I have not been in any form of accident and there has been no damage to my vehicle, yet this morning, i started my car and immediately, the 'service airbag system' warning was displayed and my airbag light was illuminated. the light did not turn off while driving. after turning the car off, waiting, and then on again, the same error warning and light both displayed again.
I had my service air bag light come on and has stayed on and had a coder ran on it at my local chevy dealer . they said there is something in the driver seatbelt triggering it.
It keeps saying service airbags the first time it did this two weeks after purchase we took it back to dealer in sikeston and the replace connector under seat which cost us 800 dollars now for months later light is back on and with this light on the airbags are disabled which is a big safety problem for my family the issue needs be fixed because of safety reasons also a costly repair bill car has only 70 thousand miles what can i do to get this issue resolved with my vehicle it happened it september and now in december both times you start the vehicle it comes on an will not go off without costly repair that should not be charge for safety issues with vehicle
The service airbag light came on out of nowhere

Made an appt. with a chevrolet dealership with a service airbag red light on the dash board on 6/28/2019. appointment was confirmed and once there, i was told to return the vehicle on another day, no appt. available. to my surprise, the dealership advised me to continue to drive my car. i did return on 7/2/2019 diag. $158.80 and to fix an additional $400.00. this is a known problem with the airbag connector. i should know, not long after i purchased my car i went to get service for a seat belt recall and the car was returned with a service airbag light. i was told they could not let me drive the car because it's a liability. i guess because the car is no longer under their warranty, it doesn't matter. the error code was b0014: driver seat side airbag deployment loop resistance above threshold. to my understanding there is an extended warranty under the safety bulletin n192219480 which covers this malfunction up to 12 years or 180,000 miles. if this is true please advise.
Warning light: passenger seatside airbag deployment loop code: b0021 car dealership said they contanced manufactuare and said they would not fix that or where i suspect the car is having transmission problems since it takes longer than it should when i accelerate from where i start driving after a redlight, once i hit 40 mph and then when i hit i think 55mph. both things are safety issues. plus after hail damaged my windshild the guy who replaced it said it wasn't sealed in properly and would have smashed if we got in a wreck. this car seems like a death trap.
On dash said check air bags, just started up and this came up never went off
Message popped up stating service airbag and picture red. no warning beforehand. no prior accident or ejection of airbag.
Takata recall air bag light came on out of no where and wont go off, costs over $100 just to diagnose. needs a recall since the number of complaints
Takata recall aibag warning on my 2014 chevy traverse has been illuminated for about 3 weeks even after disconnecting the battery and trying to reset. there are no open recalls on my vehicle but are lots of complaints on this particular year!
Driving to work out of know where all my lights come on, not shifting right, jerk's back and forward when u hit 200rpm, my breaks are not working right since this happen, there is a sound coming from the rear end of the car, we have owned the suv for a year, every three to for months it goes to the shop for the oil change and routine check
Air bag light has been going off and on for 2 yrs. ive taken it to the dealership multiple times. in fact, i took it 4 times because they said they fixed it, drive off dealer lot and the air bag light goes off again. finally fixed it. 6 months later air bag light comes on again! the air bag light goes off and on all the time. it seems to be a wiring issue or loose fitting but dealer cant seem to fix it permanently. sometimes the light will go on when i start the car first thing in the am while im parked in the garage overnight. sometimes it goes off while driving-doesnt seem to matter if car is in motion or not. ive had to pay to have dealer "fix" it but its not fixed whatever is the issue. i estimate that air bag light has gone on at least a dozen times and most recently last month.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet traverse. the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated while driving. the contact was concerned that the air bag might deploy while driving. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where failure code: b001e (air bag light) was found. the contact called mcgonigal buick gmc ((765) 252-0124, located at 2828 e markland ave, kokomo, in 46901) and scheduled a diagnostic appointment. the manufacturer informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall and did not offer further assistance. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 63,591.
