Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

It bag for front driver light is on do not know why? there is some kind of electrical short and i've had it checked by two companies cannot find it i've had new battery, new alternator and still car stops working i get car jumped and can put key in ignition to try to start car and when i shut car off too soon or why i try to start car it's not working and then i cannot get key out of the ignition this has happened at least 5 times car only has 84883 miles on it this happenes if front of house when i go to start car. i am listing last time this happened was today but the airbag for the drivers side is always on now for about 5 months

Engine dies while driving (losing propulsion, steering, brakes, etc.) and the key will not restart when turned forward (in neutral), while coasting, but will restart when the key is turned back and then forward again. in this case, coasting down and braking and turning right, possibly with right turn signal on. died right before starting to turn the steering wheel at about 15-20 mph. it was a clear dry 100 degree afternoon, on smooth pavement. we live on a bumpy dirt road that is just over a quarter of a mile long to reach our house. similar to other gm ignition key / no air bag recall programs for similar model year vehicles, such as the hhr. there is no recall, but how many people does this happen to? any deaths, yet? i don't believe the air bags may have worked, should we have been involved in an accident. there was no information shown in the diver information center display (dic) and there were warning lights on in the dashboard, to indicate that the power was on to the instrument cluster (ic), but that the motor was off. i could not select brakes and steering as being affected, but with no motor, there is no vacuum brake boosting going on, and no power steering either.

My window in the rear passenger side malfunctioning.... it would let down on it's own.this happens when my vehicle in drive and when park.

I was driving down the highway and my lights just went off. the interior lights were on but the headlights went out. i stopped the car, turned it off, waited a few minutes and turned it back on. the lights did not come back on. the high beam lights still worked and i drove home with my brights on. when i got home and turned off the car i tried them again and this time they came on normally. this is the third time this has happened at night that they just went off.

While driving both of my headlights stopped working. this effected both daytime running lights and low beams. high beams are still operational. researching the issue easily shows that the issue is a faulty headlight relay. i even tried to replace both bulbs and checked all fuses to verify. i contacted the service department of frei chevrolet in marquette michigan and they refused to even tell me if they had the parts in stock to resolve the issue. this will be the last time that i deal with them.

My son and i were driving 65 mph on the interstate.... car just died, no warning. i had to veer suddenly to the right to make the ramp or take a chance on the shoulder. since this first time the car has also not wanted to start. i thought it had to do with the alarm locking me out , but it appears it is the ignition switch. the car has on multiply time died while i was driving. i've tried reaching out to chevy and gm but, each is wanting me to pay for a diagnostic. i do not have the money to spend on this. i don't want to die because i can't afford to pay for their faulty ignition. please help us.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the cruise control started to drop, the engine started to lose power, and all the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. the contact coasted to the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. in addition, the contact stated that the failure recurred twice. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and had informed the contact that there were no open recalls. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

75k on 2008 trailblazer.... instrument panel lights and audio display work intermittently. seems to be connected to cold temps? they are off at startup but as suv is driven and warms up... the audio display appears. the radio/cd player work even when the display is off. just started happening this fall (2016). also.. the low tire pressure light comes on only in cold temps but goes out after driving a few miles. *tr

I have had my 2008 trailblaer for a year now. i have been having major electrical issues for the past few months including my battery light and other popping up ramdonly and my truck not wanting to drive or run right. now my exhaust manifold is completely cracked thru,

Takata recall, my 2008 chevy trailblazer has 110,000 miles on it and for the past year it seems that i've been having electrical problems. this problem have been going on for about 6 month. every now and then my car wont start and i have to get a boost off to get it started again. i took my suv to get the battery and alternator checked and they said everything looked great. then after that i noticed that my rear brake lights were going haywire with blinking lights going on and off and the car was not on. after i noticed the blinking lights, i went to try to start the car and it was dead. also, my front passenger door motor went out , so the window wont go up or down.. this is very frustrating can someone please tell me if there are recalls on any of these problems.

