Tl* the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 30 mph, the headlights failed and turned off independently. when the contact exited the vehicle, the locks independently engaged and locked the contact out. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for that incident. later, the electrical components on the front driver's side door, including the side view mirror, power window, and power lock switches, failed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver's door master power window switch module failed and needed to be replaced. the dealer rebooted the module as a temporary repair, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer and pay for the repairs. the approximate failure mileage was 195,000. the vin was unavailable.

The wipers shut off by themselves, or won't turn on, and sometimes they turn on by themselves while driving. this is an ongoing issue with these vehicles. *tr

Pretty said to know that chevrolet makes all this makes all this money and wont reopen their recalls when they didn't replace parts on vehicles to begin with maybe next time should have went foreign instead of american for all these years. *tr

I feel that even if you have had a recall issue once and the situation continues to happen then it needs to be fixed until the problem is solved i have contact gm several time and nothing has been done to ratify my problem with the windshield wipers and the 4 wheel drive and several other recall issues this is sad i say we need a class action law suit i am not one to take legal action but for people that have this kind of money and to not fix their problem that they put out on the roads for us to drive safely is shameful. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. while starting the vehicle, both front windshield wipers engaged independently. the contact stated that the wipers would not turn off as windshield wiper fluid sprayed over the window, obstructing the contacts view of the roadway. the failure occurred sporadically and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact inquired about nhtsa campaign id number: 04v046000 (visibility: windshield wiper/washer). the dealer had no information in regards to the recall and the vehicle was taken to a second dealer where she was advised that the recall was closed. she contacted the manufacturer and they advised her that they would get back with her. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 70,500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the sun roof did not close completely. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per a technical service bulletin regarding the sun roof in october of 2010 by an independent mechanic. the manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. the failure mileage was 130,394.

2002 chevy trailblazer exterior mirrors will not hold their adjustment settings. the local dealer has worked on this problem numerous times and can't seem to find or fix the problem. the exterior mirrors will usually end up pointing down as i drive the vehicle. i believe that this can be a safety problem as they readjust them selves in traffic. can you help the owners of this particular model? *tr

Windshield wipers (equipped w/rainsense automatic moisture sensitive wipers) operate erratically when set to intermittent mode. they cease operation mid-windshield and operate in a very choppy fashion when set to any setting besides full-on. this problem started occurring sporadically less than 1-month ago and now occurs whenever the wipers are turned on. bringing the car to the local chevy dealer service department tomorrow morning (6/15/2010) to fix the problem. *tr

I have to report a failed recall campaign 04v046000 on my 2002 trailblazer. my trailblazer had the recall performed on 10-26-04 concerning a problem of wipers stopping mid stroke. i don't drive that car that often, and when i do, it is most likely raining. well, the stopping mid stroke is again occurring. the dealer is not willing to do anything because the recall campaign has already been executed. it did not matter that the recall condition still exists. *cn

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact started the ignition. the automatic driver side window was nonfunctional when activated. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. the failure was an electrical issue. the vehicle remained at the authorized dealer for an extended period of four months in which there was no sufficient remedy for the failure. the vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 67,000.

Wiper motor was recalled for hestation but still does the same thing after being fixed replaced fan clutch 2008 transmission shifts/hesitates from 1st to 2nd cruise control stopped working when the tranny problem started. *tr

The 2002 trailblazer had a recall on the windshield wiper motor and the possibility of damage that water inside the motor could cause. the correction was performed by plugging a hole in the motor. my vehicle was also under a gmpp extended warranty. shortly later, the wipers began to malfunction while on intermittent. they stutter and sometimes stop in mid stroke, unless on high speed. i researched the internet and found numerous similar complaints that were caused by water damage that had occurred. i inquired at the dealer about correcting and they stated that since the recall had been performed, they could repair the unit only if i paid for the repairs. the estimated cost was around $350. additional internet research indicates numerous other complaints that have been corrected by opening the wiper motor and cleaning the contacts - a result of water damage, obviously caused even though the recall. i believe chevrolet should recall this vehicle and replace the wiper motor rather than plug the hole as they did originally. i also believe chevrolet knew their original recall (plugging the hole) would not last and motors would fail at a later time. updated 04/12/10

