Gaping crack that runs into air bag area, the exact same as the thousands of people who have also had this issue - google search gm yukon and tahoe cracked dash groups. *tr

At 90,000 miles, all of my rear bearings were bad and had to have them replaced, basically a whole new rear end. luckily it was covered under the 100,000 mile power train warranty. i have only towed a trailer twice with my tahoe, so obviously a defect somewhere. second issue is that there are 2 cracks on the dashboard; one in the area of the passenger side air bag, and the other on the backside of the drivers side steering column. these both occurred about the same time, around 100,000 miles. obviously this is a widespread issue. gm needs to be replacing these dashboards on their dime and not expecting the customer to foot the bill for this defective product. it is definitely a safety issue. should the airbag system have to deploy, pieces of plastic would become projectiles that would harm anyone inside the vehicle. the third issue i have, that began today at 109,000 miles, are involving the instrument panel. the speedometer did not work, the light that indicates which gear you are in did not come on, and the seat belt light and air bag light were on even though i was wearing my seat belt. i'm not sure what is causing this, and i'm hoping it is just a bad fuse. i am so dicouraged with my tahoe lately. all of these little things going wrong have really made me leary of buying another gm product, and i've been excited about the 2015 redesign. not so much now. *tr

I am concerned about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants. the dash in the truck cracked out of no where and is very poorly made. this should be replaced asap by automaker. *tr

Dash is cracked in multiple places around airbag. electrical system bugs out when driving in rain rngine consumes 2 quarts of oil in between changes

Dash is cracked in 3 places as of today 9/30/14 and one place is next to the passenger side airbag. *tr

I noticed a crack in my dashboard about 5 months ago. this crack is directly beside the passenger side airbag and is about 1-2 inches long. the opposite end of the crack (not connected to the airbag) has splintered off into more than just one crack. my concern is if the air bag is deployed, will this cause shattering and debris to fly into the face of my passengers and myself? *tr

There are dashboard cracks in my 2007 chevy tahoe. one of the cracks is 2? long, near the passenger side airbag. i have done extensive research on this problem to see if its an anomaly. it isn't. i am a member of a facebook group who currently has 250 members and have the exact same defect. it appears this is a manufacturing defect. the cracks are in the same location among hundreds, if not thousands of consumers. i am worried the crack on the passenger side of the dash is a hazard if the air bag is deployed. i can imagine shards of plastic causing serious injury to the passenger. the cost to replace the dash is between $1,000-$1,500. there are members of the facebook group who have had 3 dashes replaced because gm refuses to fix the defect. please refer to this youtube video where it shows the cracks on several gmc and chevy autos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ikscklf7g8 please see the facebook group for more confirmation and information on the defect. https://www.facebook.com/groups/251892298253/ currently the nhtsa has 98 complaints filed online relating to the dash cracks, but they have yet to initiate an investigation. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/searchvehicles also my service air bag light continues to come up and they tell me they cant find the problem and i asked if the crack in the dash on air bag affects that and they also replied they did not know that the code just says somewhere on the passenger side and now i will have to wait until something brakes. *jb

Tamara recall cracked dash causing potential shards if airbag deployed. common problem with tahoe and other gm brands

My impeccably maintained suv has multiple cracks in the dash that i believe if the air bags deploy will cash serious bodily harm. i am continually finding pieces on the dash on my floorboard near the gas pedals on the drivers side and far forward on the passenger side. and recently with the cracks getting worse i have noticed the broken pieces are starting to flap around with the forced air coming through the vents.

