Cars tipn needs replaced after 35,000 miles. car initially set all dash lights off, one front and one rear led light remained on even after key was taken out and never went out leading to dead battery. the car died on me while driving it about 20mph as i was attempting to pull out onto roadway causing near accident. been without a car for last 3 weeks while trying to get diagnosis and repair. total cost from going to several repair shops to get diagnosis and part to replace it is estimated to cost $1500-2000 which i cant afford. i am making payments on a car that i cant even drive. i am a college student and this was my first purchase of a car with my own money. this part needs to be recalled. i have read multiple complaints with the same issue . one chrysler repair shop made comment that he was surprised they havent had a recall on that part due to all the ones he has seen needing replaced. this needs to be fixed and chrysler needs to be accountable.
Air bags lights comes on indicating that there is a problem with the passenger seat. it has only came on after i have had a passenger in the passenger seat and on my instrument panel there's a red warning light that that air bag is not operational according to the dealership at jeff wyler east gate in batavia ohio 45102 513-7523447. i also had to put the same 200 s in the shop for a massive oil leak that once i noticed it and then had it checked by a chrysler service advisor there was no oil in the 3.6 l engine and i was told it was a common issue with the 3.6l engine that there was a tsb or something on it so i dropped it of at the above mentioned location to find out my warranty would cover the problem that it was the oil cooler cracked and i would have to pay the $200 lifetime warranty i had on the car. the other issue was there's a engine light on that indicated that the cooling system was malfunctioning which i had mentioned to the dealer when i bought the car or the sweet bungent odor that i smelled coming out of my vents at 5 miles when i bought it i was told that it would go away by 50 miles on my odometer and now at 66700 it's back and was notice by the discount tire shop tell me they smelled a strong coolent leak and i mentioned it to the dealer and they wanted to charge me more money to find if there was a issue that that had already told me was there after i bought the car at 5 miles and would go away at 50 ! to be honest i just believe i got use to it!!!
Vehicle shut off while running on major highway. immediately took the vehicle to a dealership who told me it was due to lack of oil although we perform routine oil changes. this is very unsafe and chrysler doesn't want to assist me with this issue.
As i was driving i started to smell something burning one of my children began to cough as i looked back at him and then out the windshield again i seen smoke coming from the hood area so i immediately pulled off the rode and got both of my children out of the car as we moved away from the car the smoke began to get thicker and the next thing that happened was my car was up in flames. no lights on the dashboard came on the temperature of the car was normal no alarms going off on car before or while car was smoking. i was on a city street
I am asking you to issue a safety recall on my vehicle. you investigated the 2015 model for the same issue and it was recalled as a result. the 2016 is just as dangerous. is there a reason why the lives of people who drive 2015 models are more valuable than mine or my children? it turns off while driving with no warning and leaves me in the middle of intersections! the steering cuts off too. i have to first struggle to control the steering, shift into park, push start, and wait, while i brace myself for the impact that is about to shatter my spine or kill my children! it began as soon as i hit 60k miles a few weeks ago and happens every time i drive it. it happens mostly when i am turning, sometimes when braking for a light, and sometimes it doesn't actually turn off, it just seems like it is suddenly in neutral and makes revving sounds when i hit gas but wont go, that's when message says 'service transmission'. i was making a u turn and almost hit a pole! it may start up with first try, or a few tries. it hasn't happened in high speeds on highway but that may be because i am too afraid to go that route anymore. obviously this is a manufacturing defect. i paid cash for this vehicle and should not have to pay a penny to fix this, but if i or mine are injured i will spend every cent i have on a lawsuit. thank you for your understanding in this extremely important matter.
Car has shut off while driving last few mornings. it happened in the exact same spot each morning. as soon as i turned onto a road, going 20-30 mph, the car just stalls, says "place in p to start" and then dies. the gearshift and wheel lock up and you have to turn the car off and attempt to restart. each time i had to try at least 3 times to get the car restarted. all lights come on dash, battery light included, but had battery checked and it is fine. trying to restart, it doesn't want to turn over. this has happened with several cars behind me and have almost been rear ended because of it. taking into dealership tomorrow to see what they're going to do. after reading other stories very similar to mine, i'm not very hopeful.

