We brought vehicle in for recall for wiring harness repair back in august because airbag light was on. dealership wrapped the wires. 3 weeks later airbag light was on again. brought back to dealership and they told us wires were damaged and wiring connector need to be replaced which was not part of recall. paid $329. when i read recall online, it clearly states the wires should be inspected before applying the tape and if not wiring should be replaced for no charge. i filed complaint with gm and they contacted dealership who still says wires are not part of recall. advised word for word of recall and no have to go to dealership with paperwork. my child is driving this car and was told by the dealership this is not a safety issue and we could have left it as is. really?

Chev recall #16v507000 reported a problem with the air bag sensor on the passenger seat side. i reported that i had the recall notice but that i also had the same problem with the air bag but on the driver side. when the air bag light came on, i could get it to turn off by moving the driver's seat back and forth and/or up and down. this seems to be the same type of problem reported in the recall for the passenger seat. at the dealership, the car computer verified the driver side air bag problem. when i took the care in for the recall, they checked the passenger seat wiring under warranty but charged me $130.12 to get the driver's seat wiring fixed. they said the recall was only for the passenger seat. seems gm doesn't care if the driver gets killed or injured.

About a week ago, my :service air bag" light came on while i was driving on a highway. i got home and looked at the latest recall notice sent via mail to us and saw the ignition recall could cause a problem with the airbags if not repaired so i made an appointment with a local dealer. once there i was told that there was another recall and they would fix both. i asked about the light but was blown off. the car was repaired and i left with the light off. the next day the light came on but when i shut off the car it would go away. this has kept happening but since yesterday it is constant. i called the dealer and gm and both say they issues are not related. but there are a lot of people on line with the same issue. the second recall was for a passenger seat sensor that could cause damage to the seat belt pretensions and loss of air bags! gm is very blaise about their customers safety. this is another issue in a long list of problems i have had with the impala. two out of four door locks do not work unless you manually open them, one of my seat warmers does not function, etc... this is a poorly made vehicle and the issues are safety in nature.

I took my car to auto mall in brattleboro vt for the recall 36110 passenger seat occupant sensing. they had it all day said they fixed it but the airbag light is on and it still doesn't sense anyone in the passenger side seat. they also gave me a list of 9 codes that my car now has but didn't back in june 3 of which i know about tire and dead battery in my remote and my actuator door, the rest all have to do with electric issues. i think stemming from the original recall. i wouldn't pay 90.00 to have it coded again so i looked up the codes myself and they are all loop open circuit and one is second row seat belt pretensioner deployment control. seems to me that there is more than wrapping the wires is going to fix, i think it all has to do with the recall but they refuse to do anything. i don't even know what they did wrap or change the housing?? my codes are as follows b0223 b3060 b3031 b1325/3 b0074 c0755 boo1b/4 b0021/04. help please all i want iis to be able to get my car inspected. as i said i had no codes until this started when the same dealer changed my pps module back a few months ago which was a recall too. when my abs light came on and traction control and loss of power. after auto mall fixed that the airbag light came on. they had the nerve to ask if i had mice living in my car...

Received a safety recall for above car for the airbag. the recall is #36110. it states that dic alerts may intermittently turn on and off. the dashboard light on my car has been doing exactly that. i brought it to curry chevrolet in white plains, ny. the dealer told me that the airbag recall has nothing to do with the airbag warning sign that won't turn off and wanted to charge me $700 to fix it. the car only has $31,000 miles on it. i am 80 years old and do not have the resources to fix this problem as i am on a fixed income. i feel the airbag recall/and light problem are definitely related. i am 80 years old and do not have the resources to fix this problem as i am on a fixed income. i feel the airbag recall/and light problem are definitely related and that i am being taken advantage of. i look forward to your assistance. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

A fix airbag warning comes up on the dashboard display. it is inconsistent- as it will come on when starting the car, but most often while driving. it will stay on for 1 minute to maybe 5 minutes, then goes off. it started about 2 weeks ago and has come on approx 5 times in about 30 different uses of the car.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2009 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the service air bag warning indicator illuminated. the contact later received notification of an unknown manufacturer recall for the air bags. the dealer repaired the vehicle; however, days later, the air bag warning indicator illuminated again. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer twice, but they could not replicate the failure. the vehicle was taken back again with the service air bag warning indicator still lit. the dealer indicated that the wire harness was faulty and needed to be replaced under the front passenger side seat. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was not available.

Service air bag sensor intermittently illuminates and remains on while driving, as does the air bag warning symbol. unsure if air bag will inflate in a crash if light is on during a crash. considerable safety concern for myself and family which are currently only ride in rear of vehicle.

Service air bag warning light keeps intermittently coming on during operation of vehicle. the car has been serviced twice for this problem. underseat harness connections were tightened, but that has not corrected the problem. problem began 4 months ago. warning light will clear once engine shuts off. a complaint has been filed with gm. at this time, gm is unable to tell me if the air bag would function as designed or even deploy at all in the event of an accident.

For the last year or so i have dealt with several issues that started happening all of a sudden and all at once. for starters, my air bag indicator come on and off when i drive at any speed. an independent mechanic could not diagnose it and the dealership attempted to diagnose it and all he said was i needed to replace my air bags which would have cost roughly $3400.00. in addition to that, my abs indicator began going on and off and has caused my car to feel as if it was on a hydroplane mode. when it turns on it occasionally makes my car jerk on the road. i went to an auto supply store for diagnosis and was told there was no reading so nothing was wrong, dealership said the same. the light shut off and it was like deja vu all over again. also, i have had to replace the door actuators at least one to two times a year because they continue to break. finally, my new batteries the last few of years have been completely drained for no apparent reason and i had to replace it several times due to damaged batteries even though i replace it with brand new car batteries.

