I have a 2005 chevy colorado and i cannot get the spare tire to release from under the vehicle. i have followed all manufacturer instructions and several other people have tried to remove the spare as well. this is absolutely ridiculous as i live in a cold climate and could be in an emergency situation and unable to change a flat tire because the spare will not release. definitely poor engineering. *tr
Purchased truck in november 2007 with 17,000 miles. truck now has 26,663 miles. no problems occurred with the braking system until september 2, 2008. while on vacation, stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, traffic began to move due to a green light. when the light turned red again, i pressed brakes to stop. experienced a horrible grinding noise and brakes would not work to stop the vehicle. very close to a collision. the abs light then came on and "abs fault" began to scroll. pulled off of the road, husband looked at brakes and could see no visible problems. shut the truck off and restarted it a moment later and the light and scrolling were gone. truck has done this everytime it has been driven since then. got a mechanic to read the code and he says the abs speed sensor on the left front wheel is bad and needs to be replaced. i have seen many complaints on the site reporting the same problem. also, several gmc trucks have been recalled for the same problem. this is a very dangerous issue. do we have to wait for someone to get killed for a recall to be issued? *tr

On way to work, i started braking while slowly coming to a red light. my brakes did not stop me and i crashed into another truck. i had extensive front end damage, while the other vehicle had none. when i applied the brakes, they went to the floor.also noticed pulling to the right....had new tires and alignment at sears(well after the accident) and, they said brakes were fine and did an alignment. when i had the accident damage repaired, i asked the dealer ship to check the brakes. they said they pulled the wheels and checked the brakes and road checked the truck, the braking incident failed to happen for them. so they claimed. i have also had other incidences where the wheels will spin upon acceleration from a stop on wet roads and also locking up on wet roads, and a grinding noise. des someone have to get killed in order for gm to send out a recall notice for this defect? my truck now has 37000 miles o it but the problems have been persisting for several years. i also had to replace the two front tires at 20,000 miles( which i had done at sears after the accident) as they went completely bald. these what recourse do i have? *tr
Abnormal tire wear and suspension noises on chevrolet colorado 4 x4 2005 model. with less that 20,000 miles both front tires were worn into the steel belts. i replace both tire and had the front end aligned by a local tire store. 5000 miles later the insides were wearing again. this time i took the truck to the local chevrolet dealer in anderson,sc. i had several items to be addressed before my original warranty expired. one of these items was the front end assemby- squeaks and rattles plus the tire wear. the local dealer kept my truck overnight and reported that i probably needed to get the front-end aligned and i would have to pay for this service because the original tires were not on the truck. the original tires were not on the truck because they were worn out. i had visited my car stats.com to read problems associated with 2005 colorado. one complaint number 10156778 told of a gm service bulletin concerning torsion bar setup on the colorado. i asked the chevrolet dealer to check service bulletin 1686447. they reset the entire front end. i will not know whether or not this fixed the situation until enough miles have been placed on the truck to check for wear. i really appreciate the " mycarstats.com "website. without this information my local dealer would have done nothing to fix this problem. *tr

I have owned my 2005 chevrolet colorado 4 door 4x4 since nov. 2004 i have had tires that puckered, 3 radios installed, blower motor switch replaced 1 time and is now out again, a leak in the fire wall that has been in 2 times to be fixed and still leaks in hard rains, a defective brake light switch. and the worst gas mileage of any vehicle i have owned in the past 30 years. my 71 monte carlo with a 400 big block and 3:73 rear end gears got better gas mileage. chevrolet said to wait till it had about 10,000 miles well it has 52,000 and still can't get past 16.5 mpg. and only 11 if towing anything. the radio has been fixed and the brake switch replaced i still have leaking fire wall and very poor gas mileage. i drive a nice straight shot 71 miles one way with only 2 stop signs between start and finish of my drive each day for a total of 140 miles of pure open interstate driving in a rural area! shame on you chevrolet! *jb
Took vehicle to dealership for excessive wear of inside of the front tires. since vehicle was at 13000 miles the factory warranty was no longer covered for any repair. dealership was not going to cover anything. they were going to charge a $40 fee just to evaluate the problem. since the front end was out of alignment the fee was waived and was charged $59.95 for the alignment. took vehicle to a tire store and paid for a new set of tires for a total repair of over $200. research shows that this is a common problem but manufacturer denies any problem. complaint was filed with manufacturer same day. *jb