I have a 2016 chrysler 200 and of you are a quart low the vehicle has a sensor which tells the vehicle to shut off it don't matter we're you are at and you can only go 1800 to 2000 miles till it burns that quart off so when the vehicle dies the power steering is turned off and the steering wheel locks so there is no way to get off the road you have to stop the car and put in park to start again i called the manufacturer and they told me that means so safty is working properly so they can't do anything but to me that seems like a safty hazard to anyone in the car to get rear ended or in a intersection

Car suddenly died in traffic and wouldn't start back. car has 66k miles. after getting a jump we got car home and hooked battery to a charger. next time i went to drive it it died again and i was able to get it started back but the instrument panel blinks on and off and all of the warning lights start going on and off. currently unable to drive it because it will just die while driving and with instrument panel blinking it doesn't show accurate speed. please recall this car before it kills someone!

Stop and go traffic for about 20 mins, once i entered the intersection the vehicle completely stopped without warning. i could not locate the emergency release to place the vehicle in neutral. car sat in the intersection got 1.5 hours.
My 2016 chrysler 200 stalls randomly in traffic on the highway. i was on my way home from ocean city, md when i hit traffic at the bay bridge. i was trying to switch lanes when i noticed my power steering was not working followed by a message on the screen stating to put the vehicle in park and restart the engine. vehicle restarted but was not shifting correctly. happened a second time in a similar situation. this is a major safety hazard. i don't even know where to begin looking for the problem because there is no check engine light indicating what is happening.
Starting in october 2018 this car has cut off on me for no reason at any given time. i will be driving and it will cut off and tell me to shift into park. sometimes it cranks back up other times it doesn't. i have taken it to landmark chrysler five different times. each time i am told that it's a different problem. and each time the car does the exact same thing again. this has endangered my life and the life of my two year old son. after completing two different oil consumption test landmark(morrow,ga) still hasn't been able to diagnose the problem so the warranty company won't fix the car. they know that it's using too much oil but they claim they don't know why. this car is a safety hazard and nothing is being done about it. they just try to get you to trade it in for another car with a higher payment. this problem really needs to be investigated before it causes someone their life. i have been driving on major highways when this car has cut off with no warning and narrowly missed being hit by a semi truck. i have filed a complaint with chrysler corporate but that has gotten me no where because the person i speak with (will in customer care) does nothing and claims that he doesn't have a supervisor that i can contact.