I purchased this vehicle used and within 3 months my airbag service light came on. i told back to the dealer and i was told my extended warranty would not cover the the airbag service. this is a safety issue and should be covered by the manufacture with the massive airbag recall a few years ago. now my car dashboard is getting very dim while driving and then brightens and again the dealership is unable to find the problem and this is also a safety problem, with no recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet traverse. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per an unknown recall regarding the air bags. after the repair, the air bag indicator illuminated several times. the main air bag module was replaced by two different dealers (radley chevrolet, 3670 jefferson davis hwy, fredericksburg, va 22408, (540) 898-4000 and battlefield chevrolet, 10411 james monroe hwy, culpepper, va 22701, (540) 317-1844). both dealers stated that different parts of the air bag were malfunctioning and needed to be repaired at the owner's expense. the contact purchased an extended warranty when she purchased the vehicle, but the air bags were not covered. the contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. the failure mileage was 30,000.
Ac won't come on or just shuts off while driving, sometimes the service airbag warning comes on, sometimes it sets a check engine light code p0119, if the recirculate button is not on then it lights up and ac compressor shuts off, pull over out of traffic and shut the car off and let everything come to a complete stop and restart the car, sometimes every thing clears up but sometimes it takes several restarts to get car to function properly. happens driving on road or stationary. checked battery but seems to be ok, checked fuse box and the entire fuse box is loose, the hold down screws in the fuse box appear to be stripped and will not tighten, shimmed the box to the frame to prevent it from shaking around in the engine compartment. car was purchased from lakeside chevrolet in rockwall, tx as a certified used car, it has been back to the dealer for the service airbag issue but they did not resolve the problem. has been happening every since we purchased the vehicle. keep looking for recalls but nothing yet. there are considerable complaints about this problem or similar problems. the problem with carrying this vehicle back to dealer is that they don't seem to know how to fix it. general motors should recall this vehicle and repair it because it is obviously factory defective.
My [xxx] daughter (permit driver) driving to school for extra community service hours (on a sunday) and the car started to shake and not accelerate, the traction control, check stability control flashing. very dangerous situation for a [xxx] driver. we pulled over and i took the wheel, same thing happened, we barely made it back home. also, airbag light comes on randomly, had this serviced due to recall and the problem has started again. frustrated mom. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *an
Service air bag alert and associated panel light are showing. took vehicle to my mechanic and was informed that the problem is the driver's side lap pretensioner. a search on nhtsa site resulted in recall # 14v266000. problem is my vin does not appear on nhtsa or gm databases as an affected vin. light is persistently on at all times.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet traverse. while driving 45 mph, the contact crashed into the rear passenger quarter panel of a honda accord. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the air bags did not deploy. the contact sustained neck and back injuries, which did not require medical attention. the two occupants of the honda sustained unknown injuries, which required medical attention at the scene. a police report was filed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 62,000. the vin was not available.
I just bought this car on july 17 2018, 4 days later i got the "service air bag" light illuminated on my car's dashboard, i have no clue if this is something serious and need to be fixed immediately or i have to wait so it might go off! not sure what would be the cost if i decide to fix it!
Service air bag flashes intermittently. there are a lot of complaints of this problem all over the internet, but no recall has been issued for my vehicle, even though recalls have been issued for other chevy traverse.
Air bag warning for front passenger seat comes on sometimes, and may go away when a passenger sits, or adjusts the seat, however, it does not always go off when the passenger tries to adjust his position, or the position of the seat. it happens sometimes when in motion, or sitting still, with or without someone in the passenger seat. driveway, city street, highway, expressway, makes no difference. who knows, may be a loose wire, pressure sensor, or something else unknown. dealer wants $105.00 just to check it out. other gm vehicles ever have an air bag problem with passenger seat air bag subject to recall?
My air bag light keeps coming on. i'm thinking this should be a manufacturer warranty? this is a very big issue as it involves the safety of all passengers in the chevy traverse. please look into this immediately!!
