When the speed of the car starts to reach 50 miles a high pitch sound occurs. i cannot determined if it is related to when air conditioner is turned on. the noise will diminish when speed is lowered to about 45 miles. i cannot recall if this happens in the colder months but it does seem to happen in the summer. *tr
Driving back home car started to jerk and all lights on dash began to flicker. pulled over and within a minute car started to smoke from under the hood then behind dash. state trooper pulled behind me and assisted see what was the trouble. lifted up the hood and saw engine was on fire at the rear of engine. trooper began to help remove personal items but car was in flames very quickly from around rear of engine. contacted the chevy dealer in virginia beach from which the cruze was purchase. never got a return call. contacted their finance manager once a week. no reply. contacted main manager left message. again no reply. the only call i got from chevy was their gm financial where the loan is.. they wanted the payoff quick and very little assistance in helping to get info on what to do next.. would have left it alone but son is in navy and needs a car. the only help we got was from the troopers that refer us to this site. also saw that the cruse is having problems with engine fires and dash fires. want something done before someone gets hurt from this. my son recognized a problem and pulled over. someone else might not be so lucky.
I own and drive a 2012 chevy cruze ls. i am 87 yrs. young and fortunately able to drive back & forth from ny to fla. with the assistance of auto train in va. for the longest time i have found that after on the road for a short while, i would smell rubber/fuel burning and blaming it on a truck or vehicle ahead of me of engine problems, therefore i would close the cabin vent, forget about it, which was a routine event...then my son drove my car and he experienced the same issue.. now, after a short drive, a mile or so, that smell comes thru the vents whether or not the heater or a/c is on. i've gone to a local dealership (manfredi chevy dealership of staten island, ny) & their mechanic didn't detect a smell but blame it on something else like a clogged a/c vent and charged me big money. their mechanic didn't try to duplicate the problem. i am not stupid or senile. my neighbor and others can smell the 'burning rubber' smell especially when using the heater, which i've had to use only in extreme cold weather with the vents closed. my fear is an engine fire. i have called & emailed gm and according to the vin #, there is no issue for a recall with that criteria, etc. yet, i go on line and there are thousands of other owners with the same model & year that have the same issue. some fluid is leaking on a hot engine and burning creating the smell. my children have done some research and have come up with the same complaints and gm denying there's a problem. i only have 15,000 plus miles on that engine...still like new. i hope to keep and drive it for as long as god lets me. i have 11 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren...and one of them will inherit this car. i'd appreciate any assistance or info on my issue. thank you
Squeak in left rear wheel area when braking at and under 20mph. dealer couldn't find problem.
I just want to start off by saying we purchased this car brand new from kocourek chevrolet in wausau, wi. dec 2012 or jan 2013 bumper fell off within 3 months of purchase while driving. yes, fell off. the dealership where we purchased the car hesitantly replaced it as the clips were broke off. dec 2012 trunk button does not work properly - has been replaced multiple times (by kocourek). and not it has recently once it opens, it will not close despite being slammed shut 8 to 10 times. oct 2012 had an antifreeze leak from day one - dealership tells us they can't find anything even when pointed out. i go though a gallon of dexos antifreeze every 2 weeks. but as the dealership says, that's fine and normal.... um... not to me!!!! jan 2018 - the car stalls out constantly - reduced engine power, while driving on the highway, in the city or even just parked in the driveway. i have been very nearly rear ended multiple times because of this. we have yet to find the source of this. jan 2018 codes for throttle position sensor issues even though it has been replaced multiple times. still can't find the source of this. dec 2018 after being started, the car will shut itself off or die off. still cant find the source. aug 2018 recently, the car has dash warnings that state "ac off due to high engine temp" even when it is 30 degrees out. the temp gauge will also drop to cold. we have also changed the thermostat multiple times as well. this car is beyond a lemon. we have had issues with this car from day 1. and what is more ridiculous is that the dealership will not stand behind it. i have service records documenting the complaints of the issues and the dealership "not finding anything wrong" or "unable to duplicate issues". we have given up with chevy and also with kocourek chevrolet in wausau. these issues have been ongoing since we purchased the car september 2012.
Recall 2012081 was sold a brand new vehicle without this recall being done from chapman chevrolet 6925 essington ave.philadelphia pa 19153 ... purchased on sat july 28th 2012.. informed of recall on july 29th by on-star and confirmed by dealership on mon. 7-30-2012 and feel dealership misled me and hid recall in order to complete sale. *tr
