Oil control solenoid valve failure causing loss of power, instability at all speeds, and surging of engine. gm does not have any parts to repair this item and does not have a eta on when they will get them, there are no aftermarket options availible either due to the rate of failure. gm part# 12633613
The check engine light in the vehicle came on and the vehicle began to lose power and then regain power while accelerating and also while still in motion even while not currently accelerating. the problem was diagnosed by the chevy dealership and it was determined that a rocker arm needed to be replaced. the part (#12633613) is not available and there is no estimated time per gm when it will be available again. my vehicle has not been safe to drive and sitting at the dealership since october 15th 2019, it is currently january 8th 2020. this part is an issue for all 2014 and 2015 impala and malibu vehicles with the engine type in the 2014 impala ls. the dealership has referred to the gm part as being defective yet gm has not issued a recall. gm refuses to provide any information regarding the part and will not even confirm if it will ever be produced again. this issue is effecting thousands of vehicles and gm's failure to address this issue is leaving the owners of the affected vehicles driving unsafe vehicles. gm needs to issue a recall or manufacture more of the part if it is simply a production issue (which they will not confirm or deny).
Faulty rocker arm oil control valve, code p2646. gm refuses to recall though it's known issue. gm does not have part nor are they producing it, but there's numerous complaints online and this is a major safety issue. how am i supposed to fix it and make my car safe if they won't make the part? either they recall it or they pay for fix at dealership. i've had two separate mechanics verify this issue and can provide documentation if asked. if i need to hire lawyer for class-action suit i can. there is already a petition on change.org, https://www.change.org/p/general-motors-make-gm-issue-a-recall-for-faulty-rocker-arm-oil-control-valve-in-2014-and-2015-chevy-impala-s-and-malibu-s, with over 500 signatures.
I was driving in highway traffic when the car's engine power shut off, couldn't restart for several attempts. called 911 as a disabled vehicle in center of highway. stabilitytrak and reduced engine power warning came on as well as check engine light. brought to dealer, was told manifold bolts were loose and battery needed replacement. paid dealer $663. the very next morning same thing happened again 3 times before i got to the dealer. after researching i see this is a common problem that gm is not addressing. this is a dangerous situation when engine shuts down on the middle of 4 lane highway! is someone going to have to be killed before gm recalls throttle body/ accelerator problem?

On october 4 while driving on a 2 lane highway in ash flat, arkansas,my 2014 chevrolet impala's engine quit running suddenly. i had no power whatsoever. fortunately, i was able to reach the shoulder of the road. after turning the key off i then back on i was able to start the engine. it seems to be okay. i shudder to think what could have happened on a busy interstate. needless to say, i am apprehensive about driving this vehicle in heavy traffic. i noticed there have been two other similar incidents reported on same year/model cars, i have 55,000.miles on my vehicle.

While i was driving 60mph on an interstate my car notification screen displayed "service stabilitrak"/ "engine power reduced"... then my car acceleration seemed to have died and car slowed all the way down to around 20 mph with the gas pedal diwn to the floor... a big semi truck was behind me and had to break and swerve around me while blowing his horn...i was nearly killed.
2014 chevy impala - 50,000 miles - the vehicle will lose power when trying to accelerate. it will suddenly regain power and the engine will surge. on 8/20/18 i can to a stop at a stop sign in a residential neighborhood. i pressed the accelerator, but the car did not respond and almost stalled. i did not realize how far i was pressing the accelerator, and when the car regained power the front tires squealed from the resulting burnout. luckily, i didn't run anyone over from taking off like this. a mother was with her child on the sidewalk and was not pleased with the way i was driving in an area where kids play. this car has had one problem after the other. i discovered a gm service bulletin pip5507b - "in ambient temperatures 100f or higher, vehicle may exhibit a hesitation or stalling condition - customers can be advised to utilize fuels with octane 91 or higher, refrain from idling, and only park vehicle in a covered garage. as long as you don't use this vehicle, you're fine. i can't believe this is a known safety issue and no recall. i guess someone has to be killed, first.

My impala 2014 suddenly says 'service stabilitrak' in the display and the engine power drastically reduces. i have see this in forums that is a common issue with gm cars and it happened to me couple of times. this is a very dangerous issue when happens at freeways or any faster traffic routes.
4/27 approx 5:20pm @ 70mph, "loss of engine power" and some stabilty warning came on. check engine light and traction light lit, was in center lane, thankfully got to the left berm. car would not accelerate. turned off, touched brake a couple times, sat a few mins, restarted, ck engine light still on, but engine power warning not on, was able to get into moving traffic and took to dealier 4/27 apprx 7pm, with gm rental given to me. as of 1:12pm, no call yet, not sure what the issue is, but could have been fatal!!!! bad, bad bad!!! took a pic, blurry though, frightening! told dealer of sudden surges, but intake rep said it would all be related and didnt write it down.

When decelerating at a red light which turned green, attempted to accelerate with no throttle response, even when pushed to the floor for approximately 2 seconds or more (several similar incidents). second incident, car stalled at a slow speed. third incident, after accelerating the engine rpms stay reving high after taking foot off the gas for several seconds, and this has happened on several occasions and as recently as 9-16-15. these incidents all occured before and after a complete gm dealer reprogrammed the computer.
As a rental vehicle to use while warranty repairs where being performed on my traverse; i had been rented a 2014 impala. to my surprise the following morning i came to a stop and the engine quite, there was a clear lane within site that i figured i could push the dead vehicle to. i opened the door, while keeping my foot on the brake and positioned myself in the door frame to push. then i removed my foot off the brake to reach in and place it into neutral and start pushing. to my surprise the vehicle started by its self and accelerated away from me, the door frame almost knocking me down, yet luckily i was able to catch the car and get back to the brake before the car crashed. i came to find out that this was an economic feature on that vehicle. i feel great concern that this car started when my seat belt had been removed and door opened, would they have at least considered some sort of precaution from this occurring. please take this serious, i know that i was not advised of this feature, and had i not caught the car or gotten knocked down and run over, the outcome would have been much more serious. *tr
This vehicle has a push button engine shut off button. i went to a shopping mall and forgot to shut off the engine. when i returned approx. 1 hour later, the engine was still running. i am concerned should this happen when i park the auto in my closed garage which is located directly below a bedroom. the engine will be running all night and the bedroom will be filled with carbon monoxide resulting in death to the occupants. the vehicle needs a time delay shut off should the driver forget to shut off the engine. the time delay could be set by the manufacturer and should be approximately 15 to 20 minutes otherwise the engine will run forever. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that while parking the vehicle, smoke started to emit from the engine compartment. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician repaired the exhaust but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. however, the parts needed to do the repair were unavailable. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 634.
At 70 mph vehicle slowed on its own. vehicle information center read "stabilitrak and engine power is reduced". got yellow traction control system light on the instrument panel with a "malfunction indicator light" below the speedometer.engine running rough at ashland, va exit.engine was shut down then restarted with same warnings as before.approximately 45 mins later restarted to have a local chevrolet dealer look at the car. on restart, all warnings and indicator lights except for the "malfunction indicator light" were out and engine ran normally.dealer guessed that it was probably a "glitch" and it was probably ok to drive.the 800 or so miles to sarasota were without problems. on 8/5/2013 took car to local dealer approximately 3 miles from my home. on entering the dealer's parking lot at approximately 10 mph the problem reappeared i.e. "engine power reduced with stabilitrak" with warning lights as before. this is a safety issue as it can happen at any time!! *tr
