We have classified the 517 complaints from 2015 Chrysler 200 about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
While on vacation, i was travelling down a highway at 60 mph. suddenly the accelerator on my recently leased 2015 chrysler 200 somehow decoupled with the drive train. the d in my dashboard started flashing and the car began coasting. the engine was on, and i had power steering, but no acceleration. somehow, without any ability to control my cars speed, i got to the shoulder without being hit by one of the many 18 wheelers on the freeway. the car had just over 800 miles on the odometer. eventually the car was towed to a local dealership. they helped me rent a car and i continued my vacation. they replaced a faulty crank sensor and i returned to pick the car up a week later. but before id even driven 30 miles, i experienced the exact same problem again. as the d in the dashboard flashed, the car essentially went into neutral and began coasting down the freeway. i almost caused an accident getting to the side of the road. my heart was racing after this horrific and exasperating experience. chrysler roadside assistance towed the car to a nearby dealership that couldnt recreate the problem, so the dealership where i bought the car had it returned to them. they kept my car in the shop for a full week, eventually replacing the pmc. i picked up my repaired car, but lo and behold, before i had driven much more than 20 miles, the exact same thing happened for a third time, but this time on a surface road. by this time, im out of my mind with fear, indignation and frustration. this is my life. i only have one of them that i know of. i want to extend it as long as possible. the 2015 chrysler 200 is dangerous and i will never feel comfortable driving it. im looking at all the possible ways i can get away from this unsafe and unreliable vehicle.

We purchesed a 2015 chyrsler 200 in april 2015. in july the check engine light came on so the car was taken in on july 25th for maintenace and state inspection as well due to engine light being on and car shifting hard. recieved call on july 27th stating car was ready for pick. on 07/27/15 car was returned due to check engine light coming back on, at that time was told car needed a new transmisson. car was returned on 07/30/15 with new transmission. starting in mid november the car began to shift hard again, called dealership and scheduled car for service on 12/03/15, was told car was fine per computer system. once car was picked up from dealership and driven we realized car was still shifting and jerking hard. took car back to dealership on 12/15/15 was told car was fine and that three other cars were tested and all had the same shifting issue. as of 12/28/15 car is still shfiting and jerking very hard with no resolve.

On 7/19/15 i was driving my newly purchased chrysler 200s with approximately 10300 miles. while approaching a stop light at 10mph, the car lost all power and coasted to a stop with a "service transmission" message flashing on the screen. i was not able to shift the car out of drive, and the gear selection was blinking in drive. i had to shut the car off and was stranded in the middle of a busy road for 15 minutes. i restarted the car and was able to drive it to the dealership. they replaced the tcm module and re-flashed the software. on 7/22/15 i returned to the dealership to pickup my car. while the service technician was pulling the car around, the car's transmission failed and was stuck in reverse this time, unable to shift out of reverse. they reprogrammed the valve body and performed a re-learn. i picked the car up 7/23/15 and was assured everything was fixed. while driving home from work on 7/24/15 on the interstate (75mph), the cars transmission again failed, leaving me with no throttle power on the interstate, nearly causing a collision with a semi truck. the same error messages as the first incident were flashing on the car's screen. i coasted the car to the site of the interstate and shut it off completely. after 15 minutes i restarted the car and drove it to the dealership. i am very concerned this car is going to get myself or someone else seriously injured.
For the second time now car stalls while driving in traffic and quits pulling almost been in two accidents.
