Problems with 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

On average, the 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE and its various aspects after 59 777 miles.

Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE problems on 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Gas gauge does not work. reads empty even after vehicle is filled with fuel. check engine is always on because of gauge problem. *kb

2007 chevy trailblazer gas sensor has malfunctioned. found out that it is not under warranty! i have found many complaints about this on the internet. there should be a recall on this part and it should be replaced or covered by my warranty! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer ls/lt. when the fuel tank was full the fuel gauge displayed zero and the fuel indicator bell rang indicating that the vehicle was out of fuel the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. the dealer performed a diagnostic test that did not display a failure code. when the dealer test drove the vehicle, the failure did not occur. the manufacturer advised the contact to take vehicle back to the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 36,800 and the current mileage was 40,346.

Gas gauge does not read correctly. sometimes reads high, sometimes reads low, reads empty after filling the tank. gauge sometimes moves noticably while standing still. dealer replaced the sensor on the fuel level sender at a cost of $393.39 - this fixed the problem.

Gas gauge malfunction. *tr

At 58,000 miles the gas gauge on my 2007 chevy trailblazer stopped working. my check engine light went on, so i took into my authorized chevrolet dealer. they charged me $95.00 dollars and said that it was a dirty throttle plate. a note on my receipt said that a faulty gas gauge could cause the light to come on. the gage fluctuated between full to empty for awhile, but now it does not work at all. i have to use my trip odometer set to 300 miles to estimate when i have to fill up with gas again. this is a dangerous situation, because i never know if when the engine light comes on if it is the gas gauge or something more serious. it can be a serious problem when driving on the expressway or a long trip. i did complain to gm on case #[xxx], but they refused to fix the problem. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I noticed the first time there was an issue with my gas gauge when i was sitting at the bank drive thru and it dinged at me that i needed gas. i thought it odd, because i thought i had just filled up. i went to fill up and it only cost $20, so then i knew something was wrong. gas gauge stayed at 1/2 tank regardless of full or empty, then got stuck at 1/4 tank, now stays on empty at all times. i have to keep track of miles and always fill up (which is not easy if the funds are not available). i've since run out of gas 3 times. luckily, either time, neither of my 2 small kids were in the car with me. this is very frustrating, not only running out of gas, but even more so hearing that gm is only willing to cover 1/2 of the expense, if you take your truck to an already over priced dealership. *kb

The gas gage on my 2007 chevy trailblazer fails to give accurate readings, even after filling it up, it can read full, or immediately drop to empty, or just constantly changes. i do highway traveling up to 200 miles back and forth to college and it is a constant distraction. *tr

Gas gauge is faulty. does not read accurate fuel levels. when you fill the tank the check engine light turns on and then the fuel level will drop to empty and then back up to half tank. *tr

I was at sams club filling up my vehicle when the gas gauge went to empty and the light came on. the gas gauge thereafter began fluctuating and continues to do the same. most of the time it starts out showing an inconsistent reading then goes to empty. fuel descending unit gone bad. an inquiry on the internet reveals a large quantity of trailblazers have the same issues. the dealerships are also very familiar with the issue. my vehicle had 49,000 miles and some change with this first occurred. can you imagine running out of gas in a rural area with or without kids with no help in site, or even worse in a urban high crime area passing through. gm has failed to issue a recall for this problem despite the large quantity of vehicles exhibiting this problem. i found the average mileage was 52,000 when this occurs. this repair is rather costly requiring the gas tank to be removed. at this point i am trying to keep up with my mileage, fortunately for me i did not run out of gas when this first occurred. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel light turned on intermittently which caused the check engine light to illuminate. the failure occurred even after the fuel tank was full. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the fuel level sensor was defective. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the contact had not spoken with the manufacturer. the vin was unavailable. the current mileage was approximately 45,000. the failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

Gas gauge does not work.. my mother has ran out of gas several times over the past few years because she has to calculate her mileage. it is ridiculous that she has receipts all over the place with miles and gallons written on them . my complaint is if this is a chevy problem why do i have to pay half to get it fixed? we also own a chevy hd truck with same problem. everytime i take my car to get an oil change or repaired people always tell me about other trailblazer customers who have the same problem! what's up with this? *tr

