While driving my vehicle back the office from my lunch break, i made a right hand turn onto the main road and began to accelerate the vehicle with more gas. at about 35mph the car engine completely shut off and i had to coast to the side of the road with no power steering. i had to wait approximately 20 mins until my car would restart again. i was able to get back on the road until after another few hundred yards of driving the car stalled again completely. i was then forced to call a tow truck to have it taken to an auto shop.

I bought my car brand new in 2012 from chryaler dodge and jeep in springfield pa. i babe around 96,000 miles on my car and this will now be the third alternator that has been put in my vehicle. from what i know, the alternator should last up between 80,000 to 100,000 miles. i believe there has to have been a defect with my specific car. along with some of the other recall items i am now reading about with my model, having kids, i am increasingly concerned about my health and saftey driving this vehicle. i want to know what can be done about this on your end

The heater on the passenger side of the car is not heating up and blows very cold air making it hard to defrost the window to see when driving

I was driving on the expressway and my car died without any warning. i brought it to the dealership and they said i had oil in the injectors. they cleaned it up and sent me on my way for $715. not even a month later i'm still having the same issues and now sometimes it's not starting. so another repair shop changed the battery and starter, after the work they run some tests and say that i have a bad tipm to bring it back to the dealership. i bring it back to them and they want around $1800 now for this repair. i called chrysler and spoke with them about this and they refused to help in any way with this situation even though we are loyal dodge family customers(on our 5th vehicle). the reviews online show many people having this issue and it is a very dangerous and scary experience having your car die in the middle of the expressway with no power steering. i definitely think there should be a recall for this part to save the lives of others on the roadways. thanks in advance

Engine light came on, had battery replaced since the battery was about 6 years old. car has only 29582 miles on it. seemed to fix then while driving 3 miles later battery light came on again. decided to take to dealer the mext morning. then while driving to dealership the car began to rapidly lose functionality while warning lights were appearing on the dashboardone by one until it car lost power while driving. the time from no warning lights to complete loss of electrical functionality was approximately 2 minutes. the shut down included an abrupt loss of power steering and braking capabilities while driving on a busy street during day. i was able to quickly compensate for the loss of power steering and braking and stop the vehicle while drifting into a gas station parking lot. attempts to restart the vehicle involved no clicking or the engine attempting to turn over. had car towed to dealership. i can only assume ot may be the alternator since battery is brand new now. i am wondering if this is part of campaign #17v-435 but my car is a chrysler 200 3.6 engine 6 cylinder touring convertible and that recall does not show 200's on the notice. i have not gotten any recall noticies for this type of problem.. i bought car brand new. i am the only owner and faithfully take my car to the dealer for maintenance and oil changes.

Still not fixed. cleaned throttle body, and when that didn't resolve the issue they replaced throttle body. car still stalls at random times, both while moving and waiting at lights. almost been in several accidents. all loss of power steering and control of the car.

Alternator dies at 78,000 miles. heat no longer works due to heating core at 60,000 miles.

Air bag light is on , going threw brakes and tires every 6 months sense i bought it in 2016. also no heat started at passanger side and worked its way towards drivers side. also front windows do not go down started passanger side and 3 months later no driver side. also was driving about 35 mph made right hand turn car has stalled 5 times.

Engine shuts off on highway going full speed limit surrounded by heavy traffic. i was terrified. the engine light comes on & can't get car started. then car starts & engine light goes away. not to mention transmission is leaking & new transmission was put in 2015. chrysler can't get me in until 4/19/18 bc its busy season. this may be why windshield wipers come on everytime i turn left.

