We have classified the 212 complaints from 2010 Chevrolet Malibu about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
I was driving on the i89 north in concord, nh when the car suddenly stopped accelerating and the rpms went really high. i heard a spinning noise - like something was spinning at a high rate of speed. pressing the gas peddle didn't increase the cars speed. then i shifted to the manual mode and tried to use the gear shifting paddles to shift. i was able to get it to a gear to get me to the next exit even though it kept shifting in and out of gear while i proceeded slowly off the highway. the check engine light came on steady. at highway speeds this was a very dangerous situation that put myself and everyone around me at risk of a major accident. once i was off the highway and safe, i plugged in my diagnostics tool i carry in my car (i took a auto repair class a few years back). the diagnosis codes the cars computer provided are p0776 and p0700 - indicating a major malfunction of the transmission and a solenoid problem. i took a photo of the codes. i found out today that there is an extended warranty for the same issue on the 2009 chevy malibu's. the extended the warranty from 5/100k to 10/120k. clearly gm should do the same for the 2010 models as well. it's the same 6 speed transmission.
Headlight bulbs keep burning out and random. paid $432 to chevrolet dealership to fix problem and it is still occuring.
Service esc, service traction, picture of car skidding, tires need air and picture of tire that looks flat keeps coming up on my panel. this never happened prior to having new tires and brakes put on my car at hendrix chevrolet in durham, nc. i only have 40+ thousand miles on my car. at 20,000 my right front rotar and brakes had to be replace because it was roaring and i literally had to have it towed to my home. i bought the car new when my son worked at hendrix (thought it was a good idea). he wasn't working there when this happened but he fixed it and then hendrix said they could not reimburse me because he wasn't a current employee. i love my car but have had nothing but problems with it! please let me know what to do to get the first issues i mentioned corrected! i'm getting different answers from everyone i talk too. i see many people on the internet are complaining of the same problem with their malibu as well!
Drivers door will not open. door locks work but outside and inside door handles/latches will not open door. it is in a solid state of being locked. thie door will not open when parked and ignition off nor with ignition on. brakes engaged, brakes disengaged doesn't matter. safety issue in case i need to get out asap.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving at an unknown speed, the reduce power, check engine, and esc service traction indicators illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an unknown independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle box, idle control sensor, module control sensor, throttle position sensor, oxygen control sensor, and the transmission control module needed to be repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 173,000.
Im having electric problems with car. the brake light come on when driving and not using the brakes. it will go off and on. the dash lights would come on and off . there is some kind of electric problem going on. i had people and police following me let me know about the braking light comming on going down the road
Esc,traction, abs lights come on while car is moving, and when first starting, a trouble code c0131 has been recorded. the problem started in june of 2010. a week after we got the car, the dealer changed brake lite switch, the car has been back to shop 15-20 times it is now 8-9-2017 no one can fix problem, made calls to gm costomer service many times over the 7 years, still no fix, gm wants us to pay for repair and diagnostic as too the car is out of warranty ,we feel gm should repair the car free of charge as to this is dangerous and has never been fixed ,
Recall 13036d: i was extremely disappointed to learn that the issue with my 2010 malibu was not covered under recall 13036d. i have had issues with this car for over a year and have taken it to the chevrolet dealership that i purchased the car from multiple times. they have performed the "fix" listed below as found at https://gm.oemdtc.com/4133/13036d-product-safety-recall-brake-lamp-malfunction-2004-2012-chevrolet-pontiac-saturn. this resolved the issue for less than a week. my cruise control does not respond. my brake lights constantly turn on when the brake pedal is not pushed and turn off when the brake is pressed. this is a highly dangerous situation and obviously due to a faulty product. there is no way that this could have been prevented by the consumer, me. the last time i took the car in to have this looked at they told me that the body control module would need to be replaced and the part is $600. that is completely unacceptable. why on earth, would i pay to have a part replaced when the company, that means you chevy, is aware that there is an issue which is potentially dangerous to the customer. i have been a chevy owner all my life and i have always recommended your product to people looking to purchase new or used vehicles, due to the reliability i have experienced. but this issue is more than enough for me to never want to deal with your company again. if you know the part is malfunctioning and the workaround does not completely resolve the issue then the part needs to be replaced on your dime and not at the expense of the customer. that should be common sense and really just good business. i hope you, as a company, can see the light and resolve this issue without needing a loyal customer to send an angry email for something that should have been resolved as soon as the problem arose.
