Problems with 2010 Chevrolet Malibu ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL

On average, the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu starts to “feel” problems with the ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL and its various aspects after 93 515 miles.

Recently reported ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL problems on 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

My 2010 malibu lt, had the 13036 recall 11/03/2014 after i received the notice from gm. there were no malfunctions at that time. now as i speak, the brake lights comes on without me hitting the brake peddle and they all go off when i hit the brakes, when i talked to the dealer they recommend i bring it in and they will try to find out what is causing this. price range $500.00-$1250.00. now if you look on any gm forum page or just google the situation that i am having, you will find thousands of the same problem. it looks like gm does not have safety in mind after you purchase their vehicles! the 13036 recall has been revised several times, so if you had the recall performed in the early stages, they note your vehicle as completed and send you on your way. i can not drive my car because of this issue- that sucks!!!!! i contacted gm, by email and also left a message last year when the service traction control warning message started. i have not heard from gm. still no safety recall!!!!

I was on my way to work and i had to stop to get gas. everything was fine. i pulled away form the pump and proceeded to the end of the driveway. when i left the parking lot to pull into traffic, the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn. i was driving less than 5 mph. the traction control light was on, esc message, and service power steering system were activated. i drove back home and went to work in my other vehicle. 162,409 miles. i purchased the car brand new in february 2010. all oil changes and tire rotations have been completed at a chevy dealership. i've only purchased tires, two batteries, and windshield wipers for my car until last week. that was the engine coolant sensor. until now i always bragged and said that my malibu was the best car ever because i never had any issues with it.

I purchased this car in september 2016 and not more than two days of owning it my esc lights disabled and my brake lights were stuck on, i brought it into the dealership and they replaced the break pedal sensor, and the lights came on again, i brought it in again and they once again replaced the sensor, this problem has yet to be fixed almost two years later, the esc constantly disables and the brake lights come on and stay stuck i am lucky i have not been in an accident. the dealership i bought it from have failed on several occasions to fix this problem. now they are telling me i will have to pay for a problem that they never actually fixed. i will be driving and my check traction light will come on and my esc light will say off. you can see by the attached document i originally reported this problem on 9/26/2016, i purchased the car september 24, 2016... two days later and this issue started occurring and now two years later and it is still not fixed.

Issue started 08/27/16 while 19 year old was driving at night. as the brake pedal is compressed the brake lights go off. while driving they are on. service traction and esc warnings come on intermittently. i have contacted chevrolet and have been advised there is not an open recall for this vehicle. a case has been opened with the manufacturer. i have been driving the vehicle several times and have almost been rear ended several times due to this issue. the vehicle is scheduled for inspection and maintenance 09/01/16 at miller and sons chevrolet. they have been advised of the issue. i have a suspicion this is a recurring issue on a previous recall (14v252000) after seeing some recent complaints from those whom have had the issue fixed the first time. this is the 5 time in 2 months i have had to have this vehicle in the shop. once for intake and exhaust solenoid replacement. "tapping noises" these ultimately led to a timing chain replacement of which gm covered 800.00. i had to pay 600.00. in all i have spent over 900.00 on this vehicle for repairs which i feel should have been covered under other vehicle recalls. either fix the existing problems or take the vehicle off the market and buy back.

While driving, noticed that the car seemed sluggish. after being parked for about an hour, restarted the car and got several warnings concerning the esc, traction control and reduced engine power. the check engine and traction lights were lit and remained lit. car has approx. 60,000 miles on it. currently at dealership to find out what is wrong with it.

Vehicle has service airbag on repeatedly, seat belt alarm goes off even when seat belt is properly fastened. while driving car suddenly lost power and service esc, service traction control, engine power reduced. car suddenly dropped down to 27 mph in the middle of traffic. i was able to avoid a serious accident by suddenly turning into a parking lot. this is very dangerous and can be fatal if occurs on freeway. no one can provide any reason as to why this keeps happening. i have no warranty on vehicle and purchased from a dealer 3 years ago. i have called the dealer and have had car looked at but the only suggestion is to blindly replace different sensors and parts. we need a recall done so no lives are lost due to this severe car malfunction.