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the key fob sensor failed to open the power doors. this presents a hazard because there is no manual key entry for the doors. the failure occurs in cold weather conditions. the dealer stated that the repair was under warranty and will be repaired. they will replace the sensor and check the wiring in the vehicle. the failure mileage was 39,200 and current mileage was 39,620. updated 03/09/09. *lj the rear wiper was inopertive. updated 03/12/09. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving approximately 75 mph in rainy weather conditions, the windshield wipers failed to operate properly. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the control module failed. the vehicle was repaired. there were no prior recall defect repairs made to the vehicle. however, the manufacturer database indicated that the vehicle had been previously repaired for nhtsa campaign id number 04v046000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer); therefore, they refused to provide reimbursement for the repair. the failure mileage was 83,000 and current mileage was 87,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. in march of 2008, the rear hatch glass suddenly shattered. the hatch had just been in use prior to the failure. the contact heard a popping sound and realized that the glass shattered outward all over her yard and driveway. she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the repair would cost $1,200. the vehicle was taken to a repair shop and, with the assistance of her insurance company, the glass was repaired. in september of 2008, she took the vehicle to the dealer because the rear windshield wiper malfunctioned. the dealer replaced the wiper motor. in december of 2008, she took the vehicle to a dealer because the tailgate was closing hard, grinding progressively worse, and the rear windshield wiper would still not work. the dealer repaired the failures; however, the wiper still malfunctioned. in january of 2009, the shattered rear hatch failure occurred again. the contact stated that no one touched the vehicle for at least three hours before the glass shattered. she took the vehicle to another dealer and they stated that it was normal wear and tear; therefore, they could not assist. the dealer also cited that there was poor terminal tension in the liftgate. the manufacturer had not been notified. the contact had photos of the shattered glass. the current mileage was approximately 77,000 and failure mileage was 68,563.

The mirrors on this vehicle are supposed to have a recall between drivers but every time i put the key in they shift to some other position. never the right one, always excessive clicking and out of position. *tr

The side mirrors which have memory recall have never worked properly. they set themselves to different positions increasing the risk of collision due to reliance on the mirrors before changing lanes, etc. *tr

Back window exploded while vehicle was parked. *tr

My 2002 chevy trailblazer was recalled in 2005 for a wiper motor defect. the defect was supposed to be fixed. the wipers now exhibit the same problems as stated in the recall. i called gm and they will not agree to replace the wiper motor. nhtsa campaign id number : 04v046000. *tr

Remotes quit working, liftgate would not open, rear wiper not working. i had this issue back in may '05 and replaced engate module. same issues occurring again. i am sure i will have to replace engate module again. *tr

Windshield wiper stops working has to be shut off and restarted. has been recalled but chevy said the they have closed the claims on this recall #04v046000 and will not replace the motor. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact wanted to know why no one has contacted him in regards to the complaint that he filed a year ago. the original complaint was in reference to recall number 10169395 (visibility:windshield wipers). chevrolet informed him that his complaint file was closed and issued him a check for $240. if he cashed the check, that would mean the issue was resolved and he was satisfied with the results. the contact did not cash the check. the failure mileage was 47,000 and current mileage was 57,000.

Side mirrors no longer have memory of last position. i will find the mirrors pointing in different directions every time i start my vehicle. every itme i have to reajust both outside mirrors to the correct position.*ak

I live in southwest ohio and i own a 2002 trailblazer. i noticed that in december of 2006, my rear windshield wiper would not function when turned on. shortly thereafter, we had our first frost and i noticed that the rear defogger/defroster was not working. it is now nearly 0 degrees outside and even if i clean the window with a scraper, it still frosts up while driving. i have looked for a fuse to replace, but find none for the rear defrost, and the one for the rear wiper is fine. just yesterday, i picked up some large items at a home improvement store and was unable to unlock the rear gate, i tried to use the button on my remote, to which the car no longer responds, even with new battery, i tried to unlock it from the driver side controls with the car off and turned on, but nothing happened. so there me and my pregnant wife were standing in zero temperature weather with three large items on a cart and nowhere to go with them. we ended up paying somebody to haul them to our house. *nm

2002 chevrolet trailblazer with problems with car radio customer wants reimbursement for repairs**cc some type of electrical problem caused a loud pop to come through the speakers. the caused the radio to short out and the speakers to blow. the radio and speakers had been replaced several times. the amplifier also had to be replaced. the vehicle has been taken to the dealer on numerous occasions but they have been unable to correct the problem. the middle seat belt in the second row locked up as soon as it was fastened into the buckle. when the defroster was used the consumer heard a clicking noise. the dealer replaced the mode actuator and mode valve per tsb 04-01-38-002. the quarter panel on the roof seam sealer cracked and was rusted. the pull down strap on the rear hatch broke. the sway bar broke. a grinding noise was heard coming from the left front wheel when making sharp left turn. the dealer determined that suspension was misaligned and caused shield to touch rotor. the instrument cluster gauge was inoperative. the rear wiper did not touch the rear windshield. there was a high pitched noise coming from the right side tire whenever in motion. the dealer indicated it was improperly sealed. *nm

