Problems with 2016 Chrysler 200 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Cars tipn needs replaced after 35,000 miles. car initially set all dash lights off, one front and one rear led light remained on even after key was taken out and never went out leading to dead battery. the car died on me while driving it about 20mph as i was attempting to pull out onto roadway causing near accident. been without a car for last 3 weeks while trying to get diagnosis and repair. total cost from going to several repair shops to get diagnosis and part to replace it is estimated to cost $1500-2000 which i cant afford. i am making payments on a car that i cant even drive. i am a college student and this was my first purchase of a car with my own money. this part needs to be recalled. i have read multiple complaints with the same issue . one chrysler repair shop made comment that he was surprised they havent had a recall on that part due to all the ones he has seen needing replaced. this needs to be fixed and chrysler needs to be accountable.

When decelerating at either a red light or to turn, car will completely shut off with no warnings or check engine lights. this started almost a month ago. then today everything locked up. all electrical lights came on along with the check engine light. there was no power when trying to get the vehicle back home. it should have been towed.

The car has to much torque that the vehicle slides and loses control and almost caused an accident. the steering is to lose when i turn it moves to quick and the movement of the vehicle can't catch up.

As i was driving i started to smell something burning one of my children began to cough as i looked back at him and then out the windshield again i seen smoke coming from the hood area so i immediately pulled off the rode and got both of my children out of the car as we moved away from the car the smoke began to get thicker and the next thing that happened was my car was up in flames. no lights on the dashboard came on the temperature of the car was normal no alarms going off on car before or while car was smoking. i was on a city street

The sensor that is under the passenger seat, signalling that an individual is sitting in the seat, has needed to be replaced by the dealership twice now as a connection becomes loose and will dis-attach. this will alert my car to service airbags

I am asking you to issue a safety recall on my vehicle. you investigated the 2015 model for the same issue and it was recalled as a result. the 2016 is just as dangerous. is there a reason why the lives of people who drive 2015 models are more valuable than mine or my children? it turns off while driving with no warning and leaves me in the middle of intersections! the steering cuts off too. i have to first struggle to control the steering, shift into park, push start, and wait, while i brace myself for the impact that is about to shatter my spine or kill my children! it began as soon as i hit 60k miles a few weeks ago and happens every time i drive it. it happens mostly when i am turning, sometimes when braking for a light, and sometimes it doesn't actually turn off, it just seems like it is suddenly in neutral and makes revving sounds when i hit gas but wont go, that's when message says 'service transmission'. i was making a u turn and almost hit a pole! it may start up with first try, or a few tries. it hasn't happened in high speeds on highway but that may be because i am too afraid to go that route anymore. obviously this is a manufacturing defect. i paid cash for this vehicle and should not have to pay a penny to fix this, but if i or mine are injured i will spend every cent i have on a lawsuit. thank you for your understanding in this extremely important matter.

Car has shut off while driving last few mornings. it happened in the exact same spot each morning. as soon as i turned onto a road, going 20-30 mph, the car just stalls, says "place in p to start" and then dies. the gearshift and wheel lock up and you have to turn the car off and attempt to restart. each time i had to try at least 3 times to get the car restarted. all lights come on dash, battery light included, but had battery checked and it is fine. trying to restart, it doesn't want to turn over. this has happened with several cars behind me and have almost been rear ended because of it. taking into dealership tomorrow to see what they're going to do. after reading other stories very similar to mine, i'm not very hopeful.

My car shuts off while running and tells me to switch to park. the steering wheel and breaks lock up. this happens mid drive or when i turn a corner and is very dangerous. i had this same problem on my 2015 chrysler 200 and now i am having the same issue with my 2016 chrysler. this needs to be fixed this is a manufacturer issue.

Had to replace battery a month ago. went to leave and car would not start. had to get a jump from ky daughter to take to have battery tested. bad battery! and now fuel pump has a short in it. driving car and stalled and said put into park. stuck in the middle of the road until tow truck came.

Car suddenly died in traffic and wouldn't start back. car has 66k miles. after getting a jump we got car home and hooked battery to a charger. next time i went to drive it it died again and i was able to get it started back but the instrument panel blinks on and off and all of the warning lights start going on and off. currently unable to drive it because it will just die while driving and with instrument panel blinking it doesn't show accurate speed. please recall this car before it kills someone!

Car keep stalling out

Doesn't start. every light came on. everything needed to be serviced air bags key fob not detected air bags needed service parking brake needs service. check engine light on. battery light on. can only start with a charge once charge removed car doesn't start. the car was stationary. i recently found out that the car was on the recall list, but i never received notification from the car company.

