The both front speaker quit working. that the turn signal chime did not work either this after take mi car to the dealership cause something about power steering recall

The vehicle lost power steering today in traffic. the dealership said the power steering recall was performed i'm march of 2011. i had the vehicle in for a knocking noise previous to this date (2007). nothing was ever found. i found out today that the knocking was related to the power steering. i ignored the knocking because i cant afford for the dealership to find nothing. this is a recall that was never fully corrected. i feel as though gm ignored the real issue. i still have knocking noise and now, loss of steering. *tr

The car was in for a recall for the power steering assist motor in 2011, after driving the car for about 20,000 miles the power steering kept going out while driving. not only is this extremely dangerous, but also scary while driving. considering the power steering assist motor was supposed to be replaced under recall and i am still having problems i would guess that shortcuts or defective parts were used during the recall repair. jack maxton chevrolet and gm has been giving me the run around about the repair and asking me to pay $336 for the repair. ridiculous! *tr

I was backing up out of my driveway to let another car out and as soon as i put the car in reverse the car made the chime noise as if it was telling me to put on my seatbelt seconds later power steering was flashing on the dashboard the rpm gauge was jumping, the fuel gauge was jumping back and forth, low fuel blinking on dashboard with full tank of gas, steering wheel very hard to turn, check engine light is on, security lock light is on, transmission clicks when shifting. called the dealer i financed the car from he told me to take it to a shop called precision auto services he couldn't figure out problem said most likely it was a computer issue so i called gm customer service to inform what was going on they had the car towed to bob johnson chevrolet and they did a recall on the ignition switch also said there was a broken shift cable installed a new cable, they also had to replace serpentine belt. after all that i pick up car and make payment a week and a half later car does the same thing. i call and explain to service assistant manager he says that he didn't check for power steering after i explained was the whole purpose of having the car looked at long story short he gave me the run around so i thought to look elsewhere i took it to another shop where it was diagnosed free of charge he said that there were lots of codes on my car. but the car was back to normal after diagnosis then about 3 weeks later same problem took it back he explained to me that whoever disconnected a remote starter on my car didn't do it properly causing the modules in the car to not communicate. i paid to have that repaired 2 weeks later same problem now mechanic tells me its transmission control module which costs almost $500 which is over my budget. i'm making payments on something that i should be able to drive to and from work safe and comfortably. please help! *tr

I purchase the car from schofield in 2008 it has had two recalls one on the gas tank and another on the steering column now it is acting up everyday i think it is due to the cold weather and it has to be a manufacturing issue the warning lights began to flash on come on the gauges go up and down like crazy the gas hand goes up and then below empty the car loses power the power steering light comes on the brake light comes on it begins to make a clicking noise and it jerks as it drives i am so afraid to drive my car because of these defects, i took the car into scofield a couple of weeks ago they said they could not find anything wrong but it is obvious there are things that are wrong when i tried to turn a corner its like the power steering goes out i have the papers from schofield i need someone to help me please i don't want to be another victim of this car. *tr

I was driving in town and the power steering warning flashed across the dashboard reader. i assumed i would need to go get some power steering fluid to fix the problem. the next day i was descending rapidly down a very steep curving hill when the power steering went out completely and i could not control the vehicle! i narrowly avoided a collision with another car and some trees! since then i have done some research an found innumerable complaints about this very issue across several model years of the cobalt. it is well documented that this is a serious and chronic issue and gm has largely ignored the safety of those who keep them in business!! what a bad business model! we are a one car and one income family and now i simply cannot let my teenagers drive at all because i don't have $1000.00 to fix my car right before the holidays! thanks gm!! *tr

On friday, when i tried to back out of my parking space, my wheel was extremly difficult to turn. at first i thought it was because the weather was changing and it was cold outside. throughout that day, the wheel began to loosen up, but it was still a little stiff. the next day, saturday, i tried to turn my wheel and it would not turn. the wheel felt like it was stuck. i let my car warm up and eventually i was able to drive the car. on sunday, i took my vehicle to pep boys to see what was wrong. they diagnosed that my struts were cracked and that was causing the problem. and they quoted me about $600! so i took it to precision auto tune for a second opinion. at precision, they told me that there was nothing wrong with the struts! and that i needed a new power steering motor, which costs me $423.00. they replaced the motor on sunday. monday morning, i went to drive to work and my wheel would not turn at all! i had the vehicle towed back to precision. so now they're telling me that its the steering column that needs to be repaired. and that would cost over $1000. i do not have that kind money and i'm still waiting on gm to fix the ignition switch from the recall. i'm taking the car to a dealership and hopefully they can fix the ignition and the steering free! inorder for precison to refund my money back, they took out the new motor and put the old one back in. *tr

