I got out of work and the service airbag light came on so immediately i turned it off and started my truck again thinking it was just something weird that didn't register right. it has sence been 3 day so i looked up recalls on my truck and the recalls were for my 09 truck but my vin didn't quite match the "affected" vehicles. i was stationary and it was snowing outside. the recall said there was an acoustic pad that prevented the sensor from working correctly.

This is a recall that i am unable to afford to fix myself. i am just expected to ride around in my truck and hop nothing happens? or if i am hit that the air bags don't malfunction? while this may not be a specific incident right in this present moment, i am worried my wife will be filing this out because i have died, or seriously injured myself. why has this recall been allowed to go on for so long? i am lower middle class struggling to make ends meet. i dont have hundreds of dollars to repair this issue.
Crack in dash board neat passenger airbag. may break off during deployment and cause injury.
My air bag makes a small noise and my air bag light is on ...check air bag
Cracksi n dash around passenger air bag, concerns are: flying shrapnel during deployment
Dashboard cracking behind airbag and over the speedo cluster. may cause plastic shrapnel if airbag is deployed injuring occupants.
Broken plastic dash board( top plastic) leaving sharp jagged edges around airbag panel on passengers side where airbag deploys. dash cracks in other multiple locations above instrument cluster with sharp plastic broken pieces on drivers side near instrument cluster. vehicle is garage kept and i use a windshield shade in the sun. vehicle had 8000 miles on it. new breaks continue to develop on dash board from thermal expansion and material structural failure of the dash board top plastic. also has dis-coloration on the airbag panel plastic panel on the passenger side dash board. dash board airbag panel looks to be deteriorating and may possibly fragment in an airbag deployment. i have concerns with facial lacerations and contusions if a bag deploys and this panel along with other sharp broken dash board plastic fragments become projectiles for both the driver and passenger on the upper torso, face, arms and potential blindness from an eye injury from sharp dashboard plastic fragmentation intrusion. newest cracks on the drivers side were witness on a warm day recently when i entered the car i heard a crack as i shut the drivers door. the airbag i noticed in september of 2015 in the left corner of the airbag cover, the forward most corner of the dash that is around the passenger airbag. the passenger air bag plastic panel recently shows sign of white discoloration streaks through the plastic and will not cleanup. plastic look as if it is deteriorating and changing color. i'm very concerned with this panel as this deploys with airbag on the passengers side. also concerned that the driver airbag cover on the steering wheel looks to be made of the same material and that fragmentation may occur here as well in a airbag deployment.

Same as many others.crack on dash board left corner connecting to air bag. crack on top of dash board above gauges.
Cracked dashboard near passenger airbag. can present a hazard if passenger airbag deploys and the dashboard fails in a way that can send broken pieces, injuring the passenger more severely during a collision.
2009 chevy silverado 1500 lt has a big crack on the dashboard on top of the airbag for the front passenger side.
I have a concern about the dash board around the passenger air bag. . the dash is cracking around the plastic cover and i know of 2 other trucks that have done the same thing? i have read different articles about people who have had the same issues and the dealer tells them it's too bad and they will not warrant the repairs. this to me is a very very bad safety matter just because if you are in a bad wreck and the air bag does deploy there is a good chance the dash will pop the bag if it doesn't blow the dash board up and send plastic projectiles flying all over the place possibly blinding or killing you from the scrapnal plastic pieces. has anyone else complained about the dash boards being defective?
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the dashboard had cracks that progressed from the middle to the front passenger side of the vehicle. the cracks could affect the safety of the air bag components. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags), but the contact did not receive a notification. a dealer had not been contacted yet to diagnose and repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified years later. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Takata recall no parts available to honor recall repair
Vehicle was parked for the day while i worked. entered and started vehicle, the vehicle message center indicated "service airbags" message. the message would come and go which made it difficult for the dealer to determine the problem. in november of 2013 the service airbag message stayed on, took vehicle in and had the front passanger side airbag sensor replaced. this resolved the problem. one month later (december 2013) the same thing happened and it turned out to be the front drivers side airbag sensor. had the sensor replaced, resolved the problem. *tr
1.) i have noticed that i have two cracks on my dash board 2ft 8"inches apart . 2.) my main concern is the crack on the left side of the passenger air bag 1"inch long into the air bag compartment grove. 3.) i have only 2,189 miles on my truck. *tr
My dash board is cracked and getting worse as the crack grows. the crack is behind the passenger side airbag and will cause the airbag to deploy in an unsafe maner and also cause extra debrie to fly around when the airbag does deploy due to the faulty dash that affects 2007-2013 gm trucks and suv's
We have a dash crack from driver side to passenger side not all the way just cracks in different areas; however what worries us the most is the 2" crack at the left hand corner of where the passenger airbag is. the specific area is top left hand corner of the airbag seam there is a crack and i truly worry about the airbag deploying and shooting plastic pieces everywhere from that crack.
Takata recall - been waiting 4 months for parts at the dealer and i live in a high heat - high humidity area. was in an accident in november 2010 and luckily the airbag did not deploy.

2000 chevrolet silverado 1500. consumer states his wife was involved in an accident and the airbags did not deploy *tgw
Takata recall. there has not been an air bag incident with this vehicle but it is driven daily and feel unsafe with a dangerous weapon in my face every time it is operated. i have not received any notification from chevrolet that the air bags are recalled. notice came from nhtsa. contact with local chevrolet dealer told me to call a toll number at gm but they told me that they had not received any money from takata so they could do nothing.
Takata recall
Takata recall, i am still waiting for the recall to replace the airbags on my truck. as you probably know it has been at least two years that we received the notice of the recall. i was just at airbag recall.com and it tells me only the passigner airbag is to be replaced because of the propellant will degrade over time and could rupture and cause body harm and even fatal injury. so why does not the drivers airbag need to be changed as well? i know this isn't the only complaint that you folks have received on this matter, and as days go by we the public are in danger each time we use the vehicle, tis a sad situation. thank your for your time.