I have been stranded too many times with this vehicle. the vehicle just won't start sometimes and i have numerous people saying it is the security malfunction in the vehicle preventing the vehicle won't start. i've spent so much time and money. i do not recommend anyone buying this product. it is chevrolet malibu. note, this is maybe 15th times it happen to me within 2 months period of time.
Takata recall the breaks are coming on when the break is not engaged and when the break light is engaged it doesn't come on. i have been to get a break light switched out twice and still having the same problem. over and over and the service traction light also seems to keep coming on and they cannot figure out why. i am wasting money because no one can seem to figure i they problem. this is a very serious dangerous problem and needs to be under recall.
The electrical randomly malfunctions sometimes the interior and exterior lights won't work and they randomly come on or go off while driving. while i was driving down the highway the headlights stopped working and it was almost dark out side i had to pull over and turn off the car and restart it a couple times before they came back on. there is a leak somewhere that causes the car to overheat. the motor blower for the heating and cooling will also randomly stop working. the windshield wipers broke and after replacing and fixing the part they broke again while i was driving down a crowded highway in the pouring rain. i fixed the windshield wipers 2 times and they still continue to malfunction and quit working. the exauhst has a leak. the transmission malfunctions and doesn't shift right while driving it takes forever to shift and one time while driving the vehicle started to lose power and would barely drive when i would give it gas and the brakes wouldn't work it was like that for about 8 minutes before it finally started to work properly. there is a piece that connects to the transmission that keeps coming undone causing the vehicle to not be able to shift gears. i started the vehicle and tried to put it in drive but it wouldn't work and i fixed the problem and upon arriving at my destination the vehicle went into park but continued to move i had to use the emergency brake to stop it. the warning light for the engine, traction control stability and the tires has been on for several months. the turn signals randomly quit working while driving when i first turn them on they don't work but after a couple seconds they start to work. the mid flap came off while i was driving 55 mph down the highway and almost caused me to wreck. the parts affected is the electrical, body, power train, lighting, wheels, suspension, brakes, visibility/wipers and the engine.
The brake lights come on without pressing the brake pedal. the dealer took the car in and said their diagnostics did not show any problem. i followed my wife home and for the last mile the brake lights stayed on.
This has happened a few times to me now. i was heading home on the highway with the cruise control set on about 67 mph and all of the sudden the engine lost power and the car starts coasting. "engine power reduced" came across the computer display. like i said, this has happened before. i could pull over to a stop, shut off the car and it would reset, and the car would be fine for me to make it home. but this last time, the car would not restart at all. i got the car towed home, checked the battery, the cables, and even replaced the starter , and it still does the same thing.... starter will not engage to turn the motor over to start.
Had camshaft sensor installed less than a year ago and engine came on with same sensor code. the electrical system is going out constantly and headlight bulb was repaired 4 times less than a year. cost me over 600 total one service was done for free because it was repaired and blew the next day. so much work and barely drive to car to and from work only 2 miles. i plan to make a complaint to the attorney general for explanations if not solved or reimbursed. the vehicle stays in the shop more than use. traction control sensor replaces and came back 2 weeks later. the vehicle also stalled with my children on a busy street where a vehicle almost struck the back side missing my daughter by inches. unsafe vehicle and too many malfuctions.
The steering wheel started shaking on its own and i would move the wheel and it would stop. it has been doing this for about a month and would have like a ticking noise. this week i was driving to work and the wheel shook again and then it locked and i was unable to move it. i was driving! i got to a red light and it would not move. i turned the car off and turned it back on and the wheel would move again. a light came on and said power steering eps needs attention. it kept happening again and again and it was scary because there was traffic. i had to drive it like that back home because it is not safe to drive especially trying to turn the wheel in corners. that can cause a crash. also, i've always had issues with the sensors on the car. i have had to replace fuses often, different sensor lights come on it keeps saying (abs) and the headlights have to be replaced often because of an electric short.