Vehicle shuts off while driving. this happened 3 times in less than 3 years. driving vehicle and instrument panel lights up and vehicle shuts down. 1st time - july 2015, this happened coming into a roundabout - lost all power including steering and brakes. was lucky enough that no other vehicles were around. dealer replaced tipm. same thing happened less than 1 year later (april 2016). in a parking lot and vehicle just shut off. dealer replaced tipm again stating part failure - under warranty since was less than 1 year since replacement. now less than 2 years later on 12/26/17 vehicle shut off while driving 70mph on the highway! was lucky enough to be on 2 lane highway instead of 4 and able to get to the side of the road. took to dealer that purchased from (happened closer to that dealer than the one that previously had fixed). explained situation, that part was replaced before same thing happening. they said nothing wrong, couldnt find anything and sent me on my way - drove back roads because i was afraid to drive. not even 30 miles later and same thing happened. shut down while driving. able to restart vehicle every time. took to dealer that had fixed in the past. tipm failure again! this is 3 times that the part has failed. covered under warranty again - they said part warranty had been extended from 1 to 2 years. this is a known problem and definately a safety hazard!! i got the car fixed and traded it in the day i got it back! 3rd failure was at 113k miles. car purchased brand new in 2012.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chrysler 200. the contact stated that there was a premature failure with the vent control electronic function. the vent controls failed to generate warm air when the heating function was used. an independent mechanic stated that the heater core needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin and failure mileage were not available.

The car accumulates debris below the windshield under the plastic tray which clogs up a drain tube which then makes the water flood back through the heater core into the passenger side of the car . wetting the floor soaking the carpet and causing rust and black mold. i had it fixed once, but after investigation into the chrysler cars that this is an on going problem with all their vehicles for yrs now. this needs to be recalled and this design flaw fixed. either they need to have free maintenance of this or they need to have a separate tube for rain drainage and a different tube for ac heat drainage.. it has cause depreciation of my over all resale value of this car plus caused carpet padding damage rust and possibly mold in my car.. chrysler keeps laying back on the owners saying maintenance problem .. and charging over 500 to fix it. it's not like an owner can easily clean this area it involves take apart the windshield wipers etc

My stepdaughter's car (2012 chrysler 200), apparently has a bad tipm. took it to checker who diagnosed the "check engine" light which had come on and told us it was most likely the tipm. we then took it to the local chrysler dealer (earnhardt, chrysler, jeep, dodge, ram in gilbert, az) for an n38 recall issue (active head restraint/air bag) they told us they would reset the tipm module and we were hoping to have the issue resolved. it should be noted that before we took it for the recall issue, the car had seemed to be working fine and mysteriously the check engine light had turned off. well, lo and behold after they reprogrammed the tipm and did the air bag recall we picked up the car and my wife immediately noticed that the check engine light had reappeared and the car was once again driving like [xxx]! i came home and started doing research and found this webpage that told me to file complaints, however, i also noticed that there was apparently a software patch that chrysler came out with as a result of this problem. i called chrysler @ 800-992-1997 thinking i might get someone who could give me more information but of course this hapless character didn't know what the hell i was talking about in reference to a "software patch" he did call the dealership we were just at for the recall, but of course, got nothing but an answering machine. he told me he left a message and they would call back monday to talk about our concerns. i'm not holding my breath waiting for the call. what bothers me most, and is extremely frustrating is the fact that thousands of people have contacted chrysler and other sources and have gotten nowhere. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chrysler 200. when the contact attempted to drive the vehicle, the heater on the front passenger side failed to function and prevented the passenger side window from defrosting. the vehicle was taken to doug marine motors (1120 clinton ave, washington ct house in oh 43160) where it was diagnosed that the heater core needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

When i turn on the fan when using the heater or the air conditioner there is a noticeable clicking sound coming from the dash on the passenger side of the car. the sound at this time is lasting about 30 seconds or so then stops. this happens when driving or standing still.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chrysler 200. when the contact shifted the gear into the park position, the instrument panel gauges fluctuated independently and the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to an independent tow company (718-828-1500) who informed the contact that the alternator failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired due to the quote provided. the manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 101,580.

To start off the abs and traction control will not stop turning off and on even after replacing everything . almost all the time when it rains they will kick in the e brake and start grinding . no matter how many times i change the brakes and rotors and master control they never stop squeaking . lastly almost all the electrical problems started after the alternator failed and i had to replace it . my speedometer just died on me today and i have no clue how that happened .