My fuel sender is blown. gas gauge light is always on and reads empty. this is a huge problem with trailblazers and there is no recall because we have to call gm with the issues we have in order for them to have a recall. so please if anyone has a fuel gauge problem in your trailblazer please call 1-866-790-5600 and lets get this rolling as a recall people.. the more people that call soon the faster the recall will happen. let"s do this!!!! *ln

The gas gauge on my trailblazer quit working in june of 2010. i was told at a dealership that i would have to have a diagnostic test that would cost me $90 before they could find out what was wrong with it and then of course it will be more money spent. i can't afford to have it fixed at this time. i keep track of my mileage by using one of the trip meters which tells we how many miles i have driven and figure out how far i can go before i need a fill up. i'd much rather have it fixed under a recall!

Ran out of gas because the gas gauge had quit working approximately 2 months before this incident. the automobile becomes very difficult to steer because the power steering pump quits working. you must apply a tremendous amount of force to turn the steering wheel just to get the vehicle off the road and you can't turn it quickly. it is a very dangerous situation. it happened again approximately 11/10/2010

Fuel gauge system stopped working. resulted in stalled vehicle. gauge would intermittently work. now it no longer registers any fuel. *tr

The fuel sensor on my 2007 chevy trailblazer has failed. for the first 3 months of experiencing the problem, the sensor would function when the vehicle was refueled. however, the dashboard gage would quickly (less than 50 miles) drop to "fuel level low." for the past 9 months, the sensor has failed completely and the fuel gage always displays "fuel level low." i ran out of gas 3 times on the highway as a result of this problem. this is a very serious safety concern. unexpectedly running out of fuel and not being able to monitor fuel levels puts owners with the same problem in a unnecessary compromised safety situation. i now monitor the level of fuel in the vehicle with the trip odometer gage. i know that i have to refuel at around 300 miles from fill up.

Gas gauge would not work - did not give accurate account of how much gas was in vehicle even after filling up. gas light was on and would ding as if empty. took car into chevrolet dealership & it was a sensor in the gas tank. gas tank had to be "pulled" and sensor had to be replaced. would have cost me $800, but luckily i purchased an extended warranty when i bought the vehicle. i have seen numerous reports of this same thing happening to others with a 2007 trailblazer - is this not a recall? *tr

After fueling our 2007 trailblazer, the gas gauge very slowly started to intermittently go to empty and/or 'ding' and turn on the low fuel light. now, the low fuel light stays on at all times. we have been told that it is the fuel gauge sensor and will cost $500-$1000 to fix and that many, many others have been having this same issue. *tr

Fuel gauge fluctuates erratically. tank can be full but the indicator light will come on and start "binging" while driving. *tr

Gas gauge reads empty when half full, fuel pump replaced. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving at an unknown speed the fuel gauge began to read as if the fuel tank were empty. upon refueling the vehicle the fuel gauge operated normally for approximately 15 miles before reading as if there was no fuel in the tank. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed that the sending unit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued to occur. the failure and current mileages were 36,000. the vin was unavailable.

Chevy trailblazer fuel sending unit failed. the gauge starting acting erratically and now does not work at all. it is now extremely difficult to know how much fuel is in the car at any given time. *tr

My gas gauge used to jump all over and now just read empty. it is triggering the gas light and check engine light. i have run out of gas with my 1 year old pregnant on a hwy bridge where my sons grandmother had to push the car while a police officer followed to warn oncoming traffic. it was a scary ordeal and i don't understand why something like this is failing in a 3 year old vehicle. *tr

Fuel light on 2007 chevy trailblazer continually reads empty. even after being filled up. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated the fuel tank sender was not sending the correct level of fuel and he was unable to determine how much fuel was actually in the vehicle. the dealer advised the contact that there were no related recalls. the manufacturer was aware of the failure. the vehicle had not been repaired. the current mileage was approximately 82,000. the failure mileage was 71,272.

Fuel level sensor fails in such a way as to indicate the car has fuel when it does not. this could result in a breakdown on a busy highway leading to a crash with injury or loss of life.

