Reduced engine signal came on shortly after service traction, brakes, steering, came on then car shut off no power to anything. brakes, steering nothing worked. put car in neutral to try a restart nothing. got car to a complete stop took the key out. the dash made a weird noise almost like something reset. i put keys back in turned the key car started no problem only thing the check engine light was on. took vehicle home went back later that night. started it up and check engine light was off. this happens almost once aweek. 2nd issue heater blower going down the road just shut off weather -2 plus a wind chill. had it serviced they replaced a module blower ran fine for 4 days, weather advisory windchill temp is -10 45 miles away from home heater blower not working again. *tr

While driving along a curvy river road my check engine light , my traction control and the stabilize light came out. then the engine reduced power. barely made it home. waited for a few minutes restated the car and it ran normal but still feel the car hesitate. every time i drive it i worry that its coning to do it again. i live in the part of the county that gets snow and am worried its going to happen during a storm, this needs to be addressed. *tr

The car keeps running after it is turned off. the fan also keeps running, then the next morning the car wouldn't start. the air won't turn down and sometimes it doesn't work at all. there doesn't seem to be a difference between air and defrost. while i am driving, the light keep getting dim, then brighter, then dim, then bright. it was the next morning then when it wouldn't start! sometimes when we put the key in, we couldn't get it out. we had to keep trying to turn it on and off, then it finally let us take the key out. *tr
while driving on the highway the "service traction control" message comes on, then, the messages "service stability trak" then "engine power is reduced". and then the car shuts down i had to quickly pull over on the side of the road. after a few minutes the car starts up and everything is fine. this happened twice since then. every couple months the sensor lights would come on with the above message-without car shutting down. the lights come on a lot more often now-although the car does not shut down, it's the fear of the possibility. when googling this problem with the car it sounds like this is a common problem. i'm not sure why there hasn't been a recall. i'm bringing in my car tomorrow to get fixed. however, its upsetting that there seems to be a problem with the throttle position sensor, and there was a recall on a gmc truck in 2008 for this problem. this seems to be a problem regardless of year of miles of the impala. *tr
Throttle control shut down, engine power reduced, car shut down on highway without warning. *tr
I was driving down i-74 outside peoria il and the stabilitrac power reduced popped up on the dash and 3 seconds later it stated the anti-theft engaged and shut my car off. i almost got rear ended by multiple cars on the interstate. i was in the left lane and barely made it to the side of the road. i emailed gm and they have not gotten back to me yet. i emailed them the same day it happened. *tr

My family and i were traveling from newark, nj from the july 4th holiday back home to raleigh nc on 95 south in virginia and going at a speed of 72mph approx. and the car/engine just turned off at that rate of speed with 2 children in the back seat of the vehicle. after we sat on the side of the road for about 45min the vehicle proceeded to start and we made it home to nc. the following business day after the holiday i took it to my mechanic giao auto located on capital blvd in raleigh nc and he could not determine why the vehicle shut off the way it did. so i continued to drive just with precaution. i received a letter on 8/21/2014 regarding the recall and was livid because this has happened to my family while driving on the interstate! i believe that this may happen to my family again and do not want to risk this, so i would like to know what can be done to ensure that my children have a safe vehicle. *tr

The service stabilitrak, traction control, and reduced engine power warnings came on and the car started to lose power going around a curve. i temporarily lost the ability to accelerate nearly causing me to get rear ended by a vehicle behind me. since the incident occurred the car has been very sluggish and unsafe to operate. i am planning to get this serviced asap. after reading many forum posts online regarding this safety issue, i believe a recall should be issued. i was shocked to see how rampant of a problem this and that it is usually caused by a faulty throttle body that isn't covered in the 100k mile powertrain warranty. myself and many others from what i have read believe this to be a very dangerous malfunction. if this were to happen at high speeds on the highway someone could very easily be killed if their car loses power due to this. *tr

While starting my car. notification came up engine power reduced. wasn't able to drive more then 40mph! engine was shaking. *tr
I was driving and suddenly the car lurched and the check engine light came on as well as messages that said, "reduced engine power, check stabilitrak and service traction control". i made it home and parked the car in the driveway for a day and a half and when i started it again, the messages were gone but the engine light was still on. i brought it to my local dealer and when they checked it, it came up stored code p2122- accelerator pedal sensor. i have had this car 6 months and it only has 42426 miles on it and now i've had to spend over $300 on a repair. it is ridiculous that this sensor failed already. after doing some research, i found that this is a common problem with many people experiencing the same thing. gm should be forced to fix this issue and reimburse all of us who have had to pay to fix their mistake. they are obviously using inferior parts and their consumers are paying the price. it's no wonder the american car market needed a bailout when their parts don't last 40,000 miles. *js