i have requested chrysler to buy back this vehicle before it kills someone or me. issue is transmission selector knob. safety complaint: just below the radio and at the forward position of the center console is where the ac fan control knob is located, 3 inches below that, is the transmission selector knob. both are similar in size and shape. the knob has one safety feature that requires the brake pedal to be depressed before the position from park to r n d l is selected. once in motion (forward) the transmission selector knob can be placed in reverse without any warning that the vehicle is in the reverse position while driving forward, other than a tiny r symbol located between tachometer and speedometer within the instrument cluster and a yellow dash mark under the transmission selector knob that indicates which position the transmission is in. my wife and i have had several incidents where we would reach down and turn the ac knob counter clockwise to reduce ac fan output without realizing we put the car in reverse. once the car comes to a stop it will be in reverse ,step on the gas and you are going backwards with little time to react. we have several children, teens and tots. imagine this scenario while in a school zone picking up your child while others are crossing in front and behind the vehicle. other vehicles with this design require a push down and turn safety feature that works. i understand as a 45 year driver and owner of many vehicles over the years that ultimate responsibilities are the drivers. but you will soon see that this design will kill or injure someone. it is very easy for the passenger to make the same mistake without the driver being aware. it has happened with our teen. she bumped the knob some how and it was in reverse, came to a stop and took off in reverse. thankfully no one was behind at the time. 1 recall 6 service visits. darwin
The transmisson lunges and delays when shifting.this does not happens all the time but does occur. once at a stop light, when the light turned green there was no response when i stepped on the gas peddle.after i let up on the peddle and pushed it again there was a response. the delay was long enough to have cars blowing their horns behind me. i fear that the transmission could fail anytime.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. the contact stated that the transmission warning light randomly flashed, the vehicle had a drastic reduction in speed and stalled several times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice and the contact stated that they replaced two different sensors but the failure recurred. the contact also mentioned that the key fob also failed to work intermittently. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who tightened the motor mounts. the contact was waiting on instructions from the manufacturer to instruct the dealer on repairing the vehicle. the failure mileage was not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the tcm and the pcm modules were reprogrammed; however, the failure recurred. the manufactured was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 2,526.
My vehicle has on multiple occasions experienced a jerk in which the vehicle will accelerate with and force from myself. the 9-speed transmission will shift at such a rapid and uncomfortable speed that the car jerks at ever shift. i was braking for a stoplight last week when the gear shifted and jerked causing acceleration that almost made me rear-end the vehicle in front of me already stopped. i have already had my transmission replaced two weeks after buying the vehicle. they then replaced the computer system and am now still experiencing the same issues. i was told by the dealership that there is nothing they can do until chrysler releases a recall that provides a computer update to fix the issue. i emailed corporate but they refuse to respond to me and no one will provide assistance on this issue. i honestly just don't want to killed in an accident because of chrysler's' negligence.
Vehicle shut off while driving approx. 40 mph. vehicle started blinking put car in park, service transmission, service park break. then, it shut off on its own. all gears locked up and car would not restart. i was a sitting duck in the roadway. this has happened x2, july 2nd, 2015 and august 10th, 2015. had it towed both times. first time chrysler dealer stated they replaced tcm. this second time they are stating the car is reading multiple codes and they don't know what to fix.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the transmission independently shifted into neutral. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. the vehicle restarted as normal. the failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. on a separate occasion while driving, the vehicle unintended increased acceleration. the failure also occurred when in the reverse position. the vehicle was taken to the dealer on five occasions but the failure was unable to be determined. most recent, the contact received nhtsa campaign number: 15v470000 (electrical system) however, the part was unavailable to perform the repair. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 350. vin tool confirms parts not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. the contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was engaged at low speeds, the vehicle started violently shaking without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 7,000.
My car jerks and/or hesitates while driving or accelerating from stop or coasting at 30 - 55mph . from a complete stop position my car has sputtered and rattled like the transmission or engine was having trouble engaging. i have a rattling sound coming from the engine compartment and you can hear it clearly coming from the passenger side with the windows down. a brand new car and it has a lot of transmission issues. chrysler doesn't do anything unless it throws a code. 15 times in the repair shop. the car is at the shop now, and the tech is having trouble recreating the issue. please someone do something about this.
Tl* the contact rented a 2015 chrysler 200. the contact stated that while inside of the vehicle, he discovered that the gear shift was a dial knob. the contact was concerned that if the gear shift was inadvertently bumped, the vehicle would switch gears independently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was unknown. the vin was unavailable.
The car was moving about 25 mph when dash erupted in multiple failure warnings including transmission temperature problem. transmission locked in first gear and would not shift out of first. pulled over and waited. dash and transmission after several minutes returned to normal and i drove slowly home. brought car to dealer on 29th and they updated software. had this event occurred on the highway i often use i believe the sudden loss of transmission response and locking up in first gear would have caused my car to be in an accident.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. the contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled as the check engine and the transmission warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, however the vehicle began to exhibit the same failure. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v090000 (power train) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 12,000.
