Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving approximately 45 mph, the speedometer failed. the contact stated the speedometer showed he was driving 100 mph when he was driving approximately 45-55 mph. the vehicle was not seen by the dealer or a local mechanic. the failure and current mileage was 106,000.

The gas gauge stopped working first followed buy the speedometer and then engine light goes off and on. i complained to gm was told this is natural wear and tear on the vehicle. i now have 110,000 miles on it but started soon after extended warranty ran out at 65,000 miles. i will have to continue driving with these defects don't have $550-$600 for each item. this is a safety hazard and something should be done about it. *tr

My 2005 chevy trailblazer speedometer stopped working. this started as an intermittent problem and has progressively gotten worse. there seems to be no correlation between outside temps and when it works. when it does work it displays inaccurate speeds. this seems to be a consistent problem in 2005 trailblazers based a an internet search for the same problem. *tr

Speedometer stops working in cold weather. *tr

2005 chevy trailblazer speedometer malfunctions, jerks all over the place and does not display an accurate speed. seems to not reset to zero mph when stopped so it just keeps increasing. *tr

Speedometer failure in 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. speedometer works erratically. vehicle has almost 90,000 miles. problem began around september 28, 2010, and has become more frequent, occurring daily now. speedometer will gradually show a decrees in speed when vehicle is not decelerating, eventually displaying zero or below zero mph. this is a major safety concern and should be resolved by chevrolet. *tr

Over the past year i have a variety electrical problems with my blazer. the gas gauge has stopped working, indicating that it is low on fuel or empty and my speedometer is no longer functioning. i have had to push all the way on the gas pedal at times to get the car to go. very dangerous especially when merging onto highways/freeways. i will never buy another chevy again! *tr

Speedometer freezes and won't move at all or it goes up to 120 mph. this is really dangerous when driving especially on the highway! *tr

My gas gauge always reads empty even when the car is full. engine light always goes on and off between a matter of days. recently my heat went out in my car we changed the resistor and found out one of the prongs were burnt out. a week later the heat went out again. looked at the resistor and the same prong was burnt out!! i'm getting really fed up with this vehicle! *kb

The speedometer gauge on my 2005 chevy trailblazer started acting up a month ago. the first problem i noticed was that the needle of the speedometer had fallen beyond the 0 mph mark and never changed while i was driving. the next time i drove it started working correctly again. the following week, as my husband was driving, it read that his speed was 60 mph when he was only going 30 mph. the very next day i drove it and the speedometer worked fine. then again, a week later it malfunctioned while i was driving on the freeway! it completely freaked me out! i tried to stay with the flow of traffic but had no idea how fast i was really going. i immediately called my chevy dealership's service department and asked about the problem. she informed me that i was no longer covered by a warranty (my car only has 58,000 miles on it) and that gm has issued recalls on the gauge cluster for the 2003 and 2004 trailblazers but not the 2005. she then told me that it would cost $450 to $500 to fix the problem but that gm would 'most likely' reimburse me if/when they issue a recall. the speedometer is currently misreading about once a week. so i never know when i get in my car if it is going to work correctly or not. i did some research online and found that this a very common problem for owners of the 2005 trailblazer. i am concerned that this is a major safety issue so i contacted gm directly and spoke to a service representative on the phone this morning. she told me that she was sorry about the problem but gm has no recall for this so i should go get it fixed on my own dime to avoid any further problems. i feel that this is an issue that gm should take responsibility for and send out a recall to insure that this faulty gauge cluster doesn't end up getting someone killed. *tr

Own a 2005 chevy trailblazer and speedo stops working at times and this has been on going since 6 months ago and now oil gauge and fuel gauge are not reading right. and they read wrong all the time now. haven't paid anyone to repair problem yet except paying someone to manual check oil pressure and engine has good oil pressure but gauge reads 0. *tr

