Problems with 2008 Chevrolet Equinox AIR BAGS

The sensor for the passenger air bag is fault and has turned off the passenger air bag many times with my husband in the seat next to me with the vehicle in motion on city streets, highways, and interstates. i fear it will turn off and we will get into an accident putting his life in unnecessary danger. this has been a well reported incident to the manufacturer by many individuals and the 2007 model had a recall in place. there is no reason the 2008 model should not also have that recall.

My defrost doesn't work nor does my heat and every time i put gas in the truck it doesn't want to start up right away. it's dangerous to drive and i can't see out my windows i live in wisconsin. i've had my bend door and actuator fixed twice even had all my fluids drained and refilled. it doesn't heat up the truck at all even without defrost on i still get cold air no matter the setting and service air bag has been popping up since ive purchased the vehicle

I bought this car used from someone who let me know of this issue and could not get it fixed. this issue is present no matter if the car is stationary or in motion. there is a "service air bag" warning as well as the airbag notification light. the passenger seat airbag light on the center console is always set to off no matter if someone is sitting in the passenger seat or not. i have read several complaints of this issue whether the people bought the car when it was new or used. it is an ongoing issue and it costs $800-$1000 for gm to fix it which is ludicrous because it is a safety hazard faulty equipment that they installed. this was the same issue in the 2007 chevrolet equinox and that was recalled however gm will not recall the 2008????

my vehicle should have two recalls; first the airbags. when my passenger is sitting in the seat the check engine light will come on telling me to check my airbag and the airbag light is off. i'm not sure if it will deploy if i get in an accident or if it will on its own one day hurting my passenger. second, my vehicle smells like gasoline. it smells worse when i fill the tank up and its doesn't start right away. i am driving my vehicle since this is the only vehicle i have. i have seen online were the 2007 equinox had a recall for the airbag and gas tank. please help me.

I have put 3 fuel pumps plus it will have to have installed again and will have to shell out 725.00 this time because the warranty has expired and if gm don`t replace i may file the lemon law and my airbag in the steering wheel shows it is not working sometimes.

Air bag indicator on/off on dash works part of the time when right seat is occupied so i can only assume that the right air bag is not activated when the light is showing off. this is the same problem the 2007 equinox had a recall on but all safety complaints on the 08 have been overlooked, cost of repairs are around a $1,000.00. since it had been an on going problem why hasn't there been a recall for the 08 model?

The light indicating the passenger airbag is armed doesn't go on anymore. i had this diagnosed and the code b0081 shows up indicating a faulty passenger presence module. with the module not sensing a passenger, the air bag probably will not deploy in the event of a crash. the dealer said it's not under recall, although the 2007 equinox was recalled for this defect.

Takata recall. 2008 chevrolet equinox, 56,000 miles. my service safety belt light came on as well as abs and check engine and ! ? is this under extended warranty?

Airbag light has been on since 102,000 miles. won't go off took it in for diagnosis and was told need a new pps module. it wasn't covered under my extended warranty. so didn't get it fix would have cost $900. seen all kinds of problems with this make and model with same problem. and that 2007 were recalled but not 2008. and considering the recall was made in 2008 don't you think they should have included 2008 models as well?? hoping they will still issue a recall soon so we can get it fixed!!! to me this is a safety issue and should be a proirity and fixed!!!

Service passenger airbag light on for last year all the time

Passenger air bag constantly coming on saying it is not working. all others recalled by 2008. now service traction control and service stabilitrak sensor on. i've read about both of these issues online here so why no recalls when it's something that's reacurring for others.

Passenger-side airbag sensor doesn't go on or goes on and off while in car driving or stationary. looks like this is the same issue from the 2007 recall, but not extended to the 2008. haven't taken it to a dealership yet but seems to be a common problem. this problem started around 80,000 miles. the airbag sensor indicator says service airbag all the time and the seatbelt indicator for the passenger side is on all the time whether the seatbelt is on or not

I have purchased a chevy equinox 2008 and the message center for the past 3 weeks displayed service air bag. there seems to be a electrical issue i can hear static or something coming from the driver side door every time i open and close it. major safety issue. i only have a 30 day warranty. i checked this car on auto check and the mileage was even wrong, when inspected last the miles were 118,000 when i got it it had 115,769 did they roll it back. what sites are accurate? i checked autocheck vin pro the past couple years they have been complaining same issues air bag sensor etc chevy sucks!

