While driving on snow covered roads on 2/21/2015, a notification came on the instrument panel "service stabilitrack", "engine power reduced". the car would not go above 40mph. i turned the car off and started it again, as instructed in the owner's manual. the same thing happened. the next day it was fine. it did not happen again until tonight (3/3/2015). again, on snowy roads on the way home from work, the same warning came on and the engine power was reduced. in researching this, it is apparently a common complaint. *tr
Driving on the highway in nh in traffic when stabilitrac/reduced power/traction control light came on and car slowed down to 15 mph on a busy highway. barely made it off the next exit as car wouldn't go over 10 mph. luckily the cars behind me did not slam into me as it was a dangerous situation. a recall is needed is it is a serious safety issue. *tr
I was traveling to work this morning (2/18/15) on a missouri state highway and suddenly power was reduced dramatically on my 2011 chevrolet traverse. i immediately looked at my dic and noticed the following readings listed: "service stable track", "engine power reduced", "traction control off", "service traction control". also, my check engine light came on as well. i was able to pull over to the shoulder of the highway but my maximum speed was only 15 mph. i stopped on the shoulder of the highway and put the vehicle in park and then put back in drive. i went back in to traffic but my maximum speed was only 40 mph. after arriving at my office, i noticed the engine appeared to not being running properly, as if it wasn't getting the right fuel/oxygen mixture. i called the gm dealership to inform them of the problems and took the vehicle to them for testing. they diagnosed the problem as needing to replace the throttle body and the part would not be in until tomorrow. i will be picking the vehicle up tomorrow after the repair and i hope this doesn't happen again because if my wife or son had been driving the vehicle, it may have resulted in an accident on the highway. this is something that should never happen in a vehicle, the chance of an accident on a busy interstate or highway is very likely when your speed in reduced dramatically. *tr
I purchased this 2011 chevy traverse in feb. of 2015, so i believed it to be a fairly new car in good shape. not even a month later the gas hand becomes faulty and is not showing the correct amount of gas, and starts fluctuating. next i'm riding on the freeway and the truck immediately starts slowing down and reads loss of engine power and shuts off right in the middle of the freeway. now i am freaking out with me and my kids in the car and others flying around me doing 75 to 80 mph to my decreasing speed. i was scared for my life and my children's lives as cars and trucks are speeding around and honking at me. the truck dies and i barely manage to get to the side so that i would not be hit. i then get the car towed to the local dealership who then says that the truck needs a water pump which turns out to be under my extended warranty. they also reset my fuel sensor because they say they tested it and it was still good. so it only cost me $100.00. i pick my truck up and it works fine for less than a month and starts up again. i run out of gas on a busy street and get another tow. back to the chevrolet house it goes. this time they reset the check engine light and says its still not the fuel pump, sensor, or anything because they cannot find anything at all. i go pick it up once again and on my way home ran out of gas, while the gas level is reading right at half a tank. i know there was gas in the tank when i ran out and when the truck was towed. the dealership kept my vehicle for a whole week and all they did was got the truck on level ground, obviously, and the truck ran all the gas out while parked and they were 'trying to find the problem'. so now the gas hand is not working at all and i'm always putting gas in it and taking a chance because nobody knows whats wrong. this vehicle has been nothing but a headache and this problem needs recalling before one dies.
