It's very disturbing to receive a safety recall notice in the mail. it's even more disturbing to be advised that your car cannot be repaired asap because "parts are not currently available." really? it's come to light this was known as far back as 2001 and parts are not currently available??!! even by keeping the ignition key all by itself on the key ring is no guarantee that this issue will not occur. this is the second recall i've had on this car since i purchased it in 2009. i've owned a number of cars in the past and none of them ever faced any type of recall whatsoever. needless to say, i'm very unhappy and very unimpressed. *tr

I was traveling on the freeway when i was clipped by a diesel truck on my drivers left rear. i spun counter clockwise in front of diesel and went straight towards center divider, upon observing a vehicle in the same lane my vehicle was head towards. both vehicles made contact hitting me on my drivers front panel and the cobalt hitting straight into center divider no air bags were deployed. injuries were sustained, car was a total loss. this vehicle has nothing but problem twice in 2013 the key would break off in the ignition and were not fitting correctly causing replacement. *tr

my airbag light says it is not on and the light in dash lights up and says "service air bags".the light stays on while i am driving and a red flashing light of a picture of a person behind the wheel with an airbag popped out on them flashes.it's frightening to me and i don't understand why it is doing this. it started doing this after i had the recall on the ignition switch fixed. *tr

Driver information center showed message: "service airbag soon". took car to dealership, told that clockspring was bad. replaced clockspring, took car to dealership, told that wiring was bad. repaired wiring, took car to dealership, told that rf airbag sensor was bad. airbag system has been broken for nearly 2 months now. *tr

My car has a lot of electrical shortages or just don't work. the unlock button on the driver side will not unlock the rest of the doors and the lock button you have to hit multiple times for it to work. i have no sound out of the speaker in the driver side door and i have replaced it twice and it just continues to blow. i have no sound while my turn single is on. my passenger side air bag is disabled and i have a warning that says service air bag and the icon for the airbag on my panel. i have had it looked at and nobody can seem to determine what is wrong with it. the sound on my radio fades in and out and the button to turn the heat on for rear defrost, air conditioner and the one to circulate the car only worked when they want to. and every since i had the ignition and those recalls fixed the buttons on the right side of my steering wheel (info, reset buttons) only work occasionally. *tr

A wire harness failed in the passenger side air bag/seat belt which would leave the air bag disabled. when taken to a mechanic to get fixed we were informed a whole new seat belt assembly which included the harness had to be ordered from a dealer to be replaced to fix the problem. he then informed us the new factory oem harness and assembly was delivered with new routing instructions to prevent the harness from being damaged again. then indicates to me the company knows of the potentionally deadly issue yet fails to recall it.

4/22/13 approx 7:30 am, approached red-light, gently applying brakes. car started to lose power! dashboard lights dimmed while i was slowing down. this has been happening for over a yr. as soon as light turned green, car felt like it was losing power and was going to stall out! (like if you were to run out of gas. stepped on the gas, as soon as i saw the light turn green, to try to prevent the stall out, and about 1/4 into intersection, another car was running a caution light, which turned to red... my car regained power with a thrust of the engine, which took me into the path of the other vehicle who hit me at about 35 mph, which caused us to spin completely around in the middle of intersection. airbags did not deploy. the police report stated i failed to yield the right of way. in part that is true, as i felt i had to apply the gas to the car to keep it from "stalling! heavy damage to driver's side, front end, hood, bumper and support beam by engine. there are many recalls on this car. 5/9/2012, fuel odor or spotting on ground; 9/16/10-loss of power steering assist; 3/1/2010-recall 10v073000 power steering motor replacement; 1022/2009-fuel pump module replacement. in the pass three yrs i advised east syracuse chevy dealer that my dashboard lights, lighted areas radio, etc; go in and out like the car has an electrical problem, door left-open, lights, low-fuel, single lights chimes all don't work. dealer advised me there is a short in the dash somewhere causing all these problems, radio speakers are all connected i would have to pay to repair which was over $2,000. remotes don't work. i have had many front end problems with this vehicle, i.e. sway bar, steering column bushings; struts;steering components, linkage/cv drive axle boots, control arms; repairs;11/30/11, 2/16/2011. *tr

Driving west approx. 35 mph lady pulled in front of across 4 lanes traffic hit broadside on her passenger side. little damage to her car. over $6000. damage to my car. no air bag deployed. driver of my car hurt wrist and hit knees on dash. ended up 8 months later having knee surgery because of tear in knee from wreck. passenger hurt wrists. *tr

In my words and experience that happened on the day of 03/13/2013, appx 4:30 pm on my way home from work, like any other day over crowded traffic hour , stop and go, i started to experience loss of power in my vehicle. twice it started loosing power then the vehicle veered towards oncoming traffic i steered to the right and vehicle would not steer back into normal position causing me to go over a dirt embankment and off a cliff, at that point i do not think the engine was running, i literally thought this was the end of my life, going through trees ,hitting rocks. there was nothing i could do but to wait to die. then the vehicle hit something real hard causing the vehicle to roll over and come to a stop. i just remember wanting to get out of the car as fast as i could. i had to crawl out of the passenger side to get out. i didn't see anyone i couldn't see the roadway i was so far down. i heard people yelling if i was ok. i then remembered i needed my purse and my phone to get help so i crawled back into the car i found my purse but no phone or keys until the vehicle was recovered by chp recovery. at the time i didn't feel i needed medical attention, but since the accident my back and my balance are not the same as they use to. i've also been having difficulties with my memory. *tr

On november 10, 2010, i was on my way to work. it was about 10:00am if i remember correctly. i could not even make it out of my subdivision before my cobalt began to give out on me. i made a right turn at a stop sign, and my car suddenly started to "roll" i would say, because i was not able to steer or press the brakes. basically the car had cut off without me knowing. i definitely didn't expect it to happen since it was on a full tank of gas. but anyways as it was rolling it was pulling towards the right since that's how my steering wheel was already turned from me making a right at a stop sign. i could not get the car to stop and i was rolling down the hill drifting off into peoples yards. the car rolled into a brick mailbox. it hit pretty hard. the brick mailbox came completely out of the ground and luckily fell in the opposite direction. i slung forward one the car hit the mailbox. i blacked out for a few seconds, and then immediately went into a panic attack which caused me to go into an asthma attack. i have asthma pretty bad. the air bad did not deploy. the front end of the car was all smashed in and all the fuels had leaked out. because i slung forward i had whiplash, and also a knot on my head and a swollen busted lip. i was wearing my seat belt. i was out of work for a while due to the pack neck and head injuries. the police was called and a police report was filed. and of course the car was totaled out, which also left me with no transportation. *tr