Car a/c stuck in defrost mode when turned on and car will not start unless it is jumped

A couple weeks ago, i was at stop light my car stalled, i put in park it restarted. i couldn't put on my hazards or anything to warn the car behind . it happened again on this saturday on the highway in the fast lane the dashboard was blank, the radio stopped playing, so merged in the slow lane without using the brake then everything came back on the speed gauge was trying to get my current speed. it doesn't happen all the time but it's scary feeling because everything on dashboard is computerized.

Takata recall, my vehical was completely still, outside of my family home getting into the car with my 1yo. i have had problems with my key fob before so i didnt think anything of it. tried to go and start my car and my speedometer read 'key fob not detected' but my car crank any way and let me drive 20 minutes out to visit a family member. once we got back in the car to go home, my car would not crank, due to a computer failure to ready my key fob, had to get it towed to the dealership where i found this out and is costing me around $500 to pay for.

I've been into the service department over 6 times for the same issues. this car is so unsafe to drive. i believe this is a transmission issue. my car creates a very hard jerking when switching gears or speeding up. it also shakes when the air conditioning is on and i am only getting about 15 mi to the gallon when it should be 27. i've left multiple complaints since i have had this vehicle, worked with the device department, worked with chrysler and the situation and safety concern is still not rectified. please look into this. it's my only transportation and i would like to keep myself, my 3 babies, and other drivers safe. thank you!

When i'm driving the car shuts off and also when i turn the corner or hit a bump the buzzer goes off and then it shuts down also it has a very poor gas mileage and i get a tournament the shock from the car while i touch it . when i am driving at a normal rate of speed or if i go to take off it will shut off if i'm in the passing lane for unknown reasons it shuts off when i touch the brakes or if i'm sitting waiting for light it makes a humming noise . all of this happens only when the car is in motion this started back in february 2018 and still continues to this date today's date is may 13, 2019

Oil consumption and electric wiring problems causing the air conditioner to go out and blow hot air. the oil consumption will need entire engine replaced. oil consumption almost caused wreck because car will throw car in park at unexplained times because oil is low even when oil was changed. very very dangerous. oil light does not come on either even oil is dangerously low. driver is unaware.

Tamara recall i was hit in the front and side drivers and not one of my air bags went off from the impact. i was forced by the other car into a curb. lights would flicker constantly even after battery was changed twice. from the cause of the accident i have had major injuries sustained.

2016 chrysler 200s with just over 27,000 miles started on fire due to as of yet undetermined cause, 1000 miles after being inspected by 2 dealerships, and about 2000 miles after oil change and inspection by a third dealership. the car was declared total loss by state farm insurance. ([xxx], mike o'brien) the car was listed in well maintained condition at the time of loss. at this time state farm has been told by there corporate that no further investigation as to cause will be conducted. the fire happened on the side of 275n near eureka road exit on 9 april 2019. my wife [xxx]. (michigan state police metro south post #22,[xxx]) -oil changed at suburban chrysler in novi before leaving for the approximately 1000 mile trip and week in fl. -during stay, the car smelled hot so she took it to sunset chrysler ([xxx]) in sarasota, fl. personnel at dealership were rude, and told her her car's state of cleanliness was causing the smell. -my wife needed to drive home in a couple of days and was still concerned. one thing that i had her check was coolant which was low and had not been noticed by sunset. she then took the car to a second dealership (douglas jeep chrysler dodge ram, fl ([xxx]) for inspection. douglas, while more polite, conducted coolant system and other checks, but determined there was no issue with the vehicle. the service department guaranteed my wife that the vehicle was safe to drive back to michigan and even went on to say that they would not let an unsafe vehicle leave the shop. -that same night i contacted chrysler who initiated their own investigation. My car suddenly turned off as i was making a turn. i have fixed the car 2 times from the same thing and this will be the 3rd. i want to see if there's something associated with a recall about the computer module. it stalls to turn on, and when it does it won't go as far as a mile

While driving the hole system will shut down at random times. all the screens all things that light up. not every time, but sometimes. then when you go to switch gears to back up the back up camera doesn't always switch to back up. it will stay on the same screen or go black. this part actually happens a few times a week.

My car stalls when i start to drive. if i don't let it idle in park for a good 15 minutes it will stall and tells me to put it in park. once it stalls it is difficult to restart. also the airbag light keeps coming on. if i hit the smallest pothole the airbag light comes on and it gives me a message stating service airbags. also the driverside seat came untracked and cannot move it forward or backwards without it making a weird noise.

The vehicle stalls while in motion, it has stalled 5 times within 10 minutes and i no longer can safely drive it. all occasions were on a city street while braking. the car shows on the dashboard that it is shifting gears even while remaining at one speed and then the system shuts down. it occasionally shifts hard and/or makes an odd noise in the engine.

