Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

I had to have over $2500 worth of work done to my car, which had something to do with some torque sensor and other parts - i see that there was a recall on other chevy malibu's in previous model years. i am wondering how long this recall will take, my year is 2010 and not currently on the recall list. prior to that, i had just paid $2000 for other work needed on this vehicle that was out of warranty. i've had so many issues w/this car. i have receipts but they are currently in storage - i am unable to upload them right now.

My 2010 chevy malibu is having issues with the break lights working in reverse, the esc traction control sensor is going off. we have replaced the break light switch and it's still not working. i have seen multiple complaints regarding this issue. i am an avid chevy person, i have had the car in for all recalls and it happened about a year after. car was in motion

Right now i have the service esc and service traction light on again for the 3rd time. i took each time to chevy classic in grapevine tx and they told me no codes the 1st time, took it to clay cooley in irving--light came on then no codes they showed. today 4-15=16 light came on again and i took it to classic chevy and they found 3 codes this time. they say i will have to pay for this! i should not since there was an open recall on 5/14/2014 for 2010 malibu's. my car is doing this now !@!!@ it needs to be fixed at no charge to me!! i feel like this is the most dangerous car on the road for me and my daughter. i don't want to be a statistic if we have a car crash and it was all because chevy kept making excuses to not fix my crap car for me. the other recall was the brake system not illuminating i got that letter a little too late . someone rear ended me in oct 2012 while i was stopped at a red light. maybe those stupid back brake lights were not working then!!!!!! someone at classic or clay cooolye chevy needs to fix this esc light on my car and fix all the recalls for free. i also have an eps recall letter that was sent to me but someone at chevy told me the light has to come on for them to fix it. this is ridiculous. my car needs to be fixed for all these problems it has no matter if the light is on or not. but the light is on for service esc and traction right now!@ gm or chevy needs to pay for it and fix this car. the consumer stated the dealer did not completely fix the problem. they only lubricated and she continued to experience problems with the brakes, service light and esc light. also, the front axle was leaking.

Was driving on the freeway and my transmission randomly went out. it was slipping with rpm going out of control. once this started happening my speed and acceleration were not synchronizing so i had to exit. it was a very scary experience and then the check engine light went on. my car is fairly new and had been kept up to par so this came out of nowhere.

Brake lights malfunctions, brake lights will be illuminating when brake is not pressed also gear shifter is difficult to get out of park service esc traction control light comes on this vehicle has been serviced in july 2011, september 2012. august 2013. september 2014, and february 2016 for the same ongoing safety issue. gm doesn't know how to fix it. there was a recall for this very problem recall # 13036 but once they repair it, they consider the recall closed even though they did not fix the problem.

I am the owner of a 2010 chevy malibu 2lt fwd. i bought the car in august of 2013, since then i have had to have the transmission rebuilt due to the fact that the manufacturer used a faulty 3-5 reverse wave plate. this is the same wave plate that caused significant damage to vehicles in the recall of similar vehicles in the 2007-2009 models. the dealership tried to make it seem like i was some sort of freeloader because i didnt not feel a car with 63000 miles on it should have a bad transmission. when all was said and done the 3-5 wave plate fell apart and shredded my transmission. the car stopped accelerating in traffic, this almost caused an accident not once not twice but 3 times. as the my children were in the vehicle the 1st 2 times the car stopped working properly, the very first time the dealer stated that even though the computer showed the fault codes in the computer from the check engine light stating there was a transmission error since they were not able to make them repeat it was fine. 2 weeks later it happened again and caused me to have to pay $500 after much complaining and pleading as my car was only 5 yrs old with less than 65000 miles on it, but all warantees had just conveniently expired. i feel that this must be looked into, this is the 2nd complaint that i have filed due to the fact that my car still does not run correctly and it has been docuemented that if it happens once it will happen again. these vehicles are not any safer than the earlier models and need to be looked into as were the 2007-2009 models with the same faulty transmission issues. if not then someone is going to be seriously hurt or killed. if i had not been attentive to my car my daughter or i would not be here, or a driver of the other vehicles that could have been involved. as cars should not just stop accelerating because of chevys neglect to see this problem

On 9/15/15 i was making a right hand turn from a red light when i heard a loud pop or bang from my front end, when i stepped on the gas the car would not accelerate. my car was out of warranty so after complaining to the dealership and gm they finally had it towed to the dealer (after 2 weeks) to have it fixed or looked at. the check engine light that was on at the time reset it self but the 2codes found in the computer were the p0716 and p0717 transmission codes but since they were historic (which the check engine light has never come on except for the break light issue) the dealership said my car was fine. i picked it up and off i went. 12 days later the vehicle bucked making a left turn, and the vehicle would not accelerate and the check engine light was back on. i was forced to drive to the dealership when the vehicle would not come out of 1st gear. the transmission was shredded. they would not tell me what codes were in the computer this time. but as i stated was an issue with vehicles from 2007 -2009 the 3-5 wave plate broke and contaminated my transmission. the car is still not 100% running right. the car still hesitates and jumps and has a hard shift with issues accelerating.