My windshield wiper motor seems to stall causing interrupted operation. this was the subject of a recall in 2004 and i had the vehicle serviced at that time in accordance with the recall. but the problem seems to have occurred again. *nm

Wiper stutter and stop completely without warning while in intermittent mode. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while parked the driver side seat belt locked up and would not retract. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer for nhtsa recall, # 04v201000 regarding seat belts. after a year, the same issue recurred. updated 11/16/06. *jb the air bag light illuminated. the shifter would stick when trying to move it from park to drive. the moonroof would not close

My vehicle is a 2002 trailblazer ltz. it has the "memory" mirror option which features memory set options for driver 1 and driver 2, as well as rearview curb assistance (the mirrors will tilt down to your setting to help parallel park when in reverse). this option worked great for a while. then, the mirrors started acting erratically. they would click excessively, tilt towards the sky or down at the ground. the mirrors quit holding their memory, and every time i got into the vehicle, i would have to reset the mirrors. the worrisome part of this is that the mirrors will not hold the reset either and while driving, the mirrors moved. i drive the interstate every day and when i checked the mirror to change lanes, found myself looking up at the clouds or down at the road. this is a serious safety issue!. (i won't even factor in the annoyance aspect.) my 17 year old doesn't understand why i won't teach her to drive in the "newer" car and i explained that i actually feel like she's safer, in the 96 saturn coupe, because the mirrors are reliable. i've seen this complaint on several sites and i seriously have to wonder why there has been no recall on something that is fundamentally a safety issue. *tr

I own a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer ltz, purchased brand new in the spring of 2002. in the early part of 2003, my side view mirrors, which are equipped to have memory options such as reverse curbview assist, started malfunctioning. the mirrors would no longer hold their memory, resulting in an adjustment to both mirrors every time i got in the car. sometimes the mirrors would appear to get stuck and make a clicking noise. dangerously, sometimes i would look to change lanes and realize my mirrors were not correct--they might be pointing up at the sky or down at the ground. eventually, i quit using the reverse curbview assist option (where the mirrors tilt down to help to parallel park when in reverse) because i was hoping that not moving the mirrors at all would help. the local dealership replaced the actuators in 2003 and reset the transmitter recently on 9/20/06. this helped the memory mirrors for some time. but now, i am bringing the car into the dealership for the third time for the same problem on 12/13/06--one or both mirrors will not hold their memory and i have to readjust them. the dealership is lost as to how to fix the problem and does not acknowledge this as a prevalent problem, although i have printed out numerous complaints about the mirrors found on-line from consumers. i am not sure if the problem is computer related or parts related, but obviously replacing parts (the actuators) did not permanently fix this problem. this is a safety issue when you expect your mirrors to be in the correct position for lane changing and they are not; it is also an extreme annoyance for what is supposed to be a nice suv with a nice price tag.*jb

Dt*: the contact stated while having a light bulb changed at the dealership, a recall was found on the windshield wiper/washer, #04v046000. although no problems were reported, the dealer inspected the part. after the inspection the wiper/washer would turn on and off on its own intermittently. the vehicle was returned to the dealer. updated 10/16/2006 - the wiper cover shorted and the switch had an open circuit. *nm

Exterior side mirrors with memory option fail to return to set position when key is inserted in ignition. mirrors have to be reset almost every time key is inserted in ignition. dealer re-programmed mirrors. but problem still exists. dangerous because if you don't notice mirrors have moved and you go to make lane change in emergency mirrors could be out of adjustment causing increased time to change lanes. *nm

The right side mirror on my 2002 trailblazer changes settings whenever the car is put into reverse even when this feature has been locked out. it does not return to the proper setting for driving and i have had two recent close calls by not being able to see cars approaching on my right side. the mirror and controls were checked several times and the mirror replaced once while the car was in warranty. i would be happy if the backup feature would stay locked out but have the control feature work so i could adjust the mirrors and have them stay adjusted. this has been a problem since the car was new but the recent close calls scared me into reporting it. *jb