Vehicle had error messages, service traction control, traction control is off, service stabilitrax, engine power is reduced. vehicle was slow to accelerate and experienced decreased speed. vehicle vibrating while idling. was told by dealer not to continue to drive the vehicle because others with same error messages stalled out while driving the vehicle, could not get the car restarted and had to be towed. the sudden slow acceleration and decreased speed are safety issues which need to be addressed by gmc before someone gets killed or seriously injured. dealership said codes were p2176, p0121 and p0221 all related to tps sensor. replaced throttle body, total cost $607.42. not covered under power train warranty or extended warranty. according to a blog, in approximately 2009 gmc stopped covering the throttle body under the power train warranty even though vehicles manufactured after 2009 continue to have the same issues. additionally, blogs indicate that even when the problem gets fixed by the dealer (at the owner's expense), the same issue tends to arise again. this issue needs to be addressed with a recall by gmc as soon as possible with the owner's duly compensated for any costs they may have incurred. *tr
I was driving at approximately 65 mph on a highway when the tcs turned off by itself a message indicator came on stating reduced power tcs off service stabilitrak. i took it to a jack williams since they were the only ones open on at the time. they inspected the car and determined i had a bad battery and replaced it. the tcs started working again and worked until 2/16/15 when again traveling on a highway at 65mph the tcs turned off by itself. i got off the highway shut off the car. a few minutes later i restarted and drove home on a back road. 5 miles from my house the tcs again turned off again. a minute later the engine light came on. i took it to a chevy dealership at motorworld. they determined that the throttle body was blocked. my choices were to flush the system which they would not guarantee the would fix the problem as they do not take the throttle body itself apart to see if it is serviceable or to replace the throttle body and flush the system. the dealership stated that flushing the system is part of the preventative maintenance and should be done every 40,000 miles. upon looking in my owners manual i found no requirement that this is a preventative maintenance item. if it was the manufacturer should have listed it in the manual. i researched forums and found that i was not the only person with this issue. this was a severe safety issue as you lose power and drop speed quickly which could have caused an accident. below is the link to the forum on edmunds.com. if chevy took safety seriously they should have a direct compliant section on their website to complain to so that all cars problems are tracked. http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/14979/chevrolet/traverse/chevy-traverse-stabilitrak-traction-control-problems/p6?. *tr
On 2/3/15 driving 60mph on the 1-87 my steering wheel began to vibrate on and off. then drove about 5 miles further then my stabilitrack and traction control failed with its indication on the dash board then the vehicle skid symbol lit up and the dashboard stated engine loss of power and the vehicle slowing began to decelerate to about 40mph and i had to pull over on the shoulder and had my vehicle towed to chevy dealer. i was told it was my throttle body. which i see seems a big problem for a lot of 2011 traverse owners. the repair will cost me nearly $700 after i replaced a burned out wireharness for $658 just 2 weeks ago!!!! *tr
I was driving and the traction indicator light appeared. a warning showing loss of engine power was displayed and the car slowed to about 15 mph. i had to pull over. i turned the traverse off, and restarted it. i was able to drive home. the next day, the same thing happened. after restarting the car, i was able to get home. from what i've been reading, this is a very common occurrence for this vehicle. it should be recalled and fixed. *js
When i pulled out of a driveway and began to drive down the street, my traverse message board read, traction control off, engine power reduced, service stablitrac. i was unable to accelerate past 40 mph. my car was unsteady and shaky. i called gm and they stated that i have recalls issued on the car but none of them have anything to do with my current issue. it seems this is a common problem that gm is not addressing concerning a faulty throttle body. i am very frighten to drive especially of highway and with my children in the car. i bought this vehicle because i believed it would be safe for my family. *tr
Daughter was driving, with kids in car. 6:45 pm 1/25/2015. traction control warning light came on and acceleration dropped instantly. she pulled over and turned off vehicle. restarted and still could not get past 45 mph. pulled over again and turned off for five minutes. when pulled back onto highway was able to proceed normally, edmunds forum and chevytraverse forums stated this has happened repeatedly.
Stabilitrak warning light engine losing power down to 20 mph.went online this is an on going problem with many gm cars and should be fixed at the cost of the manufacturer. *tr
While driving, the vehicle suddenly showed alerts reading traction control off, service traction control, service stabilitrak, and engine power reduced. at this time the vehicle immediately slowed down to 20mph. thankfully my toddlers were not in the car and i did not have traffic behind me so that i could safely pull over to the shoulder. i turned off the vehicle for a few minutes and restarted again, at which time the same errors returned with the exception of engine power reduced, so that i could at least make it home. i immediately called my chevy dealer who completes all service on my vehicle, and i was told that this is a common problem, especially in the cold temperatures as oil tends to accumulate in the throttle body and freeze up, making the sensor go haywire, leaving the throttle unable to compensate for the changes, and the warnings to occur. i was told it would not be covered under the powertrain warranty and that there was no recall. i was also told that it wasn't a big deal and it should be fine when it warms up. i guess we differ in our opinion of whether a car shutting down in the middle of the highway or with my children in the car is a big deal. i guess we also differ in our opinions about whether a $40k vehicle should function in freezing temperatures that occur for four months of the year in the northeast. chevrolet has issued recalls for this very issue with many other vehicles and some years of traverses but not all. chevrolet, you need to stand behind your vehicles...take responsibility for the $100 part that can very easily be fixed in 15 minutes time instead of forcing customers to drive an unsafe vehicle or shell out upwards of $600 to make the repair. i love this car, probably my favorite vehicle i have ever owned, but this is a major problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet traverse. the contact stated while driving 60 mph, the electronic stability control, traction control and the engine power reduced warning lights illuminated on the instrumental panel. the vehicle independently reduced power. the contact merged to the side of the road where the vehicle was turn off and restarted however, the warning indicator remained illuminated. the dealer was made contacted. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the failure mileage was 82,000.
