2006 monte carlo ss with failing transmission at 85,000 miles...dealer wants $2900 - $5100 to fix repair, and offered to cover any expenses over $2000. they agreed that this is a known issue. i asked for an additional $500 so my total out of pocket would only be $1500. they denied. i am looking for assistance to get this resolved as it is a known issue.... can you offer some guidance and direction on what i can do? dealer is lawrence chevrolet and the goodwill claim guy is named [xxx]. I own a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo, the tire pressure low system malfunctions without any notice, if my car were a impala gm would fix it but since it is a discontinued model they refuse to do anything. there is a great deal of discussion on the net about this issue along with remote start/ lock problem from what i understand that is a problem they do not honor. *tr
I heard a noise in my steering. it would make the noise when you turn the wheel left or right. i took it to the dealership to be fixed. the first time(1/5/07) i took it in they replaces both inner and outer tie rod boots. the second time(4/4/07) they said there was nothing. the third time they greased it. the fourth time(9/19/07) they replaced intermediate shaft. the fifth time(11/14/07) replaced shaft again. *tr
2006 monte carlo has had problems with the seat belt and air bag failure. *ts the air bag light illuminated. diagnostics were run but no problems were found. when the air bags failed, this caused an issue with the onstar system. the air bag light was on while someone was sitting in the passenger seat. this meant that the air bag was not activated. the seat belt indicator light illuminated. the dealer replaced and reprogrammed the sdm. the onstar system had been replaced once. the air conditioner has been replaced once. the keyless entry system has been replaced and reprogrammed numerous times. there has also been a problem with the traction control system not functioning. *nm