Fuel guage quit working. *tt

Myself and my daughter was visiting my parents in virginia and i turned the steering wheel to the right to go around a curve and the steering wheel didn't turn. i looked ay my daughter and said "oh _ _ _ _" and she ask me what 's wrong? i said the steering didn't turn and it wasn't but seconds later, we slammed into the side of the mountain on the driver side and we rolled two or three times and ended up on the roof. i immediately went unconscious because of the impact. i had a big gash on my head and was bleeding profusely and i was having trouble breathing because both of my lungs were punctured. all the windows burst out so my daughter was able to crawl out the passenger window to ask someone for help but my seat belt would not unbuckle so there was an issue getting me out. i was very lucky that someone that stopped had a pocket knife and cut the seatbelt to get me out. i had a bad concussion and i kept going in and out . i had three broken ribs, three pelvic fractures, a bad contusion on my elbow and i still have a swollen knot about two and a half inches on my left leg. i also have issues with my back and i am in constant pain and on impact, my seat belt jerked and caught my breast and i now have five cyst with the largest one being one inch and they are very painful. i have to watch it very closely because of a cancer risk called inflammation cancer. i was hospitalized for three days and i have to continue receiving medical care because of these injuries. my daughter is young and now she has back problems and ptsd and she also continues to receive medical care . this has really impacted and changed my life and my daughters life and i would really appreciate it if you would take the time to investigate these issues. we are going to have life long injuries and issues because of this accident. thank you very much. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while attempting to use the air conditioner the contact noticed a burning smell coming from inside the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the resistor and connector was replaced. there were no prior warnings. the failure mileage was 50000 and the current mileage was 53000.

Gas gauge and speedometer on chevy trailblaizer 2005. no correct reading. *tr

I own a 2005 chevy trailblazer, recently my speedometer started acting crazy, now it either works or it doesn't,sometimes it says your at 0 or sometimes it says your going 120 mph, sometimes it sticks on 70 mph!!! i feel this should be a very important recall. *tr

05 chevy trailblazer speedometer cluster is defective...rpm continues to malfunction along with speedometer breakage. *tr

Fuel gauge is not indicating fuel level. gauge incorrectly displays as empty or almost empty when fuel tank is full or partially full. *tr

Speedometer malfunction. *tr

Own 2005 trailblazer. at 60,555 miles speedometer stops working and now registers over 120 mph. had extended warranty that expired at 60,000 and was told that since the warranty was 555 miles out of coverage, it would cost me $500.00 to fix. lights on instrument panel out as well. please review need to recall as this seems to be a major issue that others are also experiencing. *tr

The speedometer completely stopped working and now the oil gauge is also not working. this is dangerous for me and my children since i do not know how fast or slow i am driving. it will cost around $500 to fix this problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that all of the gauges on the instrument panel malfunctioned. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 149,000.

Speedometer, oil pressure gauge and volt meter stick, drop to lowest point or surge to highest point. speedometer will stick at one speed or stick and then only move up from that point. i have no idea what speed i'm traveling when this happens. it happens most often when it rains and will remain inaccurate for a several days. not knowing how fast you are going is dangerous. *tr

Fuel sending unit failing. multiple complaints posted online concerning the repeated failure of the fuel sending unit. gauge needle moves up and down and primarily registers empty. *tr

I own a 2005 trailblazer that i am having a problem with the speedometer that at certain times will either stop working or read incorrectly (either over or under) the speed of what the truck is actually doing. my wife drives this vehicle and i'm concerned about her driving it and gm is saying that it will cost around 500 or more to repair, but yet they have a recall for the 03-04 but not the 05 or newer, why? what can be done to get this situation repaired since they definitely have a faulty product?? *tr

I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer (77,000) miles. the speedometer and tac has gone haywire. we had a very warm day and when i started the car the pointer was at 6:00 o clock when i stop it shows that the car is going 110 miles per hour. my tac is also going wacko. i have been reading that may others with trailblazers have the same problem. i called gm and they told me they did have a recall on the instrument cluster with other vehicles but not the chevy trailblazer. they gave me a case number[xxx] . the approx cost for repair is $550.00. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

We purchased a 2005 chevy trailblazer ls and about a two months ago the speedometer will begin to stop working properly. after 40 mins of driving the gauge fails and will stay around 20 or be below 0 mph even on the highway. i contacted a local dealer who said there was no recall for this model and it would cost me over 500 dollars to repair. i don't have that kind of money. i'm very disappointed in this vehicle as i have heard hundreds of other complaints of the same for this model, and other gmc models. is anyone going to stand for us, this is obviously a faulty vehicle. please help. *tr

After starting my vehicle sometimes the rpm gauge will not move, like the vehicle has not started, this has caused me to turn the key again causing my starter to make an awful sound, since the car was already running, rpm gauge however was not functioning. my speedometer will start out at 0 like normal but then will stick and go back down to 0 which doesn't allow me to see the speed i am going, at times it will stick around 40 mph. the fuel gauge does not work it always says i am empty. which brings me to my final point, my odometer has started sticking, i gauge my gas mileage by my odometer, this could be a serious problem since the odometer is sticking, i could be thinking i have enough gas when in reality i do not, this could cause me to run out of gas, not to my own error but due to the malfunctioning gauges, which could cause me to stall and be rear ended. i travel on the interstate almost everyday and i am seriously concerned for my safety and the safety of other drivers. *tr