I was driving along at 60 mph when my traction control light turned off, followed by "service stabilitrack", followed by "reduced engine power" and my vehicle went from 60 mph immediately down to 15 mph. if i were in heavy traffic or had any vehicles following me, this would have caused a major accident and potentially serious injuries, to me, my (xxx) year old son and whoever was behind me!!! *trparts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
On six separate occasions in 7 days, my vehicle has displayed the following messages, traction control off, check stabilitrak, and reduced engine power then suddenly reduces speed significantly unwilling to accelerate. i have to pull over, turn off the car and wait several minutes before i can turn the car back on for it to drive correctly. this is extremely dangerous and i know it is a recurring issue for many gm 2010-2012 vehicles and no recall or solution has been made yet. *tr
I was driving along at 65 mph when the "stabiltrak off" light came on followed by the "traction control" light and the "engine power reduced" light. my traverse slowed down to 15 mph on a busy interstate. i was very lucky to be able to get over to the side of the road. after reading the owners manual i shut the car off for about a minute, re-started it and everything seemed fine. the next day it started doing it again and now shutting it down and restarting it may or may not fix it. taking it to the shop today but see alot of people having the same problem and it seems to re-occur frequently. definitely seems like a recall item as it can create a very dangerous situation when the power is automatically reduced. especially on a busy highway. *tr
Driving on the road and all of a sudden the dashboard lights up. the car tells me that the "stabilitrack needs to be serviced" and "reducing speed". the car just slows down and i can't go above 15 mph in the middle of the road with cars all around me driving at the same speed. thank god i was able to pull over to the right and get off the road. i shut car off and waited a few minutes. i turned car on and the system reset itself and car was fine. now its doing it again as my wife drove it today. researching online, i see many people are having this same problem. gm needs to recall these vehicles and fix this problem. someone is going to get killed in an accident! *tr
While traveling on the hwy at 65 mph i got a message on the dash that read "service traction control" then "service stabilitrack" then "engine power reduced" all simultaneously. then i lost power and went drastically from 65 mph down to about 40 mph. i almost got ran over by a semi truck!! i pulled vehicle to the side and slowly made my way to the nearest exit. once i got off the hwy i tried to make my way back home, but the power was reduced to a crawl, so i pulled into a parking lot and ended up having to get it towed to the shop. they diagnosed the car and found no mechanical issues, only what seemed to be a "glitch" in the computer system. suggested that i may need to replace the throttle body. i picked up my car and it drove fine for 5 days then it did the same thing again, luckily i was in my neighborhood. drove it home and parked it. the next morning it drove just fine, no issues, and today it happened again. i have spent the last few hours reading hundreds of other complaints describing the exact same scenario, and found that they are taking their vehicle into the dealer and getting parts replaced only to have it happen again and then more parts replaced and it continues in this cycle... this from only one forum and there are a number of others a like! *tr
I was driving on the highway in the fast lane and all of a sudden an error message started flashing. it stated that i needed to have my stability track serviced. about 2 seconds later it say that power would be reduced to my engine and then my vehicle slowed down immediately from about 65 mph to about 15 mph. i had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get to the shoulder. i was horrified and prayed and thanked god that we were not killed. i had my daughter in the vehicle with me. we had to wait on the highway for a tow truck to tow us through the fort mchenry tunnel to safety. this apparently is a problem with this vehicle. why haven't a recall been issued. someone is going to die if this problem isn't fixed. *tr
Driving at 65 miles per hour , the truck feels like it is losing power , the more gas i give it does not matter. the console say the stability control is off. i pulled off to the side of the road turned the car off and restarted it. it went for about 3 miles and came back on again . in researching this seems to be a defect as this does not appear to be uncommon. this is extremely dangerous. i am glad i was driving and not my (xxx) year old daughter. the dealer wants $600 to fix a throttle cable. *tr parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Use remote starter. after a few minutes of warming up unlocked and entered vehicle. once key turned to on doors started to lock and unlock. put car in reverse barely moved. tried drive and would not move? check engine light, stability track lights are on. not good when you need to get to work. *js
As i was driving, i received three messages on my vehicle: service traction control, service stabilitrak and engine running at reduced power. took the car to my local mechanic and they flushed out something (i don't remember what exactly). it ran fine for a few weeks then as i was on the freeway the same messages appeared and as i was trying to accelerate up a slight incline, the car's speed was decreasing even though i was pushing on the gas. luckily i was in the right lane and there was light traffic or there could have been a major accident as i could not increase speed. took the car to the dealership who says i need the throttle body replaced and it will cost $600. after looking at this site, i see there are many, many complaints for the same issue. this should definitely be a safety recall! *tr