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chrysler 200. the contact stated that there was no heat coming from the front passenger side vent and the defroster also failed to function on the front passenger side. the dealer (landmark dodge chrysler jeep ram, 1900 s noland rd, independence, mo 64055, 1-(816) 833-2100) was contacted for routine servicing and they flushed the radiator, but the failure continued. the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

Purchased a used chrysler 200 in february 2017 at 87,xxx mi. it is now june 2017 and 3 times in the last 3 days my car has suddenly died. the first time i was slowing down and made a right turn and upon accelerating it died, dash lights illuminated, quickly tried to restart and was unsuccessful with just nothing happening when turning key. took key out of ignition and retried and started right up. next day i was again slowing down and making a right turn and bam same thing same details. 3rd incident i was driving straight and the car stalled this time i was doing about 15 mph and the steering locked up, quickly took key out and restarted. engine light was on and diagnosed as crankshaft position sensor malfunction. replaced the sensor and have only driven for short distance as the first 2 times this happened were terrifying enough. after hours of online research i've found this is common and just being neglected. chrysler fix this issue before someone gets seriously injured

The convertible top motor is broken and the top will not go up or down. luckily it is broken in the up position. i have been trying to get the part replaced through chrysler and all they can tell me is that the part has been discontinued and no after market parts are even available. i bought this car in october 2016, because l wanted a convertible and now i have been without a working top since june 4,2017. i was parked in my driveway when l tried to put the top down and it would not work. i have been told by the chrysler dealership that the part number needed to fix this problem is #68028392aa.

My 2012 chrysler 200 hard top convertible top will not go up or down. it was in a stationary position when i tried to put the top down and it would not go down. it has been broken since june 4,2017. the part number to replace it is 68028392aa. this part has been discontinued and therefore i am unable to put my top up and down. i have tried to work with the local dealer and have even contacted fca (chrysler administration). to date i have not been able to get any results. can you please help? thank you.

I am writing this complaint in response to my 2012 200 chrysler which has completely lost all power. it started out with the windshield wipers stopping on me and then one day while driving the car i lost power. the steering wheel locked up and the car came to a complete stop. luckily i wasn't on the highway and was pulling into the parking lot of my office building. after speaking with chrysler i was told there was nothing they could do since this part is no longer covered under warranty. it seems strange to me that this part on my car had a recall for the software a few years ago and now the hardware is bad. i see a ton of complaints on this very issue including a lawsuit. if safety is of concern, it would seem like they would anything in their power to help the consumer.

Engine shuts off while driving down the road. it happens on the freeway, on city streets, or at idle. we had the pcm updated in december 2016. it is now march 2017 and the vehicle continues to shut down while driving or at idle. it is extremely dangerous. the brakes barely work and you lose power steering when this happens. this is a serious issue and needs to be addressed. there are hundreds if not thousands of posts online about this issue, with no resolution. this needs to be addressed before someone dies.

Totally integrated control module has failed leaving my car unable to start and once started have lurches in acceleration. will crank but not start.

My car received a software update for the pcm on 3/2/2017. on 03/6/2017 my car shut off completely in the middle of driving down the interstate.

While driving the car.. the cars electrical system stopped working. while driving on the freeway the car shut down and was almost in severe car accident because of the issue.there is a new battery and the alternator has been checked and is in great working condition.

Passenger side pushes out cold air, terrible to drive in and uncomfortable. battery has been replaced 4 times in the last 2 years. alternator as well. while driving to work, my windshield frosted over from being so cold and i had to veer off the road to avoid getting into an accident.

Vehicle stalled and would not start while driving (2 times )towed to dealer as (both times) tow driver could not restart. dealer reported no computer codes and car started after car started on problem. there appears to be common safety hazard that has been experienced by many owners, that reportly chrysler and nhtsa agreed upon a resolution to avoid a recall by chrysler of this safety hazard in sept 2012. chrysler doesn't acknowledge and not sharing this information with dealers so they can take corrective action. various attempts tried to resolve this hazardous condition have included replacing the powertrain module, camscope replacement, monitoring the on board with a copilot computer-which also showed no codes. the dealer did say that chrysler suggested an additional module be added to the on board computer, but none of their customers returned a third or more times as previous attempts were unsuccessful and appeared to give up. this life threatening safety hazard needs to beinvestigated and resolved, as we were driving on a roadway and the motor just shut off., if this not resolved it will sometime cause injuries or deaths, which could end up with a recall something that chrysler possible replacement of on computers.

