At low speeds my brake pedal would get extremely hard to push down causing the car to be difficult to stop. after turning off the vehicle and turning it back on it seemed fine. a few weeks went by with no issues and then it returned when backing out of my driveway. turned the vehicle off and on and it seemed to be working fine. another 3 days passes and then brake pedal gets hard and can barely stop the car causing a close collision. the service brake assist light comes on and the brakes are extremely difficult to push to make the car stop. drove the vehicle home carefully due to needing to step on the brakes extremely hard. replaced the brake booster and still not working. replaced the vacuum pump and line to fix the issue. this caused many close calls as the first time i was backing into a parking spot and almost hit the wall. the other times i was driving through a drive through almost hit the car in front of me and driving through a neighborhood towing and almost hit the car in front of me at the stop sign.
When applying brake at low speeds (under 5 mph) the vehicle continues to roll with brake pressed all the way to floor. eventually stops but this happens in drive and reverse...scary when parking and another car or other object is in front of you. no noise or dash display indicator.
Since may the brakes have not worked intermittently and to stop the car i had to press down as hard as possible. early on i had the fluid levels and brake pads and rotors checked and was told they were fine so i was not sure of the problem until i saw a bulletin from your office. i then took it to the dealer who diagnosed it as low output from the vacuum pump. it cost nearly $700 to replace and in my opinion should be put on recall as it is very dangerous to have the brakes fail intermittently. i almost had a number of accidents due to this issue and had to have my vehicle pulled from the water when launching my boat.
Failure in brake vacuum pump caused my brakes to improperly work this me rear ending another car. brake felt like a rock and pushed back against my foot. i was in motion at roughly 15mph and was able to slow to roughly 8mph at a distance of roughly 10 yards. this was during rush hour traffic. problem had been intermittent at very low parking lot speeds.
Tamara recall. vehicle failed to stop while applying brakes at a very slow speed. while pulling into a parking space, under 5mph, a heavy amount of pressure was applied to brake pads and vehicle failed to stop.
The brake pedal becomes almost impossible to depress at low speeds causing the vehicle to roll without the ability to stop. seems like the brake booster is failing to apply pressure to the brake system. have read several complaints on this so i wanted to document one more case to push gm for a recall. my family almost had a bad crash the other day due to this and now it happens all the time. abs is not activating to cause this, it is more a lack of boost in the brake system. we only have 40,000 miles on our truck.
Vehicle brakes become hard to press when vehicle is in reverse and sometimes when moving slowly in parking lots. this happened multiple times and most recently as of november 25, 2018
I just had the brake vacuum pump replaced ( $750.00 ) now i see there might be a recall for this problem . brakes were hard to push down at times .
On numerous occasions, particularly at low speeds and going in reverse, the brake pedal suddenly becomes very difficult to press and delays the braking. i saw in the news that there was an investigation into this or similar problem. i have reported it to my dealers 2 different times. once they did not find anything. the next time they made some repair but the problem still persists. it is very intermittent but extremely frightening when it happens. going in reverse on a slope (out of a driveway) is particularly concerning. have noticed this problem for the past 2 years. i have approx 95,000 on my vehicle.
Brake vacuum pump failed during low speed driving causing my wife to nearly collide with vehicle in front of her. she was forced to exit the roadway and go into the median until vehicle could be stopped.
Brake booster quit working. especially on inclines. wife could not stop vechicle with children inside. very scary. dealer charged 600.00 to fix and required new surge time belt as well.
Brakes suddenly became extremely hard to apply at low speeds. brake pedal was stiff and wouldn't engage. i first noticed it while pulling in a parking space then reversing to straighten the vehicle. the brakes wouldn't engage and i had to press the emergency brake. this first occurance happened approximately 5:00 pm on november 11, 2018 in orlando, fl. at this time, i noticed the issue but after i turned off the vehicle and restarted, it appeared to be resolved. i continued my evening and drove several places and eventually drove back home to tampa, fl without any issues. upon reaching my destination and attempting to parallel park, the brakes failed again. i turned of the car and restarted it and the brakes did not engage and the brake pedal was stiff. i did not drive it again. i suspected an issue with the vacuum pump and had the vehicle towed to dimmitt chevrolet in clearwater, fl the following morning. dimmitt "verified concern. performed diag. found engine vacuum pump is weak and not pulling enough vacuum at times." dimmitt "removed and replaced vacuum pump."
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet tahoe. while driving 10 mph or less, the vehicle required excessive effort to stop. the contact stated that the brake pedal became very difficult to depress, which made it difficult to slow down or stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to koons chevrolet (located at 10207 philadelphia rd, white marsh, md 21162, (410) 931-8600) where it was diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 68,000. the vin was not available.
