I purchased 2017 chevrolet malibu in 03/ 2017 with approximately 7 miles at the ourisman rockmont chevrolet, located in rockville, maryland. at about 20,000 (12/23/2018) miles i brought the car into the dealership to have it diagnosed as i had a near death experience when i was stopped at a red light & then tried to accelerate when the light turned green except the car stalled once the emissions portion of the car tried to kick in, it cut off and did not restart in the middle of a 4 way intersection. i tried restarting the car for about 0 mins until then finally the acr restarted again. this occurence continued to happen peiodically, i am not sure what the cause of this reaction, but i let the dealership know if every instance and broughtthe car in to be checked at 20,000 miles, 24,000 , 26, 000 miles & 27,000 miles. i was told by the representative "guy" that gmc was notified and that i shouldn't continue to bring the car there. that was april 2018. unfortunately, the incident happened again while i was leaving the garage at work. car cut off another car almost slammed in the back of my car due the abruptness of the car going out. the ssue has never been addressed by the dealership and during the most recent incident august 2018 i took the car in to advise them of this issue in addition to a knocking sound in the rear of the car. i was told in august 2018 that i am outside of my warranty and that i would be charged a diagnostic fee. my car has about 50,000 miles currently. that is neither here or there. as the original issue was never addressed when it was under warranty and i am not willing to lose my life trying to have this car repaired in a timely fashion. instead i have spent hundreds of dollars in rental car fees as i am not comfortable driving in a car with an issue so severe that gmc was notified and still has not been to rectify this issue with my car.
Both mine and my wifes 2017 malibu goes in to reduce engine power mode with stability tack light on and service engine light on.and when it happens on the freeway car just drops to 25 miles an hour.very dangerous
I purchased my vehicle in september 2017 and at the beginning of june 2018, the check engine light would turn on and i'd get a message reading "engine power reduced". the turbo would be shut off. i took it back and forth to the dealership about 5 times before they finally replaced the turbo valve. nothing happened and all was fine until the beginning of october when it happened again. my partner and i took the car to another dealership and they said that it was a computer code reset issue. they said they reset it and it should be fine. within one week, it was back on. i don't know what to do at this point since each time i take it in, the service department sees the issue but they continually say nothing is wrong with the vehicle. the light comes on both while in motion and stationary, in my garage, in a parking lot, driving on suburban streets, on the highway, whenever. there's no specific movement that triggers this and no past or current recalls regarding this issue, though this has been a common complaint apparently for the malibu vehicles, according to one of the dealerships i took my vehicle to.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chevrolet malibu. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly decelerate to 10 mph or less. also, the vehicle failed to brake and almost caused several crashes. vandevere chevrolet (1490 vernon odom blvd, akron, oh 44320) replaced the accelerator pedal twice in six months and referred the contact to the manufacturer. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the contact filed a complaint with the better business bureau. the manufacturer gave the contact a case number after learning that she contacted the better business bureau. the failure mileage was 25,000.
My 2017 chevy malibu has been doing power engine reduced for awhile it's been to the dealership many times for this issue. i have almost been in to multiple car accidents because the car reduces speed while driving shouting my car down to go no faster then 20 mph. this is a major safety issue that chevy is giving me a run around about when obvious the car was sold to me like this. i have warranty on my car and they still have not fixed my car properly leaving me everyday at risk driving this unsafe car that can cause a major car accident especially when it dose it when i'm driving on the freeway which has happened three times already. i have all the paperwork for all the work that has been done to this car which is crazy since it's a new car. i need to know is there a recall on this engine in this car since they cannot fix the problem with my car. the first issue was my airbags then it was the suspension which i was told again the suspension are bad meaning they probably never fixed them along with this engine problem i'm having.
On or about may 17 and on may 22 2018, the engine stalled when i attempted to enter an intersection after stopping at a stop sign. the green "engine on" light remained illuminated. i had to push the engine start/stop button to turn the engine off, then push it again to restart the engine. after the may 22 incident, the car media system malfunctioned after the car was restarted. the screen displays were normal, but there was no sound from any source including the turn signals and 4 way flashers.
i service check engine light goes on most of the time. i have gone to repair shop around 15x times in a almost 2 years period. i have trouble doing my last inspection did not wanna past, they told me to run the car in high way for 20 miles non stop, dnt understand why i needed to do this. also at more times then i can remember the car didnt want to start it would after 10-15 min after i try to start it up, i feel motor jumps alot, and transmission not running normal as it should, i have done 2 cases with the headquaters in chicago but both times they close the caes and nothing was solved, and until this day i still have problems with this car
My 2017 malibu had a loss of engine power, it happened while on vacation. while in traffic on a dark curvy road, there was a sudden loss of power, the car would not accelerate and the engine light was on as well as a message indicating loss of engine power. i pulled over an restarted the vehicle, it did not gain full engine power back. i was able to slowly make it to my destination. the next morning (kids in tow) the engine light was still on, and the vehicle still seemed sluggish. while driving home ( or to a dealership if possible) the car again lost power and i had to pull over as to not obstruct traffic. upon getting the vehicle serviced, they claim the matter was resolved i am not confident,
Car has always ran a little rough, we were told by chevy there was nothing wrong everything was normal. on our way home from family vacation in the mountains, the car lost power, engine light came on. thankfully we were able to make it to an autozone and we were told it was misfiring in cylinder 1. we then took the car to chevy, we were told they couldn't see the problem and the mechanic who takes the engine apart to check was bust the next couple of days. so the car was in the shop for a week before were told there is a cracked piston and they will be replacing the pistons and gaskets. if i didn't work in the car rental business, i would think my car was great and ready to live forever, but i do. so i know, we have had several malibu's and cruz's with the same engine have the same problem and after 10k miles the pistons crack again. we get the car back and it is running more rough than it used to, now were waiting for the engine to cut out again. i am not looking forward to my cars engine cutting out on the highway again because chevy cannot find a fix for their bum engine. with only 12k miles left of the warranty. *tr
Car do not accelerate
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the doors would not lock or unlock when attempting to enter or exit the vehicle. also, on several occasions, the engine would not start and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to rush chevrolet (1395 w. highway 290, elgin, tx). the dealer replaced the remote door lock, but the cause of the engine failure was not determined. the manufacturer was notified. the vin was invalid. the failure mileage was 2,700.