2002 trailblazer windshield wipers do not turn off. *ts the consumer had to remove the fuse to get the wipers to turn off. the vehicle had been recalled for the wipers and the work had been performed prior to this failure. the mileage at the time was 60000 kilometers. the wiper worked fine prior to the recall repairs. recall 04v046000. the vehicle now has 04000 kilometers and the wiper circuit board needs to be replaced. *nm ***nar***

Windshield wiper module: there have been multiple recalls on the windshield wiper systems on chevy trailblazers (three on my vehicle). my windshield wiper crawls to a stop when set on high speed in heavy rain, making it difficult to see and dangerous to drive. i have been told by the dealer that i need to replace the windshield wiper module at a cost of $350+ because it has a short in it, but it is not covered under the recall. this is a safety issue with a known defective part, yet the manufacturer is refusing to replace or repair the defect. windshield wiper modules are closed systems and if mine has a short in it, it is because the manufacturer was faulty and moisture was allowed to get in. *jb

Tie rods, multiple transmission module problems, airbag, taillights, stop, turn signal rear problem, electrical/ wiring, radio, hvac, pressure control,2 batteries, 2 fan clutches, among other problems. *jb

I took my 2002 chev. trailblazer into sir walter chev. to have recall #nhtsa04v046000 repaired because my wipers are not working properly. after arriving at the dealer i spoke with woody the service writer. i explained my complaint with the wipers and he told me that there would be a charge of $79.00 per hour to check it out. i explained that this should be under recall. he explained that there would still be the charge to diagnose the problem. i explained that they had already had the vehicle in for this recall. he explained that he could not do anything because "it is closed out" he said he would try to talk to the services to see if they would check it with out charging the $79.00. they took the car back and checked it and found that the wiper module was bad and that they could fix it and the cost to me would be the $100.00 deductible on my extended warranty. i told him that this repair is covered under recall. i called gm costumer service and talked to ? mellisa elms @ 1 866 932 4368 ext. 39220 after getting my vin and looking up the recall she agreed that the repair was infact under the recall. after speaking with mrs. elms she called and spoke with the service manager and explained that the repair was covered under the recall and to go ahead and fix it. she then called me back and told me that they probably would not fix my car and that i should probably carry it to another dealer. i called sir walter to see if i could speek with someone to get this resolved. after about an hour ricky edwards "service manager" for sir walter called me back and told me that my wiper motor is the problem not the module as i was told euler and if i wanted it fixed it would cost me the deductible of $100.00. *nm

Who do i contact about recalls not being performed on my vehicle? *nm

Have had many of the problems i read on posted complaints: new engine required within nine months-one year of owning new vehicle, inside driver door panel replaced three times, change oil and service engine lights staying on, hood not closing properly, back glass needing replacement, fabric problems in back seat, etc., etc. and this morning it is a $200 problem with the headlight switch. too many things to even remember or name, but chevy has a pretty thick file on me and my vehicle. *nm

While driving to lax airport after rounding curve to get off on airport ramp, tranmission failed. vehicle would not move. local airport police assisted to get me towed ($45) to police lot. notified onstar and was towed to closest chevrolet dealer, albertson oldsmobile chevrolet in culver city, california. after three days the dealer had not even looked at the vehicle. i then ha car towed to aamco transmission in orange california where after less than 24 hours i was informed transmission was completely burned up. a pump had failed and the inside of the transmisson assembly was filled with metal shavings. in october of 2003 the transmission had failed and the car had to be towed to gateway chevrolet in la mirada, california. car was repaired. i have also had many other problems with this vehicle including brake lights, windshield wipers, heating & air conditioning system.

dt: the contact states there was nhtsa recall campaign 04v046000 regarding windshield wiper/washer. the dealer performed only a partial correction to the defective component. the partial repair did not correct the safety defect. the vehicle has not been fully repaired, because the contact would have to cover the cost of the repairs. *ak

Noises coming from underneath the suv ,check engine light constantly came on and one night i was going around 55 mph my 15 yr old daughter,we heard a loud pop it sound like we had hit something in the road so i stop to see what it was, we saw nothing but the squeaking sound from under the suv got louder some day later jumped in the car started the car and there was that loud sound again only this time the suv would not move in reverse i could hear some spinning like noise so i took it to a shop and i was told that the transmission was striped out in reverse, and that some shaft had broken or something, the mechanic also told me that he had several people come in with the same problem the same model trailblazer 2002 what hurt me so bad is this was my first brand new car, i only had it for two years, and if i every buy another car it want be from gm, i also had problems with my tailgate lamps ,windshield wipers, steering column. *nm

