Problems with 2014 Chevrolet Traverse ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL

On average, the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse starts to “feel” problems with the ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL and its various aspects after 67 405 miles.

Recently reported ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL problems on 2014 Chevrolet Traverse

My 2014 chevy traverse has been having this issue for months now. i will be driving and my service stabilitrak, traction control off, check engine light will light up, and engine power reduced will pop up. i can not go over 20 mph. at times the engine will become very stally, jerky, my steering wheel and brakes will be very hard to use. these are very random and non patterned i will have to safely pull over rather it be on a back road or a highway wherever it happens turn the engine off for 5-20 minutes and it will eventually clear everything but the check engine light; which will clear within that day or the next until the next time it happens. it has also cause my key to lock up in the ignition. this is very unsafe and scary. this is my family car and will eventually cause an accident and hurt myself, my kids, or someone else. if you google the issue there are tons of forums, websites, blogs that have the same issue with this car. i have spent numerous hours investigating the issue, lots of money replacing parts as recommended or by the check engine light and it continues to do this. gm is going to have a lawsuit on their hands when someone gets seriously hurt over this issue because they are not doing anything about it.

2014 traverse will suddenly shut down and not move. flashes service stabilitrac, traction control off, reduced engine power. my vehicle has shut down multiple times including driving on the freeway with my two children in the car. after turning the car off and finally being able to turn it back on again, i am able to get the traction control to say on and to move my car. this last time the steering wheel locked up and my car wouldn't start for almost 10 minutes, with me and my children sitting in the middle of an intersection.

The stabilitrak service warning flashes. when this happens, it reduces the power of the engine causing the vehicle to shut down. this only happens when the car is in motion and now it won't start at all.

My vehicle will first stall and slow down with 'engine power reduced' and something about the traction control and stability track going across the dash right before my vehicle stops on me. this happens frequently at any moment and now i am unable to start it back up. i was told by pep boys that it is an electrical problem, with codes reading a shortage in the fuse box. i checked the web for any recalls and saw that others were having the same issues, yet no recalls. this is dangerous because my vehicle stops at any moment in the middle of a drive, even on the highway. now i am without reliable transportation in my 2014 traverse. i love my vehicle, but gm needs to fix this issue.

Driving the kids to school and the vehicle just cut off on the interstate and the traction control turned off. i was able to catch the exit and make it to the side. it would not start. it finally started and i was able to go two miles where it cut off again, holding up morning school and work traffic on the two lane road. there was no shoulder to pull off to. i just read where there was an issue with a short in the electrical system that causes the car to just shut off. i put my vin number in the recall database to see what to do and it tells me my car is not on the recall list. this is dangerous and i fear for my family knowing these types of issues exist.

1st time vehicle on highway. lost engine power .. .engine light and stability light came on. cycled through error codes reduced engine power, service stability track, traction control off. code p16820. 2nd time it happened at a stop light. car will not go more than 10 miles an hour. engine runs choppy like it's going to stall. after car was shut off overnight, it reset and ran normal except engine light stays on. dealer can't find any issue. can't recreate. see on youtube that this has happened to many others. there should be a recall!!! dangerous especially for a family car. people buy traverse's when they have children!!!! please recall!!!

While driving at 45mph the vehicle completely shut off, the gauge cluster went crazy stating "stabilytrack" "reduced engine power" check engine came on and notices temp.guage also went up from 210 to 215 slighty when i put in park and restarted vehicle restarted with no problem i drove to mechanic shop with no issue 4 miles away and when i arrived to shop i turned vehicle off and when mechanic returned to check engine error none was found or recorded this is the secon time it happens?

I was driving along the highway and the car beeped and went into low engine power and died. i was able to steer to the side of the road, but had no power. this has happened 10 times. the first few times i was able to turn the car off and then back on again and it was fine. 3 times ago, the car died and wouldn't not turn over. a wrecker was called. we have had this vehicle in the shop 8 times in 2019 for this issue.