I was driving down the interstate at 65 mph and all of a sudden the cars dings and starts flashing service stabilitrak, engine power is reduced, traction control off, and service traction control. it was dangerous because the car dropped from 65 mph to 20 mph with no warning! it was instant!!! i pushed the on-star button (after pulling off the road an collecting myself because i was almost rear-ended) and asked them to run diagnostics. they told me the car was safe to drive. i needed to turn it off for a couple of minutes and it would reset it's self. so i did and it did! they told me to take it to the dealership within 4 days. i did that! the dealership said they couldn't do anything because the lights were gone! they stated it was probably a glitch. so i went on my way after a few choice words (this was dangerous!!!!!) it has happened 8 more times since then! now today it happened again and the check engine light stayed on! i will take the car in first thing tomorrow morning. i just cannot believe there has been so many issues and nothing is being done about it! *tr
While driving 2011 traverse the service traction control warning light came on. the service the stabilitrak light came on. while continuing to drive the car completely lost engine power. i was not able to accelerate. had to pull over to the side of the road and wait 2-3 minutes. restarted the car. drove a few more miles down the road and happened again. no power at all in the engine. could not accelerate. pulled over to the side of the road and restarted. was able to get to the dealer. was told it was a throttle body control system that had to be replaced. while researching online appears to be a known problem at gm dating back to their 2004 models. no recalls have been issued but the problems continue. *tr
I was driving home from work one evening. i just came off of the highway, then there was chimes coming from the 2011 chevy traverse. then on the dash read traction control off stability control off service traction control service stability control engine power reduced. i went form 40 mph to 20mph in less than a second. contacted the dealership was told to stop driving immediately and have it towed to them. i get a call the next morning regarding the traverse and an estimate of $230.00 for a diagnostic and cleaning the throttle. not even a month later it happened again right before i was about to enter a highway, i called the dealership again and they told me to have it towed and they will perform another diagnostic and give me another estimate for the exact same problem. they called back later that day with another estimate of over $500.00. i told them i was not paying another cent to repair the exact same problem that i brought the truck in for the first time. he gave me some story about it could be 1001 problems that causes this problem and i told him that is the purpose of a diagnostic to find out what the problem is the first time. long story short i did not pay the $500.00 to fix my traverse a second time for a repeat problem. the worker made it seem like he did me a favor for not charging me. thank god i was not onb a highway when this happened or that i did not have my children with me. chevy needs to fix this problem asap before a very bad accident happens and they will be sued. *js
I bought a 2011 traverse last winter. i was so excited about my new family car. wednesday, the service stabilitrak, service traction control and reduced engine speed came on with no notice. luckily, i was on a neighborhood side street taking my kids to school. i called to setup an appt to have a chevy dealer look at it but after turning it off while filling the tires up the lights all went off. called back to see if they still wanted to see it and they said no because it must have just been a sensor... appt canceled. thursday drove with no problems. now today, friday, i hop on the expressway in chicago traffic and bam right as i am merging, ding ding and my car just revs and won't get up past 40 mph, all the same service lights came on. so scary! i have my little kids in the backseat and terrified to pull over on the side of the eisenhower, slowly get to the next exit as i pray we won't get rear ended. call as soon as i make it home for another appt and the first time any chevy dealer near me has open is 4 days from now. looks like we will be parked at home for the next 4 days. it really frustrates me that we bought this "reliable family vehicle" that i am now scared to drive my family in. it's even worse now googling this issue and seeing many other having the exact same issues and nothing is being done for us. *tr
Four times today as i was driving my chevy traverse the traction control went off, the stability control went off, and a message flashed that i could experience a reduction in power, which happened immediately after the notification. the car barely had enough power to make it safely out of traffic. this happened one other time last year but when we brought it to the dealer they could not replicate the problem. *tr
Have had two incidents where the stability track has come on and had to pull over and turn vehicle off wait 10 minutes and restart and finally it goes off. the last incident was i was driving the light comes on saying engine power reducing and it drops speed down to where i have to pull over not to get hit. i pull over turn the truck off and it starts but reduces power again and turns itself off this happens about three times before i give up. i then have to call a tow truck when they arrive and tries to start it does start now. i have been having this vehicle for 6 months. *tr