When the car comes to a stop i can hear rushing water in the dashboard. i have had this checked by the dealer shop. they found nothing. the problem is still there.
My 2017 chevrolet malibu exploded and caught fire after it had been parked for hours on the street. it started from under the hood and melted the passenger side of the dashboard. mechanical/electrical defect from the engine of the car.
I have a recurring emission issue diagnostic test code p2097 general motors has admitting to not knowing what is wrong with my vehicle. i purchased the vehicle brand new the emission issue is ongoing recurring and my vehicle is up for state inspection for which it will not pass, this issue began at mile 3007 i've owned the car for less than 2 years. the vehicle came without air conditioning for which it was equipped that issue begin at mile 598. i have had multiple systems issues. i have lost my job over this car this issue has not been corrected with several attempts to repair it. i want general motors to repurchase the vehicle with no usage being charged. this has been an issue that is caused my personal life and my professional life severe distress. i literally have lost everything after having lost my job over this defective vehicle. the vehicle had an accelerator pedal assembly replaced which prior to that my car was going into limp mode / safe mode constantly. this is an issue general motors is aware of and has continued to sell this model vehicle with its known defects which in my opinion is extremely dangerous given the resulting characteristics the car displays once going into reduced engine power / limp mode this would occur while driving on the highway early morning late night hours i would have to pull over unexpectedly and suddenly, unhook my battery terminals and reset the computer manually. it would happen on side streets, on main roads, sitting in rush hour traffic, etc. at one point my car began displaying characteristics of losing power steering, engaging the auto stop/start function and not re-engaging the vehicle upon acceleration for which it was intended. i lost power steering in a turn one time and almost crashed in brookline massachusetts a heavily travelled pedestrian area
Tl the contact owns a 2017 chevrolet malibu. while driving various speeds, the vehicle unintentionally decelerated and the engine, traction, and reduced power warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to cable dahmer of kansas city (555 w 103 st, kansas city, mo 64114, (816) 285-4589) where the contact was informed that an unknown sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 40,500.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chevrolet malibu. on several occasions while driving, the engine stalled and lost power. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to bob steele chevrolet (2800 florida 520, cocoa, fl 32926 (321) 632-6700) where no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be replicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and scheduled an appointment to view the vehicle. the contact stated that due to the inclement weather, the manufacturer would notify her to reschedule the appointment. the failure mileage was 204.
The car was parked and off in our driveway for 15 minutes -horn started went out saw smoke called 911 and by the time back at front door flames from front end. fire department came and put out fire -car totaled. worried about spontaneous combustion especially if car parked in garage or closer to house or if people inside
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the vehicle decelerated without warning. on most occasions, the speed would remain consistent. other times, the speed would decrease during the failure. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to chuck hutton chevrolet (2471 mt moriah rd, memphis, tn 38115, (901) 318-3703) where it was diagnosed that a new accelerator fuse pedal needed to be installed. the vehicle was repaired eleven times over three years for the same failure, but the failure continued. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. the failure mileage was 68,973.
The vehicle engine turned off while driving in the city. it then caused the steering wheel to stiffen and making it difficult to steer. the car power went into low mode. the ac went into fan mode. and the car stayed stationary.
The very first advanced diagnostic report by 'onstar" emailed to me on 04/07/2017, was less than 30 days after the final sale of my vehicle. i called the service team for the first time on april 7, 2019 @4:13pm. (see phone records) i am unsure of the mileage however; i do confirm it was within the 30 days of me purchasing the car and i spoke with a service rep by the name of guy. at the time of sale, the car had 15 miles total. the diagnostic message received on april 7, 2017 was "an issue with the emissions/ engine power reduced/engine stalled". the check engine light was also on i have received an email to that effect every month thereafter, and to date. each time causing the check engine light to come on. i have also attempted to have the car repaired multiple times, within warranty and while out of warranty, by two dealerships. 1. rockmont ourisman chevrolet &2. sports chevrolet. both service teams never resolving the issue. the last few times the car was in for service at the senior advisor's recommendation was on 10/17/2018 for 1 day, 11/09/2018-11/13/2018 for 4 days and finally 12/10/2018-01/17/2019, over 1 month at the sports chevrolet. during this time, unfortunately, i was not under warranty; therefore, i spent quite a bit of out of pocket expenses on a rental vehicle for the days my car was in for repair, even though this issue was obviously relating the same unresolved complaint from april 7, 2017 and that a chevrolet senior advisor recommended i go there. i found the senior advisors to be unhelpful and limited in remedying simple common sense customer concerns. i have lots of documentation