2005 chevrolet trailblazer. instrument cluster has intermittent failure of speedometer and tachometer. has been happening for several years, gm wants $600 to replace cluster. instrument cluster has been recalled on every other gm vehicle that uses this cluster. *tr

Cluster panel gone bad. speedometer was showing 21 mph while i was stopped. took to dealership diagnosed with the cluster panel being bad. gm has had other recalls for similar part and this should be no exception. 2005 chevy trailblazer 59,000 miles. *tr

About a year ago my speedometer would randomly show a loss or gain of speed. about 8 months ago it quit working all together. it does not register in the numbers. during the same time i ran out of gas twice when my gage had registered fuel and the low fuel light was not registered. it has since quit working all together. i recently called to ask how much an instrument cluster would be to replace and was given a total of about $600.00 this is a very disheartening situation. i have read all other complaints on line and they say the same thing. i believe that this is a very serious issue and am extremely disappointed that it hasn't been resolved by the company. *tr

While driving the, window switch began to smoke so i physically removed the switch and have since not had power window access on the passenger side front door. the cost to replace was too great and at the bottom of the priority list. more recently, maybe 2 months ago, the driver side switch showed signs of the same results after a smell of burning electronics and heat to the touch so i simply unplugged the switch all together. the cost to replace these switches is quite significant and have not had any luck with chevrolet in the past with complaints so i figured i would wait until i had a little extra money to replace these switches. on the news today i heard the end of a report and only caught the words gm and window switches so i came home and searched and came across so articles involving 2006 models. that is how i came across this website. i would very much hate to find out that the company does not know the problem exists further than 2006. an unrelated problem i encountered with the vehicle, which was quite unnerving, was that the third brake light assembly came off while driving on a local highway at @ 65 mph approximately 2 years ago. the fixture became un attached from the passenger side and was "flapping" off the driver's side. only for a matter of time, i'm sure. luckily our family was being followed by another family and they notified us by cell phone and we were able to remove the fixture without incident on the shoulder. it would have caused serious problems without doubt had it come completely off. when we notified the dealership, they told us we were out of our warranty and were on our own. thank you for taking the time to try to make our highways safer! *tr

Since june 2010, the fuel level gauge on my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer has not functioned properly. regardless of the actual fuel level, it reads at 1/4 tank or below, which causes me to rely on my trip odometer to estimate my current fuel levels. i have checked with the chevrolet dealerships, and they are charging between $500 - $800 to correct this problem! as the previous owner of two gm vehicles and the daughter and granddaughter of general motors retirees', i am sorely disappointed in general motors refusal to admit the failure of the fuel gauge system that has affected thousands of vehicles.

My 2005 chevy trailblazer is at the dealership at this moment due to malfunction in the instrument cluster panel. first my gas gauge went out 3 months ago and now my speedometer is broken - shows i am going 60 when i am at a stop or it may go down to 30 at times. it will cost $500 for the cluster and $550 for the fuel sensor. i called gm to see if they will pay for repairs but have not heard a response yet. *tr

I have a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer that has a dashboard cluster failure. my speedometer and gas gauges do not work. i have no idea how fast i am going and how much gas i have left in my tank. this has been going on now for over a month. there are thousands of complaints on the internet from angry owners describing speeding tickets, running out of gas, odometer failing, dashboard lights dimming and warning lights appearing. gm is failing to take ownership of this defect and dealerships are charging $550 to $650 for repairs. *tr

Fuel gauge not working.

Speedometer on the 2005 trailblazer. it went crazy on me at about 60,000 miles and after taking it to the dealership, they informed me there was a recall on the chevrolet trucks with that problem, but not the suv's, even though the equipment was the same. the cost to me is $500+ which as a retired person on low income i cannot afford. i have received 2 tickets for going over the speed limit....even though i am extremely careful and try to drive with the flow of traffic. i am furious....chevrolet should recall this and pay to have the problem fixed...it is a defect as i have seen numerous complaints about this with the chevrolet trailblazer. *tr

Fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, and speedometer completely stopped working. i also had to replace the ac/heater system because of the wiring harness. i had to fix things twice for a cost of over $600 in 8 months! gmc really needs to recall these things because so many vehicles have had problems. every complaint on here is the same! recall it now! it is not our fault... it's yours so fix it! *tr