The first time this happened, i was driving a hilly back road from school the service stabilitrac and traction control warning lights came on then the engine power is being reduced warning light came on and the car immediately slowed to a crawl with very little steering control. i was able to drive it on the shoulder to my mechanic at no more than 20 mph and he said that 4 of the 6 coils needed to be replaced. a $700 repair. second time it happened (12/3/14) i was driving on i-95 doing 65 and all the same lights came on again but this time the car instantly reduced the speed and i was crawling at 10mph. i had several near misses with other cars as we were all traveling at the posted speed in rush hour traffic. i struggled to get the car to the shoulder. i stopped the car and restarted and everything reset and i was able to drive for about a mile or two and it recurred. i happened 8 times before i was able to get it to the chevy dealer. the dealer took 3 days to try and diagnose it and said it was probably the throttle control. they replaced it $493! and told me they did not know if it would fix the problem - it may last 1,000 miles or 20,000 miles. if it happens again i will have to bring it back and they would have to take apart the engine which would cost me $5000!!! this car is unsafe! i/my family could be injured or killed if it happens again! recall it! codes shown in diagnostic were p0300, p0305, p0221, p0121. *tr
Traction control turned off, stabilitrak trak turned off and then it said they needed service, immediately after it then started down shifting and quickly slowing itself down. it is a real hazard on icy roads and on the interstate in traffic when the vehicle quickly slows itself down. many posts on the internet with this problem repeatedly occurring with multiple repair attempts at dealerships. i'm starting on my 2nd trip to the dealership. this is a definite safety issue when the car takes control and slows itself down. by shutting off the car it will reset the system and then it will work properly for a while. but this problem keeps recurring after it has been driven for a while. *tr
On 9-11-14 the power steering went out while driving. took the vehicle to the dealership & i was told i needed a power steering solenoid. 10-23-14 power steering goes out again while driving so back to the dealership i go. this time i was told that gm has issued a bulletin on the problem and the power steering pump needed to be replaced. 11-10-14 power steering goes out again. go back to the dealership and was told that the ecbtm needed to be replaced and it was not part of the bulletin? my issue is that i do not feel gm went deep enough to fix the problem. i know 3 people in my area that have had the same problem. when your driving in heavy traffic and your have no power steering it creates a dangerous situation for the vehicle occupants and opposing drivers. you would think gm would step up and fix the problem the first time. i have spoken to chevrolet customer asst 2 times with zero response about fixing the problem. the last time being with tiffany. my case # is 71-151168370
Vehicle was 2011 chevy traverse w/ awd with history (four instances) of engine oil leaks/requiring engine removal and reinstall. vehicle was on interstate when awd/vehicle stability control lights went on. dic indicated 'service stabiltrack', 'service awd' and 'awd disabled'. at that time, vehicle was 'chugging' but shortly after chugging got much worse to the extent that the vehicle could not accelerate or maintain speed at cruise, or without cruise up normal hills on an interstate. when gas pedal was pressed further, rpm/speed would increase but then drop sharply (500-1000rpm) multiple times and no further power could be applied. vehicle slowed down to about 50mph at the top of a hill. happened for the next 15-20 miles until it could be pulled over. vehicle was taken in once right after original occurrence, all three lights had gone off at point and vehicle drove normally after that. service center indicated a wheel censor (front right) was reading defective information. they cleaned 'dust' from the sensor. happened again about two weeks later, similar circumstances/results. service center indicated wheel sensor was bad, they replaced (at my cost) and had no further instances for about four months. similar situation happened again today (7/19/2014, conditions and results). however, the engine chugging was much worse and vehicle could not be driven safely on the interstate, would not accelerate or maintain safe interstate speed. *tr
Traveling at 70 mph, suddenely traction control light came on, then engine powered down, i find that this is a common problem with this car, why isn't something being done. this has happened 4 times since march 5, 2014. at shop now will cost me over $500.00 to replace the throttle control. this needs to be a recall. *tr
While driving down the highway at high rates of speeds, all of a sudden the dashboard display lights up with all kinds of messages. it says to check traction control and reducing engine power. the engine reduces power and when you step on the gas it doesn't go anywhere. this happened a few times. at first i thought maybe it was ice buildup but after it happened a few more times i looked online where i came across a forum and found out there were hundreds of other chevy traverse owners who had the same problems. it happened on the highway when i was driving and i almost got smashed from behind by people going over 70mph. the car would barely move. the traverse was only 2 years old. after taking it to the dealer they stated it was the throttle body. it wasn't covered under warranty. i believe it should've been since the throttle body is part of the engine. how can a vehicle 2-3years old and have a 100,000 mile power train warranty not be covered. after talking to a few chevy people i found out this has happened to other types of gm vehicles too. they stated there has been bulletins put out on earlier models but never a actual recall. i called gm corporate but they didn't want to hear it. very serious problem that needs to be addressed. *tr
