I was exiting off of a 55-mph highway, onto a long curved 180-degree exit ramp, when half-way through the turn, the power steering cut off completely, without any prior warning. i was able to complete the turn, using much increased arm strength. i pulled over and re-seated a bunch of loose fuses and relays in the electrical box located under the hood. the power steering did not come back on. but after pushing the fuses and relays firmly down a second time, the power steering came back on, and has not failed since. i am very concerned that had my elderly mother or my young daughter been driving this car when the failure occurred, that an accident due to loss of control might have been a distinct possibility. *tr

I was turning my car around, and as i shifted from reverse to 1st gear, the power steering went out. that was odd. turned car off and back on, power steering returned. since then the power steering has continued to go out. at this point, power steering goes out every single time i drive my car. mileage and speed do not matter. how can this not be a recall? i cannot afford to get it fixed or to get a new car. what do i do? will this get worse? are other things going to go wrong now? i have to go to work and i have to take my son to day care. how safe is it to drive this car? *js

This is in regard to recall # 14v-047. about 3 months after i bought this car, i lost battery power. over the next 6 monthe or so i lost the battery 3 more times the last time at a gas station. i got a start from aaa emergency serv- ice who checked th e attery and said it wold not charge. so, i had to buy a new battery, since it is not a standard battery i had to look for a battery in several local cities, it was after hours. the following week my power steering died. a local mechanic repaired it , a relay or fuse problem this happened a second time and now i really got worried. i got the recall notice from chevrolet detroit and called princeton, nj. chevrolet. i was told a apart had to be ordered and would take a few weeks. two weeks later, i called pinceton chevrolet , no part ,yet. finally, today i called them a third time and spoke to jack their warranty mgr. no part yet. then i called chev detroit and spoke to"tisa ?". she mollified me by telling me i could get a loner until my car was repaired. i tried to call princeton chev again but the line was busy for over an hour.i feel like i am getting the old run around.they expect me to give up..i won't and i'll make phone calls untill i get satisfaction.. *tr

I would like to file a complaint about my 2007 chevrolet hhr. the power steering is not working anymore and this is very unsafe for me to drive. i understand that there are 2009 and 2010 gm vehicles that have been recalled for this same reason, but my car has not. i found this on the gm website. http://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/news.detail.html/content/pages/news/us/en/2014/mar/0331-power-steering.html.gm recalls older model vehicles to fix power steering. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet hhr. the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, an unknown warning indicator illuminated with the sound of a chime and there was an immediate loss of power steering. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. upon restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. the vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 146,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet hhr. the contact stated that the power steering light illuminated while she drove approximately 30-35 mph. the contact had to turn the steering wheel with force. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. the manufacturer advised the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 14v153000 (steering). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 48,000.

The recall i have had so far was with the ignition switch and that took the dealership over one month to repair. after my car was repaired and apparently rekeyed i am locked out of my car, the key will not unlock my car door. i called the gm roadside assistance, with hopes of assistance. they inform me they will be a $59.95 fee to unlock my car and they accept all major credit cards. i explained to them this was not my error it as a result of the ignition recall they stood firm of their fee and suggested i call the local authorities. when i contacted gm about the recall i had shared with them i was having power steering issues. while i am driving my car my power steering goes out and it becomes hard to steer as well the is a display on the dashboard "power steering". on several occasions on the street, freeway and while turning into a parking space. i then became aware of a recall on hhr power steering, however they say it not with my vehicle.later i read an article stating that jeff boyer was offering a lifetime warranty on the vehicles that have not been recalled.gm also said 309,160 non-turbocharged chevrolet hhrs from the 2006-2008 model years model year that are not subject to these recalls will be given lifetime warranties for replacement of the electronic power steering motor. so then when i call the 800 number to find out how i may have this power steering issue addressed with my district advisor he shares with me there has been no statement made that he is aware of i feel unsafe driving in this vehicle and with the round around and non assistance i am getting from gm i am not sure i ever will. The power steering quit working. have had this problem intermittently ever since. now happening more often this month (august 2015). need recall as i know lots of hhr owners are having same problem.