Purchased new 2002 trailblazer ltz which has had this problem since 2005. driver & passenger mirrors position themselves erratically at every ignition and sometimes while driving. a constant twitching on the passenger side also occurs while driving. it is very dangerous when mirrors are not positioned correctly once driving. chevrolet dealer failed to find the fault and reprogrammed twice. no parts have been replaced as they have now idea what the problem is or how to fix it. this seems to be a common problem, however. *tr

Dt: contact bought a 2002 trail blazer in 2004. contact complained about electrical problems. brake lights/headlights/ 4-wheel switch , and blower switch went out. on 12-720-04 she started having transmission problems. it started grinding when she put in fourth gear. when she took vehicle to the dealer ,they told her that gears were faulty. when she put vehicle in 4-wheel drive, it broke. she had it repaired, and then the headlights went off because the headlight switch burned out. then she had a new actuator put on it and a month later, she had to have another actuator put in. on 7-20-05 while driving, the 4-wheel drive switch came on, and was switching between 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive. vehicle stopped, and she put it in 4-wheel drive. went back to the dealer, who told consumer differential failed. before she could drive home the transfer case module went out. the name of the dealer where she has been taking the car was gillelands at 3019 division street, st. cloud, mn 56301.*ak in addition to all the vehicle's problems, the sunroof was broken and the sway bar links were loose. *tt

While driving any speed the rear windshield wipers would turn on. dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. *ak

The front windsheild wipers on my 2002 chevrolet trail blazer lt, have a problem. when they are set for slow speed, they skip (jerk) at the same spot during the wipe. when set for normal operation, they do not skip. i've cleaned the windsheild, and replaced the wiper blades, but the problem still exists. i believe this is a problem with the wipper motor. this happens whenever i have to turn on the wipers when it's raining. it started over a year ago, but the most recent incident date was 11/30/04. have there been any other complaints with this problem? *ak

Automatic (programmable) side view (exterior) mirrors do not maintain their settings. they must be changed each time the vehicle is started and sometimes move while the vehicle is moving. dealer first stated they couldn't duplicate the problem. i told them that was impossible and took the service tech out to experience the problem. he climbed out of the vehicle and said "gosh, i don't know." i have complained about the problem to this dealer several times throughout my warranty. the mirror on the other side was replaced because the nut was stripped inside the mirror. now that my car is at 34,000 and they tell me i've owned it for 3 years effective october that my warranty is no longer any good. i would think a previous problem would have overridden this. *jb

2002 trailblazer acted like transmission going out, took to dealer they upgraded computer. front right low beam wired burned and melted, took to dealer they wanted to charge 250.00 plus labor for light assembly when all it needed was a piggy plug, bought plug at napa and fixed myself. never have had two back lights working at same time... cant take to dealer to get the recall work because it seems that these vehicles are using a "weak" oil pump and my trailblazer has been in shop for last month or more waiting to be fixed. the weak oil pump caused damage to rod bearings, main bearings, and crankshaft. gm says out of warranty and my customer service specialist said "i'm sorry" about 10 times but she was still closing my folder and marking dissatisfied. she can't help me because i'm out of warranty. i hate this vehicle. i have found quite a few recalls but can't do most because its in the shop. i never got any recall notices.*ak

The side view mirrors inadvertently moved once they had been set. please provide more information. *jb

Vehicle type: 2002 chevy trailblazer. brake lights, tail lights, and turn signals at the rear of the vehicle fail without warning. light bulbs burn out in hours or days, rather than weeks or months. no signs of moisture in the tail light assemblies that would shorten bulb-life. the total light failure has happened 6 times in the past 3 months. no accidents, but several near misses. have spent more than $150 in new bulbs for tail lights and brake lights over this time frame. old bulbs do not always appear to have burned or broken elements, but have replaced them anyway for safety sake. windshield wipers don't work when turned on, or come on when switch is in the off position. dash lights all light up for no reason. heater/air conditioner blower won't work, and power windows won't work when dash lights are lit. took this problem to the dealer for repair. said they couldn't find anything, but reset the computer just in case it was malfunctioning. this happened again on the way home from the dealer. called them back the next morning, they said there wasn't anything else they knew to look at. this happens about once every other week and is intermittent. this part of the problem does not occur at the same time the brake and tail lights fail. problems have been on-going since i purchased this vehicle in february 2004. *jb
