Takata recall i have been in contact with all general motors dealers in the river parishes area. all told me that chevrolet general motors have instructed all dealers not to repair any air bags because of this problem because it was not proven that these air bags are defective as told. i have very serious osteoporosis to the point if these air bags go off because of this defect, i will be crippled for life. my bones will not break - they will crush. this is a very critical situation and of utmost importance to get this fixed. all other vehicle manufacturers have changed their air bags - only chevrolet is refusing! is there anything that can be done so that i can ride in peace and not be put in a dangerous situation such as this. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Takata recall - i would prefer to have my passenger air bag disabled until repair parts are available because i have survived frontal collision with seat belt use but i don't think my odds are as good with shrapnel flying at my head at 200 mph from a defective takata inflator. my dealer would not disconnect the pressure switch to the passenger air bag.
Takata recall i was notified in july 2016 by gm that my vehicle is on a recall list for defective takata air bags. gm has had sufficient time to provide available parts to remedy my vehicle. however, my gm dealer says the parts are still not available. i live in alabama, a hot-weather state with very high humidity and need the air bags in my vehicle replaced as soon as possible.
Takata recall / gm recall 49152. my wife & i received the aforementioned recall from gm. in the body of the recall letter it states that takata had decided our passenger side airbag is defective. gm states they will issue a recall unless the can prove the airbags are not defective. so, i called gm to see what is the time frame to complete this investigation. gm could not provide me with any information on how long it would be for gm to finish it's investigation. in fact gm didn't even indicate they have started yet. this is unacceptable to me as a consumer. now i'm left with a car i purchased new from gm and am not able to use the vehicle for it's intended purpose. one has to assume that gm did their due diligence when purchasing the airbags and now that a recall has been issued by the manufacturer that decision is not good enough for gm. it's obvious to me the longer it takes for gm to prove the recall is not warranted the fewer recalled vehicles will be on the road which i have no doubt will be a benefit to gm but certainly not to the consumer. the simple question "how long will gm's investigation to prove to nhtsa's safitsfaction the recall is not needed take?". this leaves the consumer in a situation with no idea of when a resolution to the problem will come.

Takata recall , previous gm recall complaint #49152. it has been a year and a half since nhtsa and chevrolet was notified of my request to have passenger side airbag replaced. my chevrolet dealership (country chevrolet) denied my request to have airbag turned off until replacement parts were obtained. every time my wife rides in the passenger seat she is putting her life at risk. instead of the government taking these big fines against the companies, why don't they buy the air bags to replace the defective ones. do you think that 18 months is an acceptable time table for fixing a national recall? it is no wonder the average citizen is so disgusted by the snail like pace that the federal government works. it seems as if our government agrees with these behemoth corporations that it is easier and less costly to just pay the family after they have lost a loved one than to proactively solve the problems.

My car was purchased new in december 2006. in july 2016, i received a safety recall notification from gm regarding the takata airbag, recall 49151. i have been checking in quarterly with my local dealer, now cavender chevrolet, boerne, tx and receive the same answer that the replacement part is not available. most recently, the dealer representative indicated that the vehicle may not ever be fixed. the car currently has 96,494 miles and i am still in fear for my wife and passengers that has to sit on that side of the vehicle. what are my liabilities if an injury or death occurs due to this problem? i can't even sell or trade the vehicle due to this recall notice and have postponed many long trips due to this issue. the vehicle works well otherwise with no other issues. some help is definitely needed to remedy this situation!! i can forward a copy of gm's recall notification if needed. thanks you in advance.

Takata recall - there is an active recall on this vehicle - the dealership refuses to implement the recall based on an internal memo from chevrolet which instructs the dealership to not comply with the terms of the recall mandate based on an assertion that gm is challenging the need for the recall based on statistical evidence gathered in the execution of prior recalls. the recall remains outstanding for over 2 years putting passengers in my vehicle at risk of serious injury. - therefore we are unable to utilize the vehicle in the manner for which it is designed, to carry passengers other than the driver in a safe manner. i am not going to put my personal wealth and the life of my passengers at risk.
