We have a 2003 chevy trailblazer ltz. the instrument cluster is going all crazy. the speedometer is not working. i see this has been an issue on a lot of the vehicles. we ahve two children and hate driving a vehicle that we don't know how fast we are going. it would only happen once a month at first and now it is every time we drive it. we took it to the dealship and were told that we would have to purchase a new one. *tr

2003 chevy trailblazer - fan clutch - having to replace fan clutch after replacing less than 2 yrs ago. *tr

2nd time replacing clutch fan "68,000 miles" check engine light comes on. loud noise from engine. eventually goes into reduced power mode "max 10mph". my check engine light is on again and it is making that loud whirring noise again. i am expecting a third failure soon. this should be recalled. *tr

Spare tire carrier not operational. inability to change flat tire unsafe and costly (of course, to the owner). general motors poorly re-designed spare tire winch includes plastic housing for cable that deteriorates in the severe service area of a motor vehicle. previous designs did not involve the use of plastics in the external mechanisms. mine failed leaving me with a flat tire and a perfectly good spare that i was unable to lower from the rear undercarriage of the vehicle. makes no sense to replace the winch with another of the same design leaving most people no option to either not carry a spare or carry inside the vehicle either unsafely anchored or not anchored at all becoming a projectile in the event of an accident. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. the air conditioning and heating system would not cool or heat properly. in addition, the radio began shorting out and the blower motor stopped working. the dealer stated that the repairs would be the contact's responsibility because the vehicle was no longer under warranty. he has been to the dealer at least four times and neither the radio nor the vents have worked properly. the failures began within the first year of owning the vehicle. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 37,200.

My truck has been driving average, with prior issues of the truck sounding like it is struggling to accelerate. this weekend, it began sounding like it is struggling to accelerate. because of this, i had to drive below the speed limit for over 50 miles for fear of my truck blowing up. after taking my truck to the dealership, the problem is the fan clutch. after going online, i observed that there are thousands of people who have had the same issue with trailblazers from 2002-2007. but to no avail, i cannot find any recalls from chevrolet about their many faulty parts. i am supposed to pay $900 to repair something that should be recalled from chevy? where is the justice? i am a family member of 3 generations of gm employees, and i am truly disappointed in chevrolet. *jb

I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer that i have been having problems with the a/c since the date of purchase. i have taken the vehicle back to the dealer and the continually advise me nothing is wrong with the a/c. the a/c blows hot all the time, for that matter the blower vents omit hot air continually. i have made every effort to have the problem fixed without any assistance. this seems to be an ongoing problem with the 2003 model. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving approximately 5 mph the vehicle began making a loud noise. the contact pulled over and noticed that the rear driver's side tire was flat. while attempting to remove the spare tire the hoist failed to crank to release the spare tire. the serial number for the crank was not visible. the mechanic stated that the wires for the hoist were crossed. the current and failure mileages were 48,000.*ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 25 mph, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge was not registering the correct amount of fuel. occasionally, the gauge would indicate that no fuel was present in the vehicle at all. the vehicle was not inspected and no repairs were made at that time. one year later, the temperature gauge, actuator on the air conditioning/heating system, and the speedometer failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they confirmed that the actuator failed. the vehicle was repaired at the cost of $720. the manufacturer stated that no compensation would be provided because the failure was not under recall. the failure mileage was 30,000 and current mileage was 44,000. updated 4/23/09 *cn updated 04/28/09. *jb

Dt: the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact has a six month infant that is in a rear-facing child seat at the driver side rear. the air condition will not reach him. she tried other places in the vehicle but none seemed to help. when it is really hot outside child cannot get cooled off because air conditioner will not work. *ak

I have had the exact problems as stated in 10047425. windshield wipers went out completely on a rainy day, module replaced, a/c broke on a hot day-fixed, power steering assist stopped working completely making driving the vehicle nearly impossible, vehicle started on reserve power when temp hit -6 degrees, heater motor stopped working completely the next day -10 degrees. basically this vehicle doesn't like changes in weather. *ak

Consumer took vehicle to repair shop because of the following problems; rack and pinion failed twice/air conditioner malfunctioned twice/vehicle stalled at take off/ oil leak, and brake lights failed to operate properly. also, vehicle made a loud noise on driver's side while driving. *ak

Our windshield wipers were inoperable. the wiper switch was turned on with absolutely no response from the wipers. the dealership has replaced it. however, other electrical problems keep occurring. for example, our air conditioning switch malfunctioned, the onstar did not send tracking information properly, the alternator needed to be replaced, and the fan for the heater would not work at any speed except low. we have only had this vehicle since august. i am thinking that this in an electrical problem instead of each individual piece being faulty. please let us know if you are hearing more of the same types of information. *la