I have experienced problems with my 2007 chevy trailblazer since i purchased this car. the transmission messed up originally and now i am having problems with my gas gauge indicator. this recent problem started last year 2010. the levels were reading inaccurately at that time and seemed to have repaired itself. the beginning of this year, the indicators stopped working again. i never know how much gas is in my truck and i am paranoid and constantly going to the store to add more gas. i am understanding that this appears to be a problem with the majority of chevy vehicles and gm actually knows that the problem exist and has done absolutely nothing to help the millions of loyal customers that purchased these cars. there is no reason that this all should be happening to my vehicle that i purchased brand new; so i am the original and only owner. is there any help for the consumers that have purchased gm vehicles. i could see if this was a problem with one line of vehicles manufactured by gm but this problem appears to be all across the board. i have run out of gas numerous of times because i never know how much gas is in this vehicle. this is absolutely insane that gm can scam millions of customers and not fix a known problem. *tr

I bought this 2007 chevy trailblazer and baby it like there was no tomorrow. now everything is breaking. first it was the racking pinion steering. some how the seal busted. second, the fuel gauge began to register empty even though it was full and joint ball went bad making some vibration and squealing sound. i got the fuel gauge fixed and joint ball, now the struts that lift rear window doesn't work. i was so eager to get this trailblazer but it is costing me more money than what it is worth. *tr

The gas gauge on my 2007 chevy trailblazer began registering erratically in 2010. approximately 3 months later, it completely quit working. the car stalled and died as i was crossing 2 lanes of traffic from a driveway. as it was not under a manufacturer warranty, chevy has now agreed to pay 50% of the cost of repair due to previous investigation. however, the scope of the problem is probably greater than has been reported as a coworker also had the same problem with his 2005 gmc envoy. he has since replaced the vehicle due to additional electrical problems. my father-in-law has also replaced his 2007 chevy trailblazer that also had the same problem and cost $800 to repair. this repair should not be a voluntary 50% cost to gmc but rather a recall. *tr

Filled my tank and drove away the morning of the incident. while driving later that day my fuel gauge started going down while driving. it went to empty the low gas indicator light came on and it stayed that way for a few minutes before returning to full. this only happened 1x so far recently. i've also had problem with all the gauges going out while driving. speedometer/fuel/ electrical/tach etc. had to turn off the vehicle and restart to reset these functions in the past. 2-3x an had onstar run diagnostics. the electric stability control has also been coming on/off intermittently quite frequently at startup and at other times while driving. i've seen similar complaints on chat boards but few have take the steps to document them beyond the postings. there are many similar complaints on the web. thank you *tr

Fuel gauge working incorrectly. *tr

At 36,101 miles i went to the gas station and filled up. started the vehicle and the gas gauge read empty. i spoke with gas attendant and he said this is a common problem with trailblazers. i have had the vehicle shut off on the highway because the gauge will read half full and be empty. multi chevrolet in union nj. told me that it was a common problem and the warranty was up at 36,000 miles and it would cost 800.00 dollars. if it is common it is a defect that should be recalled. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer which was purchased on march 2007. she stated that the fuel gauge became inoperable. she added fuel to the vehicle and upon starting it, she noticed that the fuel gauge indicated empty and the low fuel warning light illuminated on the warning panel. the dealer stated the fuel sending system needed to be replaced. there were no recalls for the failure. the vehicle will be repaired. the failure mileage was 93,115 updated 02/17/10. *lj updated 02/18/10

Fuel gauge falls to empty fewer than 100 miles after filling the tank. the tank is 22 gallons and the fuel economy is 17.8 mpg. i reset the trip meter so i can fuel up within 300 miles, just to be safe. *tr

The fuel gauge quickly drops to empty after less than 1/4 of the fuel has been used. the dealer states that the fuel sender unit will need to be replaced costing $575.00. with only 43k miles on the car, it seems a little premature for this type of repair. *tr

My fuel gauge has quit working. it started out as a sporadic problem, never showing the correct fuel level. now, it has quit working completely. *tr

2007 chevrolet trailblazer ss gas gauge sensor malfunction. fuel level indicator does not function properly and will trigger the service engine light to come on and off on any given day. vehicle gives low gas indication even after filling up gas tank. if you google this problem or search auto forums, it appears thousands of people have this same issue and no one is doing anything about this. *tr