Received service stabilitrak and traction control off errors 4 times since feb 2014. dealer has "fixed" 3 times. *tr
I was driving at 65 mph, and hit a small bump where a bridge ends and the pavement resumes. the check engine light came on as well as service stabiltrak and reduced engine power indicators. i was able to limp the vehicle to the local dealership for repairs, but at a very reduced speed. the dealer found that the "throttle position sensor" to be faulty, and after replacing that item the vehicle ran normally. this was not covered under warranty. the repair cost was $540. i am told that these are a common problem both by the dealer as well as by an independent shop. i am surprised that: 1. a part such as this is failing in a vehicle with so few miles 2. that this was not covered under any type of warranty. *tr
Stabilitrak and traction control issues. car reduces acceleration during low and higher speeds of driving. very dangerous to my family and other drivers on the road to have a reduction in acceleration while traveling during rush hour traffic on a busy highway. i have noticed this has become an issue with many owners of gm vehicles. *tr
While driving on the highway, multiple warnings and lights came on and speed was reduced by the engine to 20 mph from 65mph. if there had been another vehicle behind us at the time we would have easily been hit because of the rapid deceleration. the fix was to replace the throttle body on the engine. after much research this appears to be a very common issue in chevrolet vehicles, and because of the manner of the vehicle slowing down so rapidly i fear that there have probably already been accidents related to this issue. *tr
Vehicle was traveling at highway speed when traction control/stabilitrak lights came on and engine power was reduced. the traverse speed dropped from 60 mph to 20 mph in just a few seconds on the interstate. we were fortunate that there was not a large vehicle behind us that would have mowed right over my family before the vehicle was moved to the shoulder. the throttle body was replaced and the problem has not recurred.
When driving normally down the road warning text flashes and displayed stabilitrack disabled, traction control off, and reducing engine power. the vehicle suddenly decelerated and almost caused a crash due to the sudden deceleration. *tr
Driving on the highway and all of a sudden there was an alert on the dashboard saying that "traction control off" then immediately after another alert came on stating that "engine power has been reduced". i was unable to accelerate fully. i turned the car off and back on and it reset it but the same alerts came back on minutes later. the next day i took it to the dealership and they said the throttle body had to be replaced. this seems to be a common occurrence for these vehicles and after researching online i have found hundreds of others that have had the same problem. this is extremely dangerous and chevy/gm should seriously consider recalling this part. *tr
When driving my 2011 traverse, it would reduce engine power and advise service. it would drop power to the point car was not drive able. i would shut car off. wait and then able to drive it at low speeds (15 mph). this of course created a dangerous situation on the highway. *tr
When driving 2 different days this week on highway with cruise set service traction control light and service stabilitrak light came on.when car turned off it will go off and not come back on for a few days. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet traverse. while driving approximately 60 mph, the service stabilitrac, traction control off, and engine power reduced messages suddenly displayed and the vehicle decelerated to approximately 20 mph. the failure recurred on multiple occasions and the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. the contact indicated that the dealer replaced a computer and throttle body, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000. ...updated 06/09/15 *bf the consumer also stated fluids were leaking from the vehicle. updated 06/25/15*jb
June 2014. was driving on city expressway when suddenly "service stabilitrack/traction control system off" came on. our suv suddenly started losing power. took truck to chevrolet dealer service dept. service performed. tech said he found nothing wrong. did note that i had other recalls pending on vehicle. july 2014. was driving on interstate 40 at 11 p.m. and was 80 miles from home. i was driving alone. suddenly "service stabilitrack/traction control system off" came on. suv started losing power. was unable to get above 65. at some points rpm was high then loss of power. suv felt as if it was trying to cut off. have read in a forum ([xxx]) that this is happening to a lot of traverses. we purchased this suv two years ago and really like it as it's perfect for me as i have to transport my disabled iraqi war veteran husband to and from his va medicals and we travel the interstate a lot. is this another issue that gm needs to add to its recall? we love our vehicle but now have a serious concern about this vehicle's safety. *tr information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Engine power was suddenly reduced while driving with the messages: traction control off, service traction control, service stabilitrack, engine power is reduced. dealer found code p2135 was generated (faulty throttle position sensor). throttle body unit was replaced. the same problem occurred 2 years later on 6/12/2015. again the throttle body needed to be replace. based on my experience the throttle body unit design is systemically bad and has caused two safety related incidents.