I recently started having problems, one being my brake lights don't always work. i took it to a local chevy dealer and was told it all had to do with an electrical problem as is impossible to fix. shouldn't my vehicle be recalled? i'm a safe driver and it's a bit upsetting knowing that i don't know if and when my break lights are working. especially when i have small children with me. we recently moved, as my husband was following me, he was the one that noticed my brake lights weren't working.

On )9/16/15, i was driving my 2008 chev trailblazer on the highway at 55mph and the ignition switch failed and the the vehicle rolled to a stop. it would not start again and was towed by glenn's towing service faribault mn 55021 to harry brown's service center faribault mn 55021. they replaced the ignition switch and charged $389.25. i'm concerned if they put in the same switch with a defect or one that has been improved to eliminate the defect as chevrolet has been recalling ignition switches on other vehicles but not the trailblazer. i was lucky i didn't get hit when the truck stopped.

The driver door module does not work when it rains. i took this to a dealer and after they tested it told me it needed to be replaced $500. for part plus labor that they could not quote. i checked on line to find out if gm had recall on these vehicles and found that they did 2004 - 2007 mine is a 2008 experiences the exact issues that the others had but gm can't help me because my vin # is not listed. why did gm not try to help me with this issue? when over 184,000 vehicles where recalled for this issue. what do i need to do to see if i can get help to replace this? i wouldn't ask but i feel its only right to replace it after all those vehicles where recalled and mine is doing the exact same thing. it happens every time it rains apparently it leaks in the door some how and it gets wet and want work it controls seat heat, all door locks and windows and driver window. i purchased this vehicle used in 2014 and it has done it every since i have owned it by the time it gets back to the dealer its working again. usually a day or so and it will work. this time its not working

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the ignition was turned to the on position and there was smoke coming from the hood without warning. the contact turned the ignition back to the off position and opened the hood and discovered the head lamp driving module relay on fire. the contact extinguished the fire. a police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. the vehicle was taken dealer where it was diagnosed that the accessory board failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 89,471.

While driving low beam lights shut off while driving at night. will not come on now! this is a very dangerous situation for safety reasons. i am 73 years old and afraid to drive at night and also daytime with no daytime running lights. please advise if there is a recall or solution so i can have dealer get it fixed. loyal chevrolet customer for 50 years that needs desperate help. thank you! *tr ## vin passed ## chevy trailblazer lt2 2008 ##

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the driver side door window would not close and the door locks randomly locked and unlocked. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electrical door mechanism was faulty and needed to be replaced. in addition, a burning odor was present inside the vehicle coming from the driver side dual climate control. the mechanic diagnosed that the temperature actuator was inoperable. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the contact also indicated that the liftgate would not open. the failure mileage was 35,000.

Airbag light came on and had a bad impact sensor. had to replace to pass inspection. suv only 6 years old. stability control light comes on every time i hit a bump in the road. *tr

While i was driving down the road, both curtain side air bags deployed at same time. there were no other cars on the road, so i was able to stop the vehicle without causing an accident. the airbag on the driver side pushed me over so hard that it broke my center console. my lower back still hurts, but i am hoping the pain will go away. my left ear is still ringing and has not returned to normal hearing yet caused from the exploding noise from the airbag deployment. both of the front seat belts will not work and the dashboard has so many lights going off, i don't know if there are any other problems. the dealership that i purchased the vehicle from said the damages could run as much as $4000.00 which i do not have and my insurance doesn't cover this since there was no accident that caused this. the dealership service dept. also said they have never heard of any vehicles doing this. after research, i see that this has happened alot. *tr

Low beam lights went out. we replaced bulbs, they worked for a short time. low beams went out two or three days later. went to local garage, they replaced wire from battery to lights as they were not getting any power. lights worked for two or three days. trailblazer was in shop for a week, unable to find issue. called chevrolet dealership, at first they thought it was a 2007 which has a recall for the issue. found it was a 2008, no recall. found bad/burnt/exploded fuse labeled 15016745. have found multiple other people with same issue online. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. the failure occurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 61,553. updated 02/24/15*lj updated 06/10/2015 *js

