Gas gauge quit working. we need a recall.
Gas gauge on my 2006 trailblazer indicates that the tank is empty, does not provide an accurate reading even when the tank is full. this is extremely unsafe because it can lead to running out of fuel at any given time. dealership indicates that the sensor is the cause and that this is a "problem" on these vehicles. *tr
Fuel pump issues on a 2006 trailblazer. *tr
Fuel sensor stop working ... even if you fill the tank, fuel gauge will read empty at all times. i have ran out of gas in the middle of the road with my grandchild in the truck. i took it to a dealer , they said they will not cover the cost . i took it again with a letter from others mechanics stating it the fuel sensor on the check engine light , however the dealership will not replace. the want to charge me 900.00. chevy needs to get this fix... *tr
I have a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer and about two weeks ago i filled my gas tank up and it did not register full. it now is very erratic. one minute it will read a level and the next few minutes it will read empty. i have read several complaints about this same problem on other 2006 trailblazers and am wondering why there has not been an investigation or a recall. i am looking at a very expensive repair that i cannot afford. this is very dangerous because i could run out of gas and cause an accident whereas someone could be maimed or killed. i have a 5 year old that i transport in this auto and if something happens because of this faulty gas gauge should general motors be held liable for not fixing a problem they know exists?? *tr
Fuel gauge stopped working after fill up and now reads empty at all times. *tr
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). 2006 chevy trailblazer ls vehicle [xxx] . fuel tank sensor failure. sensor fails to send information to fuel gauge. never know how much gas is in tank. had vehicle to chevy garage, costs $400.00 to get vehicle fixed and only guaranteed for 1 year or 12,000 miles. i have checked on line and there are hundreds of the same complaint for the same make and model vehicle. some have stated that they already had vehicle fixed once and it has happened again. the man at the chevy garage told me there have been recalls on two other models of trucks for the same problem but not the trailblazer. doesn't seem quite fair. i have 73,000 miles on my vehicle. *tr
Was reading a news article today that nhtsa is investigating fuel gauge issue on gm suv's. considering my experience, i thought nhtsa would want to know of this issue and the resolution. back in february 2010 the fuel gauge on my government issued 2006 chevy trailblazer started to act in a strange way. upon fueling up it would read full, then go to empty in a minute, then go back to 1/2 full, then back to empty and then after 20 minutes it would stay on empty for a day or so, then go back to a "normal" reading. during the time this happened, and until it was repaired at a gov authorized repair garage, i had to use approximate milage to confirm how much fuel remained. it turned out, according to the repair facility, that a pump in or at the fuel tank had to be replaced. have not had that issue since the repair. repair was done outside of warranty and cost $457 ($300 in labor, $157 for the gauge unit) to have it fixed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that after refueling, the fuel gauge provided an erroneous empty reading. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 62,500.
Fuel sensor failure. i have owned my vehicle approximately 3 years now i'm being told my fuel sensor is bad. my engine light stays on and have been told it is going to cost over 700.00 dollars to repair. i have been able to pull up 15 pages of complaints about the samething. when is someone going to do something about this problem with the 2006 chevy trailblazers. *tr
1) filled gas tank full on 2006 chevy trailblazer lt 2) began driving and gas gauge dropped to empty and warning light came on- after approx. 10-20 miles gas gauge goes back up to full - though unsure if it is accurate - this happens at every fill up 3) spoke with gm dealership - $450.00 to drop gas tank and replace fuel gauge sender/sensor - have not replaced yet due to cost - and after doing research i found that this is a very common problem with trailblazers - requesting recall. *tr
Fuel gauge in 2006 trailblazer ls fails to work properly. it fluctuates from empty to proper full level and sometimes fails to work at all. this is a common defect with gm trailblazers from 2005 on. other gm models as well ie, tahoe and uplander. i have 43,500 miles on this vehicle. *tr
Issue: the gas gauge on my 2006 trailblazer is not working properly. the fuel lights comes on and stays on even after filling the gas tank. the issue started around mid january 2010 and has gotten worst. my only comfort is knowing that i do have gas in my tank but it is very frustrating and unnerving. i have no idea if it is going to get worse. i have had a diagnostic check to confirm that this is an issue. i am in the process of trying to get it repaired but not sure of the cost or how long i may be without transportation. *tr
The fuel level sensor on 2006 chevy trailblazers acts erratically then stops working. i ran out of fuel twice, once on a busy highway at rush hour, and again after having work done at the dealer. they had to drain some fuel to do the work and didn't tell me. having calculated how much i had, i thought i was ok but i ran out of fuel on the way home at 9pm at night on a dark single lane road with the baby in the back seat. *tr
Fuel gauge registers empty at all times. low level light is always luminated low fuel warning displayed. *dt