Bcm issue resulting in brake lights not working properly. brakes lights are on when brake is not applied, and go off when brake is applied. brake light goes on after car reaches a speed of 15 mph. recall prior replaced the harness in 2014, but now chevy dealer is saying this is not related, yet it is the same symptoms of original recall back in 2014. the recall repair in 2014 seems to have been a band-aid on what could lead to a serious accident and loss of a life if not repaired correctly. customers should not be responsible for repair of a known issue that gm only put a temporary fix on but never solved the entire problem.

I have repeatedly filed complaints with gm that my service air bag light stays on / my breaklight located in back window works opposite of what it is supposed to. i am notifing you in writing that gm has not done anything to help me. i guess if my air bag expolodes while im driving and i kill some folks in an accident i just want you to be aware

Repairs were completed a couple of years ago on this vehicle from recall id 14v252000, however, my vehicle has recently experienced the similar symptoms as described on the recall. the service traction, service esc and esc off warnings display on the dashboard unpredictably. this happens whether the vehicle is idling or in motion. when the warnings pop up the brake lights are illuminated without depressing the pedal, the brake lights turn off briefly when depressed, however, when the brake pedal is released, the brake lights come back on and remains on. also when the warnings are displayed, the cruise control disengages, and i'm able to shift out of park without depressing the brake. turning the key off resets the warnings, but the warnings and symptoms return again - sometimes immediately and other times it may take hours of driving. i'm concerned that the original recall repairs did not correct the problem.

I was getting on i10 as i began to merge onto the interstate my car came to crawl did it start to gain power allowing me to merge onto i10 safely. so i thought. as i was reaching 70mph the car stalls ( no steering no engine power) on my dash board it read reduce engine power service traction ! wth out of know where this happen the dash didnt read that till my car stalled and all power was loss. mind u i have a toddler and an [xxx] with me in a stalled vehicle on the interstate. i called gm they said i had no recall on my car due to my vin my car at the time was at 65000 mile. that was maybe 1 yr ago starting 7/17/16 at 163000 miles my car stalled twice my service traction control reduce engine power light came on after the car stalls looses power! called the dealer ship to make an appt for monday because i work and i have two kids this is supposed to be my realibile car. i am scared to drive it to the dealer ship come monday becauuse i feel it is a danger for me and my family. it stalls with no warning what so ever it takes 20 minutes to start up after a stall out! it is not safe if my car is not in the recall how is it that my car has the same problems as other s?

I got the car in 2015 and from that i have had problem with the steering light coming on and shutting off the power steering which my wife was driving and she lost control of the car and almost ran into a pole. this has happened more than one time and when she turn off the car, it works again but then happens again. i have more problems with the headlights going out over and over and the socket being burned out and have to replace them as well now my radio has power but doesn't come on, after it was just working. i can't hear any door chimes or turn signal signs. it like a problem after a problem with the electrical components in this car. i am buy this car but we don't even feel safe to drive it. it has only 79000 miles but the problems started happening around 50,000 miles and when i got the car it had 43,000 miles i believe.

Vehicle was moving at about 35 mph when the drivers information center indicated a electronic stability service, traction control service and esc off messages. this happened multiple times over a two day period. car was taken to dealer for diagnostics and they said that the computer had stored a p0300 code which is engine misfire. the engine runs fine however there is a slight vibration at idle while in park or neutral. gm also sent out a letter to me stating that there was a problem with the throttle posistion sensor that may cause this to happen. the dealer did not attempt to diagnos the problem with the sensor and stated that the engine had a bad #2 cyclinder with compression at 100lbs. the p0300 code can be caused by the various electronic messages that have appeared and the engine is not the problem. they wanted to tear it down at a cost of $2300 to fix a problem that does not exist. this car only has 39000 miles on it. there are numerous reports of this same isssue with nhtsa and gm has not dealt with the problem. another issue relating to this is the fact that the engine reduced power message comes on in some vehilcle and the car slows down and is very dangerous to drive on the higways. so far my car has not done that. i believe there should be some pressure exerted on gm to correct these multiple problems with their vehicle since the government bailed them out along with our taxpayer funds.

I haven't had this car but 4yrs and the transmission is already messing up found a recall and i was told it wasn't for my car. what do i need to do to get my car fixed????

