A known gm defect exists on 2005 chevrolet corvettes. my automatic shift was stuck in park, hundreds of corvette owners have suffered this exact defect preventing the vehicle to be moved, stranding the driver for hours in parking lots, garages etc. on a highway 215 beltway in las vegas nevada my corvette was stuck in park, i could not get it in drive to move to a safe place. this has happened over 10 times. i contacted gm. they did respond, now are ignoring my issue. they have made no admission nor offering a resolution in this matter. my corvette is now being repaired at ed bozarth chevrolet in las vegas nevada at my expense for a bill of over $1,100. a defective shifter solenoid is part of the defect with a bending of the shifting cable & plastic shift assembly located under the center console. my corvette is extremely well maintained by me. you may google-" 2005 corvette automatic shifter defect" for further proof a serious defect common on this model creating a safety issue. you may view one of many blogs, photo links & detailed data on this defect here: http://m.corvetteforum.com/c6-tech-performance/3196793-2005-c6-autos-stuck-in-park-solution-with-pics.html. *tr

Transmission is locking in park. safety requires pressing the brake to start engine, then interlock should allow the car to be placed into drive or reverse. instead the shifter lock is preventing the car from being placed into any gear. the shifter is locked in park. *js
Car sometimes won't shift out of park even though the brake is pressed. when this happens, repeated pumping of the brakes and shaking/hitting on the shift lever will eventually clear the problem. this is the same issue reported in these nhtsa id numbers for the 2005 corvette: 10592630, 10592213, 10588824, 10586012, 10585827, 10579307, 10578116, 10577960, 10575060, 10573555, 10567037, 10561669, 10558088, 10513088. chevrolet apparently has no tsb or recall for this common issue. *tr
Harmonic balancer. *tr
Squeaking noise from engine accessory drive belts, clunking/ knocking noise at lower front of engine. the crank shift blancer split apart moving back to the engine. damage to the timing chain cover and oil pan causing oil to leak.
Brake shift lock fails to disengage and leaves gear shift stuck in park. leaves vehicle unable to be driven. gm is aware of this wide spread problem but has done nothing to correct it. charges unreasonable fees to fix because they will only replace entire shifter assembly when problem is only a much cheaper solenoid that can be replaced by itself. car will leave you stranded with no warning. *js
1 active handling system engaged without cause and redirected direction of vehicle engaged brakes to one side of car- 2.rear end blew out housing lost all oil and gears, prior repair under warranty- 3. transmission repaired by dealer2 times for shifting forks bent, warranty repair then had to replace transmission again after warranty expired at 5k! 4. driveline tunnel brace weld failed causing massive driveline damage to housing and driveshaft replacement. *tr

Automatic shifter gets stuck in park randomly.
Chevrolet 2005 corvette. aprox.40,000 miles driving under normal conditions. dry/sunny. driving slowly in morning rush hour traffic. changing from first to second gear. pedal lost pressure, sank to the floor. slave cylinder, hydraulic clutch failure. line ruptured, squirtig brake fluid all over hot exhaust manifold, block, heads, firewall. fluid caught fire . seen smoke within two seconds after pedal sank to the floor. popped hood seen flames. was able to put out. seems to be very dangerous , generic design and parts quality. car is at the shop as i write this. mech removed slave master line assembly. it seemed to be inferior for heat and pressure. most was plastic and held together with a plastic clip. if any of the plastic cracks or fails, break fluid could spray all over your hot exhaust manifold. such as in my case. *tr