Pass takata air bag recall with no part availability and multiple cracks in my dash

Dash is brittle and cracked around airbag, might cause a price to be broke off and projected into my wife or kids face causing death. *tr

My vehicle have several severe cracks in the dashboard from poor quality materials. this defect is causing concern about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the front and rear side air bags deployed erroneously. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was advised that the insurance company should inspect the vehicle. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 75,000. *tr

I noticed a couple of large cracks in the dash after purchase. this vehicle is prone to dash cracks due to faulty plastic (online research). i'm concerned there may be a safety hazard with the crack around the airbag. *tr

My dashboard cracked and i'm concerned about my airbags. i guess a lot of the chevy tahoes have had issues with the dashboard cracking. *tr

Two cracks have appeared in the dash, one of them is on the right side passenger side where the air bag is the second one is driver side on top. i'm concerned that the air bag is compromised, and could be a safety hazard. *js

I noticed a crack on the dashboard above the instrument cluster and another next to the passenger airbag. my concern regarding the crack near the passenger airbag is whether this will effect the deployment of the airbag in case of an accident. the crack above the instrument cluster keeps spreading, this concerns me as well since a piece may break off and cause internal damage to the components inside the dashboard. i spoke to the service manager at my local chevrolet dealership. he admitted that there is a problem with these dashboards and hoped that a recall would be issued by the manufacturer. he suggested i contact gm about this issue and see if i qualify for a "goodwill dash replacement". i sent an email to gm. i spoke to 3 gm reps before i spoke to the rep assigned to my case,[xxx]. [xxx] said that they are unable to provide any assistance under the goodwill program because i am the second owner. i advised her that there are many others that have the same issue. (this can be referenced at http://chevroletforum.com/forum/tahoe-suburban-25/2007-tahoe-ltz-dash-has-cracked-26133/ ). i believe gm is absolutely aware of this issue, otherwise why would they even offer this "goodwill dash replacement" program. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was traveling on a state highway to an event. this was the second day of the event, so i had traveled the same road the day prior. i slowed to cross railroad tracks. while crossing the tracks, the front and middle side airbags deployed on both the driver's and passenger's sides. the force of the deployment also cracked areas around the interior walls and blew out the rear overhead light. i am not sure exactly what, but something struck me on the top of my head at the time of the deployment. fortunately, i had slowed to cross the tracks or there could have been a different outcome. *tr

Upon purchasing my 2007 tahoe used i noticed 2 cracks on dashboard. the one on the passenger side is cracked at corner of airbag which is concerning due to an airbag deployment shards of plastic could be turn ed into projectiles. noticed there are many, many of the same vehicles with identical cracks and locations of them. thanks *tr

Cracking in dashboard cause potential safety hazard upon deployment

My wife was driving down the street at 5:30 am to go to a charity event 5k run. she was going 40mph, on a street that had no traffic on it that early in the morning, when out of the blue, all the side curtain airbags deployed. i contacted gm central office, they did an investigation, then told me that they were not at fault, that the computer on the tahoe said it was about to be in an accident so the airbags deployed. i told him the computer was evidently wrong since my wife was not about to be in an accident. he said that the tahoe functioned normally as it should. i asked him again if it was normal for airbags just to deploy on their own with no evidence of an accident and if the computer "said" so, then evidently the computer is wrong and faulty and something needs to be done before someone gets killed.. he said gm will not admit any fault and they will not pay for it. i am seeking legal counsel for a class action lawsuit. if this had happened in the middle of the day on a crowded interstate, i have no doubt that there would have been a horrific wreck and people seriously injured if not killed. gm needs to own up and take responsibility and do a recall. *tr

The dash has cracked behind the passenger side air bag for no apparent reason. i am afraid if the bag deploys it will throw the piece as a projectile and hit the passenger. many complaints on the internet, gm is selectively assisting in repair. i was informed they would not help me because i have an aftermarket radio and alarm, neither of which is anywhere near the passenger side. *tr

Dashboard is cracked on both driver and passenger side near airbags. my fear is that due to that the airbags wont function properly. *tr

Dashboard cracks with sharp edges around airbag causing noisy airbag area vibration and separation form dashboard, it is scary thing to have when my wife or one of the kids in the vehicle with me. *tr

My wife and i was driving on a asphalt country road traveling around 40 mph and both the driver's side and passenger's side roof top air bags deployed for no apparent reason. we didn't swerve or turn the steering wheel in anyway. we was driving straight down the road when it happened. *tr