Owned 03 trailblazer for 4 months and has given me electrical & mechanical problems. i had one problem since i first bought this vehicle and now i have 13 things that are a danger to me and my family. ac turns on by itself whether car is off or on. ac has turned on while i was driving frightening the hell out of me causing me to almost lose control of the wheel. ac ,engine lacks horse power, hand brake, hazard lights, lights turn off, mirrors move by themselves, car boggs as if it wants to turn off, while driving steering wheel moves by itself, gas gauge has read low fuel when gas is full. i am terrified the car will give out with my child and i in it.i have tried to have vehicle repaired numerous times and still dealer can't seem to duplicate the problem. the vehicle is a hazard to me and my family and to all those who own one. need the problem to be fixed before any tragedies occur. *ak

If the vehicle is turned on, when you turn on the a/c, the a/c pump will not turn on. you either have to turn the a/c knob on/off a few times to get it to go, or open the front hood, and tap on the a/c pump with your hand to get it to start. this happens at any point in driving or while in park. the a/c will not blow cold air unless you do as i have stated above.*ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that upon entering the vehicle she smelled a foul odor which she described as mildew. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who installed a delayed blower. approximately 2 years later the odor returned and the battery began to drain rapidly due to the delayed blower which continued to function when the vehicle was turned off. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where a module within the delayed blower was replaced twice. the contact stated that a few months later, the blower stopped working. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to replace the module inside of the blower. approximately 2 years later the contact stated that the wiring within the delayed blower burned out and it was replaced. the failure had become progressively worse over time. the failure mileage was 5,457 and the current mileage was 140,000.

I have owned my 2003 chevy trailblazer for just over four months now. i have had it serviced for a broken driver's side seatbelt three times, including today. when i took it in today, i'd only been driving it for about a week since the last seatbelt was replaced. each time i take it in, they just replace the seatbelt, and they don't even investigate to see if there's a deeper problem. it's frustrating to have this many problems with a brand-new vehicle.*ak

8 times to dlr with same problem, this time worse. times prior were torque converter fault codes, also not allowing cruise to engage. high rpm's and will not shift into overdrive. lunging on first and second gear when accelerating from a stop. dealer just replaced transmission (21,000 miles) and now won't shift at all. purchased 6 months ago. 2003 chevy trailblazer ext 4x4. *la

Eliectrical failures. rear passenger window would not go up, replacement of right rear taillight and fuse twice in three months and left taillight and fuse during that time. front bumper facing comes unglued,i understand it is velcroed on.*ak

2003 chevrolet trailblazer plagued with defects. (nar) *ph transmission, air conditioner, suspension, and rear windshield not working properly. *cb

Vehicle's dash gauges came on and speedometer started fluctuating after 35 miles driving and vehicle stalled out, not being able to restart. computer was replaced by dealer. problem arose again about a week later. gm had dealer replace another part in i believe the ignition key area. check engine light came on again in a couple weeks and vehicle would not start for dealer after it was driven there. dealer found wire connection in wiring harness to computer was not making continuous contact at a connection. also dealer had to replace a switch when the a/c would work intermittently. luckily i have a good efficient dealer and service department who cares about their customers. *jb

My 2003 chevy trailblazer has been taken to dealership 2x for a problem with the air conditioner. both times the dealer stated there is nothing wrong with the truck. my air conditioner does not work! to add to the problems there is no cold or even cool air from the vent position. the air is very hot! *jb

My 11-month old 2003 chevrolet trailblazer has had multiple quality problems, twice affecting my safety. most of the problems have been electrical in nature. the 4wd has become inoperable numerous times, once while driving in snow. in another incident during a severe thunderstorm at night the air conditioner (a/c) failed and i was unable to defrost my windshield in order to see. after one dealer failed to diagnose the 4wd problem, another dealer replaced my ignition switch because the technician said i had no power at all going to the "rear grid." i continue to have intermittent electrical problems, including near stalling at a traffic light, and ongoing 4wd failures. the car also has very jerky motion when in 4wd reverse, of course, when the 4wd is working at all. the dealer told me that was normal and now i see there is a service bulletin on the problem. *la

Transmission locks up, 4 wd lights move on its own, this has happened 4 times since i have owned this car, i requested that i do not want this car back, but they insist they fixed the problem, now with my children 2 and 16 years in the car the 4wd light was malfunctioning and the car locked up and we skid down the street. i donot want this car back, i feel it will kill one or all of us with this lock up of transmission and the car won't move thank god it has not happened on the freway i feel we would be dead. the cars a lemo0n and i am not waiting for it to harm my familly.

Consumer was stopped by a police officer, who informed consumer that the tail lights were out. vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that tail lights needed to be replaced. also, vehicle stalled while driving at any speed. *ak the vehicle would hesitate and skip upon acceleration, at stop signs. traffic lights and while parking on inclines. multiple components were replaced to correct the problem but they recurred. the radio became extremely hot while driving on long trips. the radio was replaced but the problem continued. the a/c unit failed intermittently because of a faulty a/c switch. the consumer mentioned fuel system problems. *nm