1st incident: june 26th car dies in driveway. engine is running no power to wheel. have it flat bedded to greenwood chrysler cortland ohio. they say it was a bad connection in computer. replace two connectors. get car back on 6/30/15. july 1st, driving car down road doing 25 to 30 mph, loose all power to drive train coast to side of road. flat bed it back to dealer. this time the say the are replacing wiring harness is shifter. get car back on july 11th driving back from dealership loose power to drive train again going over a rail crossing. thank god was able to coast across and to the side of road. flat bed it back to dealer notify chrysler headquarters given a case number. get car back on july 21st again they said they replaced another wiring harness. car loses power to drive train again. 17 miles from dealership right before crossing a four lane highway. if i let this car back on the road some is going to get killed in it. please note this is a fully loaded car with a 9 speed transmission. i think if you investigate this is not the only one having problems.
Car will randomly shift from drive to neutral while driving and become completely unresponsive. some times it allows you to pull over and put into park then drive, most times the entire car except the radio, become unresponsive and have to pull positive battery terminal to reset car. i've brought the car in for service 3 times now with same issue. every time is getting more and more dangerous as problem is not easily reproducible and have almost been struck by cars from behind or on side of road.
Tuesday, june 16, while driving 60mph to work an audible ding, and the d indicator flashing and no power to the wheels, but engine running. i shifted to n then d and resumed power to the wheels. i took to dealer where they had the car for 3 days, and said they did a software update to correct. sunday, 4:30pm, july 5th. waiting at stop light there was an audible ding, and the dashboard lights flashed and the automatic s indicator flashing and there was no transfer of power to the wheels. i turned the shift knob to n then back to d, and the transmission engaged, but the esc (electronic speed control), not the traction control, light on the dash came on and wouldn't shut off until i stopped the car and restarted the ignition. monday july 6th, 11am, while driving on the highway around 60mph, the audible ding, then d indicator started flashing and there was no power to the wheels, but the motor is running. i turned the shift knob to n, then back to d and the power to the wheels engaged, but the esc indicator stayed lit. this happened three more times within a 6 hour period as i was on a long drive out of state. friday, july 10th, the audible ding, then all the dash lights flashing, and a message on the display"service trans stop safely shut off engine to engage park". i just got on the highway going 40mph, and barely got to the curb, and i couldn't turn the shift knob as it was locked. all the shift indicator lights were lit. i turned the car off and restarted and continued to drive. monday, july 13th, just left the house for work and got about 2 miles going 30mph and the same scenario with the "service trans stop safely...." occurred. i'm trying to schedule another appointment for service.

1.delayed/harsh shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. especially harsh when the vehicle was cold. 2.vehicle lunges forward when downshifting rapidly. for example, if i was driving 55mph and had to stop quickly, as the transmission downshifted the entire vehicle would thrust/jump around 3rd-4th gears. it almost feels like the car is going to accelerate instead of stopping. 3.in a situation where the vehicle is slowed, but not stopped, and then accelerated (such as exiting a parking lot onto a major road), once the accelerator is applied, the engine rpms shoot up, but the transmission delays dramatically before upshifting, causing the vehicle to jerk. 4.at speeds between 24-26mph, the transmission jumps around wildly between gears causing the vehicle to jerk. after multiple service visits and software updates, the transmission and torque converter were replaced. the vehicle has been driven for over 3 weeks since this repair, and issues 2, 3 & 4 still exist. other issues: 1.intermittent extended crank time'2-3 times longer than a typical crank before starting. a.engine code showed the dealership there had been extended crank times. dealership attempted repairs, citing an oil pressure problem, but issue continued. b.on a separate service visit, we were told this was due to a recall and they were awaiting parts. c.recall work was performed around 12/1/15, but the issue still exists. the issue has actually gotten substantially worse since the weather has gotten cold. 5.'park' not engaging properly. when putting the vehicle into 'park', there was a loud clunking sound. when the brake was released, the car would roll forward. a.this issue seems to have been resolved by repairs around 12/1/15.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled, would not engage when placed into park, and did not supply enough power for acceleration. when the failures occurred, all the warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired, but the failure recurred four times. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v470000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact was made aware by chrysler that they do not have a remedy for the transmission failure. the failure mileage was 19,000. parts distribution disconnect.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle started on its own while unoccupied. in addition, when the gear shifter was shifted to drive, the vehicle remained idle even when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the failures recurred intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 9,000.