Engine power comes up low power and i just brought a new battery which i know that not it. the car will throttle and then i can only go up to 20 miles per an hour and it's hard to steer. i will have to stop the car for twenty minutes and it will start back up with the engine light on. this is very dangerous to take on the highway or even drive especially i have kids in my car. what can i do???

A life and safety issue! with no warning the vehicle will suddenly shut off. it does not matter if you're moving on the freeway or parked, it is very intermittent and only happened three times in the last 6 to 8 weeks. two different mechanics said error it's code p1682 is the fault but it will not duplicate the symptoms. i contacted chevy corporate and they knowledge other vehicles this year have a recall but claim mice vin number is not affected and will do nothing. hey fuel vehicle is in safe and do not want my family in it until i am certain it will not suddenly shut off while they are in motion.

It has been probably 10 times or so that my vehicle has had the stability track engine reduce power come on. i am usually driving on the freeway and then out of the blue this happens. i have to try and get over to the shoulder so that i do not get ran over as i have no power to keep going. i can usually turn off the engine and then it will start back up but the check engine light stays on. i have done some research and 2014 traverse were under recall # 14v614000. called gm and they told me that mine was not under this recall. the recall should pertain to all 2024 traverses as the recall states it is 2014 models that are having this issue. i am still paying for a vehicle that we cannot even drive. someone needs to step up and do something about this, before some is hurt.

It's happened more times than i can count. definitely over 10. i'm driving my traverse, on the highway or in town, and then my car goes crazy. bells begin to ding and dash lights come on. the info center tells me to service stabiltrack and then i get a reduced engine power warning and i cannot go over 25 mph. i pull off the road or off the side of the highway, turn on my hazard lights and shut off my car. after a few minutes i turn my car back on and everything seems fine but the engine light stays on. it's done this with every driver in my family. i'm absolutely heartbroken. my family has been loyal gmac customers since before i was born and i was proud to keep up the tradition but this car has made me look at other car manufacturers. my 2004 gmc envoy is more reliable than this car. this is our family vehicle and we are considering renting a car for a 800 mile trip i need to take next week for a funeral. after doing research i have discovered that gm is and has been aware of this problem for quite awhile and has done nothing to fix it. numerous people have thrown good money down the drain to try to fix it with no success. it's time for gm to do something about this or they are endanger of losing plenty of loyal customers and future customers. shame on you gm for putting money in your pockets over the safety and satisfaction of thousands of customers.

On a busy interstate, vehicle lost power and service stabili trak indicator came on. third time this has hapoened. was able to creep to shoulder at 20 mph. shut engine off and power and acceleration came back up with check engine light on. is this a known safety issue with an active recall? vehicle has 89,500 miles and is out of warranty

I was entering the on-ramp going east and my vehicle completely stopped. i was going around 25-30 mph and i had my kids in the car. my computer forced my brakes and i was unable to drive the vehicle. my suv literally made a full stop while driving at 25-30 mph with my kids in the car and no brake lights ignited. the check engine light and the traction control light came on. they eventually turned off. this happened one other time. i was driving on a residental street and the vehicle stopped again. my husband whom was driving the car said the car just stopped in the middle of the intersection. he tried pressing the traction control button because the check engine light and the traction control light came on and the brakes were forced again and nothing. imagine going 25mph and stopping abruptly without brake lights for other cars to see. this time i did research and i saw that other 2014 chevy traverses were recalled for the chassis module (recall number 14v614000). i saw youtube videos and i checked several consumer the complaint websites and i literally saw over 10 other complaints about the same issue this month! i also put a reader in my vehicle and the two codes that come up is p16aa & p1682. one is for the electronic module system in which the chassis (pertaining to the recall) is listed under). i called the dealer and they said that the recall was active for 2014 chevy traverses..... but not mine! i am completely disgusted. these vehicles will kill you - literally and they know it, and they refuse to do anything about it! now i'm paying a car note and i can't even drive it - for the safety of my family, others, and myself. shame on them - again this is happening to other people! this is a urgent request for help!

