Takata recall. while driving on a city street, truck suddenly lost power and shut off in the middle of an intersection, while i was turning.i tried several times to start it but nothing. i believed it to be the catalytic converter, and had it towed to a muffler shop. after fixing the problem truck still would not crank. i had to have it towed once again to my residence. before this i would have to make 2-3 attempts to crank the truck before it would start. also prior to this i noticed i have not been getting as good of gas mileage as i should and the truck would not accelerate as it should. i have done research and seen a number of people with my same model truck have several issues with their fuel pump.
The rear fuel tank strap holding the fuel tank to the frame of the vehicle has rusted/corroded and failed. the result was the tank strap separating from the portion near where the strap bolts to the frame. the vehicle was in motion on primary city roads during this issue. the separated fuel tank strap then rubbed against the rear portion of the drive shaft near the rear axle housing. this caused it to separate from the vehicle and enter the roadway. after the retaining strap failed, the rear portion of the fuel tank was then hanging dangerously low towards the roadway.
Fuel pump went out while driving on the highway (very dangerous). truck just die while driving. have it check to learn the fuel pump is needs to replace. i did a little research and find out this is a common problem to this truck ... recall?
My brake line rusted out causing brake failure and my fuel line rusted out causeing fuel leak. the brakes went out in motion fuel line also.
Brake lines completely rusted thru, had to replace all lines, fuel lines recently leaked and upon inspection are found to be completely rust as well, bad material used in these lines, big safety issue with leaking fuel and inability to stop when brakes go out
While looking at my truck after getting it back from the shop getting all 4 of the brake lines replaced, i noticed the fuel lines are leaking and extremely corroded. i have always been a chevy lover, and this is my first nice vehicle i have ever owned. bought used in september of 2014. so far we have noticed that just about every recall from the past was never fixed on our truck, so we had to shell out almost $900 to replace the brake lines front to back. now the fuel lines, the windshield seems loose, these are all recalls from the past. it doesn't make sense to put a time frame on recalls considering some people may never find out til it's too late, and others may not find out til someone gets hurt. *tr
On multiple occasions the vehicle has lost power at highway speed and the engine dies. after a few attempts the engine restarts and operates normally for an unpredictable interval. this has happened at least 10 times. the authorized dealer and other mechanic shops have not been able to diagnose the reason for the power failure as they have not been able to cause it to duplicate failure when they have it. this sudden unexpected condition is very dangerous when it occurs and renders the vehicle unusable for anything other than short usage. *js
The bolts are broken off in the manifold, after checking you-tube i found this is a problem the gm has chosen to ignore. *tr
Fuel leaking from fuel line near front of gas tank. upon inspection, fuel line was rotted through. further inspection by mechanic found fuel and vapor return lines were all corroded and needed to be replaced. a leaking fuel line could cause a fire. all brake lines were replaced two years ago due to corrosion and failure of a brake line while driving due to the corrosion. chevy dealer refused to repair the broken line, insisting that all brake lines must be replaced due to the corrosion. rear brake shields have also rotted away, and the differential cover is also rotting. these will also require replacement. none of the corroded parts described here have any kind of coatings to prevent corrosion. brake and fuel line corrosion are common problems on this model and year, and chevrolet or nhtsa do not appear to be able or willing to do anything about it. *tr
On 09/10/13, 1:45 pm, i was driving east on s.r. 73 near i-75 intersection. as i approached the intersection traveling approximately 35 mph, the light changed to yellow. i braked somewhat hard and the brake pedal went to the floor board. there was no braking control at all and i proceeded through the red signal. approximately 500 feet after going through the intersection i managed to stop in the median. fortunately, although traffic was heavy, no contact occurred. immediate inspection revealed a brake line rusted through. i trailered the truck to a chevrolet dealer who found not only "all" the brake lines were dangerously rusted, but the gas lines also were dangerously rusted. the dealer stated this was a common occurrence with chevrolet silverado. replacement of these items required removing the truck bed which revealed the brake rotor backing plates rusted "away." severe frame and component rust was also found. only repaired brake and gas lines. cost, $1,765.11 oh, by the way, the "service brake system" warning light came on after brake failure.
My son [xxx] wanted a 4x4 truck so this guy [xxx] said his was for sale he could test drive it,well the 4x4 did not work on the truck the minute my son shifted it in to 4 wheel drive the tire rod and something else,so my daughters father [xxx] works on vehicles and sales them too. well i asked [xxx] to help get my sons truck back from [xxx] and fix nicks truck so we could have a vehicle because we were sharing one vehicle. nick wanted and [xxx] wanted finally [xxx] fixed [xxx] truck and when we got my son truck back it was making a noise,so [xxx] said he thinks its the fuel pump no big deal,i said ok. he gave me and estimate to fix nicks truck of 2000.00, well someone at [xxx]"s was ripping me off it was only 600.00 r around that amount. well me and my husband were going through a bad divorce he had just sign over the title and registration to me,and it was left in glove box my fault,but he forged the documents plus cash a 500.00 check that i stopped payment on. i made to police reports plus there's 2 911 calls where we r chasing him but the speed was getting out of hand i told my son to back off,we paid 1500.00 for the truck our life is worth more. i got the complaint numbers cops did nothing. went to dmv he tried twice there to switch it they turned him down,so he went to a title company in lafayette,la on johnston street and got it done. plus i paid my insurance for six months ahead, i reported it to progressive they were mailing my refund check,he stole that and applied it back i think he r someone got in a wreck and tried to claim a insurance claim. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Vehicle will suddenly decrease power and the message "engine power reduced" shows on message display. first time was 9/8/2012. last time was feb 24, 2015. has done this at 25 mph on a city street, 35 mph city street twice, and 55 mph on highway. supposedly repaired three times. am afraid to use vehicle as usually tow 5th wheel and do not want it to do this while towing.
An odor of gasoline was emanating from the vehicle. the servicing dealer diagnosed rusted through fuel lines, all of which had to be replaced. *tr
Brake line rusted out. started the truck and when i pushed on the pedal it went to the floor. i lived in indiana for 8 years of owning the truck. i have lived in florida for the last two years. all lines from the front of the truck to the abs modulator are rusted. the rear line is ok. the problem is exacerbated by running the lines where they are. the fuel lines appear to have a similar problem but have not yet failed. *tr
The under side of truck is rusting out. all the calipers, brake lines, and fuel lines are rusted badly. i have had to replace two brake lines already. also the frame is rusted. *tr
Sound coming from transmission when push on gas,no power on right side gear light doesn't work i service 4 wd it's tell me to service i start up it's picks which gear (stationary) door on right stop working lost all power.