Car had been parked for about 5 hours. when i went to restart car made a noise like it was struggling to start. turned car off and check oil appears to be full. went to restart car and it would not restart. multiple attempts were made to start car and while all lights and beeping came on car would not start again over a 15 min period. can not push break down and when push the start button nothing happens. car has also stalled out multiple times while driving in the last year. chrysler dealership states its due to oil and it appears car is burning oil very fast. chrysler states that the car will not start due to a safety mechanism to not allow the engine to overheat due to low oil. as oil has appeared full and checked multiple time unsure as to why the car would do this.
I've been into the service department over 6 times for the same issues. this car is so unsafe to drive. i believe this is a transmission issue. my car creates a very hard jerking when switching gears or speeding up. it also shakes when the air conditioning is on and i am only getting about 15 mi to the gallon when it should be 27. i've left multiple complaints since i have had this vehicle, worked with the device department, worked with chrysler and the situation and safety concern is still not rectified. please look into this. it's my only transportation and i would like to keep myself, my 3 babies, and other drivers safe. thank you!
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. the contact drove the vehicle to west covina chrysler (298 n azusa ave, west covina, ca 91791) for an oil consumption test because it was using excessive amounts of oil. the contact received a technical service bulletin that indicated the vehicle should consume a lot of oil, according to manufacturer standards. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 21,086. *tr consumer stated our vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. oil leak was found and the oil was 1 quart low. there were also some engine issues as shown on (invoice 150760). on dec 11, 2018, i picked up my vehicle which had 15855 miles, and i returned shortly after driving 4 miles due to the engine idled rough and stalled. this is the 2"d issue. oil leak found, was 1 quart low as well as more engine issues as shown on ( invoice 151016 ). on may 31, 2019 at 21086 miles, 1 quart low below the safe marker on dipstick. Car will not start, put foot down on break and press the ignition and nothing happens with the engine. all lights, radio, screens turn on but not the engine.i have tested the batter, alternator, and starter and all are good.if i wait the car will start again just fine later. can was parked after driving to work in the morning this happens in the afternoon.
This evening when driving my car the vehicle stalled out and cut off a number of three times within a 10 minute span. once while making a right turn out of the parking lot of my job, second when coming to a full stop at the parking lot entrance and last as i was begining the merge onto the highway from an on ramp. the day prior the car shut off completely a total of 5 times at various points throughout the day. my vehicle is regularly maintained by the service department where i purchased my vehicle brand new. there were no warning light or indicators that there was an issue. the only notification was to "shift car to park to start engine". this issue nearly caused a major accident when attempting to merge onto the highway this evening. this is highly concerning as this issue could potentially cost my family or myself our lives should the vehicle shut off at the wrong moment. i've searched numerous sites about this problem and it appears there are a lot of people experiencing this issue with the same year and model as well as ones produced prior to 2016. this concern is life threatening and should be treated as such with some form of remedy from the manufacturer.
Oil consumption and electric wiring problems causing the air conditioner to go out and blow hot air. the oil consumption will need entire engine replaced. oil consumption almost caused wreck because car will throw car in park at unexplained times because oil is low even when oil was changed. very very dangerous. oil light does not come on either even oil is dangerously low. driver is unaware.
My chrysler 200 started shifting really hard and as you're driving down the road you can feel it jerking. i called the chrysler dealership that is local to me took it in they only drove at 3 miles and decided there was nothing wrong with it except for a software update. i paid $132 for a labor charge for a software update that never fix the problem. took it back 2 days later they can't diagnose it with spark plug issues. paid $160 for spark plugs and labor just to have the same problem. they still after a week later have no idea what is wrong with my car. just wondering what kind of technicians actually work for chrysler.

2016 chrysler 200s with just over 27,000 miles started on fire due to as of yet undetermined cause, 1000 miles after being inspected by 2 dealerships, and about 2000 miles after oil change and inspection by a third dealership. the car was declared total loss by state farm insurance. ([xxx], mike o'brien) the car was listed in well maintained condition at the time of loss. at this time state farm has been told by there corporate that no further investigation as to cause will be conducted. the fire happened on the side of 275n near eureka road exit on 9 april 2019. my wife [xxx]. (michigan state police metro south post #22,[xxx]) -oil changed at suburban chrysler in novi before leaving for the approximately 1000 mile trip and week in fl. -during stay, the car smelled hot so she took it to sunset chrysler ([xxx]) in sarasota, fl. personnel at dealership were rude, and told her her car's state of cleanliness was causing the smell. -my wife needed to drive home in a couple of days and was still concerned. one thing that i had her check was coolant which was low and had not been noticed by sunset. she then took the car to a second dealership (douglas jeep chrysler dodge ram, fl ([xxx]) for inspection. douglas, while more polite, conducted coolant system and other checks, but determined there was no issue with the vehicle. the service department guaranteed my wife that the vehicle was safe to drive back to michigan and even went on to say that they would not let an unsafe vehicle leave the shop. -that same night i contacted chrysler who initiated their own investigation. As i am driving car will cut off and tell you to shift the car to park. it then will stall when you try to start it back up. this happened on the interstate and the street while in motion.
My car stalls when i start to drive. if i don't let it idle in park for a good 15 minutes it will stall and tells me to put it in park. once it stalls it is difficult to restart. also the airbag light keeps coming on. if i hit the smallest pothole the airbag light comes on and it gives me a message stating service airbags. also the driverside seat came untracked and cannot move it forward or backwards without it making a weird noise.
Since about 20,000 miles my car has smelled of anti-freeze. the first time i took it in, gene's chrysler said my cabin air filter was flooded with coolant and that my radiator was leaking at the seams. this was changed at 36,000 (march 2018) miles. after they replaced the radiator, i still smelled it and was told that it was "spray" that was left over from when it was originally broken. at 57,000 miles (jan 2019) i still smell it. i had to take my car back to gene's for an ambient temp sensor and they noticed my radiator is leaking, again, and replaced it. now, keep in mind, i am not leaving coolant puddles anywhere nor is my temp sensor for the coolant reporting anything than what is normal. i am again smelling anti-freeze.gene's again tells me that it's just from the spray.