Service air bag message displayed and airbag light is on in the car's information center. the message just came on when i started my car in the morning. i've had this car for 10 months and it has been involved in no accidents.
Air bag light intermittently illuminates while stationary and in motion on any type of road. dealer says it is an issue with a seat beat retractor. air bag light on = air bags will not deploy n the event of an accident. the quote was over $500 to fix this issue.
Takata recall my service air bag light comes on and off while i am driving and this has happen for years. when i call the dealerships they tell me its nothing they can do.
My passenger front seat airbag is apparently malfunction as the "service airbags" continues to light up each time someone sits in that seat. i purchased the car in february 2017 from texas auto direct. i googled my vin and it says no open recalls. i did notice numerous complaints about this issue. how can i find out if there has been a recall on this vehicle and if my vehicle was ever serviced for it? *tr
In 8/2017 i took my 2014 chevy traverse with 42k miles to shop for service airbag light that came on. since that time, in the past 10months i have had at dealer 6 times for the same thing. i currently am having the same issue and cannot get chevrolet to call me back to fix airbag issue once and for all. i have left several message and no reply from chevy. this is a safety issue and it is putting my families safety at risk. i am not very happy that it has not been fixed properly in the 6 times it has been at a gm dealer nor the fact chevy does not care and will not call me back. they should have to buy back this car if they cannot fix it correctly.
76,600 miles and the service air bag light is illuminated on my dash . dealer is aware of issue. 2013 traverses were recalled for the same issue but 2014 only received a service bulletin to extend the warranty to 72,000 or 6 years which ever came first. the air bags will not work when the light is on putting my children and i at serious risk if involved in an accident. this problem is due to a wire harness under the seat that needs to be soldered with a specialized by the dealer. the dealership stated the longer the light stays on the less of a chance the airbags will work even after the repair is completed. there are so hundreds of complaints for the same issue from other 2014 traverse owners. i called the estero bay chevrolet yesterday to notify them of the issue and the service manager kevin told me that i would have to pay a $119 diagnosis fee and for the repair to fix the issue. the repair could cost between $300 - $1,200. the dealer should be responsible for fixing this safety issue.this problem is because of their choice to use low quality parts or their manufacturing in the factory and not a normal wear and tear issue. i can not afford to fix this issue and am concerned that there is a chance even after paying for the repairs that my airbags will not work to protect my family if involved in an accident.
Car randomly stalls due to stabalink and traction control in motion on highway almost having me crash into guard rail i couldn't steer the truck
My car only has 40k miles on it and my air bag sensor is illuminated on the dash panel and came on while driving. i was told it is a bad sensor. after reading several reviews on line of other people with low miles having the same issues, i feel this should be a recall, not a pay $1200 out of pocket to have it fixed!
The air bag service light went off on 3/27/17 after getting new tires. also a couple of months ago the car went out of park while my daughter was in the passenger side, i ran out to stop it!
Service air bag warning. traction stabilitrak service and abs light are on cutting engine power to wheels. in motion highway speed.
The airbag service needed light went on. i've only had the vehicle for 2 and a half years. the light is on when i'm driving or when i turn on the car. *tr
My service airbag light came on, and my mechanic also noted that there was an issue with my passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner deployment loop. this car has been in no accidents, and these issues should be recalled, but my dealer says there is no recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet traverse. while stationary, the vehicle slipped out of gear and rolled back into a swamp area. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was not filed and there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed to a mechanic. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 7,800. updated 01/04/17*lj consumer stated while rolling backward, the brakes and steering were unresponsive. could not get it to stop. truck was running the entire time, but unresponsive to driver. updated 7/6/18*jb *tr
While driving normally at a speed of 35mph, a message saying "service air bag" began appearing in the dic and the airbag light began coming on and off on the dash and over the next couple days occurred more often until now it stays on constantly. i have read multiple other complaints stating exactly the same thing or something very similar. this is obviously a manufacturing issue and needs to be a recall. instead, now i get to schedule service and pay for a manufacturers defect out of pocket.
