Problems with 2015 Chrysler 200 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Car will lose power driving down the road and will also accelerate by itself the electronic throttle control light and check engine light comes on you can't get the car to go just dead and when you cut it off and to restart it it takes few times to start back but that's the o my way you can drive it after doing that! it has done this several times now and two cases i almost got into a very bad accident ! this. is very dangerous i can't drive on interstate because if we're to stall like it does and lose piower or get killed! it's has stopped while pulling out into the highway resulting in me having to jump out of car before i got tboned

My air bag light would come on and go off for a while. but now it shows up on my ftc code reader regularly. when i have it checked it say replace air bag clock spring. my transmission is jerking around and makes a noise when i start to put it in gear. like a clanking sound

When driving the car jerks between speeds, especially from 3rd speed to 4 speed its a hard/rough shift. even when stopping the car is still going and jerking. very unsafe! especially in stop and go traffic, vehicle has a very bad delay when trying o merge into traffic.

Purchased 2015 chrysler 200 at 4:35 pm. got on hwy 25 miles west going home i-70 west to bonner springs, the car started hesitating, i nearly got thrown off highway by 3 semis- adnd 2 trucks and cars behind me, let off horrible burning odor, and nearly threw my body out of the car, but i handled well. i got off i-70 to state avenue- runs parallel directions. then, when i came to a number of lights- the engine revved up, like it was jerking motions. i paid it some attention, but was at a loss for words. i thought i was on a race track engines revved up, but i was not going to a race track. so, i came home- settled now down to2:445 in the morning very shaken up. so, i notified the televisions news stations and the kansas city star newspaper as we speak. i decided to read the "chrysler 200 reviews, and i am sure you can pull them too. i just searched for chrysler 200 reviews- and i read so many "exact" stories- i don't know what to say. i cannot sleep. this is the worst feeling i have ever had. read the reviews. help people live, and get rid of these cars. just think, it has great leg room- i had plans for my nieces- to go to texas, we cannot die at once. i am not ready to be buried- at least let me teach a few more months and years. had it been snowing, i would be dead. my life has been turned up side down, since 4pm. it is not just me. don;t let these people kill kids,my nieces could have died this weekend. i thought i was going to pick them up, but i am so shaken,i am ice cold all over. i pray to god- you will cease these vehicles at once. please don;t let any more people drive these cars- and please show these on face the nation on channel 5 cbs stations. thank-god- my nieces are alive. i am so glad to be home. i plan to get a police escort to the dealership 9/12/2017. i have had so much trouble finding honesty. god bless us.

Vehicle wouldn't accelerate when pedal was pushed, then jerked and took off. vehicle began accelerating quickly while in cruise control mode. started having problems with the push start button, wouldn't not do anything when pressed.

Mostly hwy driving~engine light comes on, transmission light is on and vehicle speed decreases, unable to accelerate. when i come to a complete stop, most times the screen will reset, the engine light will go off with in the next day or two. stored codes have been p1da9, p073e. i've taken the care to the dealer, software reset-only solved the problem for a short time. searched for recall by vehicle and there are at least 7, but when searching by vin # states none. this has happened numerous time but i will enter most recent date with complaint

Service elec throttle control. vehicle was stationary and moving, as were we returning home via the highway. car keep jerking. would not shift down from "7th" gear.

Purchased vehicle 24 april 2017. after approx. 2 weeks the "service airbag system' message and airbag light on panel came on and went off after a few days. called and spoke with dealership i purchased from and was informed that if it came on again to take it in to get checked. came on again after another 2 weeks, scheduled appointment and the morning i took it in it went off. came on again at the end of june which was another 2 weeks later and has been on since. first couple of time came on while driving, last time came on right after car was started. car will also making a "jerky" acceleration motion while driving on highway and acts like it can't accelerate after coming out of a stop. makes the "jerky" acceleration motion when pulling into driveway also. did some research online and saw that others where having the same issues. i haven't had this vehicle a full 4 months.