Driving on the highway with my daughter who is [xxx] exited to go to my mothers house and the car just died completely out of no where i was driving about 40 mph and barely got it off the road car wouldnt start back up and was flashing service stabilitrak/ service traction control/ and engine power is reduced i had to wait 5 minutes and then the car started thank god my wife wasnt driving who knows what would of happend but it is her car and we need to get this resolved asap before anyone gets hurt so im driving the impala and hope to be safe and let my wife drive my car please help asap we have a [xxx] girl and twins on the way. and this is not the first time my wife has told me this has happened. its very serious and could be deadly!!! *js parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
In may of 2013 i received a message on my dash board about stabili track, traction control and reduced engine speed. i took my car to the chevy dealer so i could get a diagnostic, and they replaced a sensor behind my pedal. just this weekend, sunday april 13, 2014. the message displayed across the dashboard again. i'm going to call the chevy dealer that fixed it the first time. then i'm going to call gm. this is a very dangerous malfunction in these cars. from viewing and reading other stories, this is something gm should have known about and addressed. *js
I was driving on hwy 41 n in south georgia and my engine light comes on and 3 messages come up: 1) service stabiltrac, 2) service traction control, 3( engine power reducing (and it did). then the car seems to want to stop or hesitate like its running out of gas (still have half tank). i become afraid i pull over and put car in park and it's like the car wants to shut off but it doesn't until i shut the engine down (when i slowed down the car started shaking). i bought this car less than six months back and it had only 46,000 miles on it. now i here some rattling coming from some where around the wheel. i have read many other complaints almost identical to mine. today 4/2/2014 the engine light is on but i don't see any of the warnings and the car has not hesitated as badly as it did yesterday. but from what i have researched on this matter gm needs to issue a recall and address this matter as it could cause be the making of some serious law suits. *tr

July 2013 had hub bearings replaced in order for car to pass inspection. issue with "service traction control" had never occurred the prior winters -- car slows down, engine slows down -- this just started happening after the hub bearings were replaced. on march 23, 2014, after paying tolls on the turnpike, the "service traction control" warning again appeared (no snow, nothing to trigger the warning) and then my car stopped, no power...the steering locked...fortunately i was going slow enough and somehow made it to the breakdown lane. car had absolutely no power...completely dead. waited about 1/2 hour and was able to restart. called gm 3/25 who contacted the dealer for an appointment for me. dealer never called me (now 4/7/14). i have placed another call to gm. the vehicle should not completely shut down. asked gm if there was a recall and was told no. i hope others who experience this will file complaints so that they will recall. had i been in a different lane, i may have had someone crash into me at 65 mph and i probably would not be alive. this needs to be recalled. too dangerous. *tr

As i was driving down the road my car lost speed drop from 35 mph to 20 mph, the check engine light came on and the triangle with the car and skid marks then it kept flashing the service stabilitrak control, engine power reduced, and service traction control and it started to jerk and jump. i have been having major issues out of this car first it was the right hub (eating tires), then the left hub (eating more tires), then the transmission and gear shift completely gone (replaced everything) now this plus the front tires are still getting ate up. this is an ongoing problem with this chevy impala. i am so ready to get a honda. as i see there are other owners that are having similar problems. why isn't it a recall on these problems? nobody likes too loose their money for something that should have been taken care of by gm in the first place. what will gm do if all customers protest about these issues that should be recalled on whether its for the public, private, or government sector? *tr
While i was driving the service stability pack and traction control light came on and immediately after the reduced engine power came on. the car then jerked, and shut off while i was still driving, and wouldn't start again until approximately 30 minutes later. there were no wet nor road hazard conditions that would have caused this to happen. furthermore, i was driving at 60mph when this occurred in moderate traffic and almost got rear ended. this is a very unsafe issue, and i was told that the gas pedal needs to be replaced. since then my vehicle has done this several times. this issues needs to be recalled because a lot of individuals have complained about having the same issues with the impala. what is it going to take an injury or fatality for a recall on these vehicles. moreover, any vehicle that shuts off while driving at any speed because of an issues with throttle body/gas pedal needs to be recalled because this is a major safety issue. *js
I was driving on i70 going 70 mph and out of nowhere my engine light comes on and 3 messages start appearing on the dash. 1) service stabiltrac, 2) service traction control, 3( engine power reducing. my car a 2011 chevy impala slows down to about 50. i get it going back to 60 but not very easily. i keep going and merge onto 465 (indianapolis indiana area). i come into slower traffic where i need to stop. i apply my breaks and the pedal will not engage. almost hit a car. also when i slowed down the car started shaking bad. i continue a little farther in slow traffic and had to stop again, same thing with the breaks. so i pulled over and shut off my car on the side of i465. my daughter had looked up the error messages on the internet and there seem to be a lot on there with the same problem. they all said the same thing, after shutting the car off and restarting it it was fine. i made it home and everything seemed fine for a couple of weeks and it happened a few more times so far. once at a stop sign and the same day as i was backing out of parking space at work. once again that same week i was driving in town and took off from a red light and it happened again. from a complete stop the car started shaking and the error messages and engine light come on and it would not accelerate. i would have thought nothing about it except to get it fixed, but after reading so much on the internet about the same problem there has to be an issue and needs to be recalled. gm needs to own up to this problem before people get injured or worse die from this issue. *tr