While exiting the freeway 6/1/2019, on the off ramp luckily, my 2014 chevy traverse's lights start coming on: service stabilitrak, traction control off, service traction control, power engine reduced and the car slows down and starts jerking. i get stopped at the end of the ramp and can't get the vehicle to start moving again. turned on my hazards and shut off the vehicle and turned it on and off several times. finally, all the lights go off and my vehicle started moving normally again but the check engine light was on and stayed on. after several hours the check engine light went off. taking into my mechanic to see what the problem could be but it looks like this is common on the 2014 and may not have a solution. this is really frustrating especially after only having this vehicle for 8 1/2 months! should have some kind of recall out there.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet traverse. while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly jerked and stalled. the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and pulled over to the side of the road. when the vehicle was restarted, the contact heard a revving sound coming from the vehicle and it began to shake. the contact stated that the engine power reduced and traction control warning indicators illuminated. after pulling over to the side of the road, the contact turned the vehicle back off and waited a few minutes before they were able to turn the vehicle back on with no warning indicators illuminated. the failure occurred a total of four times. during the fourth failure, the service stabilitrak indicator illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, but they could not diagnose the vehicle. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the manufacturer provided a case number. the approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

Driving and car is very slow to accelerate. stabillink warning and abs lightly are on. take it to the dealer and they tell me it's the accelerator pedal sensor, so i have it replaced, along with a cleaning of my throttle body. car is continuing to slowly accelorate, making it dangerous to drive and i am a single mom with 4 kids ages 11 and under, it's so frustrating. this seems to be an ongoing issue with these cars and gm is doing nothing to recall them, someone is going to get killed driving on the expressway is the most dangerous, as the vehicle takes so much time to accelerate up to a normal speed.

Six times now , i have been driving and the stabilitrack alert goes off and then it cuts down my engine power and i couldn't go over 20-25 mph. two of these times i was on a major highway with my three children . all other incidents happened while driving down city streets. i pulled over, turned off the vehicle for a few minutes , restarted it and the engine light comes and stays on. my husband looked it up online after the first incident and saw that it could be the throttle body sensor and replaced it. obviously that didn't help because it happened again so we took it to get diagnosed when the engine light was still on and it said that the ignition switch needed replacing. my husband replaced that about 3 weeks ago . two days ago , i started my car and it sputtered and died . i turned it back on after a couple of minutes and my check engine light was on so we took it back in to get diagnosed . threw the same code saying the ignition switch needed replacing. all of this has happened within the past 10 months. i can not afford to keep throwing on random parts that aren't fixing the issue nor should i have to . this is obviously a well known issue with this make and model and needs to be resolved before someone seriously gets hurt. i cannot even drive the 20 minutes to my job without worrying whether or not i'm going to get there safely and without having to pull off the highway because my vehicle loses power . i was very excited to purchase a traverse as i had wanted one for quite some time but now i'm very frustrated and angry about it. i'm even more frustrated with gm and their lack of response to the severity of this problem.

I was driving on the highway when the car started losing power! as i hit the gas petal it would putt putt as if it wasn't getting any gas. i lost complete power at red light, had to turn the switch all the way down then back up then the car slowly winded up as if it didn't want to start so i had to give it a little gas then it cranked up on the dash board you can see the rpm going up and down as if it wanting to shut off!

Out of the blue, while driving my 2014 chevy traverse, it started acting sluggish, "traction control light came on, "service stabilitrack error came up on dash, cruise control wouldn't work. i was on a freeway and scared to death. it wouldn't speed up and kept jerking to not go faster. onstar registered that it was a problem with traction control. if many are having this issue with this suv, why hasn't there been a recall? this was very dangerous. i didn't know if it would make it home.