The ignition switch has been acting like the ones that are recalled with the 05 - 07 model years. our vehicle when you turn the ignition on it acts like its dead, even with no key in ignition you can turn switch a little and the gear selector light comes on as well as the battery light, and we have had two dead batteries from this. *tr

On the 2008 trailblazer, had two problems with the ignition switch. in april 2011 the tumbler mechanism portion of the ignition switch failed at approximately 27,225 miles and was replace under warranty. in may 2014 had difficulty starting the vehicle when the ignition switch was in the start position. was able to start the vehicle and drive to the chevrolet dealership. while waiting for the service technician, i moved the tilt steering wheel to a different position and the vehicle stopped running. this would have been an extremely dangerous situation under normal driving conditions. it was diagnosed that the electrical portion of the ignition switch had failed. the ignition switch was replaced. the approximate mileage was 71878. *tr

While driving on a steep downhill curvy mountain pass, the key got jerked into the off position. luckily i quickly restarted the engine. this is very dangerous on roads with a sharp incline and/or decline as one would need to be able to brake and steer the car into a safe area. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet trail blazer. the contact stated the key became lodged in the ignition. the vehicle was not taken into the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 144,000.

While sitting the parked vehicle, with the key in ignition in the on position but engine off the dash began to pour smoke into the vehicle. upon inspecting under the hood there were burned and melted wires leading to fuse box. electrical fire occurred. *tr

Purchased this vehicle from a dealer. the next day the truck was dead. it has since had the battery replaced 3 times. the exhaust manifold cracked at 82,000. the number 4 position on the blower does not work. the stabiltrak lights come on for no reason and go off for no reason. with all of the complaints, something should be done. *tr

Since owning the vehicle; purchased used in 2005 from a dealer; we have had to replace the ignition switch twice. called to report problem to chevrolet since all the news of ignition switches; they didn't seem concerned or interested since this vehicle was not listed on the recall list. it has left me stranded twice and has cost me approx. $400. *tr

The electronic control module "fried" and caused the brakes to "fail" - specifically, the brake pedal needed to be pressed to the floor although it had little effect. this sounds very much like the failure seen in the recall #3: 2014 chevrolet malibu. the ecm failure also caused a short in the airbag sensor. (a repair was done on the brakes - but i am not sure it was needed except for the ecm problem based upon the description of the malibu recall). the dot reference for this is: 656599. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated when the brakes were applied the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the ignition switch was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 86,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact mentioned that the check engine and air bag warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the ignition was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 61,000 and the current mileage was 63,000. *tr

I've noticed several times that my vehicle will turn on when i place the ignition key into the "on" position right before i turn the key all the way to start it. i'm not sure if it was due to the cold weather or not. also, my engine light is always on and i had it tested which came back as an emissions control problem. which could be the gas cap i haven't paid to fix yet. *tr

I had to replace the driver side window motor at about 30,000 miles and now the passenger side motor is acting up and will probably have to be replaced - i am currently at 38000 miles. seeing so many other complaints, including vehicle door fires, this should be recalled. *tr

After stopping at a stop sign the vehicle stopped dead in the intersection. would not restart, could not be steered as there was no power at all. vehicle was towed to dealership where a "new" ignition switch was installed. but no new shorter key with a hole in it was given to me. how can i be sure the new switch will not malfunction. this is exactly what has happened to the recalled vehicles. if i had gone two blocks further it would have been in a busy major highway intersection. so far no response from complaints to various gm sources. *tr