2011 chevrolet impala. consumer writes in regards to vehicle engine problems. *smd the consumer stated on several occasions, the vehicle stalled without no warning. when the engine power reduced, a light appeared and the consumer was unable to accelerate. the consumer stated he waited several minutes, before trying to re-start the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, for an inspection, but they were unable to duplicate the problem. however. a couple of weeks later, the engine service light and engine power reduced light illuminated again. *jb

I started my car after a cold night and immediately got a "service stabilitrak", "engine power reduced", and "service trance ion control" messages. the car had an extremely rough idle and then would not accelerate to more than 25 mph. i returned home and made an appointment at the dealership. later, i was ready to take the car into the dealer and it started fine with no error messages or check engine light. i called the dealer and they said it must have been a computer error that fixed itself. well, it's a week later now and i am having the issues again except restarting the engine does not fix it anymore. this is a serious issue and needs to be resolved by gm and not cost the many people experiencing this issue hundreds of dollars to fix! *tr
While driving down the road service traction control reduce engine power and stability control light came on. car engine lost power and i thought it was going to blow up it made the whole car shake. you shut it off for a few and restart it and its like nothing ever happened. not to happy about this i have not had the car a year. guess a person needs to die from this matter before there is a recall on this what a joke. and the worst is chevy will not cover any of this even if the car is under a warranty. *tr
This is the second time this has happened. less than a year ago, we received a service stabilitrac/service traction control/engine at reduced power message and speed dropped from 40 mph to 5 mph. we brought it to the chevrolet dealer and a traction position control sensor was replaced. today, on 11/24/13, we were driving 15 mph in a parking lot and received the same message resulting in the same problem. this is a safety issue due to the fact that the vehicle essentially stalls out with little to no power and nearly caused a collision at an intersection. when will nhtsa force gm to recall and fix this issue? this is extremely dangerous. *tr