Airbag warning light indicator came on today, 10/25/16. nothing happened to cause the light to come on and the dealership states that the airbag has become inoperable. seems like a lot of issues reported and even a recall on earlier models. wife was about 2 miles from house when indicator came on driving 55-60 down highway. unknown what the issue is at this time but definitely a safety issue for the airbag to become inoperable. has to be a faulty part as no accidents to cause a issue. *tr
The service airbag alert comes on for no reason, then goes off. it came back on again and did not go off. i drive speeds of 30 to 60 mph. my lights on the dash and radio dims and the radio cutoff at any given time. this is very serious problems because the vehicle can cut off while i am driving. i also experience water pouring into to my traverse right over my front over head lamps inside. there was so much water it filled the cup holder and the shift was wet. the front windshield has never been changed and i don't have any cracks on my front window. i have no clue how the water is coming into my traverse from the top and leaking in through the front over head lamps. i have brought it into the dealership, 1 day ago i still have not heard back from anyone. i asked if it was common, with the traverse and i was told no. i obviously they lied, because i had to come on this website to see that other people are experiencing the same problems. i am not a car expert but the man at the dealership that has been doing this line of work for 30+ years said he could smell the water has soon has he sat in the vehicle. so obviously water has been leaking in from some where for a while now to be able to smell the water. i keep my car very clean and my carpets are dry. so the water must be coming in somewhere from the roof and staying reserved in a particular area until it pours out. the water may be the reason i am having the other issues, and may be each problems is not related at all. it is very frustrating because i am paying car note on a car that is am skeptical about driving because i don't know if it safe to drive. i have not only my safety to worry about i also have my children safety consider and other people that ride in this vehicle too. the lights dims while driving or when idling. the service air bag light is on all the time when driving, idling, or in park. *tr
Add my car to the list of 2014 traverses with the service airbag message. this should be a recall.
My air bag sensor or the notification for servicing my air bag has began to go off and on in the last week. it stays on more each day.
The service air bag light will not go off.
Takata.
My service airbag light came on, and then would go off and bag on again. i took it to a dealership and they said that drivers side airbag was bad and i bought my car about 18 months ago brand new. i was 10,000 miles over warranty, so the dealership said that it was not covered and i had to pay for the repair. an airbag issue is not a wear and tear issue! now 3 weeks after having it serviced my service airbag light is on again! i have 3 small kids in my car every day and i am worried to be driving it. i think that gm should take care of this issue!!
The airbag light continues to come on, there is, per the seller no problem and the 36,000 miles and 3 years is past so i have to pay to try to figure out the issue, meanwhile i have no idea if the airbags are even working!
While the vehicle is in operation in any driving condition the airbag service indicator warning light came on and stayed on. this was intermittent at first and then stayed on after a few days. dealer will not cover this key safety component failure. this seems to be related to the last recall for airbag failure on the 2009-2013 traverse model vehicles made this year. the recall fixes the yellow wire harness connector failure by cutting it away and splicing the wires together. there are now technical bulletins out for the 2014 traverses that seem to have the same issue. *js
Dealer has told me that the vehicle registers an error code of b0022. according to the dealer, gm tells them to check four wires on the connectors to the front passenger seat wiring harness that causes the check airbag warning light to illuminate. specifically, gm tells the dealer to solder the connections on the four wires on the connector. the dealer has also told me that if the warning light for the air bag system is illuminated, none of the airbags will deploy. in my opinion this is a serious design flaw. if the airbag warning light is illuminated and you have an accident before the problem is corrected this could result in major injuries. also, a connector termination problem is a manufacturing defect and should be corrected by the dealer, especially in a critical safety system such as the airbag system.
The service air bag just came on