In 2014, general motors' recall #13036 was serviced by chevrolet dealership who said problem was corrected. in june 2016 the problem has reoccurred. while in motion the brake lights come on without pressing the brake peddle; the cruise control disengages; and disablement of traction control and electronic stability which could increase the risk of a crash. all occur while vehicle is in motion on city streets and highways.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving at any speed, the brake lights remained illuminated. when the brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights turned off. the contact stated that "service esc" and "traction control is off " appeared on the instrument panel. also, the steering and accelerator pedal felt heavy and the vehicle slowed down. the issue recurred numerous times. the contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control) and was repaired in 2014. the failure recurred. the dealer and manufacturer were notified. the vehicle was not repaired again. the approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

My 2010 chevy malibu is having issues with the break lights working in reverse, the esc traction control sensor is going off. we have replaced the break light switch and it's still not working. i have seen multiple complaints regarding this issue. i am an avid chevy person, i have had the car in for all recalls and it happened about a year after. car was in motion

I was turning onto a freeway on ramp when a engine power reduced message came up on my dashboard. the cars speed then dropped to about 10 miles an hour and started shaking violently. thankfully i was only moving at about 30 mph and was able to pull to the shoulder safely.

Right now i have the service esc and service traction light on again for the 3rd time. i took each time to chevy classic in grapevine tx and they told me no codes the 1st time, took it to clay cooley in irving--light came on then no codes they showed. today 4-15=16 light came on again and i took it to classic chevy and they found 3 codes this time. they say i will have to pay for this! i should not since there was an open recall on 5/14/2014 for 2010 malibu's. my car is doing this now !@!!@ it needs to be fixed at no charge to me!! i feel like this is the most dangerous car on the road for me and my daughter. i don't want to be a statistic if we have a car crash and it was all because chevy kept making excuses to not fix my crap car for me. the other recall was the brake system not illuminating i got that letter a little too late . someone rear ended me in oct 2012 while i was stopped at a red light. maybe those stupid back brake lights were not working then!!!!!! someone at classic or clay cooolye chevy needs to fix this esc light on my car and fix all the recalls for free. i also have an eps recall letter that was sent to me but someone at chevy told me the light has to come on for them to fix it. this is ridiculous. my car needs to be fixed for all these problems it has no matter if the light is on or not. but the light is on for service esc and traction right now!@ gm or chevy needs to pay for it and fix this car. the consumer stated the dealer did not completely fix the problem. they only lubricated and she continued to experience problems with the brakes, service light and esc light. also, the front axle was leaking.

My 2010 chevy malibu lt 2.4 l began misfiring on cylinder 1 giving me th codes p0201 and p0301. after getting those readings i began driving home and the car began to jerk and lose power followed by the service traction and service esc warning lights flashing along with the engine light. so i began to accelerate again and the gears had trouble shifting and horse power was reduce when trying to take off. the car would slip gear at 40 mph and around 60 - 65 mph. lights will not go off unless negative battery post is removed and then reconnected.then problem returns when car is driven again. i searched my vin number and there is no recall for my vin but my car has the same issues as 100s of other 2010 chevy malibus. i really dont feel safe driving this car. i wish i any other option to getting this problem fixed asap!!!

Brake lights malfunctions, brake lights will be illuminating when brake is not pressed also gear shifter is difficult to get out of park service esc traction control light comes on this vehicle has been serviced in july 2011, september 2012. august 2013. september 2014, and february 2016 for the same ongoing safety issue. gm doesn't know how to fix it. there was a recall for this very problem recall # 13036 but once they repair it, they consider the recall closed even though they did not fix the problem.

Esc service light comes on intermittently, brake lights are illuminated 100 % of the time, and cruise control doesn't work. the dealer did the recall a year ago and now i have these issues. replaced brake position and reprogram for $140 but didn't fix. dealer now wants to replace abs modulator valve, bcm, and abs control module for 1450.

While driving the car at normal traveling speed the electronic stability control shuts off and the car goes into manual steering which makes the car very difficult to control and has almost caused two accidents and has made me ark the car because i feel it is far too dangerous to drive. this started occurring february15th and continued until i parked the car on feb2st.

The traction control light comes on and stays on. will not turn off now my brakes do not work properly and causes the car to be hard to stop.

Vehicle model is experiencing esc off/service traction when brakes are applied. similar to recall involved with other model years but this car was not included in recalls. dealer repair shop replaced brake pedal sensor twice and also the body control modual. problem still persists. vehicle experiences reduced acceleration while driving when the esc off/service traction light is on.