I notice a crack on my dash board in the seam of the air bag front left side- and then inspected the dash board to find another crack over the steering hump of the dash board heading down toward the vent of the dash board. as i researched this issue i have found several owners with the same issue some under warranty and others not. the issue is the dash board is cheaply made and may cause severe damage if in an accident and since it is located near the air bag it could cause injury. *tr

The air bag light came on and we took it to the dealership. the dealers tested it out and replaced the sensor and it still did not fix it. now they want us to pay a lot of money to run the test and have them figure out what is wrong. i am reading a lot of blogs and complaints about the same thing and i can't figure out why they haven't issued a recall especially since these airbags will not deploy. *tr

Upon inspection of the dashboard it has cracked both above the steering wheel on the left side and at the corner of the airbag on the passenger side. i am concerned that if this cracks any worse the airbag may deploy and injure a passenger or it may cause the steering column to malfunction if the dashboard falls. chevy should be recalling this so that no one is injured. *tr

I have cracks in my dashboard at the instrument panel and at the passenger air bag. i believe that this is from lack of quality as the truck has been kept in a garage. i believe it's a safety issue and needs to be addressed and recalled by gm especially considering the amount of people having the same issue.

Takata inflators was involved in a car accident on 02/28/2012 airbags didn't deploy and i was injured because of this suffered head injuries since then i haven't been the same from my head.

Chevy tahoe dash cracked and began breaking apart. crack above passenger airbag that would likely result in sharp projectiles if airbag deployed. crack also occurred above instrument cluster. dash was replaced in january 2012 and then cracked and had to be replaced again approx. 1.5 years later in 2013. this is a major defect. a google search of chevy tahoe/suburban cracked dash will illustrate the extent of this defect.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact was driving 50 mph when the side curtain air bags deployed inadvertently and caused the seat belts to tighten. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer advised the contact to speak with their insurance company in regard to the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 80,000.

Takata inflators i live in the northeast region and i believe my car is affected by the deflation of the airbags. also i have an electrical issue where some of the speakers would work and then have a short and now the vehicle outlets in the front has stopped working. while driving i noticed the speakers would work and then short and come back on . not all the front speakers are not putting out any sound and the outlets stopped working. lastly the dash has been cracking . the crack starts from the driverside and ends in the center of the front dash. i happen to get in the car and notice a crack in the dash that gradually started to get bigger. *tr

The dashboard has been cracking and continues to including portions near and around the airbags. *tr

Takata recall ad more. 2007 chevy tahoe lt3. first denied claim on cracked dashboard as warranty was up. then chevy recalls chrome interior door handles, but my tahoe is no in the recall. my kids have cut their hands on the peeling handles i took it to gm the said too bad your mileage is to great we wont honor recall furthermore your vehicles is not listed in recall. how is it not listed when all chrome interior handled vehicles where recalled? they told me to take a hike. now i have had a air bag recall for over a year, and a very cracked dash which gm will not fix. if the "recalled" air bags did as they have done and the state of my dash there will be significant injury to occupants. gm does not care, they have addressed the situation numerous times and nothing they are doing is correcting the issue.

There cracks on my dash...after looking around the internet , this a big problem..i called gm, and the rep told me that they where not going to fix it at this time so i asked when will a good time be. they refused to fix it and my vehicle is still under warranty.if this air bag deploys it is going to cause some serious damage or death to someone, this needs to be a mandatory recall.

Craked dashboard.

I have two problems to report first my gas pedal sticks to floor if i turn my floor mat upside down when my shoes are dirty gas pedal catches and sticks to floor under acceleration very scary and unsafe. second problem is my dash cracked above my passenger air bag and i am afraid if it deploys the broken dash will come off with air bag and hit passenger in face causing injury or worse. i have read online of many other same year and vehicle with the same problems and would apriciate you looking into these before someone is injured thank you. *tt

My dash is cracking in two places above my airbags. the cracks are causing my dash to bulge. it has been brought to my attention that numerous 2007 tahoe's and yukon's all have dash cracks in the same areas. i have contacted gm about this problem and have not received any help. i am worried it will affect my airbags deploying. *tr