2006 chevy trailblazer. fuel level sensor failed, gas gauge does not work. dealer wants $581 to repair. *tr
I have a 2006 trailblazer and one day i filled up my tank and my gas gauge stopped working. after a while of driving it started working again but eventually it stop completely. i have had the high input fuel sensor replace about 4 months ago and now the "new" one has stopped working. *tr
Fuel level sensor does not show correct fuel level in fuel tank. my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ls with 6 cyl. engine only has 35,000 miles on it. fuel gauge does not register the amount of gas in tank even when tank is full. this is a serious problem and could become a deadly situation if someone ran out of gas on the highway. gm needs to correct this problem asap. i have found over 200 complaints about this exact same problem with trailblazers, yukons, and various other gm vehicles. please visit this web site to see for yourself. gm needs to correct this problem before someone gets seriously hurt or is killed. http://www.topix.com/alerts/forum/autos/chevrolet-trailblazer/th8ji6tepo3vrji3d. *tr
The gas gauge on my 06 trailblazer stays at empty even after filling up. started at about 35k miles. seems to be a very common problem with trailblazers. *tr
2006 trailblazer's fuel sensor died. therefore it is no longer possible to tell how much gas is in your tank unless you use your trip meter. i have read that many people have had this same problem yet the manufacturer has not yet issued a recall. i have been told that this repair will cost a minimum of $800 and i would rather not have to pay it if it is the fault of the manufacturer. *tr
I was running low on gas so i pulled over to a gas station. filled up, started to pull away, saw that my fuel gauge was still reading empty. gauge slowly started to read full as i was driving. problem persisted next time i filled up. the problem eventually got worse and the fuel gauge stopped working till i had to have the dealer fix it. *tr
I have an 06 chevy trailblazer and after some research on the internet i have found that the problem i am having with the sending units on my fuel pump is a rather common problem. gm is well aware of this issue but seems to not care and only wants to collect the money for these replacement fuel pumps. i would like to see gm recall this and fix the problem for this, it is not just the trailblazer but the envoys and rainers. seems to be a bigger issue with the trailblazers. makes one wonder how many of these trucks have had this problem and not posted it on line and paid the 800 plus to fix it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the fuel lever sensor at a cost of $247. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 83,310 and the current mileage was 99,100. updated 6/8/11 *cn updated 06/16/11
The fuel gauge continues to fluctuate and stay on empty, causing me to run out of gas on the interstate. a policeman pulled up behind me and told me to report the problem. its a safety hazard, had the policeman not been polite enough to sit behind me with his lights on, i would've been rearended. *tr
2006 chevy trailblazer with 40k miles. fuel gauge defect. gauge reads empty when it is full and causes the emissions light to engage. online research shows a trend of the same problem with other 2006 trailblazers. dealership acknowledged a consistent issue, but no recall has been issued. cost is $700 to replace sensor. *tr
The gas gauge on my trail blazer stopped working and always shows empty. *kb
I have a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. every time i fill up with gas, the gas gauge fluctuates goes up and down and the gas light and check engine light is staying on. i have searched the internet and there are hundreds and hundreds of people with this same problem. my trailblazer has about 85,000 miles and i has been having this problem for about 2 weeks. gm needs to fix these fuel gauges and do a recall on it soon... what are they waiting on deaths or injuries.. *tr
Fuel gauge does not display amount of fuel in tank. even when filling the tank with fuel, the gauge remains on empty. *tr
Defective fuel gauge sending unit failing nationwide. fuel gauge reading inaccurate leading to pre-mature engine failure and leaving the driver possibly unable to steer and stop the vehicle safely. *tr
(1) stability control was engaged while car was in motion and it was not necessary to stabilize the vehicle (suv). steering wheel position sensor replaced. (2) fuel tank always read empty. fuel tank removed and replaced fuel sensors. *tr
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer ls and i started having problems with the fuel gauge shortly after i bought it (used). not knowing what kind of mileage i can get i must guess when to get fuel. i have run out of gas a few times since this has started and i worry about running out while on a highway and losing control due to not having power. from the searches i have done this is a very common problem with the trailblazer. *tr
The fuel light stays on empty even when the car is full. you can never know how much gas is in the car. the check engine light comes on. it goes off when the car is full for about one day, then comes back on again until you fill the car up again. there is a problem with the sensor and it costs approximately $800 to have it repaired. this is a problem in chevy trailblazers as everyone that i have spoken with that has a trailblazer has this problem. i even know a couple that has a 1999 trailblazer with the same problem. the dealer refuses to fix the problem because there has not been a recall.