As i was backing down a hill my breaks would barely function. i finally was able to get my vehicle to stop and take it to a dealership where i was told my vacuum pump needed replaced. i understand this has happened to other consumers so i wanted to make sure my issue was documented as well.
At low speeds brakes fail. when you press brakes the car will not stop. i have to put both my feet on the brake pedal to stop.
2015 tahoe was being backing up into parking space and lost all capability to brake. vehicle with 64,500 miles (out of warranty) and no other previous mechanical issue. incident did not result in an accident or injury but vehicle was towed to chevrolet dealership after researching problem and identifying other late model chevrolet trucks owners with similar braking problems. owner described problem and informed dealer of chevrolet technical service bulletin. vehicle was repaired with replacement of brake booster, vacuum pump, and brake vacuum sensor. no recurrence since repair and vehicle now operating as designed with 66,700 miles.
I had an issue with my breaks and chevy said it was my brake vacuum pump. they replaced it at my cost. i had an extended warranty so it only cost me a $150 deductible. i just read about this in the news and decided to report it. but it was very dangerous. in bumper to bumper traffic, i constantly felt that my breaks were gone and almost rear ended several different cars
No brakes when sitting in traffic or going at a slow speed . pedal goes to the floor. has 40.000 miles . just purchased used at dealer 2 months . had 3000 miles from time of purchase put on vehicle. was waiting on line at midtown tunnel when brakes went out . pretty scary
Brake pedal becomes hard to press when rpms are low. unable to stop quickly.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet tahoe. while driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was applied, but was difficult to depress. the vehicle failed to stop. the contact had to pump the brake pedal in order for the vehicle to stop. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (ed bozarth chevrolet, 8351 parkway dr, lone tree, co 80124, (720) 279-0119). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet tahoe. while driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was stiff and unable to be depressed. in addition, the service brake assist indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (jay hodge chevrolet, 478 wildcat way, sulphur springs, tx 75482, (866) 839-1034) where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump and brake belts needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 97,700.
Takata recall while driving on the highway i had to slow down as i pressed on the break the break paddle became hard to press down and the vehicle is does not want to slow down or stop in a timely manner which is a very big safety issue. the. break assistance comes on the drive dashboard. i believe it has something to do with the brake booster.
Inadequate braking for the vehicle. my wife was traveling down a city street and could not stop the vehicle causing her to pull over for fear of her safety. the vehicle has 75000 miles on it and is out of the 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. my wife all most wrecked because the brake pedal was hard and caused the vehicle to become difficult to stop. chevy would not pay for diagnostic fee even though this is a known issue. very unsafe to operate. should be a full blown recall to go along with the technician service bulletin that was issued regarding the vacuum pump booster and master cylinder and other braking system components. $1400 repair estimate if the dealership follows the tsb recommendation on repair. chevy does not care about customer safety. unacceptable!!!
No power assist with brakes, hard pedal, inadequate braking. found vehicles vacuum pump and line that supplies vacuum to the power brake booster failed.
Was parking and the service brake turn hard as a rock. so at a slow speed drive around the lot to found the service brake with no warning would just stop working. like the brake booster lost vacuum and needed time to build back up. had towed to dealer. mileage 37,500 give or take 100 miles at no time did any warning lights come on . same thing happed at the dealer then tech and service writer drove it . also right side drl seems to fail in every one i see
November 2017: intermittent brake failure as low speeds (idle) when engine is hot. generally occurs, when pulling into parking spots, backing-up, and slowly approaching stop light or stop sign. brake pedal to floor, pedal pulses. gm repair with new master cylinder. said brake fluid was by-passing the piston. may 2018: intermittent brake failure as low speeds (idle) when engine is hot. this time issue started when towing a rv. issue remained after towing ceased. gm said test drove and stated nothing is wrong with brake system. bring back another day to test drive if you can get issue to occur. i agree, when i retrieved the vehicle from gm, the brakes worked .
No power assist with brakes, hard pedal, inadequate braking. found vehicles vacuum pump and line that supplies vacuum to the power brake booster failed.
When driving in low speeds - such as parking or stop/go traffic my brakes fail to work. i try to push pedal down as hard as i can but barely seems to stop. i have had to push my emergency brake pedal more than once to stop an accident from happening i also have a small child that i fear will be hurt if the problem is not fixed. i have taken it to dealership and they say they can't replicate the issue there fore can not fix.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the brakes failed while pulling into a parking lot. the vehicle would not stop and the brake pedal nearly went to the floorboard before the vehicle finally stopped. the brake warning indicator was illuminated. the contact called neilson chevrolet (1 us-46, dover, nj 07801, (973) 366-1243) and was informed that diagnostic testing was needed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired; however, the dealer stated that a brake vacuum was needed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 81,000.