Vehicle was sitting while running my husbands knee bumped the key fob and the ignition switched to off. i checked and found there is very little resistance to the key turning off. *tr

Power steering goes out intermittently. this is the same symptom as the recall on the 2009-2010 hhr but the 2007 hhr was not included in the recall. *tr

the car lost the power steering ability and was very hard to steer. i pulled the vehicle over. stopped and restarted and began to drive ok. the car seems to be randomly losing the power steering ability. *js

I have been experiencing problems with this vehicle every since i got it. now with me reading these recalls come to find out this car is not safe at all. when i get to 60mph my car shakes. i thought it was the brakes but i have brand new brake put on. it still shakes when trying to ride on the highway. is anyone else having these issues? *tr

Non of what you've listed above, apply.. i'm upset about how long this process has taken.. i understand that this has been held back since 2007 and gm was aware of their own wrong doing! but i called to set up an appointment locally and they tell me that the parts are still on order.. i cant afford a rental! now people including myself are operating on fear.. my airbag light blinks off and on from time to time. the key at times want turn in the ignition!! i like this car, but no longer., why doesn't gm offer loaner cars to us all until they fix the issue that they caused... scared of dyeing in raleigh, nc. *tr

I have a 2007 chevy hhr. i've had the fuel pump replaced. but not many others. until now there is a chime and the power steering indicator on the dash comes on and the power steering assist goes off. at first it was once in awhile. now i can drive 30 seconds to 10 min and the power assist goes out. i restart and it comes back for a moment or so. all the way to work no power steering assist. on the way home it worked fine. i can't find any pattern to it. key in the ignition only as stated in the recall notice i received about the power steering going out. everything on the key chain it seems to work more often than not. i have contacted a chevy dealership and chevy. but since my vin is not on the power steering recall i will have to pay for it out of pocket. which i do not have the money after i did my taxes. this is obviously an issue and needs to be fixed. i found a notice on the gm website that listed the 2006-2007 hhr to have lifetime warranty on the power steering. but since there is no recall on it i am out of luck. i sent the article to the chevy dealership and they won't do anything because the vin isn't listed. as far as i am concerned this should be covered. far too many people have had this issue fo it not to be covered to some extent. *tt

The power steering warning flashes in the dash, the steering wheel gets very hard. if you turn the car off, it will work fine again. sometimes it does it often, some days nothing happens. i don't understand if so many people is having the same issue with the power steering why it has not been recalled. *tr

While driving on a wet road at 30 to 35 miles per hour. the car shuts off when i topped a small hill and i lost all power. no place to pull off the road. i placed the car in park and turn the key to off and restarted. the engine light came on and the message displayed was engine power reduction. i drove 20 to 25 miles per hour to my destination the car would only go 30 miles per hour and the car shifted roughly and jumped. a nice guy there, turned the key to the on position 3 times before the engine light would go off. called dealership and they said bring it in, i already had the recall letter and ask him if it could be related to the recall (as i am on a fixed income) he said no and it would cost 150.00 i have not had any other episodes and i hope i don't it was very scary. glad i was going slow and not a busy road. i had previously removed the key fob and was only using my ignition key as per the recall letter instruction. waiting for the next letter for the recall and hope the fix prevents it from happening again. *tr

3 days ago my powersteering kept going out .unsafe almost hit somebody..and now today my car smells like gas when i start it ..fire ..fire ..fire..please recall these. *tr

When driving down the road my chevy hhr will lose all power steering making it unsafe to drive. the problem goes away after i turn off my hhr and restart it. it is extremely dangerous for myself and the other motorist driving on the road. it started to happen about a week ago and goes out a couple times a day. there needs to be a safety recall on this problem before more people die. *tr

My eps would kick off randomly while driving causing the steering to become much harder. it would begin to work again once my hhr was turned off and turned back on. *tr

I was driving my car and my steering wheel got very hard to steer. i heard a ding and looked down to see power steering. i think gm should recall these, if it is the same issue as it was in the saturn. i have to turn my car off at every stop sign because my power steering goes out about 4 or 5 times a day, this is dangerous and i can't afford to get fixed. i live paycheck to pay check and i'm very upset that chevy put a product out on the market with defects like this. makes me question about my next purchase. very unhappy customer. *tr