My 2010 malibu headlights were replaced five times in a year. i paid over 1000.00 just to have a 15.00 light bulb replaced. something is happening because it occurs only on the passenger side only. there should be some type of recall or reimbursement. as of today. i can not afford to spend 200.00 just to go out again in a week. i am driving with one light because i refuse to fix it until gm do something about this problem. this is insane and something needs to get done immediately.
The instrument cluster that controls the gear shift that shows if i am in park, reverse, drive, manual don't work with this issue as well as the control panel behind the steering wheel that shows my miles per hour, fuel level, temperature gauge, mileage and more. this is a severe safety risk and i have had my part for this ordered twice but there is so many of this year, make and model car that is needing them that they are back logged out several months. i live in valdosta ga and have to drive around town for the law firm that i work for and this car is so unsafe that i can't drive it bc i have ran out of gas several times and was stranded. can't tell how fast i'm going so i have been pulled over several times do to that as well.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while operating the vehicle, the esc and traction control sensors illuminated and the cruise control failed to operate. in addition, the rear brake lights illuminated while driving and turned off when depressing the brake pedal. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that an electrical connector was faulty. the connector was replaced and the failure was remedied. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact was informed that the faulty connector was a different connector associated with nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (service brakes, electrical system, exterior lighting). the failure mileage was 84,325.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the rpms increased; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. there was also an abnormal noise detected from the vehicle and the speedometer was not displaying the correct speed. the contact also mentioned that the instrument panel lighting flashed on and off. the vehicle was taken to cardinal buick gmc (3800 il-15, belleville, il 62226, (618) 233-0303) where the contact was informed that the electrical cluster needed to be replaced and no failure was found with the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 40,000.
I was involved in a hit and run back in march 2017 the person backed into the pass-side of my car as i was driving 35 mph down the main road , the side impact airbag did not deploy from impact , the dealership said this is not a takata issue as they were replaced by the current recall and they don't know why they didn't deploy . the electrical issue is the onstar response system didn't detect the crash and call for help- i had to push the button to get help . the car can not get directions sent to it from onstar and the electrical keeps failing/loosing power and i was told to replace the batter and alternator but it still does it and the wires r fine . dealership told me to replace the computer control system but seems their guessing and i don't have $1,200 around to do it . the side impact airbag should of deployed and the onstar sensor should of detected it and called for help.
Ignition problems, electrical problems throughout the car and brake light ,plus transmission is not shifting gears.
Drivers side door will not unlock and will not open sometimes and will not close sometimes when opened. when it wont open it feels like the handles are not grabbing anything. the door jams are clear of any debris. when it wont shut it will sound like it did but will bounce open. the door opened on me while i was driving. this is very unsafe. the lock knobs move up and down when you unlock them but the door still will not open sometimes. this has been going on for 3 days. it will not open when the car is stationary and the door came open on me while driving on a city street. i did not hit any holes or bumps. *tr
Brake lights stay illuminated while driving and turns off when brake pedal is engaged. it is also illuminated while the car is running and while idling in park. this happens on a daily basis. there has been no resolution to this issue despite being assessed by a technician on numerous occasions. the esc and traction control lights on cluster constantly stays illuminated as well as the tire sensor indicator. the cruise control malfunctions too. no one ever knows how to repair these issues. i do not have the funds to put into this vehicle any longer. i am afraid to drive this vehicle every time i get in it. it is a danger to all on the roadways when a vehicle's brake system fails in any way. i have no other choice as this is the only vehicle my family owns at this time. from what i have read, gm has multiple vehicles in operation with the same issues. what makes it so bad, the problems date back as far as 2004. how do you keep producing cars with the same issues year after year? are there no repercussions? please help.
I was driving on the highway, going 60mph. the car suddenly slowed down to about 5mph and started violently shaking, and i had to quickly pull to the shoulder lane, "reduced engine speed" appeared on the dashboard, along with "esc traction control". restarted my car and the light went off. about 15 mins later, it did the same thing. this is extremely dangerous for myself and other people around me.
Car door will go out. car door will not open and will be stuck closed. car was stationary. had to go out through the windows. could be very dangerous if you were in an emergency and couldn't exit veichle because the doors wouldn't open.