2010 chevy malibu. brake system issues.

At 92,280 miles the vehicle's transmission malfunctioned on the commute home from work. the vehicle was fine during the trip to work, while in motion on the return home the transmission became unsafe. this was on a state highway at speeds ranging from 35-50 mph. the gears would not catch, resulting in high engine revs and unpredictable speed of travel. the vehicle would not accelerate past 30 mph or so. the same was true for reverse gear. the vehicle was just outside warranty period. our local chevrolet dealer at the time, [xxx] was unhelpful in fixing the situation, they would not schedule a convenient appointment, and suggested we took the car elsewhere for a sooner repair. we needed the vehicle fixed asap, and ended up having the transmission replaced by a specialty shop at $2800. because the vehicle was outside the warranty period, and we went to a 3rd party shop and not a gm dealer the gm claims department says we are out of luck, nothing they can do for us. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving various speeds, the engine rpms rapidly increased, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle was merged to side of the road and parked on the shoulder where he switched from automatic to manual and proceeded driving. the shift lever failed to shift from second to third. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 68,924.

I was driving through the intersection and the vehicle just stopped while going about 15-20 mph. the check engine light came on and i attempted to push the vehicle. the abs has engaged and the vehicle would not move. until giving gas and letting vehicle rev up to 4,000 rpm it jumped into gear and began to drive normal again. now the vehicle drives but revs at 2-3 gear and then just slows down, there were 13 fault reads from cpu which were all transmission control module fault and cpu malfunction. this happened out of no where and standard maintenance does get performed. i am told my warranty expired 2 months ago because they said that's the month it went to the dealership. i thought it went off when the vehicle was driven off the lot. i am due to pcs in 56 days to a new duty station and now my family and i are in a bind, i love chevrolet but i am at a loss right now with a very unsafe vehicle that will drive fine and out of no where rev up and just stop.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. in addition, the rpms failed and the gear shift became inoperable. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 104,000....updated 06-16-15 *bf updated 10/17/2017*cn

My 2010 chevy malibu lt 2.4l won't go into park and shifter feels loose. if i put it in park position it slides down to reverse. in order to take the key out the ignition i have to set my emergency brake put the shifter to (p) and take my keys out. when i do that i don't know if the parking is engaged or in reverse. everything else works and drives just fine. i took it to a transmission shop and they told me that the component has a nhtsa safety recall in effect campaign # 12v460000. they recommended to take the car to the chevy dealer...i took the car to chevy dealer and they told me that there is no recall on that. only recalls they have is #13036- #10085. they couldn't see my car at the moment do to being backed up. so i took it to toyota and they took it in. they told me they found shifter cable ripped and inop causing vehicle not to engage into gears properly. it seems that nhtsa safety recall #12v460000 sounds about right with what i read online. *tr

Esc and traction graphic and text alarms have been initializing intermittently while driving at various speeds since march 2015. on 4/7/2015 and again on 4/13/2015, after starting the car these two alarms initialized along with the power steering alarm and there was a loss of power steering. in each case, turning off the engine reset the alarms and the power steering restored. loss of power steering at highway speeds particularly in a curve or while making a turn could cause a serious accident. i now feel very unsafe and insecure while driving this vehicle. *tr

My car wouldn't move after shifting into reverse. i immediately called gm, because my car is till covered under the power tran warranty. car gets towed to webb dealership( very poor customer service). they replace the transmission on thursday 040/09. receive a call from [xxx] with webb chevy stating and i quote. "[xxx] the transmission was replaced successfully, but you have other problems the check engine light is on and the car will not get any power to accelerate. in order for us to diagnose the problem you would need to have another diagnostic test done for 119.00". get call today from [xxx] saying oh we did the diagnostic test and it came back its the throttle body needs replacing its no good and the cost will be 513.41 plus tax. how could this be ?????? why isn't this covered under the power tran warranty??? the throttle body is related to the engine... i am confused and very upset and disappointed with gm poor services and vehicle and webb chevy. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving at 15 mph, the vehicle made an abnormal noise and accelerated without warning. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 74,200.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving 65 mph, the check engine, electronic stability control, and traction control warning lights illuminated. the contact mentioned that the vehicle began to jerk but stopped at higher speeds. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not found. on another occasion, the vehicle jerked before it stalled. the vehicle failed to start and was towed to the contact's residence. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