Vehicle started by failure of the fuel gauge. it shows empty even though i have just filled up with gas. this occurs every time i fill up. then the oil light has gone haywire, and fails to reset itself, it points down to the bottom of the gauge. now my speedometer will without warning stop working and freeze on a certain number, then go down to below zero and not work at all. this has caused me to not know how fast i was going at times. after turning off the vehicle it resets itself, but then happens again the next time. i have taken the vehicle to the shop several times and have been told that it is the instrument panel. i have read several complaints all over the internet and from friends who have the same vehicle. this is not something that is unique to my car. this is a serious problem and can cause accidents and people stranded if it is not fixed, or if gm does not look into this issue. *tr

I was driving my 2005 chevy trailblazer last evening 4/08/2010 in town and my speedometer starting speeding up without me accelerating. at rest the speedometer shows 45 mph. the speedometer has gone up to 90mph when i'm traveling at about 40 mph. the speedometer seems to increase even if i am at a steady traveling speed. *tr

Going down the interstate in my 2005 chevy trailblazer and the speedometer said i was traveling 95 mph and people were passing me like i was sitting still. took it to the dealer and there was a recall on the speedometer/ cluster on every vehicle with the same speedometer except the trailblazer. now i'm finding many others with the same problem. gm says they will try to get a reduced fee to get it fixed - not good enough, they should fix it for nothing as it is a safety concern. *tr

My 2005 chevy trailblazer's gauges/panel is not working at all. it reads that the truck is running hot, that i'm going way over the speed limit (when the truck is actually parked), and that i have no gas (after i fill it up). my oil gauge it also out of whack. please help. *tr

I reached 55,000 miles on my 2005 chevy trailblaizer. now, my speedometer is not working properly. it sticks and sometimes it does not even move off the 0mph. better yet, my head lights are randomly turning off. this occurs at least one a day. i can not understand how chevy can tell me this is not a safety issue. unfortunately, i do not live in a place that hast day light 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and am forced to drive during the night hours. if my lights are out and an accident is caused, i will be held responsible for this. i'm sure i will eventuallyg et pulled over by the police, it's just i have been lucky so far. what do i explain to the officer, "sorry my lights are out and no, i do not know how fast i was going?" this is a joke! there are thousands of complaints posted all over the internet , yet chevy will not admit to this "cluster" issue being related to safety? so when i get tickets from the police, fail my massachusetts state inspection and maybe cause an accident, do i forward all bills to chevy? and if a life is lost, how are they going to relace that? why can't they just recall this issue before this happens, if it hasn't already happened yet? *tr

2005 chevrolet trailblazer ls. instrument cluster failure. my speedometer is not working. my cruise control was intermittent for a while, but now no longer functions (fuse is fine).

2005 chevy trailblazer - speedometer has stopped working. speedometer reads 100 mph when sitting still. very dangerous since you never know how fast you are going. i've read about this same complaint and gm should issue a recall immediately before a serious accident happens. *tr

Speedometer jumped one day from 65 to 160. almost is constantly pointing near the odometer. speedometer pin still moves but is completely inaccurate. dealer wants over $500 to fix it. it happened in a friends 2005 chevy silverado duramax diesel 3500 and it was a recall and was fixed. it also happened in a friends 2005 chevy impala and was not fixed. it is clearly and issue in all the 2005 models not just the trailblazers. *tr

The instrument cluster on a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer has ceased to work correctly. the speedometer no longer works at all and the oil pressure gage has failed as well. there was no obvious cause for the failure and the problem is continuous, not intermittent. the dealer has said that correction is by replacement of the whole instrument cluster unit. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. after starting the vehicle the contact noticed that the speedometer had suddenly risen to 50 mph while the vehicle was still in park. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the instrument panel needed to be replaced. there were no prior warnings. the failure mileage was 63000 and the current mileage was 69000.

Burning smell coming from the a/c. speed 4 and 5 both quit and now the whole thing has stopped working. this will be the third time is has been replaced and the dealer i take it to tell me this is a common problem on 2005 chevy trailblazers. blower motor resistor is burnt out and the harness (which would cost about $200). they said that this was another common problem for this car model. *tr

The fuel gauge went out in my vehicle. my speedometer is doing the same thing and my oil gauge. how is that not a safety recall! called they said there was no recall. received a notice that they would pay half of repair for the fuel gauge. after warranty was up. *tr