Tl* the contact called on behalf of her son who was the vehicle owner/driver of a 2015 chevrolet tahoe. while driving at approximately 45-50 mph, the vehicle crashed into a tree. the contact was concerned that the collison may have been related to existing recalls on the vehicle. the driver was fatally injured. the contact was the mother of the driver. the contact stated that while her son was driving between 45-50 mph, he lost control of the vehicle, jumping a curb, and crashed into a tree. during the crash the air bags did deploy but the driver was not wearing a seat belt. the driver was fatally injured during the crash and sustained two broken legs. the contact stated that based on the police and ems reports received, the middle console had been ripped off by the driver during the incident in an attempt to brace himself for the collision. the report also mentioned that no tire skid marks were present at the scene. the vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene. the contact stated that the event data recorder (edr) was destroyed. as a result, the cause of the failure was not diagnosed. the contact discovered that the vin was later included in nhsta campaign numbers: 18v586000 (steering) and 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the manufacturer was notified of the incident. the failure mileage was 50,000.

I been having my truck for 2 years and brakes keep going out and the air condition keeps going out. i have two friends the same vehicle with the same problems. this is ridiculous i see no recalls on that. and i've seen on the reviews of this vehicle and its not just me there's people out there with the same problem that i am having. this could cause a really bad accident the brakes keep going out i am not the only one with this problem. please take in consideration that everyone has families. and accidents could cause us to lose our family just for a simple brakes that have not been recalled. and also, we just cannot keep affording to fix the air conditioning this truck is not even old enough to be giving us these problem. thank you
My 2015 chevrolet tahoe lt would not stop approaching a major intersection. brake pedal became hard and would not come to a complete stop at a major city intersection, nearly causing an accident. i was told by the dealership that the vacuum pump will need to be replaced at my expense and it is a common occurrence on this year and model . not only is this a safety issue, its a common problem and a technical bulletin has been released for the repair. this vehicle is out of the bumper to bumper warranty but is still however under the 1000,000 drive train warranty. gm needs to address this problem before someone gets injured.
Computer message coming back as having a problem with the vacuum pump for the brakes. very common and known problem the chevy has not pair.
Brakes became extremely stiff, and power assist was lost. vehicle is very hard to stop, nearly causing an accident several times. took vehicle to a service shop, and found out that the vacuum pump was defective and caused oil to enter my brake vacuum and brake lines. had to all be replaced.
Driving on the highway and city street it has happened at least 3 times in the last couple months, the park assit, stabillity track and last night the steering assist came on along with other lite lights brake, abs which i have recorded on my phone. at the moment its at the dealer, per service advisor they " had the truck on drove it and has happened of now to them, requested to keep another day to recheck tomorrow.
My 2015 chevrolet tahoe's interior lights flash brightly when the brake or left turn signal is applied. it is a very bright flash and extremely distracting at night. it happens while driving. i can imagine it is also very distracting to other drivers at night as well. it happens every time the brake or left turn signal is turned on. online research indicates other people also have this issue. it happens on all roadways at all times. but specifically at night is the safety concern. my passengers in the rear have also been complaining that it is physically stressful to them when the interior lights flash without them expecting them too.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet tahoe. while driving approximately 25 mph, the steering wheel inadvertently pulled to the right. while attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. as a result, the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked vehicle. while the gear shifter was in reverse or drive, the vehicle failed to operate. the air bags did not deploy. the tire pressure and eps assist warning indicators illuminated. the contact sustained an injury to the lower back, but no medical attention was required. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to nissani bros. chevrolet (6101 w slauson ave, culver city, ca 90230 (424) 216-7400), but it had not been diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 16v256000 (suspension). the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided case number: 8-3571350184. the contact was advised to call nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 25,400.
Upon driving in low speed, dry conditions, bumper to bumper traffic (less than 10mph), my 2015 chevrolet tahoe ltz's brakes became unresponsive. at that point, i put all my weight on the brakes and the car came to an uncalculated stop. this problem persisted and did not remedy itself. the dealership notified me that there was a faulty brake vacuum pump, and brake booster, and that it failed because of moisture penetration. further, general motors has issued technical bulletin pit 5361a/b/c to address this known issue. my tahoe has 59,000 miles on it. after further research, this is a known issue by gm at the time of my vehicle purchase in december 2014 and further, has been acknowledged through technical bulletins to the gm dealers. further, there are documented cases where injuries/wrecks have occurred due to this specific issue. the general motors company has been negligent in its handling of this important safety (not cosmetic) issue.