My car keeps dying for no reason. it has a reading of low engine lower and traction control system needing service. they car just shuts off in the middle of the road. my vehicle went from 70 to 30 mph on the highway.

Driving on a main rd only going about 40mph and the cars start beeping and stability traction light comes on and engine power source reduced pops up. the car starts jerking and shaking like it was going to shut off out of no where

Fuse box-! with no warning, a system was triggered to drop engine power dramatically plunging from 65 to below 20. this happened to me 2 times on a major highway surrounded by trucks endangering my family as i could not climb above 20mph and had to scramble to get over and not be a hazard. while the dealer initially couldn't find the problem- chevy mechanics told them to check for a specific tripped fuse- that ruins the whole box. the problem is so prevalent- the part is indefinitely on back order. this is a potentially deadly situation.

I recently had my 2014 chevy traverse in to my mechanic for maintenance, as i do when needed. after maintenance was performed, i picked my vehicle up and it drove just fine for five maybe ten miles, no issues. i was on the highway and suddenly the "service stabilitrak", "traction control off", and "service traction control" messages began flashing. immediately after, my vehicle began jerking profusely as i was driving - it slowed the speed, and eventually quit. the messages were still there. a few more miles down the road, it began jerking again. i don't know what is going on with it but i took it back to my mechanic and he's had it since then (this was days ago) and he's having a hard time pinpointing the issue. however, i see many other traverse owners whom are experiencing the same dangerous issue, with no resolve. my vehicle has up to this point been reliable and i thought safe, however, this issue is not safe. i have a job that i need to get back and forth from and two small children that i need to transport safely. this issue with my traverse is beyond dangerous. my traverse has 85,000 miles on it. really disappointed.

This past friday, i was traveling in the highway at 60mph then the car starts beeping, with immediate loss of power within seconds, down to 20mph. error messages start flashing, the car starts shaking. almost got hit by the person behind me as i wasn't braking, so they, nor myself, had no indication my car was about come down to a crawl. i pulled over, turned off the car, gave it a minute, restarted, and the car was back to normal and i was able to get home. the engine light remained, but it went away before i could get it to the dealer (within 3 miles), dealer is around 8 miles away. this is the 4th incident with this similar issue. once we were waiting on a turning lane, the car started beeping, shaking, displaying errors on the dashboard, loss of power again to a crawl. we pulled over to the first parking lot in the intersection. turned of the car, restarted and it was fine again. then again right after putting gas. got into the car to leave the gas station, car was beeping, shaking, displaying error messages on the dash. turned it off, restarted and it was fine. another time, i was approaching a light to make a right turn, the engine stalled right before i was to turn. i had to put it on part to restart the car, once it started, it ran fine. i'm afraid to drive the car in the highway. i have a 45 minute commute to work everyday. i always have to keep to the right lane in case the car acts up. the error messages that display are "service stability tract, engine power reduced, tracking control turned off" and maybe one other one. i've seen the message boards and it's happening to many owners and for several years! it is dangerous to drive like this. this should have been addressed years ago.

C0242,p1682. while driving the stability control turns off reduced engine power and the vehicle turns off leaving you no way to stream the vehicle . this happens at all speeds and in park. this happens everyone the vehicle is driven.

While driving the car, it happens to loose power and it is very difficult to wheel and move the car . it stops in the middle of the freeway and service traction control comes up , then service stabilitytrak and then traction control off . it has to be turned off and then wait and restart it again , with a check engine

While driving, car slows to 25mph and dash flashes between the following warnings: service stabilitrak, traction control off, service traction control, power engine reduced. the check engine light and traction control light also turn on at this time . this has happened 5 times so far. i have been driving on the highway and on side streets when this happens. this is very dangerous and could cause an accident easily.