Takata recall - not sure if this is the type in my car but the air bag on the passenger side has failed. i constantly have a service air bag light that comes on and off. i have researched and this seems to have happened in several of this year and model, even some recalls but not yet to my vin

While driving home from work my car started jerking the esc came on engine light traction control system pulled over almost got hit by two other cars . also the airbag lights been on the sensors have all been replaced and new front airbags.

Service air bag light comes on. intermittent some times, then stays on for weeks. 63,000 miles.

Airbag service message and airbag light goes on and off. paid 269.36 4/22/2016 so it would pass state inspection. light stayed off for about two months, now it is giving us the same problem. returned to dealer, said cost to repair with new harness in the drivers seat would be around 250.00 more. the general has a huge problem here.

There has been an consent issue occurring with my vehicle's airbag light coming on. every time i take it to the dealership i pay $100 for a diagnostic test for them to tell me they are unsure of the issue, but they reset the system for the light to turn off. 4 to 6 months goes by and the light comes on "again". as of right now i do not feel safe that my vehicle will protect me down the highway and i would like and investigation to be opened. thank you for your time and concern. have a great day. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 chevrolet impala. when the passenger seat was moved, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was remedied per nhtsa campaign number: 16v507000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 114,000.

Air bag light appears sometimes and then goes away. have been told by mechanic that it may be a wiring problem in he steering wheel. the warning light comes and goes. no one thing that makes it come on. could be driving vehicle and it will come on. sometimes it will come on at start up. then it will go away for a week or two. sometimes it will stay on for a week or two. *tr

Service airbags displayed on dash. will come in and go off randomly. searching internet i found this link to report the issue. seems as if this is a defect that should have a recall issued, its a safety issue!

October 2015, while driving display came up with message "service air bag" with icon also showing on display. checking into this message i found that this is a serious problem and that i cannot depend on having air bag protection if in an accident. checking various sources online, found hundreds of complaints and that when many serious accidents occured, no air bags deployed . called my gm dealer and was told that problem could be caused by several different problems and could mean installing new air bags at a cost of $1200.00. with all the current recalls for the takade air bags, why are these air bag defects on the chevolet impala's not being recalled. they present a real danger to passengers in these cars. in some of the complaints online, even after the cars were serviced by the dealers, the problems reoccured. i am an 81 year old female with out the resources to pay several hundred dollars to, maybe, have the problem fixed and i am sure many other owners of the impala's are in the same circumstance. i feel this is a serious safety issure and should be considered as such.

Air bag light comes on repeatedly.

Service air bag came up on dash display. checked for code and found none. restarted car and light still on. worried about air bag if there was an accident. found many others online with the same problem. is there a recall ?

The airbags light go on and off intermittently. this has been happening for over a year. we've had it looked at and they never can figure it out. is there a recall????

I took the car to hank graff chevrolet in davison, mi for warranty work and the service airbag soon light was on. they replaced seatbelt tensioner on the passenger seat and the light remained off for a month. now the light is on again and the car is out of warranty. i believe that gm should stand behind these safety mechanisms regardless of any warranty. i was told that in the event of a crash the airbags would not deploy if the warning light is on, yet i absolutely refuse to pay for a problem with a safety device intended to last the lifetime of the car. gm cannot ignore faulty safety equipment like they ignored the faulty ignition switches.

My service air bag light came on in my 2009 impala, and i took vehice to my dealer. the dealer said that the left front seat side air bag needed to be replaced. i am concerned why this air bag would need full replacement all of a sudden.

Service airbag light had been coming on intermittently for a few months noticed it happened when it was cold and or when making left turns until it came on indefinitely recall after recall i hoped should resolve every time they say it has nothing to do with recall at time of service/recall correction.

When i start the car, i got a service air bag message. it stayed on for about 5 minutes. this has been an intermittent issue.

Airbag issue since i purchased this vehicle from the gsa in february 2015. picked up the vehicle in brownsville texas and the airbag light was on. digital indicator requested that the airbag system be serviced. never had the system checked until today 8/29/2015 by my mechanic. found that there are melted wires under the passenger seat.affecting the airbag system operability.

The "service air bag" light will come on while driving. it will then go out after a few minutes. it has done this repeatedly.

When turning the car on the "service air bag" light stayed illuminated then it would randomly turn off while driving then turn back on. the following day the "service air bag" light just stays on at all times now. i feel that this is a huge safety issue and upon searching online and some online forums this seems to be a common issue with chevy impalas from 2006-2013. updated 9/15/15 *ln updated 12/13/2017*cn ...video available

Air bag light randomly coming on, now more frequently. scan of system shows air bag pretensioner issue.

Car was parked and not running but was in hot sun for a few hours. when i came back to car i started it up and passenger side front air bag sign was on. this happened on july 4th of 2015. occasionally the airbag light will go off for a few minutes but then will come right back on.

At start up, the service air bag came on dash and the air bag seat belt light came on. and now it stays on. i see this seems to be a regular problem with the impala.. if that many people are having that problem it seems to me to be a faulty something and a safety issue.

Service air bag light came on periodically, then stayed on. went to jeff wyler dealership(shelbyville, ky). was told there was corrosion in cable. repaired a $98.00 diagnostic fee plus parts. was first given option of not repairing, as they forgot to tell me about the diagnostic fee, or repair at cost of fee. was repaired on june 18, 2015. on 7/12/15, light came back on. is not staying on long enough for me to take to the nearest dealership in eminence, ky. jeff wyler closed its local dealership. called gm yesterday. no recalls for my vin #. i am concerned.