My 2007 trailblazer was purchased brand new. my gas light stays on continually and my check engine light comes on periodically. i took my truck to the dealer to find out that the cost of repair was not covered on my warranty. *ln

Fuel gauge will not rise past empty indicator. low level fuel light is stuck on. tank has a full tank of fuel. *tr

I own a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer 6 cylinder. recently the gas gauge begin to malfunction showing empty sometimes when it was not. within 2 weeks the gas gauge has quit working completely. now today the check engine light came on. the result is that i never know how much gas i have left and unless i keep filling it up every couple of days i risk running out of gas. in researching this on the internet it appears to be a faulty fuel sending unit and scores of people who own trailblazers from 2005 on are having this problem. *tr

I have only owned my "07" trailblazer for one year. purchased it from a dealer in augusta maine. two things are a problem with this vehicle already and one of which several have complained on your site about. the fuel gauge is now dropping even when full, not allowing me to know when i have enough gas or possibly someone has tapped into my tank overnight and helped themselves & the second is my passenger side tires are wearing quite rapidly. i have taken the vehicle into be looked at and discovered my ball joints need to be replaced! i was quite shocked as again, i have only had this vehicle 1 year. i am in hopes that what is written here is enough to drive chevy to a recall. i found this site through my insr. company and will alert many to check it before purchasing what they think may be a great vehicle. if i had known, i would have done so myself. *tr

On october 15, 2010 the fuel gauge on my 2007 chevy trailblazer abruptly went to empty after filling the tank for a 6 hour long trip. shortly thereafter the gauge read empty, the check engine light came on. i immediately called the dealer and took the vehicle for repair. fortunately i had the extended warranty and it was covered. the truck had approximately 31,350 miles when this occurred. ever since the repair, the fuel gauge is not giving an accurate reading. i have noticed on several occasions when the gauge could be as much as a 1/4 tank different. for example, the gauge would read 3/4 full when i park at my office. when i leave for lunch the gauge will display 1/2 full. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that after refueling, she noticed that the fuel gauge would read empty. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised her that the fuel level sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and they advised her that they would take the liability for fifty percent of the repair costs. the failure mileage was approximately 40,000. updated 11/16/11*lj the consumer stated the vehicle stalled periodically, due to low reading of fuel after filling the gas tank. updated 11/18/11

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the check engine light illuminated consistently and the fuel sending unit failed. whenever the contact filled the vehicle with gas, the fuel gauge would register an empty reading. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that there were no related recalls and the fuel sending needed to be replaced at the contact's expense. she called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000 and the current mileage was approximately 90,000.

Fuel gauge starts to drop rapidly after driving 100 miles after a fill up then the low level indicator turns on. if i shut the vehicle off and restart, the tank will go back up to half full and then drop back down to the low level indicator after 5-10 minutes. when filling up the tank it only allows me to put in no more than 13 gallons. gauge is obviously broken. my company has a fleet of 20 trailblazers and i am the 8th person to have this problem. *tr

I have a 2007 trail blazer and at 46,000 miles the fuel gauge quite working correctly. could never tell how much gas i really had in tank. now at 50,000 miles it stays on empty all the time when it has just been filled up. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge was defective and was providing inaccurate fuel level readings. the dealer diagnosed that the sensor needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 80,000. the vin was unavailable.

I have a 2007 chevy trailblazer which i just purchased in september of 2008. for the past couple of days here, i am having problems with the fuel gage fluctuating on me. i just put a full tank in 2 days ago and it is still reading past full. on occasion it will go all the way down to empty, and then back up to full and then back down again. this is all when either running or driving when this all happens. this is very irritating to me, considering this is our only vehicle right now. it seems to me that this problem is very popular in the 05-06, but now i am having problems in my 07 and i have 47,000 miles on mine. i think chevy should recall this. it's ridiculous! *tr

I own a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the fuel gauge indicator remains illuminated no matter how much fuel is in the tank. as a result, my wife and i are never fully aware of the amount of gasoline left in the fuel tank. i believe it to be a defect as so many other people online is experiencing the same issues. *tr
