I own a 2011 corvette c6 and in the last 2 months, i get a strong smell of gas that is constant. i have read threads on the corvette forms and found this is a crack in the fuel pump and it leaks out and collects into the pan that supports the gas tank. this is very dangerous and can start a fire along with fumes in the garage and sometime gas water heaters are located in the garage. i cannot believe this is not a recall.
Smell of gas. mainly from the drivers side rear wheel. most noticeable while park but noticeable while driving as well.
When i fill up with fuel, i smell gas in the car. for this to occur, something must be leaking somewhere. this is a safety issue and a recall should be issued.
Every time i fill the gas tank, the car smells heavily of gas fumes for days. i was told it is a leak from the top of the gas tank, and the mechanic told me he has seen this a lot with this model/year of corvettes. it's caused my fuel economy to drop, and my fuel gauge will sometimes shut off completely.
Bought a 2011 corvette . had a strong gas smell when parked . inside and out of car . took car in for inspection . tech said it's a common problem on c6 series corvettes that the fuel pump area has gas leaks . i parked car inside garage and the gas smell is so strong , i'm afraid to park it inside because of fire hazards . i have pictures of problem . chevrolet is aware of these cars doing this . it's in the web sights of corvette owners for same problems. they need to recall these for repair for fire hazard to car , house and injury to person owning them .
After every tank fill up , strong fuel smell odor comes from the left side (dover side ) wheel weld. also is strong when sitting in car . goes away after fuelclever starts to drop to empty
I bought the 2011 chevrolet corvette about a years, drove it less then 2000 mile, always fill gas correctly but this following week i got a leak somewhere on my left fuel tank and it smelling bad in my parking garage, fuel leak on the driver side rank.
All of a a sudden there is a smell of gas not only in the car but around the car. i think that can be a safety hazard. to date i have no recall of anything on the gas pump or fuel tank
The fuel pump assembly is leaking and needs to be replaced. there is a very strong smell of gas coming from the car when parked. the manufacturer is refusing to cover this repair and it is hazardous to drive the car in the current state.
I am experiencing a fuel odor near the driver door and inside of the vehicle. when the vehicle is parked in my garage, the fuel odor takes over the garage. this smell exist when vehicle is parked and in motion.
Fuel leak from crack in fuel pump. strong gasoline odor can be detected from driver side rear tire. this is a known common problem with c5 and c6 corvette and can cause fire as fuel leaks is collected in pan next to hot exhaust pipe.
After refueling vehicle there are strong gas fumes in the interior of the vehicle while driving causing me to vent the car interiors by lowering the windows and apply the a/c fans on high........ also the car horns stopped working without reason while driving in traffic and also affected the alarm system
Strong smell of gasoline inside and outside of my 2011 c6 corvette grand sport with no visible fuel leaks. the smell is evident after filling the car up, while driving below 40 mph and especially when turning on a long sweeping left turn. the local chevrolet service center quoted $1,800 to repair. the service writer stated he has seen numerous identical issues on the c6 corvettes.my vehicle has 44,000 miles. i am concerned about driving my car but i have overspent on the car and cannot afford whimsically spending nearly $2000 for a problem that should not be occurring.
Fuel smell when i fill the tank.
I began noticing a strong gasoline odor coming from the car. i researched this symptom and discovered it was a common and well known problem related to defective fuel pumps for my model year car. specifically, the fuel pumps develop cracks in the supply outlet of the pump, and then leak fuel along the top of the tank, which then flows down the side of the tank. i had to replace the pump, which the dealer now shows having a different part number than the original.
I have a very strong fuel smell in my garage after i drive my car. i replaced the gas cap and it did not go away. it is stronger when i have filled the tank (i do not overfill). i have researched this issue on the internet and found that quite a few owners of c6 corvetted have had this problem. my fear is that fuel is being sprayed from a crack in the top of the fuel pump just outside the tank and could result in a fire and injury. see the youtube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9e3md122mg.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet corvette. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, a fuel odor emitted in and outside the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump was fractured and leaking fuel. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 20,860.

Strong smell of gasoline inside and outside of my 2011 c6 corvette grand sport with no visible fuel leaks. the garage is filled with the smell of gas anytime the car is parked with over 1/2 a tank overnight. the local chevrolet service center quoted $1,600 to pull the fuel tank and replace the left fuel pump. the service writer stated he has seen numerous identical issues on the c6 corvettes and even showed me photos on his phone of where the fuel pump cracks on the the top. my vehicle has 46,000 miles. i no longer feel safe parking my car in my garage next to my gas water heater.
