Stalled and died several times while leaving work. rpms would jump and fall for no reason. when it was wet outside it was worse. took to dealer 3xs they could not get it to duplicate so nothing was done. it would often stall at red lights and while in drive. *tr

The problem: popping #33 fuse (switch bank/diagnostic link connector/pcm), have been replacing fuses each and every time so i can go on with my business. i find that it happens between shifting gears. it does not matter if you are in drive/automatic mode or auto-stick mode. did not turn my car in right away (now i wish i would have) because i would have felt silly if i had my car towed and the tech. found that a $.25 fuse was blown. this is a very serious issue with a risk factor through the roof because the drive train completely shuts down. no power steering, no power brakes. at highway speeds you pucker up and hope you can make it to the side without getting into an accident before your car comes to a complete stop. first time it happened, it just rained heavily and i thought something got wet - entering the freeway up shift from 2nd-3rd 34084 miles second time, turning into my driveway downshift from 2nd to 1st - coincidence? 35028 miles third time, abrupt stop downshift from 6th to 1st 36013 fourth time - pulling into work downshift from 3rd to 2nd 37112 fifth time - slowing down on expressway downshift 5th to 4th 38223 sixth time - slowing to a stop downshift 2nd to 3rd 38,764 seventh time - during rush hour stop and go traffic (the last straw) up-shift 2nd to 3rd 39,134 eighth time - within 15 minutes of seventh time stopping at a stop light. downshift 2nd to 1st 39,146 ninth time - next morning on my way to the dealership - up-shift from 4th to 5th 39,164 went to dealership and made an appointment. luckily i am conscious of my surroundings and was able to get out of harms way every time. i will not let my wife drive this car, for her safety, until it is fixed. is there a documented fix for this? *tr
When i was making a gradual right hand turn (curve to the right) at approximately 15 mph, on flat land, i experienced total engine shutdown, electrical shutdown, and loss of power steering in a split second - without warning. after i gathered my composure, i put the car in park, turned the ignition off, then turned the ignition back on and i was on my way without issue since. my 2011 chrysler 200 (4 cylinder) has only experienced this 1 time, but once is definitely enough for me! *tr
While setting the cruise control on this rental vehicle (enterprise car rental), my knee accidentally bumped the ignition which ended up turning the car off. realizing that the car was slowing down, i assumed that the cruise control setting hadn't taken. i tried to give the car gas manually and couldn't get the car to speed up. unable to maintain speed, i attempted to maneuver the car to the shoulder amongst trucks and cars going 65 mph + on the 3 lane interstate highway. the hazards and turn signals were inoperable and the steering locked up. i narrowly escaped collision. i was able to restart the car on the shoulder and continue traveling. *tr
2011 chrysler 200. consumer writes in regards to vehicle engine cutting off while driving. *smd the consumer stated the dealer was unable to find a problem. *jb
Car stalled on the throbs neck expressway while sitting in heavy traffic. when i got the car started again it initially wouldn't move. when i did make off the highway the car shut off on me completely. i barely made ut back to new jersey in the car because the car struggled to accelerate & move all the way home.check engine light is on as well as several other lights on the dash board. i had my entire family in the car that night (2 kids; husband & mother in law). i have been to the dealership 5 times to this issue & its not bern solved yet. this is my second complaint about this car to the nhtsa this time is more urgent because this car stalled in heavy traffic on a major highway this could've ended so badly. *tr
I stopped at a red light, light went green and i let off the brake and car doesn't move. i pushed the gas and it still doesn't move. also the engine makes no noise.. car was still on so i had to put in park and turn car off and restart to get it going. very dangerous and this is the third time its happened. *tr