While the vehicle is at idle (stop light), the engine surges and sputters and the service traction control / ecs lights appear on the dashboard and the check engine light illuminates. the car will then accelerate very slowly only up to about 20 mph. i had the car fixed at a gm dealer about a year ago for a vehicle recall on the main body wiring connector to bcm. note: the gm fix is to "clean" the connector and add dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. the car was fine after that until now. i've seen many of the same complaints on the internet regarding this issue and i believe the "fix" is only temporary.
We own a 2010 chevrolet malibu ltz, we have taken it to the dealer to perform a recall for the brake lights coming on by their self and staying on till you touch the brake, then they will go off for 6 seconds then come on again. we took back to the dealer to look at it again and they said it was brake light switch this time. i have read that other people have changed the brake light switch and still had the problem. i also read that the bcm needed to be replaced to correct this problem after the recall was done. the dealer put some dielectric silicone grease on the connector as a band-aid on the real problem. i assume if the bcm needs to be replaced that would cost gm to much money. i know that a lot of people are having this problem and believe it has been going on since 2004 on many different models. please help us.
Driving to drop off kids at school had a odor of plastic and wire burning as soon as my child got of the vehicle drove off car shut off feet away from school when the odor and smoke started getting really nothing worked all power was off .got off right away notice the smoke coming from trunk could not open trunk with remote or button . once we got the trunk open inspected trunk area a fuse block and fuses were all melted and burnt. *tr
2010 malibu with 108,xxx miles, headlights go out at various times, bulbs have been replaced and the issue continues. no help from dealer except offer to replace headlights again.
My service esc/traction light comes on and the brakes comes o without being pressed, this doesn't happen all the time. i have had it looked at and the mechanic couldn't find anything wrong. i have researched my vin and there are no recalls, however i have noticed that the brake issue has been recalled on malibu's before. the brake comes on randomly while i am driving so does the esc light, on various surfaces. *tr
I am a physician and i purchased the vehicle new in july, 2010. my son is currently driving the vehicle in michigan while attending medical school. for the past 5 months he have experienced disabling of the crash avoidance features including the traction control and the electronic stability control with the appropriate lights on and off on the dash. these are all compatible with recall number 13036 of this chevrolet malibu and he called matthews-hargeaves chevrolet in royal oak, mi and they told him he would have to pay $100 for them to look up the recall so i did not take the vehicle in at that time. he also had the recall for the drivers seat belt light which was malfunctioning and they gave him the same answer. during the past 10 days the brake lights have been malfunctioning going on when not applying the brakes and going off when applying the brakes. he was notified by two other drivers and noticed it in the garage and then had the police check them. he was almost rear ended on two occasions. the vehicle is now too dangerous to drive. i have flown up to detroit and will take the vehicle to matthews-hargreaves myself to have this fixed. i have the recall for the seat belt which is not fixed but when i put up the vin number it now shows no recalls and that cannot be correct. i now have the body control module problem (recall number 13036) but if still have not received anything further from chevrolet and the dealer is demanding $100 just to check. i would like to file a formal complaint and am seeking your assistance since this vehicle is unsafe to drive. these events have happened on multiple occasions with increasing frequency. *tr
My 2010 malibu lt, had the 13036 recall 11/03/2014 after i received the notice from gm. there were no malfunctions at that time. now as i speak, the brake lights comes on without me hitting the brake peddle and they all go off when i hit the brakes, when i talked to the dealer they recommend i bring it in and they will try to find out what is causing this. price range $500.00-$1250.00. now if you look on any gm forum page or just google the situation that i am having, you will find thousands of the same problem. it looks like gm does not have safety in mind after you purchase their vehicles! the 13036 recall has been revised several times, so if you had the recall performed in the early stages, they note your vehicle as completed and send you on your way. i can not drive my car because of this issue- that sucks!!!!! i contacted gm, by email and also left a message last year when the service traction control warning message started. i have not heard from gm. still no safety recall!!!!