Car's power steering failed. this is my 22 year old daughter's car. luckily she was not going at a high speed or on the highway when this occurred. i took the vehicle to the dealer and was told this was a $1200.00 repair. even though a recall was made on this model, it apparently affected only models built at certain factories. gm should recall all these vehicles since this is a known issue with this model. *tr

Driving down the highway @ 55mph and the power steering cuts off, the power brakes cut off, the abs light comes on, the turn signals start going on and off at random, the gauges jump up and down nonstop. i just picked up my car and was told it referenced tsb#08-07-30-021 (nhtsa#10025402). the check engine light is still on because of this problem. the shop referenced the following error codes from the check engine light: p0575 u7300 u0121 u0140 thank goodness no one was behind me or around me at the time because i was unable to properly steer the vehicle, brake, or accelerate. this is a major problem that should be addressed by gm. *tr

The power steering, in this 2007 chevrolet cobalt, started failing intermittently at low speeds, progressively getting worse while my daughter was driving, thoroughly frightening her. when i was at the dealer for the ignition switch recall i asked them about it and was told that since the power steering was replaced in the 2010 recall, (less than 4 years and about 46,000 miles ago) that there was nothing they could do because the recall was closed. as you know, a component this critical to the operation of a vehicle should not be failing at these frequent rates. this constitutes not only a major expense to repair a problem which shouldn't be occurring in the first place, but a major safety issue to the operator, passengers, and other motorists and pedestrians as well. this is a known problem with these vehicles and i suspect that the replacement parts used weren't any better than the originals, as evidenced by this failure and based on the number of complaints that i have since read about. a new recall has also been issued for the 2010 model year for this same issue, yet, this model year was included in the prior recall. it is my belief that general motors should stand behind what is an obvious design flaw issue that has yet to be perfected. thank you for your attention to this matter. *tr

While driving along, getting off of an exit ramp onto a main hwy, i reached over to turn my defroster off, when the wheel jerked to the left, i attempted to gain control but never got total control although i did get back onto the road. a few seconds later the car jerked again and this time i realized the steering wheel was not moving-it was locked up and i could not turn it. i then hit the guard rail on the north side of the hwy and then came across to the south side hitting the concrete bridge railing. the ignition switch recall had supposedly been corrected but the ignition locked up on this vehicle. *tr

I was driving, and this isn't the first time that this has occurred, and i will get a notification on my dash for the power steering, the car will remain powered. the gauges(speedometer fuel and rpm) will all go down to zero, and vehicle will be very hard to steer. i do have to stop my car, and let it sit for about 30 seconds to continue driving. this is a intermittent issue that i have noticed. it happens at any given time. *tr

I have to drive the car to work everyday around 50 miles everyday. i have had all this work done the the car i have tried to get general motors to help with the problem which after all this work the car shakes and makes very loud noises on the steering wheel. i called a general motors helper last week who was supposed to get me some information and have not been contacted back yet. i have to have the car to go to and from work, is it going to take the car being wreaked and me and or another person on the freeway to be killed before anybody takes this problem seriously? this problem is all over the internet so i am not just trying to say it is just me. i have spent all money i had put back trying to get this car safe on the freeway, i bought the car from rodney cobb in eaton, ohio and was hoping general motors would take this seriously but i guess not so i am hoping and praying to get some help from the government. please i need help and i cannot afford to pay anymore or get rid of the car. general motors and rodney cobb chevrolet will not help me on my own i have tried, they expect me to pay money for a faulty car that i cannot afford, so i am asking you to please help....thank you.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet cobalt ls. the contact stated that while attempting to turn, the steering wheel it became stiff and hard to control. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but they did not perform a diagnostic test. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 91,000. the current mileage was 91,373.