Driving getting onto on ramp to interstate. it is very difficult to turn with no power steering around the turn. and of course there was two more ramps to go around. turned off the car to get gas and the power steering came back and the power steering light went off. have been reading the other posts and i guess i'm not alone. i just hope that this is covered under a recall so it can be fixed right. *tr

At various speeds and after various amounts of time the power steering indicator will come on and the power steering wheel fail.. this can usually be relieved by turning car off and back on.. this is happening almost daily. *tr

Electric power steering failed, steering wheel became hard to turn, requiring significantly added muscular strength to maintain directional stability and to turn and maneuver the vehicle in traffic. power steering function restored and normal operation restored by stopping the vehicle, turning off the motor, and electrical system, then restarting the motor. this happened several times on the trip home, distance less than 3 miles. restored power steering failed again within 30 to 120 seconds of each restart. outside air temperature was below freezing, vehicle operated on paved highway in good condition. *tr

The power steering gets hard to turn and there is a clicking noise once. *tr

The powersteering will go out as i am driving. very unsafe!! warning will come on after the power steering goes out. if i shut the car off i will get the power steering back temporarily, but then it goes back out again. i see i am not the only one on here with the same complaint. *tr

I just had my recall for the ignition switch completed on my hhr as of 6/26/14. when i picked up my car from the dealership, i didn't even make it out of the dealership parking lot and my power steering was out. i was told by the gentleman that the power steering motor is not a recall, and i can either continue to drive it with no power steering 99% of the time, or i can pay to have it fixed. it may "potentially" be another recall in the future, but is not confirmed yet. i have read numerous complaints regarding this issue, and gm is aware enough to recall this power steering issue a few years back in canada, but not here in the us. i have contacted customer care. their response was the same. i would need to pay out of pocket. somebody needs to address this issue. this is huge. you can't even drive 5 ft and it is out. i surely hope i am not involved in an accident as i have a 9 yr old son. i am disappointed that gm is failing to recognize this issue. i have read so many complaints about it that it is sickening and sad that their refusal and lack of empathy for these owners disgusts me. *tr

I was driving about 45 mph and the power steering just went out. the light sounded and power steering light came up on the dash. the wheel was very hard to turn. when i stopped and turned the car off and back on again, it started working again. i searched online what the problem was and found that this is happening a lot on hhr models. i saw where many of the chevy models have been recalled for this same reason and even the hhr in canada but not in the usa. i find this very dangerous. please recall the 2007 hhr for this problem. i fear driving my car now. *tr

Driving on highway, 70mph, power steering simply went off. pulled off onto another road, stopped at a nearby chevy dealership, turned car off to ask for service, when car was pulled in to be looked at, power steering worked again. *tr

My car has the same sterring column as in the colbolt i once owned. they recalled many makes of the hhr for new columns. but not the 2007 or 2008. i have replaced the wiper motor once before and aftrer 3 years have to replace again. any time the temperture gets above 70 degree, the power sterring goes out. also when the ignition switch was recalled and exchanged, the dealership refused to reset the keyless entry key rings, so cannt use my auto starter, unlock or oped my doors, especially the hatch back. there is no way to open that door, no handle, no inner button, no pull to open it.

During driving at any speed the power steering goes out. it happens at any speed. once car is pulled over into parking lot shut off then restarted it works fine for 12 seconds to several minutes. it will go a couple of days without problem then it will have the problem for several days. on 4/23/14 it went out on a s turn almost causing a wreck. i had a friend with me at the time. gm has bulletin 14119 stating it will replace power steering for life of vehicle but dealership states it is not recalled and will do nothing. i have video of it doing exactly what the recall for the 2009 and 2010 model. does one of my children or family members have to die from this problem before gm will fix it? the internet is full of the same problem from plenty of owners of the 2007 hhr. *tr

The steering wheel is hard to move. *tr

While driving and turning cuts out and is very hard to turn i almost had an accident please do something about this problem with this type of cars. *tr
