Tranny, abs, cooling system, tailgate, etc. i bought the truck 2003 didn't exchange title until later recall when i first bought it under 50,000 mile warranty. i file an complain recall repair still having same problem. sad thing my father is an retired employee in dallas location. researched the recalls from previously and present same results. they have until 2 days to contact me @ [xxx] in going to the warehouse and return the vehicle to the owner, cfo, ceo whomever and ask for a full refund or i'm filing an complaint and small clams for 30 yrs worth. Tl*the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 1500 equipped with a dorman exterior door handle. while opening the rear drivers side door the contact's hand was cut on the door handle as it detached from the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to diagnose or repair the door handle. the failure and current mileages were 90,000. the vin was unavailable.
I have had to replace my fuel sending unit/pump twice. why do they keep failing? *tr
Normal driving less than 10 miles. the failures are many and often. transmission failures every few thousand miles. always leaks trans flds all over streets and driveways. service engine light on. chevrolet dealer erased failure and diagnostic codes to gouge consumer, many times. parking brake cable snapped in two on driveway. abs failures at low speeds and engine klacks loud when starting. i am original owner of a defective 2001 chevrolet silverado. the last time gmpp with gm dealer repair the underwarranty repairs took 6 weeks there are only 26.000 miles on this truck. obviously this is a defect in its design and application. (see ptior complaints) tires flew off, altering of service contracts on and on. *tr
I bought a new chevy silverado 1500 4x4 in july of 2001. i don't drive it that much, and when i do, it is mostly freeway miles. about 5 times/year i'll tow a light boat to puget sound, and after coming back always hose off the boat, trailer, and salt water exposed area of the truck. in 2004 at 6770 miles, the rear rotors, calipers and pads were ruined (under warranty--cause determined to be debris caught up in mechanism). good chevrolet fixed perfectly. now in march 2008 at only 18,700 miles (12k miles on new brakes), the rear brakes need to be completely rebuilt. good is saying the cause is salt water. and of course the warranty is long over----looking at $2000 to fix. i say hogwash! brakes should not fall apart after 12,000 gentle miles. i don't four wheel drive except on rare occasion to get over the mountain pass---and that's on snow. i am easy with this truck. i don't speed around and slam on the brakes ever. never. i am pretty sure this is a common problem. just googled up a similar case of a 2002 silverado in colorado with 28,000 miles and complete brake failure due to rust. i'll repair brakes elsewhere. i'll wait and see if some class action lawsuit comes of this. it's too bad. the truck is pretty nice, but having brakes fall apart for no good reason is bs and too expensive, not to mention as well as a big safety concern. *tr
Parking brake and fuel gage. i recently moved overseas with af and had to have my vehicle inspected for european standards. my parking break did not work at all. i found this hard to believe since i have never used it. i was mandated by european law to get fixed in order to drive it and pay a $30 for each month until i got it fixed. my fuel gage doesn't maintain how much fuel i have in my gas tank. when i have a full or empty tank the gauge just randomly boucess around with the unknown correct amount. i am currently setting the mileage until i can find someone to fix it and the parts i need. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact had to replace the tire holder underneath his vehicle after it failed. as a result, the spare tire rolled onto the road. the replacement holder failed approximately one year later. the contact has had to place spare tires in the back of his vehicle. the road conditions were normal at the time of the failures. the vin was unknown. the current mileage was 107,000 and failure mileage was 75,000.
Brake rotors corroded completely , emergency brake rusted completely , massive rust under truck , brake calipers rusted , power steering went out ,a.c. fan went out, short in wiring in door locks and windows, this a 2001, 56,000, miles, low mileage truck to have so many problems, the dealership said they had not seen this problem before, i looked it up, there is rusting and total corrosion of the brake rotors in many different states, over along period of time, even when the rotors are replaced they are rusting completely again. chevy is selling an expensive truck, and then profiting again on the replacement of the defective parts, and making a premium profit on that too.! they are not bothering to fix a defect that has been going on for a long time. very disgusted with the chevy silverado, my first and last chevy. *nm