When my wife, two kids, and myself were driving to a friends house to take care of their pets, our chevy malibu experienced a severe drop in power. we were driving at about 75 mph when all of a sudden our car dropped to 10 miles per hour and was violently shaking. i was lucky enough to pull off to the side of the road without being rear ended due to the sudden drop in speed. while on the side of the road i observed the traction control and check engine lights were on. error messages displayed in the information screen to "check traction control" and "reduced engine power". also while i was on the shoulder of the interstate, my car was attempting to jerk forward with the brake pedal fully pressed. i had placed my car in park and turned my car off fearing that at any moment the car could take off without me wanting it to. after we were calmed down, i turned the car back on and their was no more jerking motion, the traction control light was not lit, but the check engine light was still on. i fear for my families safety while in our only family car with this issue considering the drastic drop in power and speed while traveling at highway speeds. *tr

Vehicle was traveling down the road and just stopped moving. found that a lot of gm products have 3-5-r clutch wave plate problems. this is very dangerous if this were to occur at a high rate of speed on a busy highway. *tr

Stopped at a red light, accelerated, vehicle would not change gears. engine light came on. vehicle will not go in reverse. gm dealership says a new transmission is needed. warranty expired 1/24/15. asking gm for assistance for repairs. vehicle is only 4 years old. cost $3700 to $4500. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle would jerk as the esc and the traction control warning lights illuminated. in addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the map sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 83,492.

Drove car around town with no problems, came home, put car in park on level street and left it running for 2 minutes, got back in car put in reverse and noticed car shifter was a little stiff. in the process of putting my car in the garage, going from drive to reverse a couple of times, i noticed it took quite a bit of strength to get shifter to move from one gear to another. i went in the house and got online to see if anyone else had the same problem and if there was a recall for this. i did see there is a general recall from gm for several vehicles, my year and make included. the problem is the tabs on the shift linkage come off and not only cause the shifter to be real stiff, but cause the little silver button on the side of the shifter to stick and not come back out after pressed making it impossible to change gears, causes is the shifter to appear to be in "park" but it really isn't and the car ends up rolling after the driver leaves it, people have had problems getting their keys to come out of the ignition because the car wasn't actually in park even though the shift lever was in the park position. i called the chevrolet dealer in watsonville, ca and they said it sounds like my car does have a problem with the shift linkage, but my car wasn't on the recall list, and even though my car only has 18,100 miles on it, it is out of warranty, so i would have to pay for this fix. i then reported the problem to gm with senior advisor [xxx], operator #[xxx], please refer to case #[xxx]. i feel my car should be included in the recall since it was experiencing one of the same problems described in the recall. please look into this and get back to me. i would like a contact person i can work with on this. i would like to avoid safety problems for myself and others. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. in addition, while in reverse, the vehicle failed to respond. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable.

When i try to put my car in park it will not go into the park position. i have to put the car in neutral with the emergency brakes on in order to turn the car off. the key can not be removed and i have to disconnect the battery. the gears automatically slides from r to l without pressing the button. i was told there was a recall in 2012 for the shift lever and that the part expired a year later when the previous owner had it. i recently purchased the vehicle 8 months ago. i have taken my car to chevrolet and they confirm it is the shift lever. i am required to pay for the fix even though there was a recall almost 2 years ago which appears to me to be the same problem. *tr

I was stopped to wait on oncoming cars to pass to turn left onto a street. as i was about to turn with my children in the car the steering wheel locked up and would not turn.if, my steering wheel would have not been turned already, as i was getting ready to turn, i would have been hit on the right side where my child was sitting. i had no option but to drive up on the curb. this is the same situation as the 2008 and 2009 model malibu's which have a recall on them for steering:electric power assist system gm's recall #14v15300 recalled 3/31/14. obviously this recall needs to be added to the 2010 model since it is still occuring. i took my car to the freeland chev. where they had to replace the entire steering column due to the bad torque sensor. this cost me 689.00 to replace, i feel gm should take responsibility for this and add the 2010 model malibu to the recall list so that i can be reimbursed for their error and so their customers that put trust in purchasing their vehicles are safe. to note i have contacted and spoke with several reps at gm none of which offered any type of help with this matter. *tr