My car was driving just fine until i went to reverse out of the parking spot i was parked in. i pushed the brake down to release the emergency brake and all of a sudden my brake got harder to push down. it displays on my screen the 'brake' is on but it's not. it almost feels like my brakes went out but it's so hard to push them down. luckily it happened while i was in a parking lot rather then on a main road or even the highway. i took it to the dealership and was told it was my brake booster. it's no way after two years of having this car that anything this serious with my brakes should've happened at all.

Service air bag system and service parking brake notifications appeared as well as the check engine light car would not shift, the screen went in and out while the vehicle loss power and wouldn't move. the transmission just reved this car has major issues all of this happed while driving.

While driving the vehicle at around 30 mph the service airbag system and service parking brake system notifications came on along with the check engine light and traction control disabling. as that happened my touchscreen in the vehicle went in and out and the car became hesitant to accelerate. i pulled over and tried to set the parking brake and then release it afterwards the car really became hard to move. transmission just reved and the car eventually started accelerating.

At times will not start . engine dies while going down the highway. transmission loses power then after resting it will go again then out of nowhere it stalls again.

Driving from school car stalled in the middle of interstate. car read put car.in p..after doing so it would not start up...after a few min i had to hold the start button to start it with foot on brake...i pulled off again and when i stopped it killed again with traffic passing me doing 80 mph..i was so scared with my toddler in the vehicle. drove home no problem..next day same thing stalled.in the middle of the highway! somebody help us .chrysler is gonna get some one killed. has been doing this everyday..i hear many complaints of this and chrysler does nothing

Vehicle stalls without notice in the middle of the road. can't display hazard lights. must return the car to park and wait a few minutes before restarting. stalled in the middle of a turn on my wife when taking my toddler o preschool. this is a huge safety concern! this vehicle is going to get someone killed.

My car wont start and the brakes are hard

Stalling and shutting off in the middle of driving while i turn corners. my car just stalls and stop then hesitates to cut back on

My vehicle won't start when i push the start button. i had the person towing my car try to jump start the batterie but he told me the batterie was fine and that the issue was something else. this car has left me stranded time after time and i fear it may leave me in a dangerous situation one day. please help

While in motion my car has stopped running on 5 different times, 3 out of the 5 times i was in crusie control driving on the hwy when i lost all control. the other 2 times was in town at a low speed. car is on but wont go any where, its stuck in drive the alarms and several lights on the dash come on rpm will rum up to about 2000 but still wont do anything else. transmission has been shifting hard and driving hard, quite a bit had it serviced 3times, transmission had to be replaced there was a hole in it that came from internal. air bag wiring harnas had to be replaced as well, head light harnest had to be replaced due to wires were shorting out my battery, igintion had to be replaced as well due to the wiring and program.

When vehicle need small maintenance such as oil change or system update, vehicle electric (computer system) shuts down not allowing driver to even turn on hazards on. vehicle has to towed to shop.

On january 13th 2018 at 5am in the morning the car went into a state of emergency to where i couldnt even break and lost control of the vehicle the transmission light then came on and the car wouldnt cut off for hours. took the car to russ darrow chrysler for suspensions issues and electrical malfunctions because they couldnt locate any codes for what i had saw on the car. although my car was not on the recall list i had the same issues that other cars this type did have and it costed me $2989 for repairs

Car keeps shutting off randomly while driving. car is at 36738 miles. i was mid turn and car just cut off and system shut down. could have been hit by other vehicles but they had enough time to go around car stalled in middle of road. put car in park and tried to restart 3 times before it came back on.

The car first started off with the screen turning on and off while driving..we didn't think much of it however a few month ago the car began to turn off in the midst of driving. before turing off the car would begin to yank as if resisting. we proceeded with purchasing a new battery. that was 4 month ago. we are now here 12/2018 and the car has once again started to yank while driving, turn off when going 10-40 mph and now has the check engine, traction and voltage light flashing. once it is turned off and turned back on after a few mins. it's as if nothing ever happened. all this happened while driving in city street and turning.

My car continues to stall while driving on city streets, locking everything up. i have to put the car in park. press the stop engine button, place my foot in the brake, press the start button,the engine whines, tries to start, winds again then chugs a few times. after doing this over and over again, the car will eventually start. just to do it again. when i brought my car to the dealer, they told my car was "almost out of oil" after which they had done the last oil change claiming to have used synthetic oil. if that was the case, how does a 2016 car burn 4-5 quarts of synthetic oil and them not be able to tell me why. i see the recall for 2015 200's matching exactly what is happening to my 2016.

The engine in our chrysler 200 loses oil at an alarming rate. the car eventually stalls and will not restart. we are told every time 'no oil shows on the dipstick. it is again in the shop having been towed there because it lost so much oil it would not start. the dealer is defiant because the government has refused to act and recall the 2016 for the same reasons that prompted a recall of the 2015 chrysler 200. is it going to take consumer fatalities before the nhsta acts. tecall these cars now !