The chrysler 200 engine will stall when coming to a stop or already stopped. the engine fades slowly away and then completely turns itself off. this entire engine failing process lasts for approximately 7 seconds. this engine failure pose a significant safety risk and something needs to be done chrysler dealership are aware of this issue, but unfortunately don't have an answer for a resolution of it. this issue needs to be looked at much closer and in-depth, since further delays could cause accidents and death. i plead that chrysler takes responsibility for this problem and commence a recall program of the chrysler 200 model. i've personally experienced the engine failing 4 times already. i brought it into the chrysler dealership and have them take a look at it. i had to let the car sit at their shop for 2 days and they did not offer/give a free rental car for me. this car is under 1 year old. prior to chrysler i only owned foreign cars because of the perceived notion that american made cars are not reliable. i decided to give it a chance and wanted to buy american, so i got the chrysler 200. so far that decision has turned out to be a big mistake (unless chrysler offers a resolution to this problem). i don't want to lose faith in the american car company and hope that they do the right thing. *tr
While sitting at a red light during my drive to work, the engine of my chrysler 200 simply shut off, with no warning light or indication associated with it. the car turned on without trouble when attempting to restart it. this is the second incident involving a stall with this vehicle. the first was august 29th, 2012, also at a red light during the drive to work. *tr
Stopped at red light, light turns green, i stepped on the gas & nothing happened. *tr
This is the 2nd time this has happened in 11 months. (not sure of the exact date prior to most recent) was slowing to a stop, and once stopped, the car stalled. both times it happened the check engine light "was not" illuminated. everything on the dash appeared to work normally. lights on, radio on, etc. i happened to feel the car rolling backwards, while stopped, and both times stood on the brakes to prevent the car from rolling back and striking the vehicle stopped behind me. (first time i actually thought i hit the car, but checked and did not see any damage) car restarted ok each time, and proceeded normally. in both instances, i was slowing to a stop (once from coming off the highway and stopping at a traffic light at the top of the exit ramp, and another time slowing to a stop from about 45 mph, on a city street) haven't notified the dealership (yet!) but became aware of this issue when i researched this on the internet. add 1 more chrysler 200 to the "stalling" issue! (canadian vehicle - ontario). *tr
As i approached a traffic light i began to brake. as i came to a complete stop my car's engine cut off and all lights on the dashboard lit up. i struggled to avoid hitting the car in front of me as the car came to a complete stop. i turned the car key on off position and cranked it up. twenty minutes later as i came to another stop the car shut off and began to roll backwards into the car behind me. i was able to stop the car from rolling by heavily applying the brakes. i put the car into park and cranked it and it started but then immediately shut off again. i was able to crank the car a second time and drive off. i immediately took the car to the dealer. *tr
I drove my car for approximately 25 minutes, i stopped at stop light and when pressed the accelerator the car would not go. i put the car in park, then back in drive and the still will not go, then i put the car back in park, turn the car off and then put the gear in drive and then the car would go. this has happened 3 times...i took it to the dealership and they told me they could not find the problem. *tr
In drive, coasting to a stop at a red light, engine down shifted and then once car at a complete stop, engine lost power - other electrical still working but not engine. had to put car in park, then turn ignition key to restart car. engine restarted and rest of trip was ok with no problems. *tr
When at a complete stop or low speed vehicles kicks like it is going to stall. this has happened since the purchase of the vehicle it was taken to the dealership two times in the beginning and the service technicians were not able to find the problem or feel it hesitate. the car was taken twice once in 2012 then 2013 problem could not be found. i have had the car for three years and this problem comes and goes. on 08/31/2015 the car finally stalled out when i was going to enter the highway. the car completely shut off and i was able to turn it back on once it came to a complete stop. at this point the check engine light came on and i was able to drive the car to the dealership. the dealership has indicated it is the crank shaft sensor and a harness that needs replacement. they received several codes when hooked up to the diagnostic machine and were not able to determine what the problem was until two days after it was in the shop. this is a problem that has been going on since i first purchased the vehicle and am quite surprised that there is no recall since we do run the liability of being involved in a car accident by getting hit from behind due to the car hesitating when accelerating after a complete stop.
Driving down the street, the motor shut off. ii had to put it in neutral and restart the motor. it has happened at least 4 times in 12 months. *tt
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while accelerating from a stop. the vehicle performed as normal upon restart. the vehicle was in the process of being taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 15,950.
I was approaching a traffic light and slowing down when the car stalled while i was still moving. once the light changed, i started it up again. it had no difficulty in starting back up. *jb
My car was sitting at a traffic light, fully stopped, with the brake pedal depressed and the transmission in drive. when the light turned green, i hit released the brake and pressed the gas. nothing happened. i looked down and saw that the engine was not running. the tach was at 0. i put the transmission in neutral and started the engine. it started right away and i put the car back in drive. i drove away without further incident. *tt
While at a stop light the engine shut off without warning. we could not get it to restart. but the radio and the windows worked. when we would attempt to restart, the engine light and the electrical light came on. we had to have the towed to the dealer. the dealer could not find anything wrong since there were no codes and they could not recreate the problem.
Our 2011 chrysler 200 has about 8000 miles and has been stalling, surging idle speeds when stopped, and downshifting hard (jolting) for the last 2000 miles or so. tomorrow is the first time taking it in specifically for this reason after having the dealer annotate these symptoms during the last oil change. it is not save to have a car's idle jump while at a stop light or intersection nor is it safe to have a car stall out when slowing down. furthermore, it's a brand new car so this is completely unacceptable to pay for a defective product. if it does not get fixed i will be contacting my insurance company to let them know what is going on as i am fearful that one of these lunges will result in a crash. *tr
First incident occurred when i was traveling on interstate. approximate speed was 65. i began to slow in far right lane for exit ramp. the car immediately died leaving me with no ability to get off high way. no power steering, lights, etc. the car did start again after being put into park and turning ignition. very dangerous as fast moving traffic behind me had to slam on brakes. second incident occurred when sitting at a stop light. all of a sudden the engine revved up and car jerk forward into intersection. my foot was on brake but it still lurched forward. when i took to dealer they said they could find nothing wrong when they ran a diagnostic. *tr