Car was recalled for #13036 from estero bay chevrolet 9/05/2014 estero florida.the car is still malfunctioning. taken car back to dealer, they stated they check the work done. the car still shift out park and gets stuff in park and will not shift out without forcing the shifter and the brake. 9/18/2014 taken car back to dealer and told them the car is still malfunctioning. the said it did not do it for them. i stated you need to drive the car for at least half hour to malfunction. i feel gm is trying to fix the problem the cheapest way possible, by placing a washer and grease on the wire harness. i feel the entire bcm ( brake stabilty comtrol module) wire harness should be replaced. they have has the car for 2.1/2 days anc ould not fix it. i have proceeds to call gm about this problem.. i have not driven this car in 5 months because of the problems to the car. this car is used by my daughter and my infant grandson. i now have been making car payments on it for 5 months and could not use it. very disappointmend in gm.. *tr

I was trying to reverse my 2010 chevrolet malibu ls when i realized i couldn't get my car out of park. the shift cable in my transmission is broken! this same shift cable that was replaced during the first round of recalls back in early 2013 is now broken! *tr

Shaking, with the traction control and engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. contact also stated that the gas pedal sank to the floor. the vehicle was towed to a dealer who stated the at the throttle body and connector needed to be replaced to repair the vehicle. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 53143. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I drive a chevy malibu 2010. around 3 pm i had barely drop of my wife at her work site. when i was doing a u turn to head back home i had the reverse gear to back up but has soon has i put the drive gear my car wouldn't move. i tried the rest of the gears but none work. i was stuck in the middle of the street blocking traffic. my car is like stuck in the parking gear mode and even though i try the other driving gears none of them work. i called the agency and they told me to call a tow truck to bring it in. i told the agent to do all the recall that were out for my vehicle. the agent said he would call me when this was done. it's been 2 days and i haven't heard anything from my car till this point. i was looking up the recalls and found one with this exact problem but it's only for chevy malibu 2013.this recall number is 14048. i wanted to know if there is going to be a recall for the 2010 models. the miles on my vehicle are approximately about 43,300. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed and the engine reduced power light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 39,906.

So about 2 months ago the service traction light came on briefly and didn't come back on for a while. then about 2 weeks ago it started going off almost everytime i drove. i brought it to the dealership that i bought it in kannapolis, nc called classic chevrolet on 5/3/14. they said i could pay 98.00 to get it hooked up to the computer reader, but the light was off so i decided i didn't really have 98.00 to waste. as it had been hooked up to a code reader when the light was off before and didn't read anything. there is an option to turn off the traction control so i was driving with it off. we went to michigan on 5/8/14 it was driving fine. light never came on. when we were in michigan it started going on again, again driving with the traction control off. it was hooked up to a computer and no codes came up and light goes off when you turn it off and never came back on our whole way home. nothing felt or sounded different with the driving. driving fine to drop off our son at practice this morning 5/17/14, turned on car to go pick him up and couldn't reverse, but would go forward. i had my husband and his brother push us out of the driveway and it was driving fine for the first 3 blocks, then started to chug and wouldn't shift correctly leaving a stop light. i turned around on a circle drive. we live on a culdesac so i pulled ahead of our house, so we could push it back in the drive way. when my husband came back out it was like locked, we couldn't push it in reverse. then it wouldn't go forward. my husband unhooked the battery and was able to reverse with struggle and pull into the driveway with struggle. during all of this, the brakes have been illuminating when not being pushed and sometime they don't even work. *js

While stopped engine light came on. proceeding to 20 to 30 mph, forward motion disengaged and rpm went above 3k with any motion. power train grinded and staggered to motion. stopped and called for tow. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, there was a reduction in engine power as the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where unknown repairs were performed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 1v460000 (power train). the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 140,000 and the current mileage was 143,700.

The vehicle is a 2010 chevy malibu with less then 61,000 miles on it. i purchased the vehicle last year and the transmission has went out on it 3 times within a month. all three times i have taken it to an certified chevrolet dealership. after the second time they fixed my transmission the steering shaft was loose and i could have been killed or killed someone. after about 4 days after repairs the transmission will go out again. the car is not even 5 years old with 61,000 miles on it. this is truly disappointing, and it has cost me money and time. *tr

