Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES, AIR problems on 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

We had brake lining failures which result in total loss of brakes. lucky for us we just got off of a main road into a parking lot. advised by an independent repair shop that this is a common problem with this vehicle make model and year. we had two breaks and lost all brake fluid instantly. repair shop said the entire system of brake linings needed to be replaced in our truck at a cost of $827.00! *js

Was informed during a state inspection that all of my metal brake lines need to be replaced due to heavy corrosion. the inspection was done at the dealer where truck was purchased and i was told the corrosion was probably from not putting many miles on it. *tr *js

Brakes are soft and brake pedal travels almost to the floor when is pushed requiring a substantial amount of foot pressure to get the vehicle to stop in a timely manner and distance. vehicle has a new brake master cylinder, new brake pads, new rotors, and new brake fluid. chevrolet customer service was called and they stated the vin has not been recalled for service brake failures for the hydro-boost relief valve recall (id # 04v045000) or faulty corroded brake lines. *js

Low speed abs activation on 2003 chevrolet silverado. gm - wake - up. there is a nonconforming item in the abs system. fix your problem. i have put in a new unit on the drivers side, however, this has not solved the problem. i will try the passengar side next. i will submit my cost to gm to get my money back.

My complaint is the braking system on my 2003 chevrolet silverado 1500 extended cab, 4x4 truck. the brakes have always felt spongy. after complaining about the "low" brake pedal, my dealer advised that i needed to have my rear rotors repaired & the rear brake shoes replaced., so i had the work done. one week later, i again complained that now when i'm stopped at a traffic light, the brake pedal would go even lower. the braking system was checked out, the master cylinder was checked, & i was told everything was ok, there were no leaks. i was also told that this was the biggest complaint about this truck. i have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. in the first few months of owning the vehicle, the wiper blade was defective, thus scratching the windshield. i had to complain to get the windshield replaced & the wiper repaired. also withing the first few months after purchasing, the 4x4 switch had to be replaced. the truck would not shift out of 4 wheel drive low. another complaint that the dealer was notified within the first year of ownership was the wind noise due to a faulty door gasket on the driver's side. this was not replaced, only temporarily fixed, which only corrected the problem for a short while. recently, the engine light came on, the o2 oxygen sensor had to be replaced. within a month, the engine light came on again, this time it is a stuck open valve solonoid dealing with the emmission system of which i was given an estimate of 364.00 to reapair, this would not be covered under the extended warranty of the vehicle. this vehicle is only 2 years old, & i'm tired of having to take the time to get it to the dealer's for repairs. *ak

Five times truck (17 months old and 21000 miles) has been to dealerships for "service 4 wheel drive" message center indicator, abs light, parking brake light, alarms, and inoperable. also problems with clanking felt through the steering wheel. every time truck was "fixed" by replacing/reprogramming the transfer case module, and lubing of steering column (which manufacture indicates was a poor lube job at construction). problem recurred. now dealership informs that the manufacture issued a tsb that instructs dealerships to not replace modules anymore, as gm is aware of problem and new modules will be not fix the problem. were told that gm engineers are "investigating" it. now, if module fails again, our 4-whhel drive truck will be without 4-wheel drive. date is of first incident. numerous tsbs have been posted concerning these problems, gm does not respond. date indicated is date of first problem at 8000 miles. *ak