Driving to work out of know where all my lights come on, not shifting right, jerk's back and forward when u hit 200rpm, my breaks are not working right since this happen, there is a sound coming from the rear end of the car, we have owned the suv for a year, every three to for months it goes to the shop for the oil change and routine check

On december 21st coming home from work merging on to the expressway sibility traction control comes across my dashboard then reduced power comes on vehicle start losing power almost caused a serious accident trying to merge on to the expressway i have never witnessed or experience a vehicle do that this is something that needs a serious recall on before for some one dies if it ain't already happen. december 22nd 2018 stop at a four way and the stability traction control comes across the dashboard again but this time the vehicle shuts all the way off i restarted it and it read reduced power its stability traction control across the dashboard and i could not pick up any power just like last time plus i purchase the vehicle on december 1st 2018 once again this is a serious issue it doesn't happen six times already but it started having those problems on december 2nd but on december 21st my life was on the line.

The car has started to do a shimmy and then the car completely turns off and won't start again. there is always gas in the car, and the oil is changed regularly. the car has been taken to a local repair shop to address the issue. i was told that there is a small electrical connection box under the gas tank that was filled with dirt and getting poor contact. the small box was cleaned out and electric conductive gel was used. the car didn't have a problem for about 9 days and then it started to do the same thing as before. it has turned off mostly when the vehicle is moving. the latest time this happened was 11/6/2018

My [xxx] daughter (permit driver) driving to school for extra community service hours (on a sunday) and the car started to shake and not accelerate, the traction control, check stability control flashing. very dangerous situation for a [xxx] driver. we pulled over and i took the wheel, same thing happened, we barely made it back home. also, airbag light comes on randomly, had this serviced due to recall and the problem has started again. frustrated mom. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *an

My wife has a 2014 chevy traverse with 60,000. the traction control and stabilitrack warnings came on the dashboard. this happened 3 times in four weeks. once the power was reduced and the car would not accelerate. we were on a city street with light traffic and once the car stopped completely. thank god she was in a parking lot when it happened. i have taken it to the dealer each time we get the messages. the said that they could not find anything wrong and come back if it happens again. the changed a fuse on the last visit. it has happened again and it is in the shop right now.

I was driving on the interstate at around 70mph and my traverse started shaking like there was trash in my fuel pump. then i get a message that my traction control isn't working. then my traverse loses speed (and we almost get hit) and the vehicle will only go 20mph. i made it off the interstate and the dash read stabilitrak, service traction control, engine power reduced. it is now at the local chevy dealership as it is under a carmax extended warranty. when the tow truck came he could not even get it to crank and he thought it was out of gas (no. 100 miles to e) the vehicle has approximately 64000 miles on it and has been regularly serviced. i am thankful my children and i were not killed when we lost power. this is an extremely dangerous problem and unacceptable.

While driving at pretty much any speed at random, the car starts shaking and the service traction control and service stabilitrak lights start flashing. sometimes it goes away right away, other times the car needs to be turned off and will go away after a few minutes. vehicle has been in the shop multiple times for the same issue and the dealer states they cannot recreate the problem.

Service stabilitrak and traction control off light comes on when driving and car speed decreases and the car jerks. i have taken it to get fixed several times and shortly after each time the same thing happens again. been happening since aug 2018

Was driving on highway all of a sudden car starts shaking and slows down push on gas can barely go over 35 service light come on for stability trax service stability trak get to a safe place of the highway and turns car off turn car back on still says stability trax engine almost seems like it will cut off pressing on gas with full tank and car barely moving car slowed down dramatically when it first happen could have caused an accident went home read to turn car off wait a while and see if lservice light would come on went away took to a mechanic even though it doesn't say fix the service stability trax had a friend run codes by doing an diagnostic test came up thru diagnostic test to take to dealer and have them fix it. but doesn't flash anymore about stability trac right window will not roll up passenger window.

