it 1/4 of the way up and boom it went right thru the frame. my alignment keeps throwing it self off because it can't hold the front suspension in place. the strut mount housing looks like another few bumps and it will go threw. accident: 1st wk nov '14 i was driving down the free-way luckily doing 45mph and i went to steer my car to the right and it kept going straight and scraped the k-rail. mechanic said the the bolts he put back into the sub-frame keep falling out because of the rust. *js
When i bought it i drove it 20 feet to gas station. the gas tank said i had half a tank of gas. once i was done i turned the car back on and it said i had no gas! i called the guy who sold it to me and he said it just takes time for it to reregister that i filled it up so i drove it back to him to show him what i was talking about when he got there it said i had half a tank and he told me to drive it home i would be fine! well on the way home it said i had 20 mile till empty but the last thing it showed on gas tank was that i still was at half take so i filled it up again. i took the car to my brothers which is 35 miles from fargo to have him see if he could fix the pumps but he couldn't so i got back on interstate goin 75 mph to go home and the gas light flickered and the car went from 75 to 0 in like 2 seconds. resulting in myself bashing my head on steering wheel and no air bags went off either! my husband came to get me and brought gas cans to get me enough gas to make it to a gas station! it took us 58 min exactly to fill the tank completely full so i could make it back home. so the next day i called back and they eventually had me take it to lundes in fargo to fix the gas tank which took 1 month almost 2, so when i got it back multiple times in between that time it was still happening! finally they fix it except the fact that a year later it's happening all over again! which was 5 days ago on my way to jamestown with my children in the car! i have called many of places and nobody knows how to fix it. if i go back to lundes they said they had no idea why it would happen again! and how long it would take them to figure it out! it would have happened earlier if i actually drove the car more but ever since the accident when i drive that car i can't stop checking how full the tank ...

Motor mounts have snapped and been replaced 3 times since purchase! body is too heavy for the frame. now loud thuds at braking and accelerating. always have had a fueling issue. had fuel pumps, sending units, lines, fuel filler nozzle, everything but the tank replaced. fuel gauge drops to empty even with fuel, when trying to fuel it will not allow it pump will shut off. usually starts to do this when gas mileage is under 200 remaining. so frustrating. yet chrysler denies ever having heard of these issues! i see forums with my same complaint, yet it's a mystery for chrysler! this has all been a continuous problem since i purchased the car in 2011.

Have a 2004 chrysler pacifica i've had this truck for two years, i've always had a problem with the gas running out like water. i took my truck to chrysler for them to do a tune up, while there i told them about the problem. when i got back to pick upmy truck they told me that both of my fuel pumps were bad. it seems like they know what's wrong with these trucks and they just decided to tell everyone their fuel pumps are bad. anyway, i had the fuel pumps changed and the problem got worse. now if i put $10 in it the gauge will read 1/2 tank. if i fill it up once it gets to 1/2 tank it'll just drop to the e. once it reads e it cuts off. there could be a full tank of gas but it will still read e. i took it back to chrysler so many times they couldn't find anything wrong. the last time i went back up there, they said i need to replacethe whole tank. i know for a fact that replacing the tank won't fix it. to add to that, while i'm pumping gas the gas foams or it kicks back. i refuse to keep paying my money for them to keep playing the guessing game. if my truck shuts down completely or cause an accident i'm suing chrysler and everyone else!!! chrysler needs to fix the issue, there is a defect. i even called headquarters and they're saying they can't help because the truck is so many years old, and because of the mileage. thing is they knew what was wrong with these trucks. chrysler needs to fix this issue! !!!!! *tr