Incident with my 2008 chevy trailblazer incident reported on sept. 9 at 9:30pm which occurred as i was driving home from a cubscouts meeting, with my 2 sons in the vehicle. as i was driving home around 845pm home from our methodist church, which is located about .3 mile from my house. the lights on the dashboard and the headlights were not working all of a sudden and i could smell something burning as i a driving. the time of the day was dusk and starting to get dark but a clear sunny day before this occurred. my oldest son, who is 9, said what is that smell and then my other son, who is 4 years old also said the same thing. i drove slowly down the hill as this occurred off the road and the red light near our subdivision entrance. i live in hixson tn. i also noticed there was black smoke coming from under the hood area near the fuse box area on the drivers side vehicle. i got home within 5 minutes of this happening and immediately pulled my car into my drive way and told both my boys to get out of the car. i pulled the hood release under the steering wheel and went to lift the hood and could see black smoke was coming from the fuse box area. i popped the end clips that keeps the fuse box in place and opened the fuse box. when i did this, there was a spark of flame and smoke that put itself out when i lifted the lid off the fuse box and you can see what happened(photo attached for you to see). you can see there is significant damage to many fuses that control the electronics in the vehicle. i have not driven this vehicle since this occurred as the person i talked to instructed me not to move the vehicle. i would hate to get legal counsel involved and the national safety and transportation commission involved and would hope chevy would like to get this resolved. Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the front driver's side electric panel for the windows was not fully functioning. the failure recurred intermittently. the rear windows would electronically open but when attempting to close the windows from the front drivers side main electric panel, it would require the contact to manually close the windows. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 102000.

Drivers side door electrical system not working properly creating difficult problems. *tr

Driver door lost power not working at all, all other functions (passenger, rear, and trunk locking functions work) there was a recall on this same function for 2006-2007 but 2008 was not include. the corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. a power short in door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. the short cause overhearing, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire. after review with my service provider this is same problem with the pass recall. chevrolet recall does not go far enough to include all model year's after 2007 which also be checked for older parts place in newer models. *tr

Water got on the window switches because the drivers window was left open a little during a rain storm, and none of the windows or door lock switches on the drivers door worked for 2 days. i know that there's a re-call for 2006 & 2007 model years for the same reason, so why not on the 2008? *tr

All electrical power was lost on drivers door. window remains open. side mirrors, heated seats, door locks and interior light is not working on this door. *tr

Repeated issue. smell of smoke/burning triggers dash warning signals. same dash warning signals come on without smell of smoke/burning. cycle repeats itself without pattern, and includes during 4 wheel use. vehicle taken to multiple chevrolet dealerships for service (utah, north carolina and washington) with the dash warning lights on. utah and nc claim unable to replicate event or identify problem, so listed as unknown without correction. gmc executive office interdiction resulted in replacement of stereo even though dash light indicate powertrain & electrical. stereo broke 2 mos later. gmeo and wa identified fuse issue related to 4 wheel drive, but unable to replicate smoke/burning before claiming issue resolved. dash warning lights constantly come on and off indicating problem with powertrain/electrical. gmeo closed case as resolved. *tr

In the fall of 2012, i had to replace an ignition switch in my trailblazer at approx. 90,000 miles. then, in july of 2013, we were driving on interstate 95 in ct, heavy traffic, high speeds, and all of a sudden my car just died. i, fortunately, was in the right hand lane and was able to drift off the road. a ct trooper sat behind us for an hour while we waited for aaa. it was a sunday. we were towed to a chevrolet dealer in old saysbrook, essex ct. had to spend the night in a hotel and that monday, the dealer put in another ignition switch. my mileage was a little over 100,000. have all the documentation. have you looked into ignition switch failure in trailblazers? is my car safe to drive? would appreciate a response. *tr

Electrical power distribution box power wiring/ribbon that is under left rear seat overheated and caught papers inside car on fire and caught entire car on fire from overheated copper ribbon that failed to trip circuit breaker to stop wiring ribbon overheating. this defect is common and when the manufacturer changed from wires to copper ribbon foil it created a means for wiring/ribbon overheating and source of fire to begin. *tr

on starting vehicle all warning lights came on. stopped engine and restarted and this time battery light, abs, seat belt warning and parking brake light stayed on. windows would not work along with power locks, radio, onstar, and lights. *tr