I purchased this car in september 2016 and not more than two days of owning it my esc lights disabled and my brake lights were stuck on, i brought it into the dealership and they replaced the break pedal sensor, and the lights came on again, i brought it in again and they once again replaced the sensor, this problem has yet to be fixed almost two years later, the esc constantly disables and the brake lights come on and stay stuck i am lucky i have not been in an accident. the dealership i bought it from have failed on several occasions to fix this problem. now they are telling me i will have to pay for a problem that they never actually fixed. i will be driving and my check traction light will come on and my esc light will say off. you can see by the attached document i originally reported this problem on 9/26/2016, i purchased the car september 24, 2016... two days later and this issue started occurring and now two years later and it is still not fixed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the anti theft system warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 38,000.
Vehicle has service airbag on repeatedly, seat belt alarm goes off even when seat belt is properly fastened. while driving car suddenly lost power and service esc, service traction control, engine power reduced. car suddenly dropped down to 27 mph in the middle of traffic. i was able to avoid a serious accident by suddenly turning into a parking lot. this is very dangerous and can be fatal if occurs on freeway. no one can provide any reason as to why this keeps happening. i have no warranty on vehicle and purchased from a dealer 3 years ago. i have called the dealer and have had car looked at but the only suggestion is to blindly replace different sensors and parts. we need a recall done so no lives are lost due to this severe car malfunction.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 55 mph, the brake light illuminated intermittently without the brake pedal being depressed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 14v250000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system, exterior lighting), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage and vin were not available.
Was turning onto the interstate and the rpm was at 5 but i was only going 20 mph.
Dashboard cluster is out and goes in and out as well as the digital gear change. it started giving me transmition issues and now anything digital is completely out.
I got the car in 2015 and from that i have had problem with the steering light coming on and shutting off the power steering which my wife was driving and she lost control of the car and almost ran into a pole. this has happened more than one time and when she turn off the car, it works again but then happens again. i have more problems with the headlights going out over and over and the socket being burned out and have to replace them as well now my radio has power but doesn't come on, after it was just working. i can't hear any door chimes or turn signal signs. it like a problem after a problem with the electrical components in this car. i am buy this car but we don't even feel safe to drive it. it has only 79000 miles but the problems started happening around 50,000 miles and when i got the car it had 43,000 miles i believe.
Vehicle was moving at about 35 mph when the drivers information center indicated a electronic stability service, traction control service and esc off messages. this happened multiple times over a two day period. car was taken to dealer for diagnostics and they said that the computer had stored a p0300 code which is engine misfire. the engine runs fine however there is a slight vibration at idle while in park or neutral. gm also sent out a letter to me stating that there was a problem with the throttle posistion sensor that may cause this to happen. the dealer did not attempt to diagnos the problem with the sensor and stated that the engine had a bad #2 cyclinder with compression at 100lbs. the p0300 code can be caused by the various electronic messages that have appeared and the engine is not the problem. they wanted to tear it down at a cost of $2300 to fix a problem that does not exist. this car only has 39000 miles on it. there are numerous reports of this same isssue with nhtsa and gm has not dealt with the problem. another issue relating to this is the fact that the engine reduced power message comes on in some vehilcle and the car slows down and is very dangerous to drive on the higways. so far my car has not done that. i believe there should be some pressure exerted on gm to correct these multiple problems with their vehicle since the government bailed them out along with our taxpayer funds.
Brake lamp malfunction. brake lights stay on until brake pedal pushed at which time, brake lights extinguish. traction control and cruise control also fail. same vehicle with same issue was previously subject to safety recall 13036. recall was completed and issue continued. brake apply sensor was replaced, prior to recall and issue remained. recall work was completed on 11/15/14. issues intermittently occur and in june 2016 vehicle taken to gm dealer where brake apply sensor was replaced. issue still remains as brake lights stay on until pedal pushed, traction control and cruise control failure. a previous complaint was filed with nhtsa regarding this vehicle and above issues prior to recall. issues occur when vehicle is stationary, and in motion on city streets and interstate highways. more documents available upon request
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving at any speed, the brake lights remained illuminated. when the brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights turned off. the contact stated that "service esc" and "traction control is off " appeared on the instrument panel. also, the steering and accelerator pedal felt heavy and the vehicle slowed down. the issue recurred numerous times. the contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control) and was repaired in 2014. the failure recurred. the dealer and manufacturer were notified. the vehicle was not repaired again. the approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
Had to get a repair on the exhaust vvt solenoid for the exhaust side of the engine. codes: p0013 & p0014.