Airbag light coming on intermittently. the system will not arm due to the front passenger seat sensor, the system will sometimes work if a passenger is in the seat or may suddenly stop working when the passenger moves in the seat. this is a common problem with the previous model year and it was recalled, why not the 2008 model? very poor reliability of a safety system.

Dash light indicates service air bag. the vehicle has never been involved in a front collision. this is the same problem the 2007 equinox had a recall on but all safety complaints on the 08 have been overlooked, cost of repairs are around a $1,000.00. since it had been an on going problem why hasn't there been a recall for the 08 model. don't have the money to fix and sounds like this could cause a death or serious injury.

Passenger air bag does not work when someone is in front passenger seat. drivers window & lock stopped working(has been repaired). service traction control & service stabilitrak lights are on. egr valve code, torque converter code, evap system code, and abs code. there is also a squeeking noise from the front driver side wheel. i take very good care of my car & has less than 77k miles. also like others have complained i too get hurt on the back of my leg when getting out of the passenger seat.

Airbag lights coming on and off passenger air bag works sometimes on and off electrical with the lights brake light comes on and off been having problems with the air bags a lot and the electrical system.

The passenger airbag sensor goes on and off intermittently regardless of whether or not there is a passenger in the seat. the passenger airbag is off the majority of the time regardless of whether or not there is a passenger in the seat and the weight of the passenger does not matter. the service air bag light also flashes intermittently.

Passenger side airbag does not turn on when person is sitting in the seat. i've had people up to 250 pounds sitting on passenger side and it still won't turn on airbag. this is a very high risk of injury or fatality to passenger if air bag does not deploy if in an accident. so many others are saying same thing how is this not on a recall list yet or at least being investigated.

Beginning last year the passenger airbag indicator began to not work properly. i had the service codes checked and there was no code for the repeated warning light to service air bag. now the problem has become worse. when passengers of any weight are in the seat the indicator and service lights will come on randomly. most time my family is not protected by the airbag due to this issue. it appears the same issue happend to the previous model year and a recall was done. not for this model. this needs to be investigated and a solution created by chevorlet.

The passenger seat airbag does not come on when anybody is sitting in the seat regardless of the weight. the car was taken to milton ruben chevrolet in augusta, ga. for an estimate of repair. the estimate to replace the seat mat sensor was $980.00. my wife and i do not have that kind of money to spend to have it repaired. i have contacted chevrolet about the problem. the 2007 chevrolet equinox had a recall for the same issue and my question was "why was the 2008 equinox's not recalled for the same issue". chevrolet stated that the government has not forced them to recall the 2008 equinox's. i wish that i had gotten the man's name. i also filed a complaint with the better business bureau and the bbb was not able to help my wife and i. i also stated to the bbb that if someone gets hurt in a wreck due to the faulty passenger airbag, i would be looking to them for answers. the only help that milton ruben chevrolet would give my wife and i was to give us a discount on a new chevrolet. we cannot afford to buy a new car at this time.

Passenger airbag sensor is malfunctioning. airbag light goes off and on and is a safety concern. chevrolet, although thousands of people report this refuses to fix. cost to fix at dealer is around $1000.00. this is clearly a defective part that is a safety issue. chevrolet should fix this

Multiple problems with 2008 equinox, purchased in july 2008.. key will get stuck in ignition and takes several tries to remove it. check airbag light on intermittently and passenger airbag shuts off. *tr check stabilitrac light intermittently and shuts off when on interstate and/or when cruise control is set drivers side window is inoperable almost 100% of the time, but will work,sometimes, when the door is shutting or when you hit the door panel. vehicle alarm will set but drivers side door never locks and front passenger door rarely lock, same for when car is put in drive. will not lock by using the lock/unlock button located inside vehicle both back door locks get hung and must be manually unlocked. *tr

Passenger airbag turned off even though there was a person over 110lbs. in the passenger seat. occasionally get a service airbag warning when it goes off, but most times it just goes off and stays off without notice even when a passenger is occupying the seat. it happens almost every time i drive my car now, this needs to be recalled. it is unsafe to be driving on the highway and having your passenger airbag go off intermittently especially without notice sometimes. very dangerous. *js

The service air bag keeps coming off and on the dash and the indicator lights for the passenger seat. if my older child or anyone over 90lbs sits there or moves it comes on. gm states there are no issues and will not be a covered repaired at the dealership under warranty. there are other 2008 models with the same issues with recalls but none for the equinox. *tr

Since i got this vehicle every time my 10 year old grandson or any small adult sits in the passenger seat the passenger air bag will not work and the chevrolet dealer always has some excuse why they can't fix it. *tr