2010 chevrolet malibu. consumer writes in regards to esc light continuously illuminating and trac control switch issues. *smd the consumer stated after the part was replaced, the esc light illuminated again. the consumer continued to report the trac service light was still displayed. the dealer stated it was a possible bcm internal failure. the consumer received a recall notice shortly thereafter regarding an issue with the bcm connection system which could result i a malfunction. one of the symptoms of the problem, as stated in the notice was traction control, electronic stability control, and panic braking assist features, if equipped may be disabled. the vehicle was repaired at no cost to the consumer *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the service esc warning indicator illuminated intermittently. in addition, the brake light illuminated without the pedal being depressed. the contact stated that the brake light stopped functioning after the pedal was depressed. in addition, the traction and cruise control failed. the failure occurred approximately six times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pedal position sensor needed to be replaced and the brake switch needed to be calibrated. the switch was calibrated; however, the failure recurred. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number" 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control); however, the vin was not included. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000. updated 05/11/16*lj *tr

The first time i had just left the car wash headed home, decided to stop at the park to finish cleaning the car, pulling up to park, the traction control disengages then the ( triangle with the car sliding image) appears, a service esc notice popes up and the engine begins to run rough, at this point the traction control will not engage. the second time, i was pulling into my drive and the same thing happened. both times when i turned the car off, wait a while and start the car again the message will not be there, but the traction control will not engage. this has happened twice in about 3-weeks. is the car safe to drive with the traction control off?

It first started when my stability light would come on and my car acted like it was going to die when i was in a stopping position. this happened about 3 times. then i was at a stop light and my stability light came on and my car just died. i took my vehicle in to the dealership and they replaced my computer system. on my receipt they indicated due to short in the ecm. replaced and reprogrammed the ecm. since then there has been one time when my car acted like it was going to die. i turned off the heater and radio thinking something else was causing this to happen and my car did not die.

Car lost control of power steering same time as driver side back brake light went out steering wheel shakes bad when slowing down from 70

12/4/15 night, dry conditions, expressway: in motion: chime sounded and 2 warnings flash - service esc & service traction. 15 minutes later, - city streets, dry, same issue with esc and traction warning lights going on, plus almost rear ended. irate driver behind me said my brake lights were out, but they were astonished when the break lights came on while i was outside the car. they asked me to press the pedal - no lights. 20 secs after lifting off the pedal, brake lights on. major safety issue. upon driving found brake lights always go off when brake pedal depressed, go on at other times randomly while driving and go off again when brake pedal depressed.

2010 malibu lt, recall #13036 on this car and others, i took it to one of the local auto nation dealer in mid 2015, mind you i did not have any of the warning signs noted in the 14v-252 report. now i see there is a recall #13036a, 13036b revisions, then about three weeks or so i was going home, major road 40 mph, a friend happened to be behind me, he flashed his light, i slowed, let my window down, he yelled your brake lights are out! i made it home it was dark my brake lights work at random, my traction control disengages and a service notice scrolls across reading: service esc, at times the engine will idle rough! gm: what the hell is going on with you guys, i have been a general motors guy all my life, then i buy a 2010 in 2011 and it is already a road hazard for me and others on the road, not to mention, a piece of [xxx]! parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*cc

I was at burger king drive thru and when i got done ordering i tried to pull around and my power steering light cam on and my esc light . i could not turn it was very hard i had to turn off my car and it fixed it self. this better be a recall bec why do i got to spend my money to fix this it's bs

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the esc and low power warning indicators illuminated. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

While driving home from work on october 2016 3 random lights on my dashboard appeared(engine light, service airbag light, esc). they stayed on for about 2 hours then disappeared for the rest of the day. the following day, all three lights appeared and did not leave for 3 days, then disappeared. then they reappeared for 2 days, then disappeared. the day after they disappeared, all lights appeared but the engine light. now i only have esc and service airbag which comes on and off.

I have only been driving this car for 5 months. purchased used at dealership. i do not drive far. all of a sudden esc and "service traction" shows up on my dash. my rear break light turns on and i'm not touching the break. the "service traction esc" shows up more and more frequently. to me, this is a big safety issue and i see that my car is doing the same as others but gm told me via phone call, "only certain vin numbers are recalled". somethings wrong here. is it going to take someone to be severely injured or worse for this to get handled? i believe in american made cars, but why aren't the rest of us with this make and model and year also in this recall? we are having the same problems! all i was doing while driving was driving 45 mph on a straight flat road, where speed limit was 50mph!