Gas gauge on my 2006 trailblazer indicates that the tank is empty, does not provide an accurate reading even when the tank is full. this is extremely unsafe because it can lead to running out of fuel at any given time. i think something needs to be done about this b/c alot of people is having the same problem. *tr
Fuel gauge stopped working. shows empty always, low fuel light stays on, and low fuel bell rings at random. chevy is aware of the issue, as i just received a letter where they offered to pay for half the repair. i feel they should pay for all of it, since it is their faulty design causing the issue. and they are limiting repairs to up to 120k miles. although my vehicle qualifies, i feel they should fix it regardless of mileage at 100 percent! *tr
Fuel sensor quit working around 40,000 miles and now the 4wd is no longer working at 43,000. i can't afford $3,000 in repairs and after looking at thousands of similar complaints nhtsa needs to demand recalls as these malfunctions are serious and can result in bodily injury or death. *tr
2006 chevy trailblazer fuel gauge keeps bouncing back and forth and showing empty even after fill ups. from what i read it is a very common problem with these vehicles and deserves a recall . *cn
The fuel gauge on my 2006 chevy trailblazer marks empty regardless of just being filled up. i did a lot of research online and have found that this seems to be a common problem for many people with the 05 & 06 trailblazer around the 40,000 mile mark. *tr
My gas gauge was moving from full to 3/4 full back to full and all over the gauge. eventually it has stayed at empty with the light on. i have to gage my gas filling with the odometer. *tr
2006 chevy trailblazer fuel gauge was near empty with the warning light on. went to fill it up and after starting the car, the fuel gauge would stay pinned to empty and the light stayed on. vehicle has around 52k miles on it. *tr
Stalled on the road due to faulty gas gauge. gauge has not worked since. gauge changes position erratically, causing my engine light now to be on. *tr
Trailblazer ls 2006 fuel sending unit defective fill car with gas, but meter reads empty and warning light comes on even though gas tank is full. *tr
I have 06 chevrolet trailblazer in which the fuel sending unit/fuel level sensor is bad which cause the fuel gauge to read empty all the time, also the check engine light to stay on, which has caused me to fail emissions so now i have to get it repaired which is going to cost about $600.00 and since my car is out of warranty this will have to come out of my pocket.this is money that i don't have. if you'll read all the blogs online you'll find hundreds if not thousands of the same thing happening . chevy should be made to fix this problem!!! my car only has 50,000 miles on it there should be no major problems with it or so you would think . i think next time i'll buy a foreign car!!! *tr
Fuel level sensor (known gm problem since 1984 maybe farther) fuel level sensor sporadic at 45k miles and finally quit at 73k miles 2006 chevy trailblazer will not pass inspection due to check engine light for evap code. *tr
Fuel gauge doesn't work after fill up, car can run out of gas leaving people in peril. *tr
I drive a 2006 chevy trailblazer. after refueling the truck, i noticed the gas cap did not lock properly and the fuel gauge started to jump from empty to full. the check engine light also came on. i immediately replaced the fuel cap but the fuel gauge continued to read inaccurately over the next several weeks. shortly thereafter, the gauge always reads empty even with a full tank of gas. a chevy mechanic told me the problem was a faulty fuel gauge sending unit in the gas tank. he said the repairs would cost ~$1,000. i cannot afford the repairs and it is a safety hazard to be continuously checking the mileage odometer to assure i don't not run out of gas. my boss has a gmc envoy with the exact same problem. i quick search on the internet reveals several hundred if not thousands of complaints about the same issue. i have almost run out of gas while driving. this faulty gas gauge is a serious safety problem that gm should take ownership for and not require car owners to repair.*tr
2006 chevy trailblazer's fuel gauge failed at 40,000 miles. shows empty all the time. there is no way to know how much fuel is left in the vehicle. the vehicle may run out of fuel without warning, stranding the driver and other occupants. repair was quoted at over $500.00. i have not repaired, i was advised the replacement part would fail within a few months. was told the system was defective and the manufacturer is aware of the defect but will not address the problem. *tr
Fuel gauge not working. problem occurred at approximately 59k miles. ran out of gas in middle of highway and was nearly rear ended by vehicles traveling over 65 mph. based on complaints listed across the internet, it is a common problem with this vehicle. dealership says "not much we can do except replace fuel system - still won't fix problem as it will likely occur again." also told me "good luck with getting recall particularly since us auto struggles = no bad press for us automakers." he then pointed me to this site and told me to notice that nothing has been done on the investigation front since january 2010 despite the problem being reported since basically may 2007. interesting...but i have faith that this is not the case and that this issue will be addressed. anyway, there is more than enough info available on this site and across the internet on the problems with the fuel system on these vehicles. it is only a matter of time when someone is going to get seriously injured when they run out of gas and cause an accident. lets hope that we do not get to that point, but given the history, we likely will. *tr
At about 45k miles my 2006 chevy trailblazer gas gauge has started to malfunction. i have read up on this issue and it seems to be a very common problem with gm suvs and trucks. the cost of fixing this is usually between $600-$1200 dollars. how can gm sit around and let thousands of customers go through this (all happening around 50k miles) without doing a recall? *tr
2006 chevy trailblazer was reporting an empty gas tank after filling up and when i drove a few miles it would go up to full then back down to empty. gas light and engine light keeps going on. now the gas light is always on and engine light has also been on for a day or two. chevy told me it is not covered under my bumper to bumper warranty they sold me. *tr
Fuel pump registers empty all the time, intermittent check engine light (especially just after refueling). auto will not pass emission inspection due to check engine light. started just after warranty ran out. bought the car with 16000 miles on it in 2006. have recently run out of gas very suddenly, causing a dangerous situation in a high traffic intersection. gauging gas by mileage is very inaccurate due to heat fluctuation, air conditioning use, etc. no recall? 1000's of complaints on the internet. *tr