In january of 2014 , my father noticed there was a huge dark spot on my side of the drive way. so later in the day i take my car to valvoline and they let me know that my care is leaking oil. i take the car to sallas auto shop and they tell me that my cars axel shaft has a lot of play, which is causing the axel seal to leak, which shouldnt be the case because it was repaired before i purchased the car. they deem my car unsafe to drive and they have me leave my car at the shop so they can fix it. not even a week later its leaking again so i take it back to them and they cant really figure out why its still leaking so they do a full body inspection and find that, not only has it been leaking but its been shooting shrap metal into my transmission(causing me to later have to actually replace the whole transmission). so i take my car back to the guy i bought it from and he tries to fix it and claims he stopped the leak. not trusting his skills i finally take it to chevy and after having it "fixed" several prior times, chevy actually fixes it this time around. apparenetly there is a special tool that has to be used to repair this particular part that not a lot of mechanics have, but chevy does. ive done my research online and this has happened to a few other people, which seems to be a manufacturing issue. because of the leak my car was deemed undrivable for prevention of an accident, i was out of a car for about a week and a half as well as the costs of getting this problem repaired. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving at various speeds, the service esc, traction control, and reduced engine power warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle independently lost power. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not taken in for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 75,000.

The tps sensor was shot. the warranty didn't cover it. i got stranded on the highway at night because my car was bucking and i got scared because the power of the engine kept fluctuating. i later read about many other malibu owners that have had the same problem. this is a safety issue and should be looked at seriously by gm! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the traction control and the service esc warning indicators had illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission, the power steering control module, and the electronic control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 14e044000 (steering ) however the vin was not included. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 92,958.

The automatic transmission would shift into neutral while at red lights and/or driving without warning. i reported it to my dealer and because the technicians could not replicate or get an error message i was dismissed. upon dismissal at the dealership the transmission disengaged again. i notified onstar and refused to move the car without a tow. only then did my dealer begrudgingly replace my transmission, however, they did not bolt it down. another dealer finished the repair. i have since traded the vehicle, however, considering what is going on with general motors, this is another model that should be investigated. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that he received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 12v460000 (power train:automatic transmission:gear position indication (prndl)). the contact attempted to have the vehicle repaired but the dealer advised that they did not have the necessary parts readily available. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that she received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 12v460000 (power train:automatic transmission:gear position indication (prndl)). the contact attempted to have the vehicle repaired but she was advised by the dealer that the parts needed to complete the recall repair would not become available until january 2013. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was unknown.

The rack and pinion on drivers side end rattles at slow speed. i have tried 3 different brand front brakes and all have squeaked, the transmission cooler line started leaking.the car has 69,000 on it as of now 1/26/2013. dealer want fix any of the problem under the drive train warranty. also has cold start engine knock. *tr

While driving my 2010 chevy malibu lt (ecotech engine), the engine starts to stutter and the esc shuts off and claims it needs servicing. the esc will go on and off randomly. the check engine light comes on as well. i have had the codes read multiple times and changed multiple parts but to no avail. it keeps stating that there is a misfire in cylinder 1. have changed spark plugs and coil packs. the stuttering happens at all speeds, including while accelerating and idling. there's also been times of tough steering as if the power steering is not working properly. i have noticed it happens more often in late spring through summer when the temperatures outside are higher. i have checked and there is not a crack in the head gasket or the head. *tr

Trans appears to be slipping ...when accelerating car does not move ..car bucks when gears shift. *tr

Defective door latches. both driver side front and back door problems since i purchased my 2010 chevrolet malibu back in 2012. driver door would not open or not shut. contacted gm twice and no assistance from gm. i purchased a aftermarket door latch and replaced the driver door latch in jan 2018 and have no more problem since. driver back door i have not been able to open since 2015 and because the back door wont open, there is no way to replace the latch. if a fire or accident happens there is no exit from drivers side back door. without warning on a 7 year old vehicle, the transmission failed in aug 2017 136000 miles. expensive replacement.

Transmission forgets how to shift when driving uphill at around 65 mph and rpms start bouncing between 2000 to 2400 rpm. this will continue for quite some time and typically happens when outdoor ambient temp is above 90f. this problem causes a serious safety issue on the highway as cars are bearing down on you at 70 mph plus and your car refuses to accelerate. this car is a death box and disaster waiting to happen. i guess before anyone will do anything about it people have to die first. this vehicle has been to the dealership more than 4 times for the issue and they always say it can't be replicated and have reprogrammed the computer. the 2010 chevy malibu is a lemon! the problem began occurring after 1000 miles and we have given up taking it to the dealer to get fixed. it is obvious they have no clue how to fix it and refuse to acknowledge the problem. we now have 19000 miles on it and the problem never goes away. i wish we could burn this car to the ground. i have documented many other malibu 2.4l owners with the same issue. *tr
