The 2003 silverado 1500 short bed pu u-joints keep going out. have replaced them atleast 6 times. pu had 30,000 when purchased in 2006. there has to be something in the build of the pu that is causing this problem, don't matter what kind of tires i put on the pu it has a vibration all the time. the vibration could be whats causing the u-joints to go out. i have had 10 ply tires on it for off road use and now i'm running highway tires and still have the vibration, so i don't think it has to do with the tires it's more of a design in build problem rether than a mechanical problem i think. *tr

On friday, june 21, 2014 while on a friends property in placerville, ca, my spare tire fell off the underside of the bed of my truck. i'd bought the truck new in 2003 and don't recall ever having used the tire since i bought it new. i was able to find a couple of the parts that secured the spare under the bed of the truck. in one sense, i was glad it didn't happen while on a freeway doing 65 mph. what a catastrophe that would have been for other drivers behind me. the vehicle is not used for off-road purposes. *tr

I was extremely lucky because i had just gotten off the freeway and was pulling into the parking lot of the auction that i was attending. when i heard a noise i parked the truck and looked back to see a woman rolling a tire towards me. she said you lost your tire. sure enough the tire along with the mechanism that drops and raises the tire came off the frame. i`m so glad it happened in the parking lot and not on the free way. *tr

Tread on michelin ltx m/s separated and caused damage to the wheel well and quarter panel of my 2003 chevy silverado. the tire had less than 18,000 miles on it and was properly inflated before the trip began. the right rear tire tread separated at approx. 60 - 65 mph and the truck was steered to the shoulder of the road. no injuries were sustained. the fiberglass wheel well and quarter panel sustained cracks and broken mounting brackets. *tr

General tire lt 225/75/r16 load d tread came off. it was a new tire with 15,000 miles on it. july 5 another tire on same vehicle the tread came off. july 6 same vehicle another general tire tread came off. july 12 rt front tire tread came off. tire pressure was checked before and after each incident. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated there were cracks in the sidewall of all four tires. some of the cracks were bilateral, and some of the cracks were all the way around the tire. they were also located near the bead of the tire. the vehicle was not taken in for service.

While traveling about 20 mph on a dirt road, a popping noise was heard. the front and rear passenger tires went flat. goodyear, wrangler st p245/75r16 *ak (the right rear tire was flat, and the right front was attempting to go flat) *scc *jb

I just bought a c1500 regular cab short bed truck. i was appalled to find out that the tires are rated at 950 lbs. at max load of 44psi. the trucks dry curb weight is listed at 4142 lbs. and max pay load is 1958. these numbers indicated that the truck chevrolet supplied is on tires that are not even rated to hold the truck empty! i can't use my truck to haul or carry anything without exceeding the tire manufactures rating. the tires are goodyear wrangler st p235/75r16 (passenger care tires?) i do not think i should drive this truck on these tires. i want gm to replace them with tires that are rated to the capacities of the truck that i bought on the assumptions given in the chevy truck brochures supplied at the dealerships. the tires on the truck are not even lt (light truck) and are a safety issue. this is a copy of what i submitted to the chevrolet.com website. i do not fault thorobred chevrolet dealership for this but do expect some corrective action. this truck was sold to me in an unsafe condition. *jb there has not been an incident thanks for your time please respond asap [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