On 1 may 2017, i was driving my 2015 chrysler 200 to work. i was cruising at 67 mph on the 4 lane highway in busy morning traffic. the car suddenly accelerated from 67 mph to 70 mph then to 74 mph within a few seconds. i cancelled cruise control but the car stayed at the accelerated speed and i had no control over the car at that time. i tapped the brake with no response; then i tapped the accelerator and finally regained control and was then able to brake and slow the car down. when the car was accelerated to 74 mph, i had no control and i could hear that it was winding and trying to shift to the next gear but it seemed stuck at 4000 rpms. this was a very scary experience. i will not allow my daughter to drive the car anymore. i also am afraid to drive it myself. it's a fairly new car and i have already gone to the dealership 2 times prior to this event because the car also suddenly accelerates when i take my foot off the accelerator attempting to brake. on a daily basis, i can feel the car speed up when i take my foot from the accelerator to the brake. this sudden surge could easily cause a fender bender. each time i went to the dealership for this issue, they could not find anything wrong. when i called chrysler about this event on 1 may, i was offered assistance in getting it diagnosed again, but i have already done that and see no need since on both occasions they could not find anything wrong. i hope they buy this car back as i don't feel it's safe to trade in plus i am "upside down" so i would still be paying for it even if i traded it. i hope chrysler does the right thing by myself and others who are having problems with these vehicles because they are unsafe and unpredictable. see also odi 11102154. *dsy *tt

The engine light came on and never went out and that the airbag service systems keep on coming on the my car sometimes speed and then it will not accelerate beyond 45 miles it seems that the car engine is ready to go out at anytime or moment while driving the gear shift is jumping from #1,#2#3#4#5#6 also temp for the outside of the vehicle has been messing up along with the time. i'm not sure what else would happen if i continue to drive it. the car may cause problems later on while driving i don't have any warranty on this vehicle to be repaired and that i have read the recall of all chrylser vehicles from 2010-17 these are the same exact problems that i'm having the parking lights and engine light had came on during parking and stayed on till i left work on the 04/28/17 and 04/29/2017 it also has started to jerking a few weeks ago till now also . i'm afraid to drive it because i just may have a wreck while driving this vehicle. i'm not really as to what is happening with the vehicle.

The engine light continues to remain on while in drive mode the gear shifts remain to move accordingly #1#2#3#4#5#6#7#8 the transmission is starting to slip while in driving mode and that the airbags system is continued to blink on and off these are some of the bad defects that's happening as of now i'm afraid of really driving these vehicle due to faulty systems that may be more than a issue the problems started when in parking and drive mode.

I was on the highway and the car stalled several times. i sat on the side lane and turned the car off for a minute. i started it up again and proceeded to get off the highway the car accelerated less than 20 miles per hour. my daughter and i were terrified before the car stopped suddenly and cars had to break behind us to avoid hitting the car. i had to put the car in park and put my hazard lights on and it took a while for the car to start up again for me to pull on the side of the highway. it has done this more than just this incident. at stop lights and while driving on the street the engine will stall and take a minute to start up again.

From january - april 2017, i have had multiple instances of losing the ability to accelerate or shift gears while making left hand turns. the car throws up error messages regarding the loss of performance shifting and "lightning bolt" symbol. i have to coast to pull over to the side of the road and restart the engine to get moving again. the last time it occurred, i had a truck behind me. luckily i was moving fast enough and was able to get out of the way without being involved in an accident. i have had the car into the local chrylser dealership on multiple occasions where they have thought they have found the problem in an electrical connector. it is currently in the shop again and has been for the past month and they still can't figure out the problem.

Takata recall when i received vehicle on february 2017 i was already in mechanical shop by march 16 2017 my car was throwing itself it self into park while driving down the road. my car also stalls when leaving a stop then jolts while going i have had to avoid a lot of accidents because of this. chrysler fixed the defected power distribution center thinking it would fix stalling but stalling continued. recently when i got up for work one morning i noticed my passenger air bag light on and took it to the dealership and they said my hornets was deffected