The dealership wants to charge me $1800 to replace the tipm, but i see other chrysler models have been recalled for the same thing... except mine hasn't. this isn't just a minor inconvenience... it's very very unsafe: 'the fuel pump not turning off and burning out 'the airbags not deploying or deploying randomly 'the engine stalling while driving 'the starter cranks but won't start 'the horn going off at random times 'power windows not working 'doors locking or unlocking themselves my wipers, horn and lights go on at random times. at times it's while i'm driving.... sometimes it's while it's parked. the car doesn't even need to be turned on for this to happen. it's drained my battery a few times and now it's not even drivable. it started back in november, 2016, but has continued through the present. i haven't been able to drive it for the last 2 weeks.

There is no heat on passenger side so the defrost does not work and it affects visibility when driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chrysler 200. the contact stated that the vehicle would not generate heat. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the heater core malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 54,000....updated 05/19/17 *bf *cn

Takada recall while driving down the road at 40 mph. i heard a chime and looked down at my instrument panel. the abs and the electronic stability control was on. light was on for both. but instead of the esc it was the little car with wavy, jiggly lines under it. these two lights have been on constant for a good 3 weeks. it has gone out while driving a few times for a few minutes just to come back on and stay on almost all the time. there is no flashing of the lights. i don't drive every day. i drive around 5 times a week and short distances of 2 to 4 miles for the most part. there is also a whistling nice coming from the front of the vehicle. i don't think it is very safe to drive since the brakes and traction of the car are all to important part of me and my families safety. please help with this issue. i paid and am still paying a lot for this car that now has 62000. miles on it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chrysler 200. while driving 60 mph, the contact realized that the passenger side of the vehicle became cold. while the defroster was activated, the contact realized that only the driver's side was defrosting and not the passenger side. while the vehicle was stationary, the passenger side began to defrost. while the vehicle was in motion, the passenger side became cold. the dealer (east gate chrysler, 500 n shadeland ave, indianapolis, in) diagnosed that the heater core failed. the vehicle was not repaired. there were no recalls associated with the vin. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 100,000.

Takata recall ----while driving, in motion, to pick up my daughter from school i start to hear a winding sound. my electrical system that powers the radio and uconnect system starts to shut down. my abs light and esc light comes on and im starting to smell a burning in the car, while this winding sound is getting louder, smoke is coming from the hood. the timing or transmission is disabled , the car shutsdown in the middle of the road, in front of the school exit. we could have been struck from behind or the side of the vehicle. car smells like it caught fire.

Re s61/nhtsa 16v-668 i had this condition and paid to have it repaired. chrysler (fca) has been telling me for almost a year that they will reimburse me for the repair as soon as they determine the needed part. they state that they still don't have an identified repair so i have to keep waiting for my refund. that is not timely resolution.

With no warning, no engine light, on i pulled out into traffic, turning right on a two way road the car went into traffic and suddenly no power. i was lucky to be able to drift on the shoulder. i towed my car to the dealer and was told it was the crank sensor. i asked what caused it, because i had no warning, they said it was probably a short. this could have been very tragic.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chrysler 200. while the vehicle was parked, the front passenger side headrest air bag inadvertently deployed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed. the contact was informed that the recall stated only to replace the module, not the headrest part. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (electrical system, air bags). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chrysler 200. the contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated and the horn randomly sounded without warning. in addition, the vehicle randomly stalled numerous times. a pass time failure occurred and the dealer rewired the vehicle. a mechanic indicated that the tipm was faulty and may need to be replaced. the mechanic suggested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer for further inspection. the dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was uncertain as to why they indicated that the orc module needed to be replaced, but did not verify if the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (air bags and electrical system). the vehicle was not repaired. the contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine a repair solution for the vehicle. the approximate failure mileage was 89,444.