Car was taken to the dealership due to a recall. day after i pick it up from there i was not able to pull it from a parking lot (power steer light was on) . i contacted gm and they asked me to call the dealer. dealer promised me that they will call me back, they also said that my car had similar issue in may 2010, but gm only asked for specific part to be replaced at this time (last recall) and this is the work that they did. i called them a few times and no answer. on 5/3 contacted gm and i was told that a customer experience manager will take care of my car, so i should wait 24hrs for a phone call. i kept calling gm because no one called me back, left message on 5/9, 5/16 (no answer). a phone call was missing from them on 5/9, i called back with no answer... called them yesterday again and explained my concern driving a car that sometime is hard to handle and make turns and at the same time i smell gas inside while driving, i also said that i do not want to put my 11 years old in risk......, i was told that my case is now with a higher manager and they will contact me soon. today, i called gm again and they had me waiting for 25 minutes to connect my call with the manager, nothing happened. i feel this car is not safety .... *tr

The chevy cobalt recall does not fix the kill switch problem. i just got this car back today. i attached a small wallet that holds only my license and bank card in it and the air bag light still goes on and off. hence this is exactly what it did before it was replaced. i didn't have this problem with the same wallet attached in my chevy rental car. this car is not corrected. it is still a death trap. if you only leave the key in the ignition the air bag light stays off exactly what they said to do before it was changed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet cobalt. when the vehicle was parked, the contact smelled fuel. while driving at an unknown speed, the steering lost power and the power steering and check engine lights illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer who stated that a recall repair was previously performed and would not be repeated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that nothing could be done. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

My vehicle was making a loud noise i took it to the mechanic he said it was the tire rod end and bearing and it was the 3rd cobalt with the exact same issue in a week that hed fixed he also said he couldn't see any reason for it in either car that those things usually don't just wear out. i asked him what might happen if i continued to drive it as is and he said the tire could come off while driving down the highway.could you please check into this? thank you. *tr

Tl the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet cobalt. while driving approximately 30 mph the ignition switch failed and the vehicle stalled causing the steering wheel to lock. the contact had a difficult time removing the key from the ignition and was unable to get the key back into the ignition. the vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated the ignition switch was faulty and it was replaced at the owners expense. the failure occurred on march 2, 2014. the manufacturer advised her that the recall was not available until april of 2014 and there was nothing they could do to assist her. the contact was concerned that the failure could recur and result in a fatal crash. the approximate failure mileage was 179,000. rk updated 04/22/14 ma the consumer stated the steering wheel locked up and there was a vibration in the steering wheel. updated 04/24/14

The engine turned off all by itself while i was driving around a corner, causing the car to go off the road. i was going about 35 mph, and applied the brakes as fast as i could, but the car went up and over the curb, across the sidewalk, and both front tires went down off the steep edge of the sidewalk's far side into the mud. the part of the car body immediately behind the front tires was almost touching (way less than 1 inch above) the edge of the top / edge of the sidewalk. i couldn't reverse back up and over the sidewalk edge. a tow truck was called, and pulled the car straight back and up/over the edge of the sidewalk and onto the road. some sort of dust cover thing from up inside the passenger-side wheel well had been torn loose during the crash off the sidewalk edge and was still laying in the mud. after i restarted the car and drove home, the steering / suspension (i cannot tell which) made a creaking and grinding sort of noise when turning, and i could tell from the extensive bouncing at even little bumps in the road that both front struts had been damaged. *tr

While backing out of a parking space and shifting into drive, my 2007 cobalt lost power steering. a chime sounded and the dash lit up with an error message about power steering failure. i've previously taken advantage of the recall for the assisted power steering rebuild in 2010, yet the component has failed again! gm wants me to pay for a tow to the dealership and pay for a diagnostic. i will pay for a tow, but i will not pay for them to tell me that the assisted power steering has again failed. if i take it to the dealership, and they find an error code indicating that the assisted power steering has failed, i believe they should not charge me at all. furthermore, they should replace - not rebuild - this faulty, ill conceived device that has such poor design. *tr

While exiting the freeway, the car engine and electrical system suddenly went dead for no apparent reason. the driver steered the car to the side of the road without power steering or brakes. after it stopped, the driver put the car in park and restarted the engine. there were two people in the car at the time of the incident. *tr