I currently have an open complaint just filed on 2/24/2017 (complaint number 10956764) this is a continuation of that complaint. my car was being serviced at fred fredrick's chrysler dodge jeep ram in laurel, maryland on 2/24/2017 to fix/repair the issue that has caused my vehicle to come to a complete stop, without warning, while the car is in drive (i was going 58 mph on a highway when the car initially stopped without warning - see first complaint). fred fredrick's phoned and stated the issue had been resolved and they test drove the vehicle with no additional issues/problems. i picked up my vehicle at 4pm - by 8:45pm (not even 30 miles later) while in a residential neighborhood, the car had experienced the exact same issue that had just been repaired. my 2015 chrysler 200c, without warning or indicators, will come to a complete stop while in drive and i'm unable to place the car in a different gear shift or move it. for the second time in 24 hours i had to have my car towed to a dealership. my car is currently at darcars chrysler jeep dodge of silver spring, i have been told they won't be able to even look at my car until tuesday 2/28/2017. today is 02/25/2017 and i'm out of reliable transportation until at least 02/29/2017. i had to resort to paying for a rental as neither chrysler, nor darcars would pay for the rental upfront. chrysler said they "may" reimburse the rental if it is deemed that the work completed on my car was essential. in my opinion, a potentially life threatening issue should be essential - my car comes to a complete stop without notice. i have attached my service records since may 2016 ( purchased the car in april 2016 used) as well as my current rental agreement. i also have a video of the car stalled as well. this is clearly an issue with chrysler and they want to repair instead of buying my car out so that i can purchase a working vehicle

The service airbag light keeps coming on

Vehicle is reporting p0128 and p2181 error codes. while driving, vehicle gives an error message that says service electronic throttle control and sounds like it is running really loud. when i turn off the vehicle and turn it back on, the warning goes away and it sounds normal again. also, have been driving and the car just shuts off out of no where and wont turn on for a few attempts. this has happened on the freeway. vehicle also seems to accelerate when trying to slow down at a stop sign or light.

I purchased a 2015 chrysler 200c in october 2016 and 2 weeks after purchasing it i was at a stop light and my car just completely shut down saying to service transmission service brakes etc. my vehicle had to be towed to the dealership and they said they reflashed the computer that day and it was fixed. i picked it up and have been leery about it ever since well a month of having it and on nov 28 2016 i was going home from the store and was turning into my street when my car stalled out on the road. i was hit by a oilfield water truck and my car was totaled. i went in to the hospital with injuries to my face, leg arm and head. i ended up with a concussion and bruising all over and a boot on my foot. and there's a possibility my jaw is dislocated. *tr update 09/28/17 *bf. updated 7/12/18*jb

I was driving home from work yesterday evening doing 60 -65 mph on hwy 6 and my car decelerated like it turned off. i tried pushing the gas and nothing happened, the engine didn't even rev up. i had warning lights flashing on my dash. i tried uploading pictures but they wouldn't attach. i coasted the to shoulder of the road and my car wouldn't disengage from drive. i turned my car off hoping that would help, but when i turned it back on it wouldn't change gears from park. i got towed to the nearest chrysler dealership. today i received a call from the dealership that they were going to reset some computer drive and i "should be good to go this afternoon". i told that lady there's a recall on chryslers for that very issue and i refuse to drive that car until it's fixed. this is a brand new car. i've barely had it a year. she told me that right now they can't fix it. if they can't fix it then chrysler needs to buy back all of these cars from the people got scammed into buying them. i've had engine trouble from this car from day 1.

I bought the car in february 2016 and was told it was bought back because of a sensor and had gone through full inspection and was cleared for sale. two days later my check engine light came on and the car had accelerated from 60-92 on it's own. the dealership puts new parts in and every two weeks after i get my car back, the check engine light comes on and the car is accelerating on it's own. chrysler has a team talking with the dealership but the car has been back around 10 times and is still having the same problem. last week it accelerated from 72 to 97 on the freeway while my 2 year old son was in the car. we almost hit a semi. i dont understand how chrysler is able to keep closing my cases and telling me they fixed it when it is still having the same problem. i've googled engine issues on these cars and found mine wasn't the only one doing this. i am paying a lot of money for an unsafe car that keeps accelerating on it's own and nothing is being done.

Enterprise auto sales sold me this chrysler 200 with an open warranty on it, which i discovered later on. from the time i drove it home, there have been issues with the transmission behaving erratically, surging or racing idle and lurching from a stopped and/or slow mph. it has also behaved as though its suddenly in idle only one to jump back into gear. it's been to the dealer for the tcm recall and that hasn't remedied the problem. then a new safety recall was released and there is no date on when the most recent issues will be fixed. i saw that my vehicle was potentially listed under the consent agreement's buy-back option for owners. when i spoke with customer service, i was told there was no such thing as a buy-back program and my vehicle was not within the consent agreement. i requested another department and was told there was no other department. i asked to speak with a supervisor and was flatly denied by the customer service representative who had a speech impediment. i haven't ever dealt with a csr that hostile. i'm surprised she works with customers. i've only had this vehicle for about 4 months and it's been a nightmare. definitely buyers remorse here. i do not feel safe in this car at all. chrysler has had more than a reasonable amount of time to either repair or refund this vehicle. i believe they should repurchase it from me so i can invest in something else. and as a side note: i have managed to track down all of he work orders completed on this car except for the first safety recall, and according to chrysler's records, it was repaired by a rental company who is now defund. very shady.