Pulled out of my parking spot and engine stalled and shut off said to put in park and it struggled to turn over, then drove down the road and stalled again happened about 6-7 times already also happened to me 3 times within 5 mins
I was merging onto the highway and my dashboard started blinking telling me i had to park the car. once i parked it i could not get it to start again and had it towed to chrysler. they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it and reset the pcm to get it to start again.
Car loses oil even when not due for oil change not burning up just loses it cause car to stall and not start horrible engineering flaw just had a oil change last week and continues to do this
When i am driving my whole panel turns off and on, i go to take off and it hesiate a few seconds than goes, it does it at stop lights and while on the highway in traffic, brakes make a real loud noise i leave it park most of the time i am at 6320 mile i bought it in april 17, 2015 i should be over 10,000 mile but i am afraid to drive it
My girlfriend was driving car with our 2 daughters in the back seat at approximately 60 mph during morning traffic on interstate 64 in st. louis at around 8 a.m.. she was in the middle lane and the car started beeping, service transmission light appeared and started to lose the ability to accelerate or power vehicle. engine was still running, but basically brought her to a stop in the center lane of traffic. cars shifter knob was locked in gear, but would not go anywhere. tried turning car off and back on, but would not go into a moving gear to get out of the middle of the interstate. a couple of motorists tried to assist, but car would not go anywhere. after about 20 minutes when police finally arrived, the car would go into gear and was able to get to shoulder. dealership had car for 2 weeks. 3 days before even looking at the vehicle and another week waiting on a part. replaced shifter and transmission control module. said car was fixed. car did same thing on 7/3/15, now with a little over 18,000 miles, this time in a residential area about 3 blocks from home. same beeping sound and service transmission message. only difference is after turning vehicle off and restarting the car, she was able to get in gear and make it home. after about an hour, i went and looked at the car and drove around the block. check engine light was still on. car was very jumpy shifting into both r and d. when returning and putting back into p, made a mechanical sound like a timer being turned. when driver showed up to tow away, check engine light was off, but made same sound when he put parking brake on and off. this is a very serious safety issue and hope is handled before someone dies because their car loses power on a 2 lane road and gets rear ended by an 18 wheeler coming over a hill or around a corner and can't stop in time. i want this car to be bought back by fca. *tr
This vehicle has a horrible transmission. it changes gears when it wants to! several times we have had a issue with the accelerator going like someone put their foot on the gas pedal...by itself!! i have almost rear ended someone 3times because of it. there needs to be a recall on these vehicles.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop without warning. the contact stated that the drivers side seat belt failed to unlatch. a bystander hit the seat belt button with his fist to unlatch the seatbelt. the contact and the passengers opened the doors and exited the vehicle. while the doors were still opened, the locks independently locked. the key fob failed to unlock the doors. the vehicle was unable to be shifted into park or neutral. the vehicle was towed to an impound lot and was eventually towed to the dealer. after the incident, the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v470000 (electrical system). the dealer diagnosed that the pdc and the pcm needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable.
2015 chrysler 200. consumer writes in regards to transmission problems and other mechanical/ technical issues. *smd the consumer experienced transmission failure. the engine light on the dash illuminated. the vehicle shifted roughly, there was a faulty transfer of power, and the vehicle surged forward unexpectedly and the engine refused to turn off. the consumer was informed the transmission software was adjusted and the problem was solved. however, two days later, the engine light illuminated again. the consumer returned to the dealer and the following day, he was informed the vehicle needed a new transmission. the vehicle was returned to the consumer four days later with the replacement transmission. however, the consumer continued to experience similar problems before the replacement. the vehicle shifted roughly and intermittently, while cruising, and when lightly pressing the gas pedal, the vehicle would seemingly hesitate only to engage after a moment of uncertainty. *jb

The vehicle had two transmission failures where it broke down the first time on the freeway and the second time in the city. those two transmission failures have not been reported to any car history report agency or the public. this might be putting someone life at risk. i have to say this that we didn't find any of the following: durability, reliability, and safety in the vehicle and those were the reason we didn't dive the car that often.
Ive been havng problems with my vehicle since i first purchased. the car slips gears and takes off and stagger while on highway. ive made several attempts to have problem fixed by chrysler. i was told that the transmission doesn't match with software and chrysler is looking to fix issue in the future. thecar feels really unsafe. after doing research, i also noticed that this car was sold to me way above price that was offered to others. i also feel that the contract is no longer valid as the car dealership requested a certain amount to pay off my trade in. i later found that the amount was nearly $300 less than the requested amount. i was told that any excess fund will be released to me. its been over a year and i have yet to receive the refund.