Parking brake will spontaneously engage while driving on city street going less than 15mph. check turns on but no codes and will not turn off. biggest issue lately is that car does not recognize key fab. batteries have been changed and neither key fab is recognized. car can be started, get out and get back in and fab is jot recognized. has left me stranded many times. then when go back, it suddenly works.

Vehicle stalls without notice in the middle of the road. can't display hazard lights. must return the car to park and wait a few minutes before restarting. stalled in the middle of a turn on my wife when taking my toddler o preschool. this is a huge safety concern! this vehicle is going to get someone killed.
The car will shut off while driving. especially when making a right or left turn, the car will shut off in traffic. this definitely can cause a safety issue on the highway, in which it have shut off on me.
On 10/12/18 was driving down a busy highway just started going down a hill and my car lost power and my gear shifter starting blinking in neutral, brake pedal and gas pedal was stuck and push to start would not work for me to restart my car after a few tries i was able to get to turn off and took a couple tries to get it to turn back on. i was stalled and had cars dodging me and swerving in other lanes when they were topping the hill. i went to my dealership and they wasn't able to look at that day and told me they could probably get to it the next following week. while i was driving to the dealership to drop it off with the service department i was at a stop sign stopped with my foot on the brake and it decides to take off on it's on and i had to smash the brakes several times to make it stop in order to not hit another vehicle. it was a pretty traumatic experience for me as i have always took care of that car since i have had it. i never had a recall for my vehicle either. my engine would also skip a few times while driving to my dealership. i have also never had any work done to my vehicle mechanically beside oil changes on a regular basis.

I have noticed that my 2016 chrysler 200 is burning oil at an alarming rate. i didn't even know it was low because there is no sensor that shows up on the dash letting me know the oil was low. the "oil change life" is still at 20% life but my car has burned thru over 4 quarts of oil in 4,000 miles!! i find this extremely concerning not to mention the possible engine damage that can be done with a car burning this much oil. there should be an alert to drivers letting them know the oil levels are low. i have never had a car that burned oil like this!
In the last month, my 2016 chrysler 200 has stalled out while driving without any notice. upon trying to restart, it struggle to turn over. i have to put in park and wait a few minutes before it will start up again. there is no warning before the car dies either. there was no warning light on the dash to let me know that something is wrong. each time my car stalled i was on a busy highway and luckily no car were coming or they were able to go around me. i was scared i was going to get hit and killed when my car stalled in the middle of the busy highway. i have read the numerous 2015 and 2016 models have the same safety issue. the 2016 200 needs to be recalled to fix this serious, possible fatal issue of stalling out without warning. each time this happened to me was when i was at a stop and then stepping on the gas, or when i was at a low rate of speed (approx 10 mph). i have documented the dates and times each time my car has stalled out.
The pressure on my front drivers side isnt reading it at all at first i thought it was a an electrical so i changed it then a popping and clicking sound started so i went to a mechanic and they told me it was the cv axel joint i replaced it still persist they said it might be a valve ok i replaced still has the popping and clicking sound and to top it off when im pushing on the gas pedal to go faster the car for some reason pulls back they told me at the chrysler auto repaid it might be because it needs the transmission oil change i made an appointment and had it done but it still persists i don't know what else to do its cost me so much money to try to figure out what wrong with it and for some one on minimum wage its getting very difficult to continue paying this vehicle that has problems that just won't go away.
