The car has erratic shifting. it seems as if the gears get stuck before they release especially when slowing down then taking off, like if you do a rolling stop or slow down at a traffic light but don't stop fully before accelerating again. it does not do it everytime you drive though. there is also a clicking coming from behind the dash. the actuator for air has gone bad.

I was deriving down a steep grade on the gatlinburg bypass toward pigeon forge, tn in second gear for engine breaking. i first noticed the car getting warmer and i checked the dual climate control by feel to make sure my rider had not increased the temperature. then i noticed the steering was harder on slight curves; then i noticed the tachometer going to zero and sone other gauges decreasing; then i had to slow for a charper curve where i had no power brake assist and no powering steering assist. i managed to bring the vehicle to a safe stop where i tried to restart the engine. the vehicle restarted after a short cranking but acted if it was starving for fuel. once restarted the vehicle ran satisfactory, if i had been a weak person or had panicked this incident would probably have resulted in a crash. the ignition switch recall had recently been accomplished. the fuel level was 1/2 tank. as an electrical engineer this appeared to be an electrical problem where the engine power was cut off shutting down the fuel pump, instrument cluster, ignition, and electric steering assist.

I have gotten in touch with gm and chevrolet customer service and my local dealership who have refused to correctly diagnose my issue. i have been charged 99$ per visit to jones chevrolet and still have the service air bag light on my vehicle. it stays on all the time and intermittently goes away once in a blue moon. it started off with the light just turning on when i hit a bump or a rough road but now even on the highway it comes on. gm customer service told me that an air bag issues is the customers responsibility after my warranty is up however the air bag has never deployed or the car has never gotten into an accident so i am at a loss as to why it is my responsibility for the repair of such an integral safety part of the vehicle which should last and function without issues for at least a little while if not for a long time after the initial warranty is up. i have now spend in the upwards of $800 out of pocket to try and get this issue resolved but gm has not been cooperative at all. i had to leave 5 voicemails to an advisor to call me back and she and her supervisor rudely told me that they have given me a resolution and if god forbid i got in an accident and the air bag needed to deploy but didn't do so it would be on me and gm wont take responsibility. i am very concerned for my safety and the safety of my passengers. i have transcripts of service and recorded call from them to prove this. please assist.

The first time the loud noise happen was back in 12/2014. 02/08/2015 the noise was so loud that i pull off the road. it seems to be coming from behind the dash or radio? i call gm and was advised that there is not and has not been a recall form this although there has been several complaints. per gm the cost of repairs is on the car owner. *tr
On 12/11 the key would not disengage from ignition although gear shift is in park. on 12/12 the car was able to start with key still stuck. i took the car to the dealer and when the technician went to get basic information to start the service process the gear shift was stuck in the park position. dealer was unable to disengage shift and key. general motors escalated representative 800-222-1020 refused to service the vehicle at their expense for faulty manufactured parts. after researching this issue online this is a common gm chevrolet impala problem for which gm should accept full responsibility by performing a voluntary recall. *tr
After receiving a recall notice followed by an advisement the repair part(s) were in i took my vehicle to the dealer with the belief that the ignition switch was going to be repaired or replaced. airport chevrolet-medford, oregon. all that was done was the size of the key ring hole on the keys were reduced. was this an acceptable fix for the ignition switch problem, and if so, why was that not mentioned on any of the tv news coverage like ignition switch replacement was? thank you.
At 55 mph, a warning message stating service traction control-engine power reduced appeared. while driving downhill or on level ground, i had sufficient power to continue driving. when headed uphill it was extremely difficult to get the car to shift into a lower gear. when it finally did shift, it shifted hard and really jerked the car. a few miles down the road, i rounded a corner and began to pick up some momentum. without warning, the engine stopped and another warning light stating starting disabled-service throttle appeared. i had enough momentum to move off to the side of the road. i tried to start the car several times. the engine did not crank and the message continued to flash. i completely turned the key off and sat for a few minutes. i was about to call for a tow truck when i tried again. the engine started and i was able to continue home with no issues. a few days later, the first message i mentioned appeared (service traction control-engine power reduced). i was still at work, so i found a parking space and turned the engine off immediately. a few minutes later, i restarted the engine and drove away. i guess i'm just lucky this didn't happen on the turnpike or interstate. gm has to know about this. i guess they don't pay attention to near-misses. *tr