I was driving in traffic going about 5mph and when i applied my brakes they were not working 100% i had to push the pedal to the floor and the truck kept rolling. i had to had to figure out a way to safely move to the shoulder of the freeway to avoid accidents. i waited on the shoulder of the freeway for about a hour for traffic to stop. i was finally able to get off the freeway so i could check the brake fluid it was full. i knew there wasn't a problem with the brakes because they had just been replaced the prior month. i knew the vehilce was not safe to drive home so i left the truck at davis chevrolet at their night drop. i talked to a service technician and he informed me that he has seen this issue a lot with 2015 tahoe's, and infact 3 2015 tahoe's were brought in the same day november 3,2017. before looking at my vehicle the technician told me it was the vacume pump but he would call me back to let me know for certain. once they looked at my truck he said it was the vacuum pump that needed to be replaced and it was not under warranty. i don't understand how gm knows about this issue and still does not recall it, this can cause major accidents and potentially cause a life. it's obvious there is a issue with tje vacuume pumps in tje 2015 tahoe's and gm needs to take responsibility and do a recall before someone dies because their brakes fail due to a vacuum pump not working.
While reversing in slow speeds intermittently in forward motion, the brake pedal becomes very hard and will not stop the vehicle. the brake pedal has to be depressed very hard and there is a vibrating motion. the master cylinder has already been replaced by the dealership at an expense of nearly $600, but the issue persists.
Hard brake pedal, increased effort is needed to depress brake pedal. most commonly at speeds <35 mph. often vehicle does not want to stop. vehicle was in moderate morning rush hour traffic. vehicle in front stopped quickly from 40 mph. tried pressing brake pedal on 2015 tahoe to stop, pedal was extremely hard and vehicle would not stop.
As i was sitting in the vehicle in park, i placed my foot on the brake and noticed that the brake assist had activated while in park. i was unable to push the petal down. i was able to move the shifter into drive with my foot on the brake, but the vehicle immediately plunged forward. as i continued to try and depress the brake petal, the vehicle finally slowed to a stop. before i could get off the road and out of traffic, the brake assist continued to be locked up and there was no brakes if i shifted into reverse. i was extremely concerned for mine and my children's safety as this could have caused a very serious accident. the brakes did not stop the vehicle and were defective due to the vacuum pump "going out". the vehicle is only 2 years old and has 49k miles.
While driving on the road in traffic i went to press on the brakes and noticed they had become stiff and had to press them as hard as possible to slowly stop while trying to avoid hitting another vehicle in traffic. no warning lights were on in the dash until i pulled over and restarted vehicle a couple of times. then i got the active brake assist service light on. i had the vehicle towed to the nearest chevrolet service center due to the vehicle not safe to drive.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that while driving at 5 mph, the brake pedal was applied but failed to respond without warning. the vehicle was towed to a local dealer: coughlin ford of circleville located at 24001 us highway 23 s circleville oh 49113 where it was diagnosed that the brake sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the vehicle was then towed to hare chevrolet located at 2001 stony creed rd noblesville in 46060 where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case # 8-31775454 but did not offer any further assistance. the failure mileage was 31,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet tahoe. while driving 70 mph, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle without warning. with the brake pedal all the way to the floorboard, the driver was able to drive off the highway and finally stopped the vehicle with the emergency brake. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (rydell chevrolet in northridge, california) where it was diagnosed that the brake assist failed. the vacuum pump and the belt kit were replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that an investigation would be conducted to determine the actual cause of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 51,871. updated 09/20/17*lj *cn
Returning from an 80 mile trip from washington dc when i approached a stop light on the highway. brake pedal went completely to the floor when i tried to engage. luckily i was able to stop short of hitting car ahead of me. i proceeded through light only to experience the same issue when i pulled off the highway into a convenience store and called my husband. he immediately drove to the dealer and did have brakes at that time. they found oil in the brake line. had to replace the pump, pipe, booster, cylinder and brake fluid. it was reported to me this has happened numerous times to same model. why not a recall? very unsafe! my car was out of warranty.
When applying the brakes my car doesn't stop 100% of the time. 1 time during highway slow moving traffic, 3 times backing out of my driveway (flat surface), 4 times when on incline/decline of road. when applying brakes, horrible chattering vibration comes from left front tire area, chatter vibration is felt in brake pedal. no matter how hard i apply the brake the car keeps going - it will finally stop, but i almost hit the car in front of me at the one highway occurrence, 2 times car finally stopped just before going over edge of property when pulling forward & backward to turn around in tight area. in each instance i am moving at a very slow speed. i contacted dealership, they told me i wasn't the only one calling about this happening but since i'm over 36,000 warranty they will charge me to ck it out, probably can't recreate the problem, said it was probably abs but nothing they can do about that, suggested i find a dealership close to me whenever it happens again!
The brakes power assist fails after application of brakes in traffic or when reversing. when in heavy traffic situation and when applying light pressure numerous times, the brakes power assist fails and you have to apply very heavy pressure to the pedal to stop. reversing, the brakes power assist fails almost immediately after initial brake application.
The brake pedal sits significantly higher than the gas pedal. when moving my foot from the gas pedal to the brake pedal, my foot gets caught on the back of the brake pedal.
