We have classified the 5 complaints from 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
The electrical system on my 2004 trailblazer ext is not operating properly. the tachometer doesn't register, nor does the battery gauge and uncertain if the reading on the oil gauge is accurate. the fuel gauge is not operable, the needle is either pass e(empty) or pass f (full), i'm constantly re-fueling for fear of running out of gas. when first starting the engine, the speed indicator might register correctly, but then it falls below 0 mph while traveling speeds of 35 to 55 mph and other times it may indicate speeds in excess of 100 mph. problems with the speedometer first started in june 2012 , i used a gps to keep track of traveling speed. afterwards, the other gauges started to malfunction. no parts have been repaired or replaced.very concerned about safety issues, as i occasionally transport my grandchildren to appointments. has chevrolet made any amendments to correct these problems? assistance needed please. *tr

I have a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer and the rear glass has shattered 2 times the first time we reported it as a window being shot out but im not sure that's what happened now there was no proof that's what happened for sure i opened the outside door to my house then i shut it to hear my window shatter ins paid to replace it and that was just over a year ago it cost a total of 1200.00 to get fixed then last night we were getting stuff out of the back of the car and as my husband pushed it shut the window shattered into a million pieces this would have cut him up bad if it would not have been cold and he wasn't wearing his winter coat what if it was my 8 year old going out to get something . not sure how we are going to get the window replaced its christmas time and i cant really afford it hoping the glass company will honor there policy of safe glass and replace it. *tr

I have a 2004 chevy trailblazer with about 79000 miles on it. the instrument cluster started being incorrect about a year and a half ago. at that time i was not aware of what the problem was and did not realize that this problem is so widespread among trailblazer owners. the gauges stick. when this first started it was just the speedometer and the rpm gauge, but now its the mentioned gauges plus the fuel gauge. i have had a traffic stop and was given a warning for defective equipment. i would like to know why is there not a recall in place for the repair of this problem? i have been told that it has been brought in as a problem by a lot of owners and the cost is around $500. please help with this issue that is clearly not an owner initiated problem but a defect in manufacturing. thank you very much.
My air/heat on occasion has not worked. this happened a few times where i would turn on the system and everything would sound like it was on but nothing would blow out at all. my vehicle is of course out of warranty and i went to my mechanic who said this is an on going issue with many gm vehicles. currently my unit is not working again. *tr
We have a 2004 chevy trailblazer, that originally began with the speedometer appearing to be stuck for a few days, would gradually decrease. followed by the rpm having the same problem. today, 11/28/08, all gauges lit up, warning bells rang, and then the entire instrument panel shut down. there was a recall for the silverado for the same year, but trailblazer owners are required to pay the repair bill for a faulty instrument panel. being unable to know your speed, how much gas you have, or if your running low on vital fluids seems to be pretty dangerous to me. the fact that gm will repair the silverado, but not the trailblazer despite the fact that they are both in the "truck" category is ridiculous. it seems to me that any one of these problems can lead to death or injury of the occupants of my vehicle, either by fire, stalling in traffic and being hit by another vehicle at a high rate of speed, or because of the inability to ensure that my vehicle is operating with the proper vital fluids, as well as maintaining a safe rate of speed. my teenage children also drive this car on occasion, and though they've been driving for 3 & 4 years, they do not have enough experience to operate this vehicle safely. there was a recall for the brake lights, how can they justify that when people are driving around without properly working instrument panels? the solution being offered is for the consumer to pay at least 500.00 to repair something vital to the safe operation of the vehicle, but gm will replace the taillight/brake light that costs pennies on the dollar. *tr
I buckled up my child's safety seat and it did not provide an anchor point on the back of the bench seat to be able to provide head support in an event of a crash. the rear seatbelt also did not provide a lock feature; therefore providing whiplash in the event of a crash or even cause the car seat to fall over on the left - out the back passenger window or to the right tipping on another passenger, causing injury. *tr
(1) fuel sensor went bad on my '04 chevy trailblazer ext ls 4wd 4.2 liter v6 engine which has (26,000 miles on it - excellent condition), thereby (2) causing the catalytic converter to become congested causing loss of power for use and towing on the vehicle. (3) told by the dealer where vehicle purchased that this item is not available for consumer use by gm parts and service. told i would have to wait up to 3 months for item to be available for public release. this is not acceptable on a leased vehicle. paying to not be able to use vehicle to full potential. major loss. i am very dissatisfied with gm service. however, i was offered a rental vehicle to drive for this time period that is not equivalent to my own vehicle. this was finally offered after arguing with gm representative. *nm
(1) crash (2) air bags did not work, knees hit dash (3) truck was totaled. *jb
I am in the process of having to replace the head unit for my stereo due to malfunctions, my driver side view mirror due to constant shaking, a seal in the window that was coming out, driver side door panel due to the plastic bowing up. occasionally the rear windshield wiper does not work, as well as the driver's seatbelt fails to release allowing me to put my seatbelt on. excess wind noise on the driverside possibly due to the windshield not being sealed properly.*ak