Since purchasing this vehicle on 12/26/2011, the vehicle has stalled, completely turned off 3 different times while stopped at an intersection waiting for a traffic light to change. in all three instances, i had to put the vehicle in park and it restarted. i feel that this is dangerous and seems to be related to nhtsa action number pe12016. i am going to take it to the dealer but before i did, i wanted to see if other owners were having the same problem or if anything had been recalled when i discovered the numerous complaints. *tr

Engine stalls while stopped or at slow speeds with no warning such as when approaching or in an intersection waiting for light to change or traffic to move. this has been a recurring problem that has happened while still moving and when stopped on city streets since i bought the car new in 2011. repeated trips to the dealer resulted in nothing being done because diagnosis showed nothing

When shifting into reverse or drive it has a hard jolt when going into gear. sometimes it is so hard that it jerks your body and head/neck, and it sounds like the transmission is going to unbolt from under the car. it does it a couple times a day, and then may stop for a few days but always comes back. i have noticed on the days it is not doing it i average more mpg, and when it is doing it the mpg continuously decreases when it is occuring multiple days in a row. on the days that it is doing it my transmission sounds more whiny than than usual. i have also had issues when putting it into gear, and pushing the gas pedal it tries to stall. it is a problem, and not "just the way those motors are". if it was "just the way the motor" is then it would do it every time you put it in gear, and not come and go and be much worse on some days than others. as time passes the jolting is getting worse and harder. also, my brakes make an awful squeeking/grinding noise when stopping slowly (stop sign) or backing up. when the car was checked i was told they could not find anything wrong with the car or brakes. this is very agrivating because it was bought brand new, and i am having these issues. i am making payments on a vehicle that is having these types of issues, and i do not feel safe in it. the way the transmissions acts i am afraid of what it may do while driving down the road. *tr
I purchased a 2011 chrysler 200 in july of 2011. i have had multiple incidents where my vehicle has stalled with my foot on the brake sitting at a stop light. i have taken in the vehicle to be serviced 4 times in 1 year for this reason. and i have been told each time it is something different causing the problem. also i have had two incidents where my vehicle would not start. i have had to have it towed twice in one month to the dealership, and both times i have been told it was my fuel pump. and there is one other time i took my vehicle in because it would have a slow crank and this incident i was told it was my battery so they replaced that. also just to mention my vehicle is currently only has 17,280 miles on it. *tr