When the accelerator pedal is released, the car does not slow down. dealer says car is ok. this happens at any speed and makes it difficult to slow down or stop. the car will run along at about 20 miles per hour from a stopped position without touching accelerator. very difficult to drive on ice or snow.
On my way to work: on highway all lights came on service traction control, service stabilitrak and engine power is reduced, and my check engine light came on as well. *tr
We own both a 2011 and a 2013 chevy impala. both vehicles grind and hesitate. they both act this way while taking off from a light, backing out of the driveway and then putting it in drive and any other time it feels necessary to do so. except while being checked by the mechanic. we owned a 2007 impala that did the same thing. our remedy, push the traction control button to the "off" position. stopped making the noise and no longer hesitates after putting it in drive. of course, we have to do this each and every time we get in the car. no more buying chevy's for us.
Code p211222 and code c0242 car would not go over 5 mph. engine light was on. called onstar. this is the third time this has happened in 15 months. fixed twice. spoke with general motors safety division and [xxx] at general motors several times. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
While driving at 60 mph, messages were flashing: service stabilitrac soon, reduced power to engine, check traction control. car decelerated to 30 mph on the highway, hard to steer. i pulled off the road, turned it off and waited. several minutes later it restarted and i was able to drive it home. the engine light and the traction control light still come on. it shifts hard (and it's an automatic transmission). in addition, cruise control will not work during this condition. *tr
While leaving from work i made a left turn onto a busy highway and my service traction control light, reduce engine power, and check engine light came on. pulled over and car was wanting to turn off. turned off car and service traction control light goes off but check engine stays on. came home googled what could be the cause and see that many impalas owners are having the same trouble...i see a lawsuit happening if gm does not recall this! *tr
I was driving on the highway at 60 mph when my car began to slow down until it came to a stop. i could do nothing but sit there i did not have enough time to make it to the emergency lane. i could have been killed! the car gave no warning. i received several messages on the dash that stated disabled starter, service throttle, and the check oil light was on. over the two years that i have had this vehicle i have had to have the transmission replaced and one year later another potential costly repair. something really needs to be done with the 2011 chevy impala's, there is a serious safety issue going on that has not been look at by chevy. *tr
Pulled into 35 mile per hour traffic and lost engine power. warning lights and message for stabiltrac, service traction control and reduced engine power came on. experienced reduced engine power with traffic approaching from behind. this happened with 22,000 miles in 7/2013. the engine control module and stabilizer shaft link were replaced. this happened again 2/2014 with 26,000 miles. the throttle body cover and sensor kit were replaced. just today, 7/23/2014, it happened again with 30,000 miles. each time it has happened pulling into 35 mile per hour traffic and experienced reduced power. *tr
When driving, noticed on the freeway, it wasn't smooth at times. the transmission's shifting was pretty rough. no indication of any issues popped up on dashboard. when arriving at a freeway ramp, it felt like i was hydroplaning, but on gravel. then, noticed when pressing the accelerator, was not going anywhere, but felt like i was in neutral. was able to pull over and take a look... transmission fluid was fine... nothing popped up on the dashboard. nothing! the indicators for tires, oil, etc were showing info, but nothing to indicate it had died or if there were any engine issues. had brought it to the dealership where i had bought the car 11 months ago. the mechanics were saying that they have never seen such an huge transmission failure before. they would have to replace the whole thing. *tr
For several weeks, the indicator on my vehicle will alert me "service traction control; reducing engine power". at first i thought this was just a glitch, until it kept happening over and over and over again. there are days when the indicator will go off and remain off for a week or two, but then it will all of a sudden come back on and remain on for a week or so. i get my vehicle serviced regularly. i have contacted gm dealership after dealership, and they have all told me there is nothing they can do. finally, i asked for the corporate office number [xxx]. i called gm's corporate office (reference#: [xxx]) and was told that my powertrain warranty is still good but my bumpertobumper warranty has expired due to the mileage. i advised the representative ([xxx]) that i had googled this information to find out what was going on and this appears to be a known issue with chevy implala's, and i asked why hasn't gm put out a recall on this issue. she then tells me that i need to pay and get a diagnostic check to determine the actual issue. my question to her is "why should i or any customer have to pay for something that is a reported known issue?" there representative continued to apologize and tell me there was nothing that gm could do because this was not a known issue. i referenced there representative to research for herself [xxx] and she continued to tell me there was nothing they could do. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Driving 30 mph in a small town. a "binging" noise sounds 3 times and the traction control warning light as well as the check engine light came on. vehicle messaging system stated that to "service stabilitrak," "service traction control," and "engine power reduced. the acceleration was noticeably reduced as well as a significant difference in maintaining speed. merging onto a highway the cruise control would not kick in when setting speed which made it difficult to manage a 65 mph speed limit. *tr
The service stabilitrak light comes on and engine power is reduced. it happened this morning while taking my kids to school...very scary thing when kids are in the car because it just starts losing power & you really cannot drive it like this.. *tr
Had the service light and service stabitrak and reduced power come on. seems to happen a lot during the winter. i have had the gas pedal replaced seemed to help for a week until snowed again but was due to nice weather i have also had to take off throttle body and cleaned with throttle body cleaner. seemed to do the trick until it snowed again. it is very dangerous when this happens and almost caused a crash. the problem seems to be with the senor but works fine when not wet out or snowing. after looking online seems to be a very common problem with chevy with them not doing a thing other then wanting to charge me 600 bucks to replace throttle body. seems like chevy never wanted to fix this issue due to the fact of alot of other models of chevy have the same problem going back atleast 4-5 years. *tr