The body control module (bcm) went out and the dealer or gm will not pay for the repairs despite there being known issues and recalls involving issues with the bcm. the gauge will not work correctly, the lights flicker, the shifting is affected, etc. please see recalls 14v252000, 14v252000, 14v252000 & 14v252000.
I was turning onto a freeway on ramp when a engine power reduced message came up on my dashboard. the cars speed then dropped to about 10 miles an hour and started shaking violently. thankfully i was only moving at about 30 mph and was able to pull to the shoulder safely.
Right now i have the service esc and service traction light on again for the 3rd time. i took each time to chevy classic in grapevine tx and they told me no codes the 1st time, took it to clay cooley in irving--light came on then no codes they showed. today 4-15=16 light came on again and i took it to classic chevy and they found 3 codes this time. they say i will have to pay for this! i should not since there was an open recall on 5/14/2014 for 2010 malibu's. my car is doing this now !@!!@ it needs to be fixed at no charge to me!! i feel like this is the most dangerous car on the road for me and my daughter. i don't want to be a statistic if we have a car crash and it was all because chevy kept making excuses to not fix my crap car for me. the other recall was the brake system not illuminating i got that letter a little too late . someone rear ended me in oct 2012 while i was stopped at a red light. maybe those stupid back brake lights were not working then!!!!!! someone at classic or clay cooolye chevy needs to fix this esc light on my car and fix all the recalls for free. i also have an eps recall letter that was sent to me but someone at chevy told me the light has to come on for them to fix it. this is ridiculous. my car needs to be fixed for all these problems it has no matter if the light is on or not. but the light is on for service esc and traction right now!@ gm or chevy needs to pay for it and fix this car. the consumer stated the dealer did not completely fix the problem. they only lubricated and she continued to experience problems with the brakes, service light and esc light. also, the front axle was leaking.
My 2010 chevy malibu lt 2.4 l began misfiring on cylinder 1 giving me th codes p0201 and p0301. after getting those readings i began driving home and the car began to jerk and lose power followed by the service traction and service esc warning lights flashing along with the engine light. so i began to accelerate again and the gears had trouble shifting and horse power was reduce when trying to take off. the car would slip gear at 40 mph and around 60 - 65 mph. lights will not go off unless negative battery post is removed and then reconnected.then problem returns when car is driven again. i searched my vin number and there is no recall for my vin but my car has the same issues as 100s of other 2010 chevy malibus. i really dont feel safe driving this car. i wish i any other option to getting this problem fixed asap!!!
My 2010 chevy malibu driver side front door will not open. driver door will not open from the inside of the vehicle after the doors are unlocked or from the outside by pulling on the handle. it does not matter if you unlock from inside using unlock/lock button on door or outside using key fob, the door will not open. major safety issue in the event of an accident or an emergency, the driver or passengers whose doors are affected will not be able to get out of the affected door. tried penetrating oil and grease to lubricate actuator and has not fixed problem. also happens randomly, does not matter temperature or weather conditions. no current recalls out on this issue, and repair costs range upwards of $350. the pull handle inside the car feels like it is not engaging with the components to unlatch the door, and the same feeling is observed when trying to open the car on the outside using the outside door handle.
2010 chevrolet malibu. consumer writes in regards to esc light continuously illuminating and trac control switch issues. *smd the consumer stated after the part was replaced, the esc light illuminated again. the consumer continued to report the trac service light was still displayed. the dealer stated it was a possible bcm internal failure. the consumer received a recall notice shortly thereafter regarding an issue with the bcm connection system which could result i a malfunction. one of the symptoms of the problem, as stated in the notice was traction control, electronic stability control, and panic braking assist features, if equipped may be disabled. the vehicle was repaired at no cost to the consumer *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the service esc warning indicator illuminated intermittently. in addition, the brake light illuminated without the pedal being depressed. the contact stated that the brake light stopped functioning after the pedal was depressed. in addition, the traction and cruise control failed. the failure occurred approximately six times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pedal position sensor needed to be replaced and the brake switch needed to be calibrated. the switch was calibrated; however, the failure recurred. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number" 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control); however, the vin was not included. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000. updated 05/11/16*lj *tr
