Service the airbag light kept coming on intermittently for a couple of years until it stayed on constantly. mechanic says the (box) is burned out and must be replaced at cost of$300. i understand 07 malibu have this problem. i want to know why it hasn't been recalled since airbags save lives and without them we are at risk. *tr
A couple of issues with this car!!! first off, the latest recall done in 2014 with the brake lights not illuminating when pedal pressed but did when pedal wasn't depressed.after calling and going to multiple gm dealers, i had to research how to fix the problem and tell the gm dealer how! the issue is starting to act up again now. starts off with the gear shift being nearly impossible to pull out of park and the cruise control acting up.wow, now a recall? second. the seering wheel has on 2 occasions jerked violently to one side then back and forth on it's own...while driving! almost as if the vehicle looses all power/dash lights come on it then jerks and makes a weird nose before it flips upside down and locks up! my 15 year old niece (who has had her permit 3 months) was driving one of the times! third - the airbag light randomly comes on / goes off when someone is sitting in the seat. i think i' should get all my $ back from the times i took my car in to find out "what the problem was" and had fixed (temporarily apparently) and now recalls are coming! honestly - there are enough things to worry about while driving (drunks, bad drivers, blow outs etc.) it's unsettling to have "known" issues with your vehicle but these companies will not fix! *tr
I own a 2007 chevrolet malibu lt, purchased new from a dealership in sylvania ohio in september of 2007. some time in 2012, the service air bag light began coming on intermittently, but was not consistently a problem. later, the light indicating if a passenger was present would either not turn on when a passenger was present, or remain on after a passenger had exited the vehicle; this, too, was an inconsistent problem. upon vehicle inspection by the dealership, i was told that the passenger presence senor was "malfunctioning", which indicates that the air bag system is not working properly. when asked what might cause this issue, i was told that "it just happens sometimes", which suggests to me there may be a manufacturing defect with the part. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that as the vehicle was started, the air bag warning light illuminated. in addition, a loud and abnormal noise was heard from the engine as the air bag warning light illuminated. the dealer was notified of the failure who advised having a diagnostic test performed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 111,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the front driver side air bag warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 37,467.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. while attempting to start the vehicle, the service air bag warning was displayed across the message board. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 113,044.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the air bag warning light would illuminate on an intermittent basis. the remained illuminated and would no longer recognize when the seat was occupied. the dealer inspected the vehicle and they advised the contact that the front passenger air bag module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. in addition, when attempting turns and driving at low speeds, the contact noticed that there was a loud clunking noise. the vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised her that the intermediate steering shaft would need replacing. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact sustained bruises, but did not receive medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the cause of the air bag failure was unknown. the manufacturer stated that there were no open recalls for the failure. the vin and failure mileage were unknown.
My vehicle was traveling at speed of 35-40mph. at that time i was struck from rear by another vehicle. crash crushed the trunk of my vehicle up to back window. seat belt did fine. just no air bag deployment. *tr
The following codes are active; p0463 fuel level sensor a circuit high input, b0561 abs $43 sys disabled and c0561 sys disabled issues. the fuel gauge was fluctuating, but has now stopped working. the service engine soon light came on and will not reset to off. the service seat belt warning message came on. the problems were intermittent prior to 50,000 miles, but now, just after 50,000 miles nothing resets. i have found that this is a common problem and the repairs are very expensive, yet nothing has been done to convince gm to recall and make repairs. we own a 2006 malibu with 35,000 miles on it. now, i'm worried that it is going to have the same problem as our 2007 malibu. and, who wants to face those repair bills! *kb
The air bags have quit working. the problem seams to be the same as the earlier recall of the cadillacs in which the problem started with the passengers side front air bag light going off and back on. *tr
I had got in a crash in 2010 since then my electrical system and air bag indicator lights are always going on and off. now my airbag lights stay on saying there not on. i also do not have a working fuel pump sensor. *tr
During warm weather, when there is nobody in the passenger seat, the service air bag light will come on from time to time. this happens more during warmer weather. it does not happen at all in the winter. i looked into the problem and it appears that the issue is a faulty passenger presence detector (i think that's what they called it), the sensor that turns on the passenger airbag when there is a passenger. i am not clear on whether or not this means that the driver side airbag is disabled as well. the first gm dealer i took my car to was incompetent and extremely rude. they charged me literally $100 to do absolutely nothing. they could not provide a serious explanation as to why the airbag light was coming on. i called gm customer service, spoke to someone who sent me to another dealer and offered to have gm pay for it. the second gm dealer was extremely rude as well, to the point that they refused to let me have my car back until i paid the bill, even though gm had arranged the appointment and arranged the payment, and specifically told me i did not have to pay for it. this second gm dealership informed me that the passenger presence sensor needed replacement at a cost of $750. i have an after-market warranty from wynn's but they refused to pay for it. i have not had my car repaired. i would like gm to fix this problem with a recall, if possible, and also a refund from the clueless dealer. i would also like a clear answer on whether or not the driver side airbag is working while the service airbag light is on. thank you. *tr
My 4 year old son was in the vehicle with me helping to clean out the car when he was able to put the car into drive without any keys or anything. luckily, i was in the car and was able to get the car back into park but only after it hit a fence and damaged the vehicle because of this issue. i am able to put the vehicle into drive while the car was not running and there were no keys in it. there have also been several instances where i was able to leave it in drive after turning the car off and taking the keys out. it will also allow you to put the vehicle into drive without pressing the brake first. there have been several computer related issues that have also began to happen such as the gas gauge not working properly. it says that i am on empty when in fact the tank is full. the air bag indicator switches back and forth from on to off so i never know if my air bag is actually on or off. all of these issues occur on a daily basis. no repairs have been made to the vehicle. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that whenever the vehicle was driven near a wifi connection, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the failure did exist but could be repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 21,000. the current mileage was approximately 36,000.
Have had problems with the fuel sensor, thought it was fuel level sensor but apparently from all others reports these are several problems with the fuel system. this causes the check engine light to come on and will not allow the remote start to work. also have problems with sensor in passenger seat. just works randomly. very concerned this will interfere with air bag deployment. all of these things were fixed while still under warranty but started doing it again after it expired and too costly to fix on my own. *tt
The passenger side air bag "off" light remains on when passenger weight is approximately 120 pounds or less. the "off" light will turn off when a heavier person is in the front passenger seat. the dealer said, after i bought the car, that the weight setting was not adjustable. chevrolet and gm customer support on the internet was not helpful. the vehicle is used infrequently and seldom with a passenger. current mileage is 17,000 miles. the dealer contacted their district office on 2/5/2015 and he said that the district office told him that the condition was within design parameters. the district office confirmed that when the "off" light is on that the air bag will not work. this is a safety hazard for lightweight adults and children who are riding in the passenger seat. *js
Airbag light on from may thru september every year...on continually. doesn't matter if car is in motion or not. soon as key turns light comes on and stays on.
I recently leased a 2007 malibu. the passenger side airbag does not work when a cushion is placed on it to give my wife the height so she can see. apparently the sensors are set to a heavy weight, so if there are small people such as children in the front passenger seat the airbag safety system will not activate if they sit on a cushion. i spoke to gm customer service people in detroit, and they said they had never heard of this. it seems to me that in designing a safety system, consideration should be given to smaller and lighter people, or have a fix available so the system works. *tr
I purchased this vehicle july 2007. it was a used vehicle. from the first day of purchase the words "passenger air bag needs service" show up on the screen.
Airbag light stays on passage and driver side