I was driving in a school zone at about 15 mph when the car jerked then bounced 3 or 4 times. the slowed and when i pressed the gas the rpm's increased but the car did not accelerate. i pulled into a parking lot and put the car in psrk but the d was flashing as if it was still in drive. warning light were also flashing. after several minutes i was able to restart the car an drive to work. since then it feels like the transmission is always trying to change gears.

I was driving down the street going 25 mph and when i pushed down on gas pedal it felt like my transmission jerk and stalled for a second and then started driving normal. i jus bought this car on april 29 2015 and it's and it's doing this already. *tr
I bought this car brand new with only 9 miles, it drove home perfectly. the next day i was leaving my driveway which is not on an incline and when i put it in reverse i let off of the brake and it immediately shot backwards before i could even press the gas. i had to slam on the brakes! i thought it was a one time fluke but sure enough about a week later i started noticing unintentional acceleration during braking as well as extremely hard shifting. i contacted the dealership and have an appointment tomorrow but not sure if i can her there or not as i noticed a very loud sound today when the car is in drive. this car has several issues that need addressed and fast!
5/19 the engine stall while driving of nj parkway, was able to coast to side of road. towed to dealer for service, dealer said it was a sensor. got the car back on 5/21. on 5/23 it happen again, the vehicle was towed back to dealer for same issue. was told some pins were loose in the wiring harness. got the car back on 6/6. on 7/6 it happen a third time, on 7/8 the dealer told me they could not duplicate the problem. car still at the dealer service area liccardi motors. when i called to talk to the dealer, i was told to claim lemon law you must go through the courts.
1) power train-while traveling on interstate at 65mph the transmission pops out of gear. i had to pull over put the car in park and then back to drive before it would go. it also happened when i was pulling away from a stop sign making a right turn it popped out of gear and wouldn't go. i drifted to the side of the road stopped, went to park and back to drive. the car acts confused form time to time. from a stop position at take off the transmission jerks and then thumps before it goes into gear. 2). cruise control- traveling down interstate in the mountain region of n. georgia, my cruise was set for 55mph. the cruise picked up speed up to 70 mph then the car started jerking very confused at what it was suppose to be doing. the brake wouldn't release the cruise control. i did get it released once the rpm's settled down. it has happen several times at various locations in the mountains and on flat ground. 3) the head lights are the worst lights i've ever seen on a car. when going down the road you may have 30 ft. that you can see in front of you. when going up and incline what so ever. your visibility from the headlight is approximately 20 foot in front of you. terrible headlights. its scary going up any incline not being able to see what's 25 foot in front of you. all of these issues have been reported at my dealership. all of these issues have happen on more than one occasion.

I am filing a complaint to express my frustration and anger. also because it states on the recall notice i received that i can submit a written complaint if the dealership "fails to remedy this defect within a reasonable time". there is a recall on my vehicle, the transaxle park rod. the recall notice advised to contact the dealership on or after may 1, 2015 to schedule a service appointment. i did so a week later and brought my vehicle in on saturday, may 16th. a few hours after dropping off my vehicle, i received a call informing me that my vehicle did not pass the recall test and that they needed to keep my vehicle for a few days. i then received a call the following monday, may 18th and was informed that the part needed to fix my vehicle is on back-order!!! i called the dealership today because it's been two weeks now that i've been without my vehicle. they told me that the part is still on back-order and that we're on the waiting list. what the [xxx] is that?! i understand that my vehicle is being repaired without charge but this is an extreme inconvenience and is ridiculous. i don't understand how the part is not available or a limited supply of it. to hear the dealership tell me that they are unsure when they will be receiving the part and that i'm on the "wait-list" is very upsetting and frustrating. i even asked if i could just get my car and have them call me when the part arrives and they told me "no because it isn't safe to drive." okay, i understand that, i get it, but i've been driving the vehicle for [xxx] near a year now, and had no safety problems with it. so why can't i have my vehicle in my possession? i just want my freaking car back!!! and not knowing a time frame is very unsettling. so please enlighten me on what chrysler considers a "reasonable time" for remedying this defect? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