I was stopped at a stop sign to turn and when i accelerated a quick flash of the service ecm message came on and then disappeared, but the car stalled out in the middle of the intersection. when i tried to restart the car, it would turnover, run for 2 seconds and then die. i had the car towed to my house, where we charged the battery and took it over to autozone to have the electronics scanned, where it showed 3 codes: u0121, p0106, p0621. they scanned the battery and alternator, and all came up with a clean bill of health (so to speak). upon reading online it looks like this was an issue in malibu's 2004-2009 (which was recalled), and i believe they never fixed the issue and now 2010's may be affected. my worry is that this will happen again and it will be at a busier intersection or worse yet, on the highway.

I have had the recall notice (report receipt date: may 14, 2014 nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 component(s): electrical system , electronic stability control , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic , vehicle speed control ) previously taken care of by oakley chevrolet buick repair shop about a year ago. the problem has returned , the brake lights do not operate properly (they are on when the brake is not applied & when you apply the brake they go off). i returned the car to the shop and they stated that they could not duplicate that problem, but that it may be the brake apply sensor. they had my car all day, and could not tell me what the problem is.....i picked up my car and now i am trying through gm to get the matter addressed. i have been informed to get a second opinion. which i will do and i will be in touch. in addition to that issue, now the drivers seat belt chimes that the belt is not in use when it is and the car is driving. another safety issue.

I was driving on sr-512 near puyallup, washington. i was just moving to the right at the base of the freeway on-ramp, when my electronic power steering went out. at nearly the same time, electronic stability control activated for no apparent reason. each of my wheels began braking independent from one another. this latest for approximately 10-seconds and did not happen again. the power steering also returned to normal for a brief period of time. later that same morning, i was at a stop sign and was waiting to turn right. when traffic cleared enough for me to begin my turn i turned the wheel to the right. almost at the same moment the steering went out again, and i had to fight to complete the turn. had i been an elderly person, without sufficient strength to force the steering wheel to turn, i would have certainly crashed into the cars waiting to turn left at the intersection in question. the steering problem has persisted ever since and gotten much worse over time. i've noticed if i stop the car...turn off the ignition...and restart the car the electronic steering resets and will be fine for up to 10-15 minutes. but the problem always returns. i looked online and saw that malibus from 2004-2009 experienced this same problem and were recalled. i went to my local chevrolet dealer and asked if they would extend the recall protection to cover my 2010 malibu and i was advised they would not. this is a real safety problem, and while i can't afford the $2,000 repairs to get it fixed, i can't imagine trying to deal with this issue when winter arrives and the roads turn icy. this problem would most certainly cause and accident. i hope you can influence chevrolet to extend their existing malibu recall to cover the 2010 models that have the same problems as those models from the previous seven model years. thank you.

Esc and traction graphic and text alarms have been initializing intermittently while driving at various speeds since march 2015. on 4/7/2015 and again on 4/13/2015, after starting the car these two alarms initialized along with the power steering alarm and there was a loss of power steering. in each case, turning off the engine reset the alarms and the power steering restored. loss of power steering at highway speeds particularly in a curve or while making a turn could cause a serious accident. i now feel very unsafe and insecure while driving this vehicle. *tr

1 year ago my car flashed esc service traction control reduce engine power and reduced my spend to 40mph on a busy interstate! called gm stated what happen and i knew they had a recall but of course my cars vin was not included in the recall. brought the car to a local gm dealer ship to put on machine to see if any codes would show up nothing came up!!! i was told the message would have to be showing to service vehicle. well here we are a year later with the car in the shop because my car reduces engine power without warning stalls and my esc service traction reduce engine power came on message board but did not stay after i turned key of course because it shut the car off after 2-5 minutes. i have video of it reading esc traction service but that does not help! car now needs a new timing chain and has metal in the oil! mind you of i wouldve been able to service the esc traction control could this all have been avoided? my car was in the shop maybe 6 months ago and was put on the machine to get codes minor codes came up and not the esc traction control reduce engine power. called gm today and was told my milage played part in this but i doubt that only because at 68000 it flashed esc and shut off on me without warning so now they will contact the shop. they need to recall these vehicles it is a hazard to be on the road! we can not afford a new vehicle car this car was brand new but has been problem after problem ! headlights go out all the time airbag light stays on even after being fixed 3 times trunk does not open defroster thats a joke i could go on and on