The car is burning oil. 35 qt in 6000 miles. that is all you smell as you drive or at idle. the car jerks back and forth as you drive not good form my 5 yr and 3 yr old necks when its jerking them back and forth. as we brake the car feels like it is giving gas to go. the car has died at stop signs in the middle of know where.

Transmission was replaced due to recall now the gears dont shift right it vibrates and the car jumps forward on its own and takes off like a rocket sometimes in reverse i talked to chrysler they had me bring it back to the dealer as i was driving on a city street the front axle came apart i had it towed they fixed the axle but not the transmission no fix is available is what they said then the left axle started popping i took it back the left strut had to be replaced but still no fix for transmission and its gotten worse.

Takata recall: my car shuts off and will not power back up or allow to start sometimes when i stop. it also will not detect my key fobs while im trying to start it. also, it will jump very badly when going slow(street) or fast(freeway). the car also smelled like fire while i was driving one day. it also had an issue where it shut off while i was reversing. i took it to the dealership 4 times and made a complaint with corporate 2 times. they always seem to say they did not find anything wrong with my car. one of my case numbers with chrysler corporate is 29448239 and the other is 29301258. both were closed although i stated that the issue was not resolved.

Car has become unsafe.while driving at highway speeds,tcm light and gear indicator start flashing. car ceases to accelerate and cuts speed. contacted dealer who said they knew it was a problem.when i said that car was unsafe,service manager keith at tate chrysler said 'i don't know what to tell you, join the other 300,000 people in line" was on us highway 70 doing approx 65 miles an hour when issue occured.

Takata recall on or about 8/25/15, i purchased w/warranty a 2015 chrysler 200 (used). the car shut down while @ a traffic light. on or about 10/11/15. towed to fulton dodge, jeep, chrysler, sacto. ca. for "recall repairs" i experienced the car making forward jerking motions when downshifting & coming to a stop on numerous occasions, again on or about nov. 2015, i were at a local grocery store when the car would not start, and was towed to elk grove dodge, jeep chrysler for further diagnostic and repairs. the car after several weeks driving started jerking upon downshifting and would skip the #2 gear. the vehicle in question was brought back into elk grove dodge, jeep chrysler for further transmission & software repairs on or about dec. 2015. several letters and emails had been written to chrysler corporation complaining about the matter. a "lemon law" complaint had been filed march 2016, settled on or about 4/13/16 with fca., buying back the chrysler, and reimbursement of payments made, except reimbursement for keeping the car insured, i've yet to be notified when and where to return the "coffin" chrysler. my life has been in jeopardy from day of purchase.

This is a recurring problem. it has happened more than 5 times. while increasing or decreasing speed on the adaptive cruise control system using the steering wheel buttons, the adaptive cruise control is disabled and the car screen alerts the driver that adaptive cruise control is unavailable. the dealership has looked at the car twice. the second time, they replaced the computer module for the acc. this did not fix the problem. this can happen on highway, on city roads, while going fast, while going slow. vehicle is always going straight, not turning, as it is unsafe to adjust the controls in a turn.

2015 chrysler 200. consumer writes in regards to unexplained sudden acceleration when coasting or trying to slow down. *smd the consumer stated the first problem he encountered with the vehicle, was a squeaking brake system. after two visits to the shop, the resolved the problem. then it took three to four trips to resolve a problem with the trunk latch that would not release the trunk lid. then it tool a couple of other trips to resolve a problem with a yellow engine earning light that came on for no apparent reason. *jb