We were moving from south carolina to wisconsin which is a 1,000 mile trip. on the morning of february 9th, 2013 we were about to enter cincinnati on the second leg of our trip when all the sudden the dash displayed a message that said trak system failed, soon followed by another message indicating the engine power had been reduced. the vehicle went from 60 mph to approximately 20 mph and the engine began to shudder with a feeling of loss of firing cylinders, and loss of vehicle steering control. so we pulled over, read the book, and shut the car off like it said, waited 15 seconds and then turned the car back on. the car was fine and we finished that leg of the trip hoping nothing else would happen. it happened on a very busy stretch of i-75n near covington, ky and it could have caused a crash. my entire family was in the car. so i called and spoke to a gm technician at tire discounters in cincinnati who stated it probably is your throttle body as he had just repaired the same issue on another gm car. being that it was saturday, there was nothing i could do and we had to still travel an additional 300 miles to wisconsin. the car only had 45,000 miles on it the day of incident. the next day february 10 2013 we continued our trip and right in the middle of indiana the same issue happened and again we took the same action. again it could have caused an accident but we were able to pull over. on tuesday february 19, 2013 i took the car in to be looked at by andrew chevrolet in glendale, wi and the diagnosis was the same. the throttle body had gone bad and would need to be repaired for $519.00. the service manager stated that they too had changed them on multiple cars. gm needs to recall the 2011 traverse and repair this part before someone gets in an accident and gets killed. i also noticed this is the second time in three months nhtsa has received a complaint about this issue. *tr udpated 03/14/13
Same as everyone else... 2011 chevy traverse with intermittent and sporadic episodes of "traction control off, service stabilitrak, and engine power reduced" between 60,000 and 110,000 miles. i could be dead many times over the past 3.5 years during work commute on 70mph, 4 lane highway. problem resolves for unknown and unreliable amts of time... even after recommended fixes. gm must be held accountable before more people die! i have made sure to keep all documentaion and names, file #s and complaints, so that if/when a disaster happens to my family or others, there will be no question as to fault.
Was at target one evening and noticed a sweet unusual smell coming from the traverse. i took a look underneath the car and noticed pink substance dripping from the engine. upon leaving target i noticed that the arm on the temperature gauge was higher than normal. i drove 40mph for a mile and the gauge shot up to the top. i was 25 minutes from home. i had to stop 6 times to let the engine cool down in order to make it home and i had all four of my kids in the car with me as well. it totally freaked them out. i had to rent a car for the weekend as i needed transportation to get around. i had a company that will come to your home to fix your car. found out it was my fuel pump. after 4 hours of labor and $400.00 later it was fixed. four months later, today may 10, 2013 as i'm driving home from work, the car begins to beep and the traction control light and abs light comes on and service stabilitrak system and traction control off displays in the display window. it seemed as if it was hard to accelerate as well. this is the 2nd thing that is probably going to be fairly expensive to fix that has happened to this car. it is the weekend and now have to try and find a place to take my car and have it serviced. seeing now that there have been several complaints with this specific component on the car, chevrolet needs to recall this car and fix this. this is very dangerous and could cause an accident. i think it's ridiculous to have to continue to pay for things that continue to break down on this vehicle. i am a single parent and cannot continue to financially be able to do this. *tr
purchased 2011 traverse on monday, by tuesday evening the traction control and the stabilitrak service soon codes were showing. the present mileage is 440 and this started around 350 miles on odometer. also, while backing out of driveway on incline put car in drive and let off brake began pressing gas, the car continued to roll backwards until i pressed the brake and got on the gas at the same time. *tr