Cracked front dash on right side near air bag afraid that it could deploy prematurely. *tr

Cracks surrounding airbag

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. while driving approximately 55 mph the side air bags of both the front and rear of the vehicle deployed. the contact stated that he was not involved in any crash nor did he hit any debris. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they informed him of the repairs and that he would be responsible for the repair cost. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that an inspector would inspect the vehicle but did not say when. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I own a 2007 chevy tahoe. one morning while driving, i applied my brakes and changed lanes to avoid getting hit. my side curtain air bags deployed without any explaination. i called gm to report the incident, they sent an investigator who came out the very next day to inspect my vehicle. he took pictures of my vehicle and downloaded the sensor information. the gm manager told me that the air bags deployed as they should have in an event of a rollover. it was evident that the rollover never happened as there was no other damage to my vehicle. gm denied any fault and denied my claim to get the air bags and my seat belts fixed. i contacted my insurance company, who also inspected my vehicle and replied that the car had a mechanical malfunction and that gm should be liable for my damages. gm has closed my claim and will not talk to me any more. gm has done nothing to correct this failure in my opinion. my vehicle is still under gm extended vehicle warranty and they are not willing to fix it under that claim either. *tr

2007 chevy tahoe. dashboard cracked around airbags. concerned that air bags may not for properly operate if needed. gm rufuses to anything about. i see this is a big problem among tahoe owners per customer blogs. *tr

Dash board crack. the crack appears to have compromised the dashboard all the way to the passenger-side airbag and a much larger crack above the instrument panel. if something were to happen...i was in a wreck, and the airbag were to deploy...there's shards of dash going through the cab. i am the original owner on this 2007 tahoe.

My dash cracked, on it's own. i'm sure this has to effect my airbag functionality. i have a huge crack on my driver's side behind the steering wheel. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that while the vehicle was idling in the park position, the roof-mounted air bags in the front suddenly deployed. the contact called the manufacturer who sent an investigator out to perform a diagnostic test. the investigator concluded that the air bags did deploy while the vehicle was in park. the contact no longer wanted the vehicle. the current and failure mileages were 48,286.

It's actually the very common dashboard cracks, which inevitably will effect my airbag in the event on an accident. after an accident happens, it'll be too late. i purchased a used 2007 tahoe with an extended warranty in 2010. i've had the very cracked dash replaced 4 times by chevy while under warranty - with them fighting it. if possible, i think the very quality of the plastic decreased since problems arose originally. my dash is now cracked worse than all others previously installed by chevy, allowing me to see the thickness quite clearly, and it appears much much much thinner than the original dash. no matter what, this is wrong and extremely dangerous. not only can this effect my airbags, but the sharp edges and nature of the plastic allows for it to become deadly projectiles. a $40,000+ vehicle should not have these issue. nor should a $5 vehicle for that matter. chevy is jeopardizing the lives of numerous customers all in the hopes of saving money - not lives!! please send chevy an unmissable message and force a recall. this will only worsen and increase with time. due to the extremely popular problem, there is no way chevy will be able to deny knowledge after someone is killed. a life will be lost due to this. it's just a matter of when and how many. it's impossible for me to give exact dates as to when each dash was replaced over the last 6 years, but i'm on my 5th dash and i'm not the original owner. my current and 5th dash has 3 cracks that get caught in the wind and lift when the windows or sunroof are open. pretty crazy. pretty dangerous. and chevy has known all these years!! shameful. and you allow it.

I have had the dash crack in 4 different places; two on the driver side on each side of the steering column and two other around the airbag. the two around the airbag have made it so that there is free piece of plastic that is not secured by anything. i am afraid that if the air bag was to deploy then this piece would cause great bodily harm to anyone in the vehicle. the manufacturer knows of this issue and is not offering to replace the dash without some sort of compensation. *tr

Serious and extensive cracking of the dashboard above the instrument cluster and at the passenger side air bag. the crack would cause dangerous caving of the entire dashboard area in the event of a crash and could interupt the efficient deployment of the airbag system.