At 70 mph the cruise control shut off by itself and the service esc light illuminated on the dash. i also noticed the brake lights came on when foot was off the brake pedal and shut off when i depressed the brake pedal. this has happened intermittently in the past 2 weeks. i took car into turan-foley chevy dealership in gulfport, ms on 4/08/15 and they recommended replacing the bpp for $242.25, which i had them complete. they also said the problem may be caused by the ebcm-bpmu which would cost over $1100.00. the "service esc" light came on again on 4/09/15. i have not noticed any performance issues such as i have read in other forums regarding decreased power. recall # 13036 was completed on car 10/14/14 by dantin chevrolet which according to what i have read was supposed to fix the problems i am now having. i mentioned this to turan-foleys service department, but they said they cannot re-open a closed recall. i wonder how many times my brake lights have not worked properly as i average over 700 miles a week. this is an accident waiting to happen. please help! *tr

While driving to work, i noticed the steering shake and stiffen up and i had loss of all power steering. soon after that i had my driver side tire blow out and almost caused an accident. a couple of days later, i drove it to the dealership and the service representative told me that chevy malibu's did have a recall on the electric power steering pump and torque sensor but not for my model (ltz). which didn't make sense to me. just because it's a different trim, the parts would be different? it doesn't seem possible. if this issue is occurring in chevy malibu's, it should be addressed to all malibu's regardless the trim of the vehicle. i would appreciate any help with this issue. *tr

I was driving with my son and his friend (both in the back seat thankfully!) down a hill (maybe 10-20 mph) to a stop light when i heard a pinging noise and no longer had control of steering. the power steering and esc warnings were showing on the dashboard and steering was exceptionally hard. i was able (barely) to make the turn and pull over to the side of the road and turned the car off (very hard to do at a slow mph). i waited about 10-20 seconds and turned it back on and it seemed fine. i had an appointment for an oil change the next day and planned on asking them to check it. later that same night, i was driving at about 35 mph when the same thing happened on a main road. i pulled into a parking lot (not easily) and turned the car off and back on, but it did not reset itself. the next morning i took my car for an oil change and they told me that the power steering is electrical and that they would have someone look at it the next day (it was sunday and i needed to wait until monday). monday morning they called me and told me that i would need to bring it to the dealer for replacement of the power steering motor and that they've seen this multiple times with gm cars. i brought it to h&l chevy in darien, ct where i bought it and they told me that although there is a large recall for this issue, that my car is not eligible for it even though it's the exact same problem!! i see on the nhtsa website that there are many complaints about this with a 2010 malibu and i would like to know how to get this covered by gm -- it's ridiculously expensive for a single parent (or anyone for that matter!) *tr

I received a safety recall notice via mail from gm due to a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety. the notice clearly stated why the (chevrolet malibu 2010) was being recalled. the reasons for the recall indeed persisted in the vehicle that i was currently operating so i had it serviced as stated in the notice to do. messages such as: (engine power reduced, service esc, service traction control, as well as service airbag) appeared. after a couple of days of having the vehicle serviced, the same problems that existed before resumed. what now!? *tr

I was driving down the highway and all at once the car lost power. the esc, checking light, and engine power reduce come across the display. i could not go over 20mph, but i'm glad i wasn't far from home nor any car behind me at the time this happen. i will be taking my car to the dealership down the street from my house as soon as they open up at 0700 monday, december 15, 2014 to get it check out. this scared me so bad that i don't know what to do. this is so unsafe for highway traveling. *tr

Driving the vehicle at 70 mph on the highway when i received the following messages in the dic: "service esc" "service traction control" and "eng reduced pwr." vehicle would not accelerate past 60 mph, and that was with pedal all the way to the floor. when i had to stop, the engine shook. luckily, i was able to drive the vehicle home - although, at one point, i was driving 20 mph on the highway acceleration lane because the car could not accelerate at all. the messages cleared when i shut the engine off and turned it back on; however, the engine light remained on. dealer found dtc of "p2135" and replaced the throttle body. they said it was not covered under the emissions/engine/powertrain warranty and charged $500 for the repair. *tr