I financed the chrysler 200 2015, used on 7/13/15. around august 28th, 2015 i was driving and my car stalled while in motion in a busy intersection. a message appeared on dashboard: "engine warming wait to start", the knob and break locked i could not move the vehicle. the message on the dashboard then changed to: "shift to p." after pressing the push to start button on and off i got the car moving and decided to head to the dealer cautiously, on the way to the dealer it happened another 3 times and i was able to get it to move again and get it in the dealership. they had it in for a few days and told me they fixed the problem. an hour into driving after i left the dealership the car stalled again this time it was dark out and i was on a highway (luckily right lane) the car would not turn back on this time it was completely locked. i exited the vehicle and sat on the side of the highway waiting for a tow truck. (police were called too). this problem was blamed on the r24 recall, a month later i got the car back with the part that had to be replaced and everything seemed fine. the car stalled again on 4/20/2016, same message on dashboard this time it was while moving and making a turn and i almost got hit head on by another vehicle. they took the car in again, said nothing was wrong this time, happened again in june,2016 they said again nothing was wrong. it happened again, the end of sept,2016 and i got a recall notice for the s55 recall which can cause stalling. they kept the car in dealership said they had to wait for part from chrysler. they told me it was fixed and on 11/6/2016 i picked up the car and it stalled about 100ft away from the dealership. they took it back in, and now they said again that it is fixed and for me to pick it up. i am terrified, it is an unsafe, unpredictable vehicle. please investigate chrysler for the sake of safety. help me.

When using cruise control it will not hold speed going down hill - will shift down more than once & will go up to 60+ miles per hour. going over a small hill will shift down more than once usually - not all the time. this has been flashed several times with no change to the problem. when first starting the car the tach stays very high & will decrease as you shift into reverse, but not enough. have to hold your foot on the brake all the time. when leaving from a stop sign the transmission will not go "in" right away - it takes a bit to actually "go".. as you're pulling onto a highway.

Loss of speed& shaking of car as it slowed down & showed to put it p & start. happened also at 30 miles an hour in parking lot, then ran ok 5 miles to dealership. fear to take it any where.

Takata recall well i guess i'll join in with the rest. my 200 is just about a year old. i have just a little over 10,000 miles on it. been back to dealer twice with same problem. speeds up when braking at about 35 mph. then when accelerating engine dies and vehicle slows down....then speeds up. 1st time they downloaded an update... 2nd time they said nothing wrong that they could find. (according to diagnostic codes) i like my car.. let me know when they finally get a fix for this. this is on rural country roads mountainous and hilly. itbis dangerous.

Tl* the contact rented a 2015 chrysler 200 limited from enterprise rental car. while driving 25 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed and jerked. the contact immediately depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to slow down. as a result, the contact rear ended another vehicle. the contact's head struck the driver side window and she was knocked unconscious. the contact was awakened by eyewitnesses hitting the window to alert her to exit the vehicle as the cabin filled with smoke. the contact mentioned that the air bags deployed and she felt a burning sensation on her left leg. the contact was unaware if fire was present as she was transported away by ambulance. the contact sustained fractures to her left and right feet and ankles, as well as third degree burs on her left leg, bruises to her ribs, sternum, and left shoulder. the contact was unaware if there were injuries to the other vehicle occupants. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was deemed a total loss. the contact stated that the vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic, but was unaware of the diagnosis. the contact stated that the independent mechanic informed her that the chrysler 200 had many recalls. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that enterprise rental car sold the vehicle for salvage before they could inspect the vehicle. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was unknown.

On 7/19/15 i was driving my newly purchased chrysler 200s with approximately 10300 miles. while approaching a stop light at 10mph, the car lost all power and coasted to a stop with a "service transmission" message flashing on the screen. i was not able to shift the car out of drive, and the gear selection was blinking in drive. i had to shut the car off and was stranded in the middle of a busy road for 15 minutes. i restarted the car and was able to drive it to the dealership. they replaced the tcm module and re-flashed the software. on 7/22/15 i returned to the dealership to pickup my car. while the service technician was pulling the car around, the car's transmission failed and was stuck in reverse this time, unable to shift out of reverse. they reprogrammed the valve body and performed a re-learn. i picked the car up 7/23/15 and was assured everything was fixed. while driving home from work on 7/24/15 on the interstate (75mph), the cars transmission again failed, leaving me with no throttle power on the interstate, nearly causing a collision with a semi truck. the same error messages as the first incident were flashing on the car's screen. i coasted the car to the site of the interstate and shut it off completely. after 15 minutes i restarted the car and drove it to the dealership. i am very concerned this car is going to get myself or someone else seriously injured.