Driving on freeway, warning lights came on with error 'service traction control' and 'engine power reduced'. emergency flashers would not come on. barely able to limp to the side of the freeway with cars honking and swerving around vehicle. traverse has 40,000 miles on it. has had same issue except this time while parked. turn truck off and restarts fine. both incidents within a month of buying vehicle used. took vehicle to carmax, oxnard, ca, 93036 where we have extended warranty. they were not able to replicate the issue and returned vehicle. this was after the first time it happened. in carmax 8/9/2018.

2014 chevy traverse engine, traction control, stabilitrak: vehicle dash says "reduced engine power" and shuts the engine off while i'm still driving and in traffic. this occurred while i was crossing a busy side street, on 2 state roads, and other places. after turning off the engine for 30 seconds or so, i can restart it the vehicle and continue until it occurs again. i've taken it to the dealership twice. the pcm was replaced the first time after 3 days of keeping the vehicle. the second time, it was kept over a week and the pcm was replaced again. the same issue occured within 24 hours and has repeated several times.

The vehicle will all of a sudden go into low engine power mode, traction stability turns on and it limps - dealership states they can not recreate issue so can not fix. several times to dealership each time they can not fix and it is running fine. all of the internet same problem with same vehicle. this is a huge safety issues as it has occured on the highway and an intersection before. it is very dangerous. the vehilce is not operatable during the eposide. you stop the vehile let it sit for a brief minute and it will start up and drive normal. when it happen this morning on the freeway it was very dangerous as it cause a stopage on the freeway in rush hour traffic and limping to the side at 5mph is scarry crossing lanes. this is a know issue and the company is not doing anything about it. please help!!!!!!

Vehicle stopped working as i was driving reduced power speed service stability track trash control service that's what popped up

Highway speed, hit moderate pothole and received multiple error messages in the display "engine power reduced" "service stabilitrak" "service traction control". engine barely running/running rough. brakes have no power assist. vehicle struggling to maintain 20mph and hard to get off the freeway. appeared to be complete ecu malfunction. had to abandon car in a public parking lot and have someone pick us up. vehicle was towed to local dealership and yet they can find no fault codes, thus releasing the car with no work performed. this phenomenon has been documented on youtube here: [xxx] note: this is not my video, but is the exact scenario i encountered. similar video documented here: [xxx] many other instances documented on the internet in various vehicle forums and across other gm platforms. this is an unsafe condition that should be a better investigated issue by chevrolet. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *an

Recall (14007) repair was supposedly done may 2014 at jeff gordon chevrolet in wilmington, nc. car was put in the shop october 2017 at same place for same problem that prompted a recall, inaccurate fuel gauge reading. extended warranty covered repair this time. instrument cluster was replaced and problem fixed, according to jeff gordon chevrolet. june 27, 2018 - we ran completely out of gas even though fuel gauge showed a quarter of tank remained. car shut off. thankfully we were not in motion. we were sitting in a customer's driveway. jeff gordon chevrolet will not cover repair, we have been told we are financially responsible. how can an obvious issue that was part of a recall not continue to be covered?

I was going through a drive-thru, and left the parking lot. when i stopped at a stop sign i heard a chime, and a ' traction control off, service traction control, and service stabilitrak' lights came across the screen on the dashboard as well as the traction control light. so i drove back toward my job, and about 3 miles down the road, my car started to shake and the rpms started to go up!, so i started to drive to the dealership i bought it from 3 months ago, and they didn't have any appointments for today, so i left and made an appointment for tomorrow. as i was driving back to work, the car started to shake and decline in speed, this lasted about 2 minuets and then went back to normal, i parked my car at work, and went back in for 4 hours. when i came back out, all the lights were off, and it drove fine home. hoping that the dealership can fix it, i don't feel safe driving my children in this vehicle any longer! i could have been in a wreck today! i have read this is a common problem with the traverse! i have also read that it has yet to be fixed, i have two young children, i bought this car for safety for them, and now it could hurt them! this is not the first time this has happened, this is the longest it has lasted. it has happened about 3-5 other times, just a short 5-10 seconds and then back to normal!
